He's the author of an upcoming book, or Gonners, which is right in our neighborhood, Ladies and Gentlemen. Is an award winning journalist. He's a media strategist advisor to senior ecuative executives. He's the host of What's Bugging Me podcast on the Ricochet Network, and he's also previously anchored at CNBC and Fox Business News. Dennis, it is a pleasure to have you on the show. Same here, Caleb. We've been having such a stimulating conversation before the camera rolls. Let's try to live up to it for the rest of this gig. Thanks for this opportunity. Absolutely, it's a real pleasure. And obviously, you know, living in the Pacific. Northwest, your book strikes a nerve for us because we're kind of tired, those of us that are on the conservative side of things, libertarian side of things, We're kind of tired of really the whole West Coast, but specifically the Pacific Northwest of just always being this liberal nightmare. Yeah, a parody of itself. You know, some people have asked, Dennis, you lived in Brooklyn for forty three years. I moved down to Soflow down to South Florida only in January. Why didn't you write a book about New York Gone Crazy? Well, New York's so big and diverse, it's hard to kill and it takes years before bad effects really show up. In Oregon four point two million people, it's a Canarian the coal mine for blue states and liberal policies that are morally high minded, but voters and politicians ignore the bad outcomes. They show up in sharper relief in Oregon, and they show up sooner, and they're showing up like crazy. Okay, you have problems such as super high taxes, something like sixties eight. I think it is of Oregon ers say, oh, we're heading the seriously wrong direction. Taxes are one of the biggest reasons companies leave. You have over regulation of the environment. Oregon is one of the biggest sources of timber in the world. It has amazing resources, and yet you can't log it. And so you have timber companies in Oregon spending a quarter of a million dollars to buy timberland. In North Carolina, you have the homeless industrial complex in the Portland area. Metro area. You spend more than seven hundred million dollars a year on fewer than twenty thousand homeless people, Yet what's the outcome. The homeless ranks went up sixty four percent in two years, and in fact, homeless street are turns fled to the area because of the good benefits you have. The food bank there brings in one hundred million dollars a year and government grants and other grants, so it can distribute homeless. But the attics on the street only eat so much, and most of them are on food stamps anyway, so some of the food they distribute turns into rat feed. So you have example after example of really bad outcomes and the high taxes. Portland is second only in New York City in highest taxes, and yet in Portland the average weight is twenty minutes for a violent nine to one one call. So you're getting nothing for all the money that you're spending and paying in to taxes. You bring up so many great points here, you know, I'm reminded of the old movie Feel the Dreams and the line of if you build it, they will come, and that is the homeless situation in. Portant industrial complex. The homeless industrial complex. That's exactly right. People are getting rich off of it, and if they solve the problem, they'd be out of a job. And so the focus is not so much on getting them off the street as the focus is on making them more comfortable on the street. The county gives out tents and tarps and the police forces to to allow them to set up almost anywhere they want. And yet I had a guy, he's got his own car driver company now, and in the early two thousands he was homeless. He was addicted to opioids, and he told me that if you want to get them off the street, you must make life as miserable as possible on the street, which is the opposite of what the homeless industrial complex does. You're absolutely right. I mean areas of Portland it's not even fun to go down to anymore. And I'm not that far away from it. But he used to be a great, cool city that you can go to and explore, and it was always a little bit weird. They kind of embraced that, but now it just you don't feel safe going through there, and there's tents literally everywhere. People are on fentanyl all over the place, walking around like zombies. They've destroyed that once very beautiful city. And here's the thing about feeling safe. There's this, there's this. I forget the name of the guy. Anyway, the basic things of civilization that you need, and the very first is safety, that feeling of safety before you can have a good life, go to work, you know, build something safety. And yet you don't have that in Portland. And you know, I talked to one woman, a gorgeous fera facet blonde lawyer, had operated downtown for a good twenty years, and she's assaulted broad daylight walking from her parked car to the office. She was so upset about it she never went back again. It happened one year after a friend of hers was assaulted by a guy downtown who threw a big canteen at her head and knocked her out. And you know, then it turns out I talk to people there and said, oh no, the crime risk is not just downtown, it's in every neighborhood. There's homeless people on the streets. There's forty percent I think of the fires are started by homeless people accidentally or otherwise. It's just a mess all the way around. So one guy comes along political operative Dan Lavy, who's the star of the book, and he says, why don't we spend an extra fifty million dollars a year on cops. We're at nineteen ninety three levels one point two cops per one thousand. Let's make it to two point two. With fifty million dollars. We can do that, raise the eight hundred cops on our force to twelve hundred and fifty percent, and start preaching safety for the streets. Been another guy there, a developer, John de Lorenzo, says, if we can make people feel safe, we will have the best turnaround story. The media will catch on to it. Finally people start coming back instead of people streaming out and leaving. Something like forty percent of Portlanders told the Oregonian Survey, Oh yeah, we think we're going to be leaving here within five years. It's a bess and crime. And what happens when they propose, well, where's the fifty million going to come from? Well, there is this Portland Clean Energy Fund, a special climate change tax because we're going to fight climate change. And they thought it would bring in sixty million dollars a year. It brings in two hundred million dollars a year. By the time my book went to press and came out in April, there was a seven hundred million dollar surplus that they couldn't even spend yet. Okay, so let's take fifty million a year from that fund. And do you know that the Coalition of Communities of Color, a group of two dozen minority organizations, came out and hired lawyers to sue to block this proposal to increase police by fifty percent. Now, why would communities of color, which are bigger exposure to crime, more crime happens there, and minorities are victims more often of crime. Why would the Coalition of Communities of Color come out against this let's have more cops there? And it's because it turns out a dozen of their member groups, these minority groups, black business owners whatever, they got grants for fighting climate change. Okay, here's a let's give hal the price to cover of electric cars to forty black business owners in Portland so they we could reduce carbon emissions. That ridiculous argument, right, it's just a giveaway, okay. And because eleven or twelve of those organizations and the CCC got grants from this thing, they opposed the idea of hiring war cops by taking fifty million out of it when the things bringing in two hundred million a year. It's a rather interesting conflict of interest, isn't it? I would say so. And this is why you always tell people follow. The money, all right, right, because you're going to find the source of the corruption. And there it is right there by the way. Do you know where follow the money started? First? Took hold? What was that? Geberd Griffin, the creature from Joel Island. No, no, it's all the President's been. Okay. Robert Redfords in an underground garage and a darkness with Deep Throat played by Hal something, famous actor, and he says, follow the money is That movie was based on the Woodward Bernstein book. You know, I worked for Woodward as an intern to the Wall Street Journal at the Washington Post four years after that. Basically okay, And that line never appears in the book. Deep Throat never said it. So a Hollywood scriptwriter wrote that line that we still quote now fifty years later. I dream of doing something like that that sticks with you because it was not only a great line, it was a great advice for how to follow politics. Wasn't it. My gosh, it was. Imagine being the guy who wrote that. You know, I got to find out who it is so I can actually give him credit. He may be dead now, but those words live on, and any journalist, any writer, any podcaster, any politician dreams of coming up with that. You know, I would definitely agree with that, you know. Returning back to Oregon here though, it's it really makes me sad because the Pacific Northwest, as far as natural beauty goes, it's unmatched anywhere in the world that the mountains, the trees, the water is so clear and pure. The Oregon beaches are unlike any beaches you're gonna go to ladies and gentlemen. There's such a contrast that the water's cold, I will say that, but there's such a beautiful contrast with the pines and the beaches. It's just absolutely gorgeous, and people don't want to go there anymore. It's downright intoxicating, so much so that if you're there and you've been in that environ for that long, no matter how upset you might get watching the local news on the you know, Socialist dominated Portland City Council passing yet another stupid rule. No matter how set you get, you walk outside, instantly you're in beauty and it's like, you know, natural air conditioning. And they like to say that in Portland two hours away there's the beach, you can go surfing on the Pacific coast. Two hours over there you can go skiing in the mountains and in the snow, and then there's the ranches and the the beautiful painted desert stuff. Yeah, but you know what, I think it really does stop people from pushing back and stopping bad things from happening that you know, they don't stand up and make themselves heard. There's this protocol known as Portland Polite in Oregon nice, and people look at scance if you dare stand up and criticize, which makes it hard to run against the Democrats super majority. There's leading the state off a cliff. I mean, ridiculous pension obligations because of the unions. The unions dominate that government. I mean, my gosh, what can you do to stop this, to change this? And you know, if Oregon were to elect its first Republican governor since the election of nineteen eighty two, this would send a stark message to the Democrat party in the state to stop being so damn crazy. But more than that, it would send a message around the country to other Blue states and Blue cities. You've gone too far, You've lost sight of sanity. You know, in Oregon, the people have been in an insane environment for so long that they no longer are able to recognize sanity. It's why I, the Brooklyn outsider, have come in to call it out for them. There was an experiment you know about, probably called the Rosenhan experiment in nineteen seventies. They put plants, you know, shills who were pretend to be crazy in eleven insane asylums, and doctors diagnose sanity in an insane environment, and pretty much they failed utterly. They could not pick out the dupes who were pretending to be crazy, even though some of them were psychologists and psychiatrists and so in Oregon, yeah, people stopped calling out insanity. But now there's this pushback. Right. Look what happened in the May is May primary, this proposal on there. The governor pushed through an emergency tax increased four billion dollars over ten years for their Department of Transportation. Our roads are just falling apart, really it was just a big gift to the union. She called an emergency session to get it done. It passes. Two hundred and fifty thousand voters sign a petition saying, bull put this on the ballot so we can vote against it, and then eighty three percent of the voters in the primary vote against it. An amazing outcome that shows that even liberal voters are sick of this. It's gone too far. And yet what is the city council doing. Oh, they've just outlawed flogras. Oh, they've just passed a law making it illegal to discriminate against people who are polyamorous. How about if you're polyamorous, you just kind of keep it to yourself. You won't face any discrimination at all. That's so true. Yeah, I'm so glad you brought up this Republican governor because the people of Oregon actually have an opportunity here. And it's going to be kind of wild, sir, if all of a sudden, we have a bunch of people who drive superu outbacks and have their septum pierced voting for a Republican governor. But it could happen. But there is she's a woman for. A woman Christine dres and the feisty little redhead. She could use a voice coach, okay for a more little, more cronkite gravitus rather than Oh, she sounds like a you know, nineteen year old college freshman or something. But her ideas are sound, but she has to run carefully. She can't, you know, run against Trump because you've got to respect the president and he's in your party. And yet she feels like I'll bet or advisors feel like she dare not embrace Trump too hard. Never mind that in twenty twenty four President Trump got more votes in Oregon then Governor Kotech got to win office as a Democrat in twenty twenty two, you know, forty percent of the electorate probably if you count independence there lean right rather than left, and let you never know it because of the same geimandering that other red states do. So sure, but she's not getting the support you and I were talking off camera here, she's not getting the support from the orn. See where is the Republican National Party on this? And why aren't they? And is it simply because she doesn't embrace Trump enough? And yet you guys are missing it, you know, Christine Dresen is actually a few points in ahead in the polls. The Democrats that have had majorities in both houses of the legislature for twenty years, they've had a super majority sixty percent for ten years, and in that time things have gotten worse and worse. Tina Kotek is vulnerable. The Oregonian ran a survey showing that even in the Portland area, where she represented for fifteen years in the state House, she's got falling support, low approval ratings, as bad as Trump. So I'm sure, And yet where is the Republican Party? Where is the Republican Party? Even in Oregon? They're so weak, They've been number two for so long it is as if they're like I've said this before, but I repeat myself, and so why not. There are the Washington generals who get paid thousands to lose every game to the Harlem Globetrotters. You know, they're number two. I try harder. They're happy to be feed at the same troth And that's kind of a reflection of what it's like in Washington. I can't believe how little the Republican Party has done with supposed control of both houses. You know, Trump has done it all on his own and without much help from them because they hate him too, they fear him. They're waiting for him to leave the National Party. Long time insiders. They don't realize that this revolution will go on long after Trump has gone. I wrote I helped, I'm supposed to say I helped write a book called The Trump Century by lou Dobbs, the longtime anchor I Love that man passed away. He came out in twenty twenty before the election, and it argued that whether Trump wins or loses, his revolution is taken hold, and for decades to come, we will be having debates. They're centering around the agenda that Trump set and that was very prophetic and prescient, and that is what's happened. The Trump agenda is the only Agendamerica has. The only agenda the Democrats have is to oppose the Trump agenda. And now because they've been stuck in their heels, caught back on their heels, whatever that cliche saying is, you know, the Democrats are being kind of taken over by a bunch of crazy socialists. It's unbelievable. The tent is so big, yeah, that the Muslim socialists will be overtaking your entire agenda soon. You're absolutely right. Actually, I was going to ask you about that, because you know Oregon, Oregon definitely has a reputation, especially Portland for these these pretty hardcore, crazy Marxists. And currently the Democrat Party is experiencing quite a problem, and you're seeing the establishment that is, they're not willing to come out and say anything against them, but they sure are working behind the scenes to try to stem this flow of the Democratic Socialists of America. Are we going to see where is the Democrat Party going to fall? Is it going to fracture? Is there going to be two parties coming out of this? I mean, Caleb, hasn't it arguably already fallen? You have leaders like AOC and Chuck Schumer saying it's a big ten. We can accommodate socialists. It used to be that Bernie Sanders was the only avowed socialist and he was kind of cute. Ah, he in his eighties. Not to worry, he's. Just an old man, He's yeah. But so are electing are dangerous? Are they are truly crazy? And I can't believe that the Democrats are voting for them, and the old Democrats are terrified of the young, and so they're giving them a certain amount of leeway, a certain amount of rope. But my gosh, you watch they're going to primary Schumer with AOC and so he's going to lose. We keep I mean, New York just elected three, I think Muslim socialists or something. They're likely to win seats in Congress. And yet Muslims keep saying out loud that they want to take over America, that every home will be Muslim. You know they've got this. I don't see a whole lot of pushback from Muslims saying no, we don't feel that way, in the same way that I think it was three Democrats in the House came out in Washington and said, hey, man, heck, we were not socialists, we are capitalists. We believe in this country in the Constitution. And something like two hundred and twenty other Democrats said nothing. They didn't say yeah, us two because they're afraid, you cowards. You know, how is it that we let in New York City a Muslim socialist become mayor of the most capitalist city in the world with one million Jews in it, And it's because they have one million Muslims, and they let the guy who resents Israel, he probably resents Jews. And do you know that these congressional socialists who got the Democrat nomination. I looked at it in a couple of areas. One can she got eight percent of the registered Democrat voters in her district eight percent because everybody stayed home. It's our own damn fault. But we aren't waking up enough. And you're not allowed to argue against Muslim candidates by saying, look, the Muslim faith is antithetical to American freedoms in the Bill of Rights. Okay, Sharia la, all that stuff is antithetical. You're not allowed to say that because you will be accused of Islamophobia, which is a made up offense. It turns out attacks on Muslims in America or it's something like one third the rate of attacks on Jews, So shut up about it. It's a made up thing that just never happened. I'm allowed to oppose your religion if it wants to overtake my country, if it wants to throw out my constitution. I'm allowed to oppose your religion without being islamophobic. There's no islamophobic about it. It's a very real concern, and not enough people are standing up. Only. Ted Kruz just the other day talked about this overlap odd bedfellows of socialists and Muslims, because really what's going to happen is when Muslims can take over, they will stamp out the socialists. Yep, if those socialists are unwilling to convert to Muslims. Amba exactly is going on. You look at what's happened in the UK. Yeah, we're not going to let this happen here. We cannot let this happen. Amen to that, I completely agree. Is this the natural progression? Though? I mean, we used to have the so called blue dog Democrats, the JFK Democrats, and JFK would probably not be accepted in the today's Democrat party. Let us remember that when JFK ran for president, a big issue was wait a minute, you're Catholic. Yes, your religion is an issue, because what if you're just going to obey the pope? And Kennedy was so good looking and smooth that he managed to sidestep that, but it was okay for us to question whether a Catholic can be trusted. I think the issue might have even come up with Joe Biden at the time. It's just that the guy is supporting abortion. So let's forget, you know, about whether he's any kind of devout Catholic. Not worry about that. But if we're allowed to do that for Catholics, we can sure as hell do that with Muslims. And Tom Basil is a Newsmax anchor. I'm on Newsmax three times a week. Happily love that place for putting me on. Tom Basil wrote a column in The Washington Times questioning whether Muslim congressional candidates who win elections can be seated because when they take the oath of office, they are supposed to pledge their fealty above all to the country and the Constitution. And yet how can a Muslim candidat do that? If they want every household to be Muslim. That's what the Muslims who are having mass prayer in Times Square. Why you've got mosques all over the city. What kind of show of force and strength are you trying to muster here? That's what they say. They want every household to be Muslim. Yeah, you know it's miazious. Baptists want every household to be Baptists. It's just that they don't you know, they allowed to live and let live. They just tell you, hey, if you don't accept Jesus, you're going to Hell. But then they don't do anything about it. Yeah, they don't force it upon the people. Yeah, that is really the difference between Christianity and Islam. There is. Yes, as a Christian, I want every single person to come to the knowledge and saying grace of Jesus Christ. But I'm not going to tell you that if you don't convert, then I'm going to cut off your head. Right, I will tell you that you're going to go to Hell. I'm a fan of Ninety Day Fiance, Okay, I just love that show. You and my wife, man, you and my wife. You know what that I want to do a story on it. The GDP of Ninety Day Fiance. It's bigger than Law and Order, It's bigger than CSI. I mean, they've got and they stick with their you know, I've known some of these people now watching them for ten years, okay, and you don't have that in any other reality franchise. But anyway, why did I bring that up? Because oh, a woman, the mother of the American you know, you know, tells him, well, if you don't accept Jesus, you're going to go to Hell. And the bride's worrying, well, and he's from England and he's not religious at all, and the brides saying, well, if I'm in heaven and he's in hell, how are we going to be together? I mean, honey, that is so far away to worry about, you know. But yeah, it is a damning, kind rather arrogant view for Christians to think that you're going to hell. And I know they're trying to encourage people to accept Christ, but you're right. It's the non violent approach is so much more preferable, isn't it. It is? And I mean that's really the backbone of our country, the establishment of the Republic. I came across the stunning staff that you may already know, Caleb. Just the other day, I was doing research how many terrorist attacks by Muslims have there been on people in the world, and in the last I think twenty or forty years or something, it's thirty three thousand, and incidents, attacks, bombings, terrorists thirty three thousand, and Yet we're supposed to worry about Islamophobia that's not a phobia. A phobia is a what is it? It's an ungrounded fear. Yeah, there's a very real reason. For this, there is. And the extreme left would say that Christianity is a bigger danger, that Christianity is engaged in more violence throughout history than Islam, and just the fact, don't back it up. Spit in my face and tell me it's raining. They think they can get away with that, in part because they have most of the media on their side promulgating their message. I don't recognize the media anymore. I was a journalist for forty years, but Trump broke them, and now they've gone so far. They're so embarrassed that they cannot afford to skin it back. So a lot of them won't cover the Fauci hearings where we realize that Fauci was a lie and an ego megal of maniac and they don't cover any of that. But it's because they made him a god during their coverage of him. They embraced the bat theory over the Oh, there's a Wuhan virus lab right there where the virus began. Not the lab, Oh, absolutely not. They're so embarrassed that they now can't go back and admit that they're wrong. Okay, you're absolutely right. What's wrong with the state of Oregon and so many other states as well in this Union. I had to interrupt you, sir, but please keep going. Well, it's great to keep talking. Although it does occur to me that if this is a conversation rather than an interview, I should be doing a lot more listening. And I always aim to listen more than I speak. But then when you do video hits and you're don TV, you're kind of supposed to speak a lot. So where were we? Well, the whole Muslim is some thing. It really is a worry. And when you look at what's happened to the UK, I think they have thirty mayors or something or even more that are run by Muslim mayors. And I mean you look at Birmingham, Michigan, or you look at the Somalis in Minnesota. Just happened in Spain, sir, I mean Spain was just invaded. But why did our immigration czars make it okay for thousands of Somalis to all settle only in one area so much so that they can take over politically, and then some of them take part in literally billions of dollars in fraud. What the heck is going on there? And by the way, God bless Elon Musk. You know, I also wrote the book The Leadership Genius of Elon Musk and came out in early twenty twenty five, eleven Lessons of Elon for a better life and career. Okay, And thank god he came along and got involved in that election for twenty twenty four and opened up that platform to be the freest in the world and stop censoring thousands of views that millions of Americans the right to hear. Okay, because now you do have a chance to hear the truth. It's just that there's only one hundred million Americans on the X platform out of three hundred and forty million in the country, and yet that's the only place where you can get an unfiltered version. You can see all kinds of rival views. People think it's all conservative. My feed is filled with so many ridiculous liberal views, liberal politicians. I mean, there's plenty of pink haired liberals still skewing that algorithm at that company, and yet it is so much freer than anywhere else. We've got to get educated, you know, I save stuff in bookmark files. I cannot believe how much the climate change movement, the scam is being utterly dismantled and defenestrated. That means thrown out the window on the X platform. Some of the voices coming in with scientifically valid points just incredible. It's all been nothing more than a big wealth transfer. And look how the Republicans have a couple one hundred million I think or something in their campaign coffers and the Democrats had to put up their building to borrow fifteen million dollars. Yeah, I mean I want to go back to organ Actually say that's exactly that's exactly right. But yeah, I want to go back to Oregon. I mean, I'm here, I am I'm in Washington State. And I'm sure you've seen the news. I'm in Spokane, Washington. Spokane, Washington is currently on fire. There are three major fires, sixty five thousand plus people that have had to flee their homes. I think we're at almost eight hundred buildings homes that have been destroyed by this fire. Oregon experience is the same thing. It's because of the climate change. As you just pointed out, there's all this timber out here and we can't go in there, we cannot do forest management, we cannot log them. What's happening. It's because of the change agenda, and now we're experiencing wildfires every single year. Yes, and I have some amazing string in my book or honors on this incredible. Let me grab some of this and just unbelievable, how crazy some of this is. That you know my Elon book Less than eleven in my Elon book says, because they got it from Elon, is that the most the most likely outcome in life is the most ironic one, the most opposite of what you expected happened or tried to make happen. So these environmental REGs come in to protect the forest, but they then make it illegal to log the forest and take out logs that have fallen. Those logs that fall end up drying out and turn into kindle for fires. So these regulations are aimed at protecting trees. They lead to fires that if you go up in a plane, you can see that the fires stop at privately managed lawn lands because they're taking stuff out, But it's the government land that's protected to save the spotted owl. Because of that, you see the fires end up devastating. And today in Oregon, two out of every three trees are dying from bugs or fires. So that's one thing. So the opposite outcome of these regulations to protect the forest. The second thought is in the nineteen nineties is when they did all this in the Endangered Species Act and the no logging to save the spotted owl. Fourteen thousand birds, stupid fluffing birds. If you're not strong enough to survive, then go out of existence. Thousands of species go out of existence. You know, over the years anyway, ninety nine point nine percent of all species on Earth have gone out of existence. Why are we moving heaven and earth to save this stupid flupping bird. So fourteen thousand today twenty five hundred, all that devastation, forty thousand jobs in the timber industry, lost, men who have had entire life is never working, their kids not even seeing their fathers go to work. You know, social NGOs employed sixteen percent of the people in those county, of the men in those counties, because there's nothing else for them to do, all to save a bird that went down to twenty five hundred because of the barred out that came in and raped in pillage and took it over. You guys were arrogant and stupid to think you could control climate. But more than that, and the environment. More than that, you never cared but the bird anyway. You just wanted to stop logging because logging's bad. But here can you rent mean this Dennis too? By the way, I hate to interrupt here, but. Yes, these leftists, I thought they believed in evolution. I thought one of the main tenets of evolution was survival of the fittest. No, yeah, no, the leftists believe in survival of the lazy and that everybody gets an equal share equity, even though they didn't work for it. But here's the coda to all this. These wildfires put out carbon emissions. So the wildfires that are fueled by the environmental regulations, trying to say the environment, they put out carbon emissions in twenty twenty one. This is literally in a research paper an environmental journal came out in twenty twenty two. In twenty twenty one California wildfire season, it put out one hundred and twenty seven million metric tons of carbon emissions. How much is that. Well, in two decades of California carbon regulation, they saved sixty five million metric tons. That's half as much as the wildfires put out in a matter of weeks in the wildfire season. So all of those regulations and caps and restraints and mileage requirements and all of that was for nothing. And you, arrogant bastards, think that you can actually stop the environment from spewing carbon emissions into the air. It was for nothing. And then two years later, in twenty twenty three, it happened again, double the savings in two decades of carbon regulations. That is a lie to climate change. How stupid all of it is, how arrogant it is. The Earth is almost four billion years old. The thought that in one hundred years man has come along and utterly altered the future of the planet, had put it at risk in one hundred years. Oh my gosh, Bowl, and shame on you for being so arrogant as to believe that, and to argue that you were just feathering your own nest and getting billions and billions of dollars that you're bringing in and diverting over for a stupid cause that was never going to work anyway. I want to ask you a question something that a lot of people have been kind of beating their chests on. There's this mass migration movement that is occurring within these blue states where the Conservatives are moving out in droves. They're going to Florida, They're going to Tennessee, right, they're going to Texas. And the Conservatives the Republicans have been saying, man, this is going to make it to where you know, Washington, Oregon, California, they stay blue for ever, well, will never see any change. And yet with your research, you're pointing out that this candidate for governor in Oregon has a real shot that she's actually up in the points. Is it because the people, I guess because the Conservatives fled and it allowed the state to get even crazier than all of a sudden, people are like, no, we can't do this and these things. Well, here's the thing. It's not just conservatives that are fleeing. These are economic refugees, and liberals are just as hurt by their own liberal policies as conservatives are, and lots of them are leaving. In fact, what some red states are worried about is that the influx of these ridiculous libs are going to change their political context and that they end up voting in the same various same policies that they are fleeing. One example is look at in Texas. There's one to Austin, super blue, ridiculously blue, so much so that a conservative to mind, had to flee the city and move one hundred and twenty miles away because she was so sick of it. You know. In fact, even some liberals. One real estate guy I talked to had a liberal got our home and she wanted to move there because they're so blue. And then boom, a year and a half later, she says, put my house up for sale. I can't take it. It's ridiculous. I got to leave here. So liberals are leaving two and the economist Steve Moore came out with this number of in a ten year period into twenty twenty two, so it's even before Trump came back. Okay, collective income of two trillion dollars in that period moved from blue states boom into red states. Florida, where I moved to, was one point two trillion dollars of that two trillion dollars total. That's what conservative policies can do for an economy. You know, in Florida, the state budget has now gone down four years in a row, and they have a voter proposal in November to cut property taxes entirely on thirty percent of homes and then sixty percent a year later. Incredible stuff going on. And Oregon is going ahead in the wrong direction. Now. You talk to people there and you ask what will change it, and they say they talk about it like an addict. They say, you've got to hit total bottom, total humiliation. We haven't gone there yet. Now they're on their way, but there's a real pushback happening, and I'm hoping that my book can help feed it. Yeah, I would agree. I not just organon, I want to see it in Washington State as well. In fact, I would encourage you know, the bulk of my audience is going to be in Washington State. Hey, read this book, because the same principles that the author is applying to Oregon, they apply to Washington State as well. And perhaps we are, perhaps we're hitting that rock bottom to where people are they don't want to go to Seattle, they don't want to go to Portland because they don't feel safe, because they don't want to bring their kids around a bunch of drug addicts intents all over the place. I hope that I hope that the rock bottom doesn't hurt. I know it's going to hurt, but I hope that we're able to recover from it. I guess is what I'm trying to say. You know the thing that makes me an optimist, And let's remember that capitalism is optimism monetized. Okay, you invest because you believe in the future. And I'm optimistic about the ability for a city and a state to come back because the economy moves faster than ever before. Technological advances on the Internet and with AI give us more potential to catch up than ever before. Even in a market crash, you know, the big crash, in twenty nine. It took twenty years to get back. Okay, today you were covering two years because everything moves faster. Information is everywhere and the internet, so I'm optimistic about it. It's just that, yeah, that gets hard, and that gets hard on some people. You know, Oregon is controlled by the unions, and so even if they elect a Republican governor, the unions are really a big problem. And I'm not talking about private sector unions instruction or something like that. Do you know that private sector unions represent only seven percent of the private economy. Government unions represent forty percent of all government workers. Government workers should not have a union at all. You've got tax payer money. It's an utter conflict of interest. And I was told by a Democrat operative that in the fall, Seiu government union leaders walked into government cotech's office with a several inches thick book and says, here's your state budget for the next two years. And I've heard that when you are newly elected Democrat to the state legislature, your first day in office, the union shows up, here's your chief of staff. Unions are uncapped in their ability to donate to political campaigns. They gave six million to Tinacotec in twenty twenty two is more than any other sector. Now there's new caps coming in twenty seven, twenty twenty seven, but they're way too high. They're like you can give found thirty thousand dollars or something, or thirty five thousand dollars. I forget the figures. But they're trying to fix it. And still they are fixing it enough, and the unions are just going to bankrupt the state. I would completely agree.
