My Ghost Phone
I got tired of carrying a tracking device I paid for. I run a MARK37 Pixel 7a with GrapheneOS as my daily phone. This page is what I wish someone had told me before I clicked “buy.”

Here is what my ghost phone actually is...
- Used / near-mint Pixel, not a sealed Apple box
- Google’s OS pulled, GrapheneOS put on
- Unlocked, my SIM, my number
- They load a usable starter app set so you are not staring at a blank FOSS desert
- Starting price on the line is the “from $495” Ghost Phone range; 7a is the cheap daily driver
Wait if: you tap-pay for everything, you need Android Auto every day, or one obscure bank app is your whole life and you will not test it first.
How I Switched...
- Keep old phone on Wi-Fi
- Transfer contacts/SMS
- Set up Signal/email on the new one
- Move 2FA last
- Swap SIM when your ready to make calls

Here is what I can do with my Ghost Phone
- My day starts with me checking emails in Proton Mail which I have on my phone in place of Gmail
- I record podcasts through the Spreaker app on my phone and they go right to your ears. No problems with that.
- I read text messages from Signal and Quik
- I use Brave to log in to any APP that I thought I needed on my phone but don't want on my ghost phone anymore. YOU CAN DO SO MUCH THROUGH YOUR BROWSER!
- I never sign into YouTube and just watch the people I like and the new videos and creators that I never new existed because my
