Let's go ahead and bring on our guest. I am so thrilled to bring to you someone who should need no introduction. Chad Prather is a political cowboy, podcaster, humorist, philosopher, and a soul coach as well. Chad, it is a pleasure to have you on Church and State. Thank you for having me on, Caleb. I want to go back and listen to that Lindbergh episode. I'm kind of a student of that kind of stuff, man. And I want to hear that take on it because that's a wild story, right? It truly was, and she's written a book about it. She's actually quite a prolific author, but she reveals all the information, who she thinks did it, and the eugenics side of this that a lot of people aren't willing to talk about. So a fascinating interview for sure. I love that stuff, man. I did an episode of my show, well, one of my little shorts that I do in the afternoon called Noise Breaks, where last week I was talking about this Lindsay Clancy case that's going on and how women are finding solidarity between postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis, and we see that phenomenon that's going on. I made a correlation in it that talked about murder culture. We really have started binge-watching Like we can consume five murders a day if we're listening to our podcast or we're watching Netflix or whatever. And we forget that there's human beings underneath these stories that have been. And I said that that what this was my controversial take on this. I want to I'd love to hear what you got to say about it. I said that that murder culture and like crime story podcast, that type of genre has sort of become. to women. That's a dangerous thing to say, but it's become to women what pornography is to men, like it is an escape. And so what they've been able to do is they're able to empower the algorithm that causes people to go in that direction. And so anyway, it was an interesting discussion. And I think when you go back to the Lindbergh baby, kidnapping and murder, you're getting kind of, it was kind of a precursor to the things that we binge now, which is wild. You know, I really find that theory to be fascinating. Going with pornography, I remember when Dr. Dobson, when Ronald Reagan actually commissioned a panel to examine pornography, and they found that it was progressive, that people maybe start with more of the vanilla, if you will, but eventually that wouldn't tickle their fancy anymore, so they had to keep going. and getting more and more extreme. And obviously you can see that with pornography. So if we take that and look at what women, if women are actually looking at like the ID channel or whatnot, and they want more and more and more, it would make sense that now they're defending this woman who murdered her three children. And I just was, while we were, before we tuned in here and got together, I was reading three articles that are happening right now of basically copycat murderers because of this Lindsay Clancy thing. And now, so I'm curious to see, are we going to find a trend that's going to happen? We're going to see more and more of this. One case was a man who murdered his wife and claimed she killed herself in postpartum. So that doesn't really count. But man, this is not going to go away anytime soon, I don't think. I think we're about to see some wild, wild stuff. And the weird stuff, Caleb, is how people are going to be justifying it. That's the crazy part of it. No, I would completely agree. And obviously, you know, there's been a conversation that people want to have. You can see it in some of the darker circles. Where they kind of keep it quiet still. But they want to be able to murder their children, even out of the womb. There's conversations about up to five years old. You're seeing with more of these extreme cases. So I do see like the mainstream media rushing in and covering this story as a way to bring that conversation more to the table. Were these actually children? They can't take care of themselves because we are. We're a death cult. Yeah. So one of her children was, what, eight months old? And, you know, you back the timeline up, that baby's in the womb. That baby's free game in the state of Maine or Massachusetts, right? And Massachusetts, what, they just signed that deal, and I think it's already in eight, you know, where they loosely interpret it to say, you know, the physician, the professional health care provider can decide, help decide. Well, that's pretty loose, man, because I've talked to some doctors who are not A hundred percent. Like the fact that they get to open it up to interpretation of what is a viable human life and should be deemed necessary for, you know, a murder or as they call it, an abortion. And again, it's the progressive left has always been a murder cult. I mean, I don't care if it's eugenics, euthanasia. everything from the long-arm political side of the law with the KKK and Jim Crow to now abortion. I mean, they're a murder cult. There's no doubt about it. They don't love life. I mean, all the way to the point of chopping the genitalia off of children and normalizing homosexual behavior, which can't procreate anyway. So, again, it's a perverted society that we live in, but to laugh at, launder, and normalize the things, as you said— that just have to progressively get worse and worse and worse because there's no limit to the depravity. Yeah, I would definitely agree with that. And this is something that actually bothers me on the Republican side of things. I want to get your take on this because we have to draw the line in the sand. And for me, being pro-life is probably the most important thing. Other than spreading the gospel, we have to protect life no matter what. And I get so tired of these Republicans under this big tent structure where it's like, well, You know, they may be a little bit. Soft on abortion. Now, if you're going to have an R behind your name, you have to be supporting pro-life from literally womb to tomb. And I get so tired, Chad, of these. Well, in the cases of rape or incest or if the mother's life is at stake, I'm a former EMT. I can tell you that. That's like. 00001 %. The mother's life might be at risk. And most of the time, that's an ectopic pregnancy, which isn't even viable. But what are your thoughts on that one? Well, they're going to keep redefining the language in order to justify what they do. I have four adult children. All four of them were prematurely born. They were pregnant. you know, far enough along that there was a healthy enough delivery and a little neonatal care and they were fine, right? We had watched them. But I mean, you're talking about viable human life. And then the argument of when life begins, if you found that clump of cells, if you found a clump of cells on Mars, they would spend trillions of dollars to protect that life on another planet. But here it's a protoplasmic blob. It's a clump of cells. It's It's a fetus, whatever words they can use to redefine the culture around something. But at the end of the day, Caleb, what I believe is we were founded on the principles that a moral people could govern themselves. Well, when you stop being a moral people, and that morality did find its basis in a Christian ethic, when you stop being a moral person with that type of ethic, Well, the depravity of the heart's going to come in. The depravity of man's going to come in. Man's inhumanity to man, which has been seen throughout history, is going to be seen. And now to enjoy the grace and providential hand of God that's protected this nation now for 250 years longer, really, you're basically thumbing your nose at God. And you say, well, there's not going to be any consequences for this. And you're fulfilling Galatians chapter 6, where he says, you know, be not deceived. God is not mocked. Whatsoever you sow, that will you also reap. We are going to reap the consequences for that. And unfortunately, the Republicans or those who claim to be conservatives who have been soft on this issue are to the tune of a million unborn babies a year being murdered, you know, in the most, should be the most protective place in the world, their mother's womb. they're going to give an account. And we who. Have stood beside and or stood aside and watched this transpire in the way that it has. And when I say that, when I say we, I'm talking about even the pro-life groups, because the pro-life groups, there's a lot of pro-life groups out there. And this does not make me any friends. And I don't get invited back to the speaking engagements. And I'm OK with that. But there's a lot of pro-life groups out there. They don't want to see abortion abolished because that would take away their fundraising. That would take away their ability to continue to exist. They need abortion to continue to function as an organization. And so I've seen songs pitched. I've seen promotions pitched. I've seen all kinds of ideas pitched to some of these. And you know what they do? They give it a thumbs down. We don't want to go that route. We don't want to say those things. We don't want to do that. So it's the same with the politicians. The politicians need this debate because it helps them raise money. And that's a disgusting world we live in where money ultimately becomes the arbiter of good and evil. Yeah, you're right once again. So I love the fact that you're going to throw those stones. And if you don't get invited back, so be it. You have a platform. You're going to speak the truth. And that's what matters here. And if there is organizations out there, politicians, whoever it is, that claim one thing and they like the rhetoric, and we see this so oftentimes in politics, they embrace the rhetoric. But when they get out there and they can actually pass legislation, they won't do it. And we see this time and time again. And I think that's really been leading to a lot of frustration within the political system and why so many people are feeling betrayed by both parties. Yeah, they do, and I'm fatigued with all of it. It's one of the reasons why a year ago, almost a year and a half ago, I really started to go in another direction and speak a little more faith-based and how ultimately our Christian faith should be affecting culture and politics. Because I was like, I could call it out until I'm blue in the face. I mean, blood, sweat, and tears. I can grunt and grovel and have a fit on camera constantly and come up with my base takes and say all this stuff. But at the end of the day, it's not changing anything. We know the next election cycle, which is the most important election. Of our lifetime. It's not going to change anything. It's not going to change anything. Because we continue to put people in there who... Don't understand the concept of delegated authority anymore. They've become despots and little dictators. They sit on the throne of me, myself, and I. And all they are is self-serving politicians. They say publicly that they disagree, but it's nothing more than kayfabe WWE nonsense. They get out of the ring and they go eat steak together. And so I'm sick of all of the things, man. And, you know, that administration, this administration, theirs, ours, it's all turned into a bunch of garbage. The political doublespeak is ridiculous. People are tired of it. And I just said, you know who hasn't failed me is Jesus, so I'm going to talk about him. I got to tell you, I love that. And I love as well the most important election. I make fun of that every two years because every two years it's the most important election of our lifetime. And it's just like, my goodness, just stop. Stop with this rhetoric. But I love the fact that your emphasis is on Jesus because that's the truth. That's the way we know that as believers. And we should be talking about this and we should be living that out. And I want to turn the conversation over towards the church because the church really has an opportunity. But once again, even I mean, talking about what's going on politically, a lot of these churches don't want to dive into this. You don't want to actually live by the teachings of Jesus. Yeah, they don't. I'll tell you something, and I'll allude to something else that maybe we can talk about later, but I'll just toss it in there. You know, I've been doing comedy for 20 years and going around the country and doing stand-up comedy. For the longest time, people would identify me as a modern-day Will Rogers. You know, I had the cowboy hat and the Western background, and I was the humorist, and they had the political takes and all of that and sort of tongue-in-cheek. And I got to a point where I said, you know, comedy is messed up, The church is messed up. All these places that we should be exercising real free speech, both of them have been so watered down. So you go in the comedy house and you got comedians that we're seeing a little trend back the other way. But for the longest time, we had to deal with comedians that were more interested in applause than they were in laughs. And they were afraid of getting canceled or offending somebody. And then you go into the church house and you got preachers that got to make sure that the tithes and the offerings continue to come in. And so they became, quote, seeker sensitive. and making sure that the truth, you know, we can get close to the truth. And we dance around it a little bit, but we don't really want to dive in and hurt anybody's feelings. And so consequently, the places where we really ought to be the most bold in what we're saying from a platform, both of those have been watered down in a powerful way. So. We got a lot of work in front of us in terms of getting back to saying the truth and telling people the truth. And the thing is, when I tell somebody the truth, they want to label that hate speech. And I've just gotten used to the fact that that's what they're going to call the truth. It's hate speech. And they're going to label me everything from a xenophobe to a homophobe to a misogynist to a bigot to a racist, a fascist, a Nazi, all the things. And I've just said, you know, oh, what is it now? I'm Christian nationalist. I'm a white supremacist James Tallarico running for Senate in Texas just said that that if we don't understand that that Christianity Judaism and Islam are all part of the same Abrahamic tree then we're just a bunch of Christian nationalists and an ultimately white supremacist and I'm like, you know if that's what you're gonna call me in order to for me to defend the Exclusivity and the specificity of truth, then I'll take the name and the moniker. You can call me whatever you want to call me I'm still gonna tell the truth and But here's the thing. If you're running towards the cliff and you're going to die by going driving off of that thing, it would not be very loving or compassionate for me not to tell you to stop. If I got the truth and I don't tell you the truth, if you can get rid of a cancer, if I've got the cure for a cancer that you've got and I don't tell you the truth about what you've got to stop and what you've got to correct and what you've got to do now, that's not compassionate. So truth and love, mercy and justice, you can't separate those two things. If I take truth away from compassion. it's not compassionate anymore. And if I take love away from the truth, it's not truth anymore. So I got to have a balance of those things. Mercy and justice find themselves in the cross of Jesus. You take one away and it's no longer the cross of Jesus. You got to have both of them. And in fact, the Bible said it's where mercy and truth kissed. So we got to get back to that. And you know, To the haters, the haters be damned, if you will. I'm not preaching another gospel to make another person feel comfortable because they've created a narrative or an ideology or put an agenda out there and now created a theology to support their political philosophy. I'm not going to do it. The Apostle Paul says in Galatians 1, he says, I wish that they were cut off. Like literally I wish that those circumcisors he says I wish that they were they just go ahead and cut the whole thing off Just all the genitalia. He's like just slip of the knife there He said, if you find your spirituality in the agenda of cutting your flesh, he said, just cut it all off. I mean, go ahead. But he says, if you preach another gospel, I don't care if it comes from a man or from an angel. He said, may you be anathema, accursed, just wiped out. And so I'm just going to keep on trying to tell the truth. And if it hurts people's feelings, I guess it does. I really do love people. But doggone it, we got to tell people the truth, man. I mean, amen to that. You know, we are told to go and take this gospel message to the ends of the earth. That is Jesus's instructions. And so for me, I don't care if you're a Muslim, a Jew, a Hindu, a Buddhist, a secularist, you know, an atheist. I'm going to tell you that Jesus is the way and that no one comes to the Father but through him. And if that's offensive to you, sorry, that's my faith. And that's the truth. Think about this, Caleb. To say Christianity is exclusive, people say, no, that is so narrow-minded. You know, Jesus says, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. Nobody comes to the Father unless they come through me. It's so exclusive. You guys are so narrow-minded. No, it's actually the most inclusive message that's out there because it says anyone can come. I don't care if you are all the things you just listed off. Anyone can come. You can be a communist. You can be a socialist. You can be a capitalist. You can be a Buddhist, a Muslim. You can come from any walk of life. You can be a Democrat. You can be a whatever. You can still come to Jesus. You can repent and come back. And everyone's welcome and everybody's equal at the level ground at the foot of the cross. That's the beauty of it. I think that's the most inclusive message that there is. I would completely agree with that. And unlike any of the other world religions out there, there's only one requirement. Like Jesus is the son of God. He died for my sins. Okay, there we go. You know, you're in. You can walk through the gates of heaven, you know, like he's your defender now. And you look at Islam or any of the other ones, like it's restriction and regulation one after the other. And you're never even sure if you're going to reach an or reach heaven. Right. Well, every religion out there has the philosophy of do. I've got to do something. Christianity is done. Christ has done something. And now I can rest on the of what Christ has done. And the beauty of that is we've been working through the book of Romans in my morning podcast, our little hour-long devotional that we do called Before the Noise. And we got, you know, tens of thousands of people tuned into that every morning, which is amazing that that many people are coming into a Bible study. But we've been working through the book of Romans, and we started in Romans chapter 5 today that talks about All that God has done for us in Christ in light of all the things. We were enemies of God. We were sinners. You know, we were turned over to the lust of the flesh. None of our lips had poison and our tongue spoke evil and our feet were swift to run towards evil. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But in Christ, he has declared us not guilty, justified us, not just forgiven us, but imputed unto us the righteousness of Christ. So here we are. guilty. And the judge comes down. The judge doesn't just say, okay, well, I'm feeling in a good mood today. We're just going to wipe it away. No, the judge comes down and takes on the sentence. I received freedom because the judge took the penalty. And I'm like, wow. I mean, who doesn't want that message? But unfortunately, that's hate speech in this day and age. Well, Jesus said, you know, if the world hated him, they're going to hate his followers and count me as that. And so, like you said, you can call me any name in the book. Fine. But you know what my response is? Jesus's blood covers that, you know, covers all my sins. And I'm so thankful for that. By the way, I just got to add, you're in Romans. I can't wait for you to get to one of my favorite passages. And as a cowboy, I know you're going to love this. But Romans 14, 2, I love to bring it up to people because it says, The week eat only vegetables. And boy, do I have fun with that one. You know, that's fun. I get a lot of people go over to before the noise dot com and they send me messages and on the contact page and I get some wild theological ideas. Like I get a lot of people who are pretty adamant on some things. So, yeah, we'll definitely have fun with that one. We're also going to have fun in the spots in Romans where it talks about those who were predestined for destruction, who were basically made to be a vessel of dishonor, which is a toilet. We're going to have a lot of fun with that. And I'm on record quite a bit talking about the Christian relationship with the Jew, you know, and Paul's interpretation of that. Most people think they know what all that says, but they don't. And I'm a big proponent of it's grace. It's not about race. And I'm a big. Believer in grace. So we're going to have a good time talking about those things. All right. You just kicked a hornet's nest, Chad. You did. I mean, this is fun. I told you before the show. That I'm a Lutheran and that I believe in covenant theology. And I completely agree with what you just said. It's grace, not race. And that is a big issue and one that a lot of people are starting to talk about right now because they're kind of tired of, you know, once again, getting more into that political side of things. They're kind of getting tired of getting dragged into wars and all these things. And Americans are like, what happened to America first? But it's, I believe, part of it, a big part of it, is that in my opinion, lie of dispensationalism versus that covenant theology. And yeah, we need to be taking that gospel message to everyone, Jews included. A hundred percent. Like I said a minute ago, and everybody is level ground at the foot of the cross. You don't come. Now, Paul says the Jew had an advantage. The Jew has an advantage because it was given to them the promises, the covenants, the prophets, all of the law, all those things. And he said, you of all people should have recognized, but you didn't. Like you had an advantage and you turned your nose up at that. And so I've been on record for a long, long time, and I've made a lot of people mad to the people who listen. I get accused all the time of being, you know, some whatever the phrase is, a simp for Israel or whatever else. And it's like, no, I'm just telling you I'm preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. And a lot of people think just because you're preaching the gospel, you must be one of those who falls into the dispensational category. I don't. I am reformed and covenant in my theology. I believe that the kingdom of God is here now. I believe the kingdom of God is coming in a greater manifestation ultimately until it's completely fulfilled at the end. But I also believe that we are seeing the church that may look weak and emaciated right now, who is the bride of Christ, is ultimately going to find her fulfillment. In the earth, growing larger and larger and overcoming and becoming more powerful and spotless as the bride of Christ. You know, obviously, we don't believe that that full fulfillment is going to happen in this lifetime. Obviously, everything will be made perfect when we see him face to face. We'll be like him as he is. But see, I don't see the church as being some weak, emaciated, powerless body. you know, harlot that's out there. No, I believe Jesus is redeeming his church, bringing her into a place of power where kingdom expression is going to be manifest and fulfilled in the earth more and more, growing bigger and bigger to the ends of the earth, as you alluded to earlier. And Jesus said, listen, all authority has been given me on heaven and on earth. And go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them and teaching them all that I've commanded you. And then he says, lo, I'm with you always, even to the end of the age. So he hasn't left us. He hasn't forsaken us. The power is there. The opportunity is there. And then you got people out there preaching all these crazy things out there, like somebody's got some kind of special advantage or some closer relationship. you know, connection to God because of their bloodline. I don't care. You know, you might have gotten your passport from Tel Aviv, but it doesn't mean somebody stamped it and says, you got an eternal pass. You don't. You still got to come to Christ. And then on the political side of things, you get sick and tired of feeling like, you know, you're being controlled by foreign entities, whether it's Israel or whatever. And I've said over and over again, no, I don't like Israel's government, but I don't like our government either. So it's pretty equal in regards to that. I'm pretty anti-government at this point. Just ask the IRS. They hate my guts. They think I owe them a lot of money. And according to their standards, I do. But I'm like, you know, what are you going to do? I mean, take me to jail. You know, taxation is theft. I don't want to pay you taxes. I definitely don't want to pay Israel's taxes. I don't want to pay Israel for their wars and their fights. And I don't want to get involved in it. And I don't want to see bloodshed. Uh by american sons and daughters because of something somebody else has gotten themselves in the middle of but here we are In this constant dilemma and we just go whistling in the park like everything's going to be okay You know just last week we crossed over 40 trillion dollars in debt We're spending a two trillion dollar deficit and it's like oh you think you're coming back from that Definition of insanity And we're not coming back from that And and it's and we just we're just out there with our heads buried in the sand like we're not supposed to say anything about it It's crazy. It truly is. It is what you just said is the definition of insanity. And the most the vast majority of Americans were distracted. The bread and circus were not paying attention to any of this within a lot of the religious circles, as you just pointed out, like, hey, you know, God's chosen people. We got to protect them no matter what. And I'm right with you. And it's not even Israel. There's nothing anti-Semitic. I hate that when people come in there and try to accuse me of that. And I'm sure you're getting that also. But I don't want to be in Ukraine. I didn't want to be in Iraq. There's all these different things. I don't want to be involved with Iran right now. I want to start focusing on America first. Because we've got a lot of problems in our country. We've got to start fixing this. I mean, just the infrastructure alone, the amount of bridges that are that could collapse at any moment because nobody has gone in and repaired those. Let's start doing stuff like that. So I was blown away at the technology and what those things are capable of. And I'm a big fan of it. I love that. Yeah, you can get a phone for less than 500 bucks. I mean, it's like 490 or something like that. So, yeah, it's some great technology. I wanted to go back into something else that you said, because I love diving into the controversial. And you say, you know, people are really going to enjoy when you got into Romans and you started talking about vessels, which, of course, leads to the conversation of Calvinism versus Arminianism, you know, that free will. Are we predestined? Go ahead. Just have fun with that one. Well, I, you know, I went to the University of Georgia and then I'm way more educated than what my, you know, to look at me and listen to me. I've gotten a lot of formal education in my life went to university of georgia got some degrees and then i went to seminary and uh did that we called it cemetery because it's you got to be careful with that kind of deal when the bible becomes a textbook a little bit But I grew up in the Reformed tradition. I grew up with a Calvinist mentor, spiritual father, and pastor, and taught me the deep riches of grace. And I grew up finding great freedom in that, the sovereignty of God, believing that ultimately God has the final word. God didn't grab me and drag me, kicking and screaming across the threshold into my faith or into the kingdom of heaven. And I'm thankful that he perseveres the saints because I spent a long period of time in my adult life looking for reality in a lot of places where there was none and finding out that sin is the selfish, independent negation of the will of God. And it leads you nothing. nowhere but to destruction. And it. Happens very frequently when you're pursuing that path. In fact, I've got a new song I'm going to put out. I was just working on it today. It's a bluegrass song about something that I've heard my whole life. My pastor used to say, Sin will take you further than you want to go. It'll keep you longer than you intended to stay, and it'll cost you more than you wanted to pay. And I lived that life, man. So I'm thankful for the perseverance of the saints where God sovereignly brings us back through the beauties of grace. And I'm a living trophy of grace. I used to say when I was at the University of Georgia, living on the 10th floor of Russell Hall, go Dawgs. I said, you know, grace abounds to the chief of centers on the 10th floor of Russell Hall in Athens, Georgia. Grace did abound, man. God was so good to me. The Lord spoke to me a couple years ago and said, I made so many investments in you as a young man. I'm about to make a lot of withdrawals. He's been doing that, and I'm thankful that he is because the fruit and blessing has come out of it. The idea that men have a choice in this thing, this whole free will. People are, well, thank God he gave us free will. Yeah. And I've always chosen poorly. Like I've always been really bad at choosing. Like I've always chosen things that lead me to death and destruction. I've chosen things that lead me to divorce and depravity. I've chosen things that have caused my life to get broken and to be impoverished. Things that have caused rebellion in me. I'm a poor chooser. And I said to the Lord a long time ago, I said, please do my choosing for me because I pretty much suck at it. And those things that I choose are not well. So I'll gladly surrender my free will, so-called. I saw what it did for Adam and Eve. In fact, I'm teaching. We're hosting our men's retreat. We do two men's retreats, two more this year out in Texas. Got about 60 guys who come in. And one of the things, our teaching session that I'm going to do online, Saturday morning with the guys. We're actually going to live stream it on my Rumble and YouTube pages, and all my socials actually, Chad Prather pages. We're going to live stream it. I'm going to do a teaching on the word with, just the word with. And it's from Genesis chapter 3, verse 6, where Adam and Eve, you know, we see the old stories of Eve. She's getting tempted by the serpent. You know, she's standing there and her long hair is strategically covering her breasts. And she's got the bush in a strategic place. And she's standing there alone while the serpent leads her, you know, into temptation and deception. And then Adam's not there. But that's not what Genesis 3, 6 says. It says she gave it to the man who was there with her. So the sin for Adam wasn't that he ate. It was that he abdicated. He didn't speak up. He knew what God had said. And when the serpent said, has God surely said to you? Yeah, he knew he didn't step up and speak. And so I know what free will gets me. It gives me abdication. It causes me to choose against the God that loves me this much. And so I'm always more than happy to talk about the doctrines of grace, man, because I see where the doctrines of free will go and it's never good. And that makes a lot of people mad, which I don't understand why it does, but it definitely does. No, I'm right there with you. I'm in complete agreement. You know, as a Lutheran, I believe in predestination. And, you know, I mean, I love what you're talking about with Adam and Eve. But I also go towards David, who, you know, this is a man who's choosing murder, choosing adultery. And yet he said he's a man after God's own heart. It's because God chose him and God covered him through exactly what you're talking about, through grace. that's, to me, Chad, is something so comforting that there's nothing that I'm going to do that's going to separate me from God. Yeah. We were talking this morning out of Romans chapter 5, as I alluded to earlier, and he says that, you know, now in light of all the first four chapters, all the sin and depravity, he uses Abraham and his examples, as Abraham believed And he believed God. It doesn't say he believed in God. He believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. He believed a God who said, you're going to come out of this land. You're going to go to a place where I'm going to show you. He didn't lay out the GPS map system for him. He just said, you're going to go, and you're going to follow. You're going to do what I tell you to do. And Abraham's basically like, okay, you're going to make my descendants like the stars of the sky. I'm a hundred years old. I'm basically dead. My wife, she's basically dead. Her womb is definitely dead. And out of that, the promises of God, just believing the promises of God, it was accredited to him for righteousness. And Paul says, therefore, since we have seen this righteousness through faith, that faith in those promises that God makes, I rest in those promises because I don't have faith in faith. I have faith in God. I know his nature. I know his character. And I know how powerful and sovereign he is. And he says, now in that grace, we're going to stand. Not pick yourself up, not wallow in it, not crawl and kneel. We're going to stand. And it's standing in grace is where ultimately we're going to find true maturity when we're going through all these things in life. Because Paul says, listen, you're going to suffer. Suffering is going to lead to endurance. Endurance is going to lead... to character, character is going to lead to hope. And if you're not standing in grace, you're not going to understand that Christian maturing process. You won't be able to interpret the suffering in the right way. So you're right. It does hold us in a blanket of security that is amazing. And here's the thing. Somebody sent me a message the other day. They said, how do I witness to a Jew? And I said, with the gospel. It is that simple. Because there's not a different gospel for the Jew. There's not. Paul defines the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15 as being the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He said, if those things aren't true, then we are of all people to most be pitied. So ultimately, the gospel, and he literally says, this is the gospel, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's a proclamation from a place of victory. It's a man who reads the newspaper and says, The war is over. We won. It's victory day. Okay, so now I'm going to go out. Kerygma, I'm going to preach. I'm going to proclaim that gospel. That's a stand-up message to you preachers that want to sit on stools and read off your iPad. It's a stand-up message that proclaims and says, we won. Okay. So if we won, then now I can find my place in God's big story, his meta narrative, if you will, which is something that's been lost because men don't find themselves in a story anymore because they don't know who they are. They don't know where they came from. They don't know where they're going and they don't know what they're leaving behind. And so if you can do all that and find yourself captured by grace, secured by grace, standing in grace, man, that takes all the pressure off of me. I don't have to talk you into Jesus. I don't have to debate you into Jesus. I don't have to convince you into Jesus. I don't care if you're Jew, Gentile, barbarian, or slave, or son. It doesn't matter. All I got to do is proclaim the gospel and let grace do the work. And that is an amazingly freeing message. It certainly is. And there's a lot of misinformation. There's a lot of confusion when it comes to this issue. A lot of the people on the more free will side of things will say, well, well, then you're saying we're just robots. And no, like, yes, free will does exist. Nobody's claiming that it doesn't. I can I can pick up my my Brondo cup. and drink it because it has electrolytes, right? And that's what plants crave. And I made that choice. But what we're talking about is God chooses whom he chooses. He chooses certain people to be his servants. Expand on that, please, for the audience, because I know there's confusion here. You know, if I. If I got a scratch on the record and I put the needle on the record and I just keep playing and it keeps going, you know, and I keep listening to it. Well, it's still a record. It's just a broken record. And so sin has so marred my nature that I became a broken record. It perverted my praise. It perverted my communion. It perverted my voice, my purpose, my meaning, my destiny, my identity. It marred literally everything about me. So no, I'm not a robot. I'm still free to choose. The problem is my chooser is broken. I'm a broken record. That fundamental aspect about me that wanted God, that wanted to live in the garden in communion with God. It says that when God came walking in the cool of the day, looking for Adam, he couldn't find him. The word there in the cool of the day, it's a beautiful Hebrew word, which means he came walking in the breath of the day. He was literally coming in. To breathe on Adam, he breathed life into him when he was created. Every day, God was coming to disciple Adam by breathing life into him again. He was breathing life into his mind, into his heart. The sin caused Adam to run and hide. So now, God still comes looking. You know, the prodigal son's father, he's on the porch in Luke 15. He's still looking. He's looking at the horizon. But there's something about us sons that want to keep running to the far country, that place of forgetfulness of the father's house, where we can get a little proximity distance between us And our father and his authority, and we want to declare autonomy and abdicate. And we're happy to go live in the pig slop until we wake up one day. And as it says in Luke 15, we come to ourselves and he says, I will arise and I will go back to my father's house. And, you know, there even the servants have enough to eat and to spare. I'm going to arise and go back to my father's house. That's the beautiful picture of repentance. Until we come to a place of repentance, you might have free will. But your free willer is broke. You are a broken record and you are hiccuping through life. And so I just point to all the things we alluded to earlier. The murder of unborn babies. And these are extreme examples. Genocides. You know, all the things that you see in the headlines right now. wars and, you know, infanticides and eugenics and just people hating people. I mean, you see a clip or you go online and it's like, well, this is covered up for violent content. A guy's walking out of the store yesterday, turns around and empties a clip in a girl's head that he doesn't even know. See, that's the depravity of sin. We may not be as evil as we possibly can be, you and me, Caleb, but that cancer cell is still residing in us. We have the capability of becoming, potentially becoming, just as evil as anybody else. And so therefore, but for the grace of God, go I. Well, thankfully, that key phrase, the grace of God is what's keeping us from that. It's definitely not my free will. Because left to myself, you'd have sex with everybody that you could have sex with. Somebody gets in your way, road rage now becomes murder. I mean, there's no parameters for it. Who's to say anything is good or evil? Because there's no standard anymore. Because left to my own devices, I'm only going to choose evil. That's what Romans 3 destroys that concept. There is none righteous, no, not one. So if there's none righteous, then there's certainly nobody making a righteous choice. I think that's so incredibly well said. Chad, I could talk to you for hours, but we've hit the end of the show here. We'll have to have you back for sure.
