What do people want anymore? PBN family. Please. Listen to my words today, but give me your own take on this very simple, but really very important question. Do you know what I mean? What do people actually want? I have a theory, but it's... I don't want to spill it just yet. What do people want? This day and age. I'm not saying this in a cynical manner. But I am saying it in a cynical manner. But I'm also saying it in a legitimate question form. Like what do people want? You get out into the world. This is one of the reasons I love living near people. You know what I mean? I look at them. I see them. I watch them. I took a woman's breath away by letting her through the supermarket door today. And it reminded me of the fact that the... middle-aged ladies are not middle-aged ladies anymore they're like the seniors from my high school you know what I mean when I first got to high school it's a weird thing that happens to you you start to get older you know you're thinking old lady is always an old lady and then you the older you get you start to realize the old ladies are just you know adjacent but anyway well the reason the reason I bring that up is because I in when you used to hold a door For someone in their 50s, 60s, it was like, this is nice because this is a touch of something that I remember when I was young. And it's nice to have the door held for me in a society where chivalry is dying. And what I started to think about was the fact that we're going to reach a point where all the old ladies grew up at a time when chivalry was dead or dying. And might not even expect those kinds of things. And I was wondering when I moved out of the way. It was very just, it was not an epic gesture. It was not a heroic gesture by any stretch. Right? It's hot out. Here comes a woman. Through the doorway, I just moved out of the way and let her in. But she was literally hand on the chest taken aback. at the fact that I would inconvenience myself for a matter of 10 seconds in total to let her get in the door first before, you know, me leaving. And it got me to thinking, what do people really want in this life? What is the average person being exposed to? Because I don't know necessarily what I tolerate and don't tolerate in the world. Um, but I just grew up maybe in and around people. The one thing about growing up in and around tough people in a tough society, like outside of Philadelphia is that people will call you out. You know what I mean? And there's a lot of benefits to that. Like people will call you out, right? You, you slam the door on an old lady. It's some, you know, middle-aged Italian dude catches you like you're going to hear it. You know what I mean? And it's not going to be fun. Um, Do people want that, though? Do people want that old way? I think they do, and they're afraid to admit it because they think it'll depower their segment of the population that gives them power. It'll depower their grievance faculty. Do you know what I mean? For some reason, I feel like there's a segment of the male population. This works across the board. You know what I mean? But there are always segments of the population. that seem to, like, vampiric in how they feed off their group's grievance, right? And the power they get from the grievance, they don't want to give up even for the niceties of society, even for me to hold the door for you, even for me to pull the chair out, whatever the situation is, right? Like, I don't want that because then it takes away from the power I've accrued for virtually nothing, just for the sake of my you know, skin color, gender, whatever, right, whatever makeup design, you know, men are falling into the trap too lately a lot, they're falling into this grievance trap, I see a lot of, and look, it is what it is, you know, it is a crazy time to be a dude, there's no doubt about it, you know, the best thing a man can do, you want to know, a young man, the best thing you can do take my advice just study study study study spend time adjacent with girls be friends with girls if you can particularly if you're not like you know trying to mate with everything that walks but like have girlfriends good ones so you can learn about what girls really are and study the opposite sex man you can do this you know what I mean you can definitely do this this is not hard I did it when I was 14, 15 years old. I mean books. I mean read about them. You know what I mean? Read their words. Look for books with their words in them. Things that they say. And then find a woman to marry her. And get out of all of it as quickly as possible. You know what I mean? Seek out a girl that, well, you know, the best piece of advice I can give you when it comes to marriage is marry someone who's ready to work hard that's it if you want to get married for life right if you really want to get married you want to be married for life happily married for life successfully married right you want to have a successful marriage first of all you better not be a bum if you're a bum then you need to learn how to work hard uh and then uh you need to marry a woman like like if you're if you're hung up on two girls and one is stunning But she's lazy. And the other one is not as stunning as the other one. But she's willing to work hard. Like, dude, don't make the error. You know what I mean? If you're in this sort of shallow pool of thinking, there's much more to life than looks. But you know what I'm saying. A woman who is willing to work hard is the kind of woman who, you know, 15 years in is going to go, ooh. We got kids and dogs and jobs and the parents are croaking and everything's going bad and you just lost your job. And now whatever kind of hell life throws at you, not only is that woman going to stick around, but she's going to mend with you. She's going to mend the relationship. And I'm telling you right now, there are people out there who are going to throw in the towel. They're going to say, like, this is too much damn work. I don't even want these kids, let alone this husband. You know what I'm saying? I mean, we all know that now to be true. We've seen some of the darkest expressions of that in the modern society, right? So what do people want in life? Do they want to get married? I think people do. I think people still want to have a person and get married. And, you know, when I hear people talk about, oh, I don't never want to be held down. I hear coping. You know what I mean? I hear copium. I hear the coping message. That is, I don't, this could be a laziness thing. This could be, I don't want to take care of somebody, but I'd love somebody to take care of me. Right? Like, lazy. Or probably more common than lazy is, I can't get hurt if I don't try, baby. I don't have to worry about getting my heart cut out if I never give it away. And look, that's the saddest existence of all. You know what I mean? Because that is the deathbed nightmare. That's what you're putting into... If you live your life that way, you're putting yourself into a position for an absolute deathbed nightmare. And it's just going to be terrible by all accounts. So trust me when I tell you. You have to get your heart ripped out. It's just part of the game. I don't know how else to say it. That is the rub of life, folks. I had to stop into my favorite cafe. The Dissolving Cafe. The dissolving cafe is upon me, folks. It's... It. Just is what it is. It is happening. There's a cafe I sat at. I'll tell you the name in about a year. No. What? Nine, eight, nine months. I'll tell you all about it. There was a cafe that I spent the last, poof, ten? How many? I don't know, man. Maybe the last. Jake's done five. Ten. Gotta be ten. Maybe eleven years. Uh. Sitting in. Sitting in this cafe man. Watching the world. Watching my world unfold through the big glass pane windows. Okay. Sneak over there during the day. Writing books. Writing blogs. Doing my thing. You know what I mean? Editing podcasts from time to time. And uh. So many things have happened in that little cafe, but the whole idea, the whole thing behind it was... you know it was directly across the street from my kid's school and because of that I could sit there and I could wait for the bell to ring and recess to come and I could watch you know what I mean the the the playground was invisible from the window and I could just sit there and watch like a creep I could watch my kid run around and play you know when my youngest started school he would walk around by himself he just was the most miserable I mean he he really did hate school with a passion he's since made lots of friends but you know there was just a time in his life where he hated leaving the house and hated going to school more than anything and uh you know, I'd watch it. I'd watch it. And sometimes, you know, after a while, the kids know, so they'll come to the fence. They'll look, they'll look across the street to find your vehicle. And then they'll come to the fence and wave at the big glass pane. And every so often they would call me over and, uh, I would go over there and they would say, pick me up. And I would, one of the beautiful things about my youngest is whenever I'd pick him up, um, He would always say, let's go get Carter. It seems like every time, you know what I mean? I'd pick him up early, and he would say, let's go get Carter. And it was just so nice of him to do, particularly when Carter was in a different school. So he's in a new school altogether, and he's like, let's drive over and get him so he can come home too. And, yeah, what a quality to have in this age of self-absorption. There are beautiful people in the world, though. There's no doubt about it. There are just absolutely beautiful people left in the world. I think for the most part, everybody's just kind of overwhelmed. You know, I said it for years. I said you're probably maximally overwhelmed by 10 a.m., you know, if you're in your cell phone or listening to podcasts or, you know, whatever, working plus, right? If you're doing one of these jobs where you're working plus or driving people around, kids to school, coming home, doing housework, if you're a house wife or house husband or whatever, if you don't work, then, you know, you're one, you're probably at the point where you're just completely maxed out by the wars and the viruses and the And the news and the economy and this one and oh my God, guess who died? You wouldn't believe it. And that one died and this one had a baby and people you'd never know from a million years but have captivated you, right? This show's going off the air, whatever will you watch. and you're... And if you're a man, it's even worse because you're driving around in a world where... I don't know how else to say it. The temptation for the average man is uncanny. It really is. I find myself wondering, could it get worse? Can it ever be crazier than it is right now for the average man? You wake up in the morning... Turn on the television. There's a lady on the television in an ad and she's talking about her boobs in her bra. And this is how this bra works. And she's shaking her boobs in the television screen. I'm not even exaggerating. Like I literally saw this commercial. Then I saw another one with a lady jumping on in her underwear, jumping on a trampoline like the man show. But it's a commercial about underwear. You're watching the morning news. You know what I mean? You're watching them. You open the phone up. Heaven forbid you open the phone up. You open the email up. You get an ad on YouTube. The ads on a blog are unbelievable, right? I'd say by 10 o'clock, you've seen more women and more parts of women than the last four generations of your family men combined. You know what I mean? I mean, truly. Truly. You get out in the world and the women, at least in Richmond, they run in virtually no clothes. You know what I mean? They run in shorts that are so tight. You're like, what's the point? Why? Why bother? Why bother? Put a leaf on it like Adam and Eve. Like, what's the point? Up until like, you know, the time you get home, you're like, well, what have I just witnessed? You know what I mean? Every... Every natural faculty of a man's mind is assaulted, literally assaulted by media and fashion and the whole nine yards. It's just a reality. It's a reality and I think it's a reality that people have to understand. I'm not making excuses. I don't want to sound weak. I don't want to make men sound weak. You know what I mean? But at the same time, we have to like– we got to be real about it. You got to be real about it. A hundred years ago, you didn't see a girl's kneecaps, right? It was not a thing. And before that, you know, maybe even worse. But I'm just saying, it's hard to imagine that things could have changed so much, that a man could be tempted by so much and so many different things in so many different layers of life. And what's most mortifying of all is that we haven't even got to artificial intelligence yet. I mean, we have, but barely. We just scratched the surface. You know what I mean? Can you imagine what that's going to be like? So I think humanity largely is in a state of perpetual overwhelm. I think that it's particularly American society. The question, of course, in that state is what do people want? Not what do they need. We all know what they need, right? Probably silence, God, fasting, more black coffee, you know, these kinds of things. But the real question is, you know, like, what do people want? What do you want when you can have everything, you know? And a lot of times I look at the comments on the internet and I look at the way people interact with internet content and the sort of Oh my God, the negativity of it all. And I wonder, do people just want to want? And I think in this modern age, that's exactly what people want, is to want. Do you follow me? And it's perfect, you know, if you think about it. It's like, if you were to be molded into consumerist society like ours is largely, right, where your brain could be tickled perpetually, and you could be, you know, to make corporations big money, well, what would they want you to want but to want? What on earth would a corporation want more than to have a public that wants nothing but to want more? If you follow my drift. So, I think at the base level, that's us right now. Right? We want to want. Right? We get everything you could want, And then we look for the next thing to want. I do it all the time. You do it all the time. We do it all the time. You know what I mean? Here's a great example. It's Halloween, right? We unpack all kinds of Halloween decorations, throw them up, blow ups and lights and this and that. And oh my God, over the last how many years have we accrued all this stuff? And what do you do immediately? Well, you know what we could do, baby? We could put a new inflatable over here. We could put this over here. We want to want. We don't want to put everything up and just go, ah, is this not happiness? You know what I mean? And just sit there on my slanted front yard with a coffee and just look over the house all decorated for Halloween and just be content. I mean, I do a lot of that. But at the same time, you know, there's a lot of wanting to want as well. I think that's the answer, unfortunately. I really do. I think fundamentally, that's the answer we want to want. And that's all there is to it. Love it or hate it. You know what I mean? This is where we sit in it all. Now, you know, that's the top shallow layer of it all. You get scratched through that. You subjugate yourself for a while. You, you know, Really oppress yourself from buying every little thing or doing the whole thing. And before long you find your way to silence. Finding your way to silence is what a gift that is. Wanting to seek out silence is such a tremendous gift. It really is. I don't think people really understand when they want it that they want it. But there's just a value in it. I just turned the car off. Perfect timing. But there's a value in it, man, that is. Well, I've always sought it out. I've always sought out the silence. Because if you're going to be a writer, if you're going to write anything, nothing is worse than distraction. If you're creating something, I don't like to talk about it because it makes me sound like overly involved. You know what I mean? Like I'm this overly involved human being. But the reality is, oh, there's a caddisfly on my car windshield. Must be from the river. Tiny, tiny little caddis. Anyhow. So, if you want to create anything, right? If you want to create anything, then there are layers of this sort of plane that you have to get through. Do you know what I mean? Like, what can you do at the highest level of distraction is create an outline, right? You can create an outline. You can outline a story, a paper, an idea, an event, whatever. And I found that in the highest level of distraction, I can write an outline, you know. But there are layers to things, right? You start adding meat to the bones of this outline. You start adding different, you know, It can work fiction and non-fiction, right? I author both and you can... There's no way with YouTube on in the background and dogs barking outside and life happening at 100 million miles an hour that you can sit down and craft prose in the same way that you can in the still of the morning just before the sun comes up when the only sound is the snoring of people and dogs. Maybe the crackle and pop of a fire in the fireplace and a hot cup of coffee. You're just in an environment that allows you to be like, okay, we can think on a different, you'd start to drill down through these layers of distraction and these layers of life. These layers of like the worries, you know what I mean? So there's the surface layer of what you're seeing with your eyes and registering, right? That level of reality. Then there's another layer just below that. Which is everything you're thinking about worrying about. What do I have to do? Who do I have to pay? What am I behind on? Who do I owe what? What do I owe? Then there's sort of the upkeep layer. I got to work out. I ain't worked out in a few days. I ate that cake last night. You drill down through all these layers. And you wind up hitting. I don't know what it is. I don't know. Firmament something right and in there's your brain just starts to like hum and then you can start to write and all of a sudden the fingers just get going they keep going you know another thing i've learned about writing is go go right to the to the punch line baby you know what i mean go right there in other words you might have an idea for a story or a book um but you've got like some lines or you've got some some you know, interaction, some dialogue you want to play out. You've got some great monologue. You want the main character to rip off. Go there. Go right there. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made as a writer was to be like, all right, I have this great idea and I have to build a story around it. Right. So what we'll do is we'll start to build the story and then we'll eventually we'll get to the big part that I'm going to love writing the most. don't do it. You know what I mean? Just go right for the jugular, start writing whatever it is you want to write the way you want to write it. And what happens is, oh, and as ideas peel off, right? You'll start to fill things out. As ideas start to peel off, just stop writing. Start a whole new paragraph. Write the whole new paragraph as a new idea formulates in your head, right? You had the good guy and the bad guy talking and the bad guys breaking down the situation. And this is how we wound up here. And it's because of this. And you go, oh, You know what? Because of that. What is that? Well, I know what that is. And then you go and just, you know, just go crazy. Just go absolutely crazy in the writing world. PBN family, I don't know what it is people want. I'd love to hear from you. What do you think people want? I think people want to want. But I'd love to hear your thoughts on what people want. I'd love to know what it is that moves people anymore in this modern age. And, you know, oh boy, somebody's about to get rear-ended. And I'd love to know sort of, you know, what does the average person wake up and really truly desire anymore? Thank you for your time. I do appreciate you. This was a straight-up rant. Just a straight-up rant that was as much for me as it was for you. Okay? I appreciate you guys. Talk to you soon. EBN family, when's the last time you thought about re-parent-ness? Not preparedness, but reparedness. That's what YouFixedIt.ai is all about. Reparedness. What can you repair when you need to save some cash or no one's coming to repair it? The other day, my thermostat went black. My HVAC turned off. Talking $ 100 just to bring a tech out. I plugged the information into YouFixedIt.ai and it told me that my condensation outflow pipe was clogged. It was triggering an automatic shutoff. In about 10 minutes, my system was back on and working. I canceled my $ 100 appointment. Bingo! It gave me easy-to-follow instructions, a whole section on safety so I didn't electrocute myself, and then a list of tools that I might need to get the job done. Check it out for yourself. Make it a part of your preparedness plans. That's Y-O-U... F-I-X-E-D-I-T dot A-I. And if you put slash prepper on the end, you get 10% off. And
