Every once in a blue moon, the knuckleheads in Hollywood hire a consultant that knows small units weapons and tactics to make sure their movie scenes don't suck. Phil and Nic sit down to unpack a couple of movie scenes, what they think went well and what didn't, and almost certainly get hit with multiple copyright strikes in the process. Scenes discussed are from the movies Heat, Sicario, and Den of Thieves.

Matter of Facts is now live-streaming our podcast on our YouTube channel, Facebook page, and Rumble at 7:30 PM Central on Thursdays . See the links above, join in the live chat, and see the faces behind the voices.

I'm your host, Phil Raveley Andrew Nickar on the other side of the mic, and here's your show. I have to admit I am always going to think of Stewart when I see that intro because it came out intro, It came out so good. Full credit to a good friend of the show and my wife for putting that together for us, because they did a better job than I would have. Oh my gosh. Yes, I am not artistic by any stretch of the memes. No, no, we are the other artistic, not artistic. Hey, we got the tistic. That's productive. Depends on how you do fine productive, Bud. It depends on how you define it. Look, obsession with certain things can be very productive. It can be anyway. Welcome back to Matter of Facts Podcast. We get a topic for you all tonight that is almost certainly going to get us booted off of YouTube and Facebook this afternoon, because free use is not free use unless you're in a weird setting with weird people, and then it might be Yeah, but being able to do commentary on someone else's content apparently only works if you have enough money to sue Meta, and we don't, So if in the middle of this stream we disappear, we'll probably still be at Rumble. Yep. Hopefully Rumble usually doesn't kick people off for doing commentary on bits. But we do have a mini topic first, We do. Have a mini topics. Do we have to do the admin work? Have to do the admin work or everything will go to hell in a handbasket after that. Yes, if you like to promote bad decisions by becoming a patron, that links in the show described one of our patrons put this intro music together. One of the patrons is in the comments right now, probably haranguing us. And the patrons are the ones who usually convinced me to continue coming back to the mic and do this. So if you don't want to become a patron, you should at least thank the patrons, because if it wasn't for them, lord knows, I'd have probably gotten second tired of this a long time ago. If you'd like to buy merch for the vibes from the Southern Goals, that link is also in the show description and side note, not only do they do the merch for us, but they do that they still have some reason values merch. And they also do the merch for disaster coffee, which leads into if you'd like to prevent war crimes with disaster coffee code mof at checkout will save you five percent. And this is disaster coffee in a disaster coffee mug. This is the cause. This is the pecan pie. So we talked about smores before. This is the other new offering. Have a bag of each coming, So I will. Spoil this for you now. I like the s'morest better than the pecan pie, which is kind of disappointing because like the pecan pie was kind of my idea. The pecan pie is very I don't want to say it's mild. It's very subtle. So like when you drink when I drink this black, I can taste the pecan. It's like it has a nutty taste to it. Okay, put a. Little bit of creamer in here and it mutes it down. A little bit. So what the one thing I haven't tried yet would be to put like some brown sugar and no creamer in it, to see if I can like add a little bit of sweetness and the molasses taste and then punch that up without taking away the pecan flavor. You can try that. You can try a. Little bit of honey too, potentially, but of like that's a milder sweetness. Yeah, but if you're if you're chasing like pecan pie, taste a little bit of brown sugar, no creamer, if that's like the next thing for me to try. I like the coffee, like my my metric for a coffee is if I drink If I can drink it black, it's pretty good. I don't care for this Moores as much black, But we had that conversation. It's not that it's bad, it's just it's a smokiness and a meetium rose. Those two things do a weird things my brain. But I'm very happy with a COMPI A little bit of coffee, creamer and sweetener makes for a nice afternoon cup. Nice And seeing as how I did not I ran out of coffee at work today, I had my one morning cup and no coffee until I got home. It was a rough. Day, that's hairsy. Even I had coffee when I got home today. Oh, I had coffee when I got home. But I usually have to have like some periodic caffeination throughout the day. Yeah. Yeah, to continue tolerating the existence of your coworkers, mostly. So I can resist the urge to like, you know, push a printer down the stairwell or yeat a laptop out the window. But I had to be an adult this time without my mind altering chemicals. Well, you know, some days we all have to do that. So before we started the show, me and Phil were talking about things we gotta do this winter. We do have some things to do in the shooting space, and Phil admitted that he's still hand priming all of his for ass all of my everything, despite not having despite having a reloading press that takes which I did look it up. I was wrong on the price pill. It is thirty four dollars for the primer tube, handling arm for your RCBS rock trucker, a large rifle priming tube, and a small pistol priming tube. I mean thirty four bucks versus going to a bench primer for what was it like one. Hundred bucks one hundred and twenty five I think it was. I will tell you this, it is a bit fiddly getting it set up on the rock trucker the first time. And then once you get it in there, it's in. It takes about ten minutes to really to get it timed in right, you know. I I love it. I've used it for all of my large rifle shooting and precision rifle shooting stuff. I've done all my priming on that. I had a lineman the old C style, and I found their thing occasionally would just chuck a live primer across the room, which was great, suboptimal, super helpful, especially when you run them over with the vacuum lator. That gets exciting on occasion. But the rock Tucker one's been pretty good all things considered. It's got a little spring in it and a little detent pen that keeps the primer from just cascading out of the tube. It's not bad. It's not bad. It beats hand priming. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. The money issue is not the thing to me, like I've hurt but I and okay, so we have comments we're gonna have to loot back around too. But Stuart's saying Phil is doing it right hand prime. Here's the Here's problem. I will always hand prime my max loads because I'm not making a crap ton of those. I'll always hand prime my precision, my precision loads because I'm already taking the time to like, you know, weigh of recharging all the nonsense with all that. So like, sure, I don't mind hand primeing that. My problem is. Becoming I am beginning to develop repetitive stress injuries in my right hand and my right elbow from doing this five six, seven hundred times in a sitting. And I mean, like you know, call what it is. I'm forty three guys, Like things start to hurt after a while. And I'm just reaching that point where I'm having that conversation with myself about how much am I really gaining by hand priming those rounds when we're talking about like bulk plinking. Ammo that I'm not hand weighing charges. I'm just throwing it going. Yep, check your mic. I think you're they're saying your audio is coming in about half the volume of mine. M give me one second mic check. Still still quiet. Mic check, that's way too high. Mike check, little too high. God, I got one more thing to check. I bet I bumped something. Testing it seems okay, all right, audience, give me a high sign if that's okay. Ish, we'll have to wait for their feedback. I mean, I've got to talk about the only thing I can think of it was was that I heard and I adjusted this afterward after we started, which I hate doing. But you know how every now and then we boot this up into uh edge, it tweaks the settings a little bit. It can yeah better slight bump, so you need to kick you up a little bit. Okay, t your your auto adjust is off it it should be. Why does it keep dragging down though? That's a great question. That's thoroughly weird. Tell you what you want to hold the four? Oh you know what, if. You kick out, it'll dump the videos. Yah, I'm sorry. Okay, we'll figure it out. Testing. That is probably about as high as I can go without like blowing ears off. That's a little better. Okay. So two things happen. First, I've always turned mine down so people can equalize it. Yeah, I turned off the I turned off the echo cancelation because that got flipped on for some odd reason, and I hate doing that because if you and I like clip each other a little bit, it knocks the volume down and does really weird stuff. Yeah. I think I kicked my volume down a little bit, so hopefully it matches better. And the other problem is I need to move some stuff around in this desk because this is like the third time I have bumped the freaking game on this freaking this recorder because it faces away from me directly towards a pile of paper that needs to be filed, so you. Know, critically important filing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, So like I was generally loud, so like I was saying, and before we had all the audio problems ahead get fixed. So I hear what Stuart saying, just get a progressive I don't want a progressive press. I'm really just in this situation where like I need to figure out some method of getting this priming done in a way that I can spread out the strain so that it's not just here, and it's here because this doesn't hurt. Yeah. I mean, as much as I like progressive presses, if you're not going to sit down and load two thousand rounds in the morning. You probably don't need a progressive Like I have seven or eight thousand rounds and nine millimeters brass that I need to load. I'm likely going to dedicate a weekend to just making all seven or eight thousand rounds. I don't have the time. To do multiple deals of that, multiple rounds of that at like two hundred rounds in an afternoon. But Ragel says, what if he could find a good deal on one for you. I was offered the best deal on one possible. I was offered one for free, and I turned it down. Well, I mean, I'm sane. I'm just saying guys like it. The reason I do not have a progressive press is not a matter of not being able to afford it, and it's certainly not not being able to set it up or and how it works. I'm on a turnip. It's just a personal preference thing I just don't like. I don't like progressive presses. I've played with my dad's a bunch and helped him set his up. I just don't care for them. I like using single stages. I like doing it slow and you know, methodical. It's a preference, But I'm also in this situation where like I am looking for tools to help speed up and semi automate. Really the brass prep it's not the loading that's hurting. It's like before we started this, Stewart, I'm gonna have to put you on word rations if you keep being such an ornery old fart, so. Mean, if your dad really needs to get rid of those nice Dylan presses. I know of a home that they could go to. Well, first of all, who do you think is going to inherit the damn things? It's not like I'm not gonna get it eventually, Like let's all be let's all be honest with each other. And by the way, I'm not saying anything I don't say to my dad when he asked my opinion about Hey, what do you think about this gun, Like, oh, yeah, I'd really like to have one of those one day. You go ahead and spend your money on that. He's spending my inheritance anyway, I might as well get stuff I like, right, nothing wrong with it, No, But like I said, it's it's just one of those things where it's like I just I don't care for I don't care for progressive presses. I don't most I might want to get in the future might be like a deal on five point fifty that manually indexes. But I don't think they make the five fifty anymore. No, there's enough of them floating around out there. I think there's a new model number for it. They changed up the castings, but a bit point is the castings are closer to the this to the automated one. Now, gotcha. But like I said, I just I personally, I need to I need some ways to speed up and end to kind of automate the brass prep, which is the most onerous part of all this. I don't mind the loading process. Though, Yeah, you know, brass prep, especially when you're shooting a lot of right full cartridges, it can it can take a while, especially if it's like for five five six clinking Ammo, which you can go through a ton. Of Okay, before we get to topic, because we've been derailed for fifteen minutes now, Raggle said that Raggle was reminding me that he tried to turn me onto a screaming deal on some IMR forty sixty four and I turned it down. Recently, I have too much of it already. But but context matters. Okay, this is an already open jug that's fine, that has more than eight pounds in it. Supposedly the owner of it passed away, and the story he bought all his components from. I'm guessing got custody of you know, the reloading power? Howder as ten? Or else do you go? Yeah? Where else do you go with it? And this eight pound jug of IMR fourty's forty sixty four has several bottles of forty sixty four have been emptied into the eight pound jug. Now it's all forty sixty four. That's why I told Raggle, I'm not interested for any price, because here's my problem. The only person on earth that I would even consider trusting powder from under those in those variables is my dad, and only that because fair he has a vested interest in me not blowing my hands off, yeah, or blow my balls up or something. I mean, I've I have acquired a large amount of secondhand powder from people, and one of the things that I always tend to do when I get that stuff is I compare the flake of the powder what the powder looks like, because powders look different sometimes to the published images of those powders. I use actually a lot. Of open of open powder bottles, and so far I have been very fortunate. But one thing I always do is I always do a ladder test with that bottle of powder, starting at minimum charge or slightly below minimum charge. And optimally compare it to the same charge of known powder. Like, if you're gonna accept this Imar forty sixty four, I would do everything you're doing, but I would also test it against a bottle I know, sixty four, Yeah, exactly. Now, if you're in the ballpark of the same velocity, we're probably okay. Probably, maybe the powder is a little damp from being mishandled. You know, it could be a lot of things. Maybe it's a different batch. It's hard to say. I mean, I've got some I've got some bullseye powder in the old cardboard cans. That they're open. They are bullseye powder. And I know that because the guy I got it from only owned bullseye powder. He was a pistol shooter, and a pistol shooter only, and he only shot bullseye, and he only shot a certain version of bullseye. But yeah, but like I said. What I wasn't concerned about. But for all those reasons, I first of all, I'm just really not in the I am actively trying to save money for the rifle that I really need to go ahead and get in the safe, mostly because even before I get to the point of ladder loading for this stupid thing, the first thing I need to do is freaking fire form all my brass. Like I am looking at this precision rifle that I want to build, not in terms of buy the rifle, put the cool stuff on it, take a picture for Instagram, and then put it in the safe. This is an entire reloading program that I'm trying to put together, including doing things I've never done before, like I'm looking into building a DIY induction analer, like I'm I'm going to be pushing my own personal skill set and equipment further than it has before, partly for my own personal amusement enjoyment. But I for that reason, like I'm looking at it as I need the rifle. I don't even care if I have a scope on this stupid thing. I just need the rifles. I can fire form the brass so that I can clean it and everything else so that I can induction and neel it so that I can like measure the shoulder bump, the shoulder back, you know, like five or ten thousands whatever I decide, I'm going to start at like I have to do all those things before I get to the point of building that first ladder load you do, that's they're ready. There's some prep work you have to do. Yeah, now, didn't do all this in the past. Put together a put together a load in a three aweight hate hunting rifle that'll spit out like just over a half inch group and one hundred yards. But I want to see if I can do better. I want to see if I got the sds even lower. I want to see if I can push it even further, and I think I can. But I'm gonna have but I'm gonna have to like nudge along, just do things a little tighter than I did last time. Little being a lot, well, a little bit here and there does that up to quite a lot. But I think that the improvement you are going to see is gonna be very much worth your time if you want to chase accuracy. Yeah, and the eventually we're going to get you into neck tensioning and neck turning. Maybe maybe one day. But I figure starting with Peterson brass, it's. A good place to start. Their their brass is good. It's a really good place to start. Okay, now that we have had been thoroughly derailed for twenty minutes, had audio issues, this is going to be a bastard to friggin at it. By the way, my bad. It's not your bad, it's my bad. I should have checked all the segings before no. I said it was gonna go fine. You did, you did, and then you did not recite the incantations to the Omnisiyah. It's all your fault, Nick, all. Your forgot the incense. It's what are we gonna do? Okay, so let's start with the topic. Hollywood rarely gets it right, and I'm talking about this rare Hollywood's portrayal of like small unit weapons and tactics. Mostly. I got three movies. Everyone here has probably seen them. We're almost certainly gonna get booted off YouTube and Facebook the minute we start showing these things, because you can't do fair use commentary, apparently. But I wanted to have the conversation about a couple of movies that I saw and I as I watched them for the first time, I thought to myself, I'm like, there's actually like good there's good work here, Like there's takeaways, there's some stuff that like, I don't know, I'm all in favor of leaning on very little military experience and everything else. But there's a lot here that actually makes sense. And you can tell that somebody hired a really good consultant for these movies. Yeah, I think they did. Okay, so let's lean into this now. I'm going to warn everybody now and Nick, you can watch the COMSTI to tell if we're blowing everybody's ears off or nine. I have no way of telling if this volume is way way higher than a speaking or not. If it is, then like type into the chat like turn down, turned down, turn it down. I we get booted off of YouTube and Facebook. You'll have to go to Rumble to see us, and your your comments on Rubble will not backfeed into stream Yard. So if that happens, then there will be no more commenting. Sorry, yeah, sorry about that, but in any case that was. Working on it. Yes, Rachel Nick gets mad at things in movies. I get extraordinarily aggravated about anything pertaining to weapons, handling, military uniforms, equipment, all that. We were watching a TV show I think it's called The Last Ship and at one point in the scene there's a man riding a snowmobile with a man behind him, and it fires a jab, not a javelin, an AT four over the shoulder of the guy driving the snowmobile. Yeah. No, First off, you're not hitting a helicopter from a moving snowmobile with. An AT four. Smallis do with RPG sevens all the time. Somalians also shoot themselves with RPG seven all the time. And number two, you're gonna kill the guy that's driving you to make your way from that alone. I don't know if it would kill him, but he would not be your friend afterwards. Oh my god, he's gonna at least have a serious concussion because that last wave that comes out of the front of there from the initial launch and then the rocket kickoff is it's notable. It's spicy. Yeah, there is a reason why we were taught to he all backed by a s terry, all clear before we cook one of those things off. M hm. Because of your buddy's behind you, He's not gonna be your buddy anymore. Oh have you seen the video of the Somalie getting beheaded by the guy firing firing an RPG seven. Yes, when he's walking behind the RPG seven. It cooks off. Yeah, took as head right off. Oh yes, yeah, all right, Let's blast is a thing. Back blast is a thing. Let's start with heat. Anybody that hasn't seen this before. There's there's lots and lots and lots to unpack here. Yes, and I will be forcing you to watch this movie. You haven't seen it. You should force her to watch at least two of these all three we. Got the weekend. I want to block at figure row and fit and I want to block. Back. Do you still have the videos? Phil? No, as a matter of fact, I don't. And it did kick us off of YouTube immediately immediately. Oh that's mad. No, it says we're still streaming the YouTube on ours. On my end, I wonder if I wonder if Andrew Sandy kicked us off because it because it kicked me off, because all that could be Uh, okay, let's try this one more time and if this doesn't work, then we'll just talk about this, because. We will discuss the scene figure row. And the annoying part is I tested this just with me and it was working just fine. All right. So man, it's been a long time since I've seen this movie. I cannot remember. Why he was leaving bank robbery, bank robbery. That's right. I'm gonna knock the volume down a little bit so it doesn't like blow us out while we're talking, so. As you can see. Here. All right, So two things. Script clothing number one. Yeah, nonscript clothing. You send one guy out who secures the vehicle, and then pole security, which he's goofing off. He's obviously not taking this super seriously, which is why you shouldn't have sent that one guy to go pole security. Yeah. You usually want to send somebody that's actually going to do their job. Yeah, yeah, yeah, But the police are coming into the area and they're immediately trying to cordon off the area. They're trying to establish a perimeter, which is exactly the way you want to approach a situation like this where you have a target, You want all your assets to approach from different areas, and you want to secure a perimeter to try to limit traffic coming in. Optimally, you would like to get traffic in the area back out. But that doesn't seem to be possible in all scenarios. No, definitely not then, And I really want to harp on this again, especially if you are operating in a non permissive environment, looking like the people that are supposed to be there is hugely beneficial. And why do you think we had so many problems with the insurgents in the middle? I am it's it's not the myriad can't take the heats. No, honestly, I think it might be or it might be a system resources issue, which is weird because I did all this pre streaming and it was fine. Huh interesting. Oh, so we probably gotta work on getting you those computer parts I have stashed here. Yeah, that probably needs to be something happens by the end of the year. I'll dig those I'll dig those out boxes up for you, send them out hopefully this weekend. Okay, So I guess we're gonna talk about heat. Have you seen you've seen Heats? Have we seen all three of these movies? Since I can't show them because apparently that just pisses off my internet. I have I have seen all three of them. Cicarios is the one that I have not watched all of I've seen most of Cicario's, but I don't know what scene in particular you were bringing up. Hmmm, you know, I just thought of what's that? I wonder if I can do this the old fashioned way. Oh, probably can kick up a media players share the screen. That would be less resource intensive. It doesn't. It seems to be an issue with the browser, not with the computer. So, and to be fair, I did make my browser resource issue. I did mention that sharing these these videos natively in here is a relatively new feature. It is we are trying to do use the new stuff. Uh, come on, computer boot this stupid thing up. Oh dear, So, like I was saying, looking like you belong in the environment that you're that you're working in operating in, especially like even as a person with like a concealed carry permit. H don't dress in a way that attracts extra attention to you that you cannot handle dealing with if you're not gonna Okay, people do this, But going to the Brewers stadium in a club's jersey while the clubs are not playing against the Brewers great way to get extra negative attention. People still do it because regular field is horrible to deal with anymore, and the Brewers Stadium is phenomenal. But it just attracts extra attention to yourself that people are then going to be scrutinizing you more. If you just show up in regular clothes, nobody's gonna really pay attention to you, so you can get away with doing things. It's the old clipboard and a hard hat rule. If you're wearing a high vis vest, tring and clipboard with a hard hat in most places, like most construction environments and industrial environments, everybody's just gonna let you go. Okay, let's try this again. Do we oh? Echo, echo, echo, you're echoing. I can hear me coming through you. That's wild. Still there. I think we gotta kick. I think I can kick on your echo? Cancl about now you're dealing with this? How about now? Oh better? I turned the audio off on that chair tab. Interesting. Yeah, that doesn't make a tremendous mess of sense to me. But anyway, let's give this a whirl. I also turned on your echo cancelation. Turn the audio back on on the video. All right, let's see if this doesn't can you hear it? Yeah, I'm still getting the echo. Though, h o, m hm. Hm hm. What we did. Mh Okay, we're gonna try this, kay. Do you hear yourself hackoing? Not right now? Okay, So it's just when I have that up, that's. Good to know and will be quiet. Well that is, up until we can figure out what the hell it's doing that. Yeah, but here, so here, here's a couple of things that stick out to me that annoy me. First of all, why on earth is are the are these some of these characters wearing soft body armor if you're approaching guys who are known to carry rifles. Well, for one, in the time period, a lot of your your normal ops did not have hard arm. Soft armor was not super common in this time period. But why are you wearing it if you're approaching guys with rifles? Because it's better than nothing, And. No, it's not. It makes you feel better. That that's the answer. That's really all it is. It makes you feel better. So so what they're gonna They're gonna grab the armor to have the armor because maybe it. Helps, maybe you die. My other issue is you got Johnny B law officer just waltzing down the street. No, frigging concealment, no cover, not trying to fring a move between the buildings, trying and move down alleyways, just hoping that these bank robbers don't notice a bunch of cops with friggin' you know, shotguns and rifles standing on the street. Yeah, I mean some of them. If I remember correctly that bus moving scene, they're attempting to use the buss's cover to move up along with the buss. That's some Hollywood shit, because you can't. They did not, They did not initiate this maneuver knowing the bus was just gonna happen to be there at that time. No, but hey, utilize your environment. If you have an opportunity like that to break line of sight, why not take it if it's there? Okay, fair point, I'll start the movie again. But it annoys me. All right, let's take a pause right there. Mm hmm. So notice is the threat immediately starts opening fire. The guys in the car begin to get the vehicle in motion and return fire while moving away in the vehicle as fast as possible. Now, the police, they did a bad job of cover and movement to attempt to approach the vehicle without being noticed. They just sort of wandered out there in the middle of the open and so one of their guys get gets blasted. Yeah. So the things that jump out to me are like, when what you have here is ambush and reacting in contact, when you are the subject of the ambush, your goals are to return fire, to suppress, to suppressure ambush, and then to break contact and get off the X. Optimally, if we're not dealing with a vehicle like we are in the situation, Val Kilmer's character would have been spraying bullets or everybody's had while running to get off the X and get out of the killbox. Although in this scenario getting into the vehicles you're more mobile. It's probably the right decision. So the immediate impetus is sprayble It's you're not even trying to hit anybody. You're trying to get by his heads down, getting the vehicle and get off the X exactly exactly. Fraangle makes a good point bank robbers, how well trained do you expect them to be for this type of situation? Not very Not usually same with your local PD. Yeah, but in this case, per the movie, you're dealing with a crew of very very highly trained bank robbers operating a very high level with a very high level of weapons and tactics. So in this case, and if I recall correctly, like, oh, the police officers are also part of like a somewhat elite unit because they're chasing bank robbers. So like you're dealing with aren't they Feds? I don't remember, their Feds are not off some of them. More FEDS, and some of them are local beat cops. But what you're dealing with here is like, yeah, you have a lot of just uniform horms in squad cars, but you also have two groups that are kind of like at the pinnacle of their individual training levels, at least theoretically theoretically. So like I said that, that's what stands out to me, I still am not letting go of the soft body armor to confront rifle rifle threats. That's freaking dumb. No, I get that. I get that, And I and I think as we saw here like lack of cover, lack of concealment, and initiated that firefight prematurely. Mm hmmm, did they definitely could have probably gotten a better position had more of their men in position, perhaps had vehicles in place to block that line of egrass on the police side. Mm hm, okay, let's throw this back up and let this rip a bit more. Mm hmm, all right, knock that backs out for a moment. Excellent reload. I dropped behind cover. Get a lot of material between you and the and the opposing fire. Get the reload, lock it in racket, get back up and engage. So that whole little chunk right there is like chef's kiss, because fire and maneuver one on one and communicate. Falkilmer's characters communicate with everybody else announcing that he's telling them I am holding the street. You move. They're executing bounding maneuvers, even the change of direction to come to high Port and then come down over your left shoulder. Somebody's gonna look at that and say that seems kind of like Hollywood, you know, cool guys stuff. But there's actually some really good reason for it. In an environment this chaotic, where you have multiple friends and you're not entirely sure where those friends might be at any given time, just sweeping your weapon around means potentially flagging your buddy and going to low Ready is not an option because you're standing on concrete. Bolts tend to go in weird places when they shoot them into concrete, so like high Port, high Port, and a quick direction change is like the safest maneuver to make in that area, to make a call, to make a one to eighty turn with your weapon, like it's it's well done. And yes, the reload is just textbook Chris, drop to one knee, get the entire vehicle, including the engine block between you and the threat, stab the new magazine in, smack the lollipop, and go back to work. And even when he's shooting, I mean yes, technically the uh A mid nineties Honda Civic from like the hood up is not exactly cover. It's concealment at best. It's concealment. Not so much through the windows. It's concealment at best. But also that that wind shill being on angle, bullets tend to rickhey off of it, so. Like they do well, not riochet off it. Tend to deflect deflect. Yeah, they tend to deflect, and it's not so much that it it just alters the trajectory of the bullet. If you have glass, that's if I recall correctly sloped like looked like this, it'll come in from the side and deflect down contrary to what you would normally think, because there's more material that's impacting here, so it's gonna pull the bullet down. Yeah, but I'll I'll give the fact that they're attempting to use theirronment. They're attempting to return fire again, they're executing a boundary maneuver, trying to maneuver towards and towards the direction to get off the X. The whole goal here is that you've been jumped into this firefight. Your goal is to move. If you stop, if you get pinned down, if you get cornered, you're done. And the minute the vehicle gets disabled, their whole goal is get off the X. Yep. Like Jena, there is no as much room as you can get, There is no conserving, ammo, there is no none of that matters. Get off the X as fast as possible, especially in a situation like this where they're so outnumbered, because if they stay there long enough for the for these guys to call on their buddies, you're gonna get put down eventually. Yep, as is what tended to happen. Shitload of chicken winging from these guys. Though it was the nineties, all right, so not to belabor that any further. So I gotta say, though, for the civilians here, there are less than at this point at the supermarket, less than a to what two blocks away from where this gunfight started, where there's been hundreds, if not thousands of rounds fired in the last two to three minutes. All the self preservation intincts. Your shopping Jesus Christ. All the self all the self preservation instincts of a herd of chickens in a thunderstorm. Oh god, it just it drives me nuts. Do you know why I look down on chickens so much? Why because they are the only bird stupid enough that you have to bring them inside otherwise they will stare up at the sky in rain until they drown. That's a myth. They don't do that. Well, they are freaking dumb birds. Chickens are dumb, but they don't do that. Okay, A lot of times chickens die in thunderstorms because they're in mass struck by lightning. I think most people are that stupid, though, I think we should test. Man what by by opening by firing several thousand rounds in a crowded city street and seeing if people stop shopping. I mean, in Chicago, nobody's gonna notice because that's just Tuesday. But damn, Nick, there was a shooting not that long ago in Chicago where it was like five or six people involved and each one of them fired, almost fired a full magazine, if not a drum magazine out of their glocks with switches, nice and stuff was still people were just going about their stuff. You see in the video cars still driving through the street in the middle of the shootout. Must not be that different than normal anyway. So as we close out heat, we're gonna move into Sacario. The thing that caught me was Valkimer's character takes around. Mm hmm. I can't say this is like, oh, he screwed up this and the other, but like it does illustrate the point of in a dynamic firefight like this, m hm, you have to maintain situational awareness at all times. Because what happened was is he lets someone get into his backside and he was well within their their envelope of fire and didn't realize it until he got around snapped off now points to Robert de Niro's character for grabbing your buddy and getting him off the. X while covering with fire. Very important though, because it's a balancing act at that point of I have to move, my buddy has to move, but I have to return fire now and then, because if I stopped doing that, then we have different problems. But if I stop moving now, we have that problem. So it is a balancing act between those two competing interests. Yep. But all in all, like I think, he illustrates a lot of a lot of a lot of good sounds, small unit, small unit tactics, and illustrates a lot of this in an urban environment, which is the chaos. Oh yeah, pure chaos. But I mean really, until like g Wyde, the even the military didn't have a good metric for like how to do something like this. Yeah, I mean, we fought most of our fights in jungles or in deserts or like very very rarely were we except for like mogid Isshue. Yeah, that was an issue, and that was nine the nineties. Yeah, in nineties. Frago brings up a good point. It's the Khalil. Yeah choice. Okay, So moving on to Sacario. This is the border scene by the way. Oh okay, yes, I've absolute seen. It's part of Scaria. Actually it's it's also part leading up to the border scene, which I'm gonna rip a little bit of that before we get to the border scene proper, because I think because it harkens back to my experience with combat convoy tactics. M h. So you got to give it to me, Yeah, all right. One thing that you notice in here, all of the vehicles are the same. Yes. Part of the reason for that. It's a tactical choice is so it is difficult for your adversary to differentiate between the star at the middle the end of your convoy and any specific vehicle that may have say a VIP, certain supplies, whatever it is. You try to make it all look the same. Try not to have distinctive cargo on various vehicles. You can't always eliminate that, or distinctive markings, right, or distinctive markings, because those will tend to be the things people target. Anything that differentiates it. I mean, now, Hunters in Hunter's Ed talk about pick like the burr on the side of the deer, pick the weird cow, lick on the side of the deer as your site point, something that your eyes can lock onto aim small miss mole, very similar to that. And the thing that catches me is like I totally agree with beneath del Toro's character in this, Like the likely, the greatest likelihood of an attack on a convoy is always going to happen when you're stopped. Now, there's not necessarily a good incentive to try to attack while they're picking up their cargo because if an attack initiates, then the cargo just retreats back into the building and they're secure. So you really and you really don't want to try to hit him on the move because speed is life like in a convoy. That was the thing that was beaten to us over and over and over was like, you are not stopping to engage a target. You are not stopping for any reason. Or then your vehicle has broken down or some oral when your buddies is broken down and you have to recover his vehicle or his crew, you are not stopping. You are not slowing down. If you get under contact, three things happen. You mash the gas pedal, you shoot back, and you maneuver. You don't stop so I agree with everything that's been laid out so far. The greatest likelihood is that they're not going to try to hit you while you're moving. They're certainly not going to try to hit you in the city unless they can box you in and bring you to a halt. But even then, when you're dealing with this number of large SUVs, especially with a police escort, the likelihood that you're going to be able to like stop box these guys in slow them down is fairly minimal. So I agree that like it would require a very large heavy vehicle or number of vehicles, for sure. It would well in this case because of the number of vehicles and to your point, you can't tell which one has the cargo. It would require a number of heavy vehicles because you have to lock down the main street and all the egress points. Like it's not enough just to block the street, because they could just you know, hook a right go down another street. Like you would have to strategically divert the convoy in a direction you want it to go into an area where you can lock them down. And that's tricky, it is. It is, especially especially in a metropolitan environment or even a somewhat developed environment because there's roads every block. That's a lot of roads you. Have to block off. Yeah, all right, Now I'm gonna rip a little bit more of this and we're gonna get to a certain point right before the action cooks off, and I'm gonna stop it first comments. Okay, all right, we'll drop this down and talk while I queue it up to the point I want to be. As speaking of blocking off the movement of the convoy, this is one of those things that sometimes can happen unintentionally, you get a traffic jam or whatever. They had a helicopter flying cover for them. They should have known about this prior to them leaving their pickup. Point, and arguably they should have probably like rescheduled or done something like yeah to let to let the convoy cruise into this because this this is. Divert into the oncoming lane. Have that lane blocked off by local PD something. But this scenario right here is full pucker for a conboy. You are stopped, you are surrounded by other vehicles, you're surrounded by other people. You are still in no man's land, but. Yeah, mostly fossils that have been observing you. But mostly you're stopped because as long as a convoy's moving, the convoy is safe. It's like in an ambush, your goal is to move. In a convoy, your goal is to move. You don't want to stop. I can tell you that on a convoy from personal experience, the only time I was even remotely like frightened on that convoy was when we had to stop and recover another vehicle that broke down. My butthole was so tight. If I'd have farted, only dogs would have heard it. You could have cramped cold at my behind. Diamonds would have popped out my ears like it was time to react. Well one, but the problem isn't even just enemy having time to react. It's the fact that, like you are, you still have to maintain security around your your chalk, you stelf, to maintain security of your people. You still have to maintain eyes on the situation. And you're not just watching for a concerted enemy. You're also watching for enemies of opportunity. The guy who just says there's law enforcement, there's there's soldiers, there's whatever. I don't like those guys. I'm gonna take a shot at them. A situation siper from a random window a situation that may not have come up if we hadn't been stopped. But every minute you're sitting there, you're you're, you're, the blood runs out of your freaking chest, in your feet, You're freaking adrenaline goes to one hundred, and you just all you can do is just sit there and chew on your molders, waiting to get back in the truck and move. So Stewart's saying YouTube stream went down, came back, not shocked, not showing that stuff. Well, no, that that wasn't us, that was YouTube mm hm, So you know I didn't see it go down on our end though. Those checkboxes just means that the stream connected. Oh. I don't think we'll actually get a status if the if the stream shuts. Down, although usually we do on YouTube usually on checks when we're down. I wonder if that's only for a technical difficulty and not because we pissed off the uh we pissed off the machines. Worry not about the tech overlords. Yeah. Anyway, So, like I said, I at the point we're gonna cueue this back up, the convoy has stopped. Everyone's everyone's adrenaline has gone to one hundred and you are just waiting and watching. Yep. All right, So. A couple of things. A couple of things. See guys ready in their weapons, getting their stocks out, getting in position to fire, rolling down windows to get that ship out of the way, unlocking their doors if they had their seatbelt on. They no longer have their seatbelt on. They're getting ready to move. Yeah, so a couple of things. First of all, I hope none of you are effering this kind of a weird situation, but just in case you are, I don't know that I encourage a person to have their seat belts on in anything, any kind of situation where you're expecting an ambush. I mean like once you come down south from like forty five miles an hour, Like once you're at street speeds like twenty twenty five miles an hour, seat belt off, and when you're at a stop seatbelt off period in discussion, I'm not talking about. This is not legal advice. I'm talking about. This is don't die advice. Yeah, this this is far less likely to die in a twenty five to thirty mile an hour car accident than in a ambush. Yeah, this is this is I had a really weird childhood, and these are things I learned a long way. But yes, doors stay unlocked, windows stay down. I don't care. Look, it is ninety five degrees and two hundred percent humidity outside. It's Southeast Louisiana in the summer. The windows go down when you come to stop, if you're if you're anticipating there might be an ambush. Why do you think that is nick? Well, for one, you've got the issue of the additional noise having the windows rolled up will cause from the weapon discharge. Number one, that's a lesser problem, but go ahead. Number two, being able to maneuver your your firearm to engage the targets around you through the windows. Gillian just told me that our stream got nuked for copyright. Eh whatever I mean, But I told everybody ahead of time we're on rumble, and I don't think rumbles taking us down. So you know, whatever what it is, I don't care. So being able to maneuver, getting your weapon out out the door and whatnot, giving yourself more room to maneuver with a large weapon, and uh not having the glass mess with your shooting. Also two things. What do you think happens when you fire a small diameter high lost a round into a piece of automotive glass at close everywhere. It goes everywhere, at you, at your buddy, at everybody. And that's never a fun situation for you to be showering your buddy in spall, So don't do that. Yeah, and they don't want to be throwing glass in everybody's eyes. Yeah. And second of all, yes, for those of you who are still hanging around, the stream seems to be okay on Facebook. It is up and down on YouTube because we've pissed off we pissed off Meta and the h the powers that be. Apparently their AI copyright detection has gotten really, really good by the way, ah, or is it really really ship because this is clearly fair use commentary. Yeah, but that doesn't matter anyway. Yeah, Well, I don't have the money to sue YouTube, so they can get away about. Us being than us suing YouTube. Oh kiss my ass, you get go ahead and get try to get blood out of this turn up exactly. But anyway, all that to say that, like the other reason you want the window down isn't just as you don't spread your buddygainst ball and b because it's kind of it's already difficult to maneuver a long gun inside of a vehicle. It's a lot harder if the windows are up, so optimally you would kick the door open and get out, but if you have to shoot through the windows, it helps to have them down. It does so all of those things. But we are we're already kitted up, We're in our armor and everything. We are engaging weapons, we are watch we are doing a very very exemplary job of spotting for targets, spotting for hostels. In this case, do the full facial tattoo is kind of a giveaway. Do with the gun. But I would also say that, like, if you're in a situation like this and someone is paying you way more attention than a casual glance, that's probably a person you should keep an eye on because they're looking at you for a reason. And then I mean, if you're just objective with fiscally attractive, that could be the reason. But if someone's staring to be that hard, I assume there's something going on. Yeah that or you know, you're the car full of guys in play carriers with guns. Folks might also be staring at you, because that's not shit. They always see. I mean this is possible. I mean realistically, Like, if you've got you know, random office guy that just bumming around and he looks over and he sees a suv full of dudes in body armor with rifles, He's probably gonna look at that car a lot longer than he should. Yes, there's a difference in the facial expression. For fighting age males in a car with angry looks on their faces giving you the business visually. Keeping pace with your car deliberately. That's what we call a hint. All right, let's kick this back on. Let's kick this back on. YouTube is probably gonna put us off again. And if it does, like you can go to Rumble or Facebook, or you can just stick around until we come back. It's up to y'all. I mean, I'll be bad. You're not being detained. I'm not your dad. I'm not here to tell you what to do. So, first and foremost, all the self preservation instincts of a sack of freaking hammers. Yeah, literally, turnips have better self preservation. The only person that might stay in a vehicle in this situation, the only person that might depending on the situation, is the driver and that's it. Everyone else gets out of the vehicle. Everyone else's weapons to the ready, everyone else is scanning for threads. Everyone else gets out of the vehicle except for the driver. And that's maybe the driver. The driver might want to get out too. H V high value, high value targets, well, high value individuals, and they're car full of people. Yes, but usually they would stay in the vehicle. But that's yeah, but in this case, he told her, gets you about out of the vehicle and it's dead. She sat there like a tourist, and then instead of scanning for targets, she's staring at the people who are doing the thing they're supposed to do. Anyway, Yeah, almost blown for that, almost gets her head blown off. Anyway, all that being said, we confront the threat. We have terps who are speaking native language. That's helpful if you're in a non expressively. Confront the threat with overwhelming force. But here's the thing I want to point out. White dude that look like an accountant, which by the way, is based on a real SF guy who also looks like an accountant that if you ever meet it in real life people, he has smoked a lot of people, but in any case. He doesn't speak Spanish, obviously, but he looked dead dead at the carfold guys and just shook his head. No. That is universal language for do not do whatever it is you're thinking about doing. Mm hmm. There are certain like everything about your if you're in this situation, you're confronting a threat, everything in your body language, everything in your your to the tone of your voice, even if you're not speaking, even if you're not speaking English, even if you're not speaking the native language. Everything you're doing projects aggression. Everything projects if you if you don't quit full with me, something bad is going to happen. And you know, usually when you point guns of people, they kind of understand that their next movement shouldn't be an aggressive one. And if and if. The people you are pointing guns that are doing anything other than backing down immediately, they're probably serious about instigating a confrontation. Probably. But the other thing I want to point out was that the gun handling here, it's perfect phenomenal. No one gun handling. On behalf of on behalf half of the good guys. No one is spraying and praying. I'm seeing either very short bursts of automatic fire or even semi auto matic fire and all on triple taps and at one point something out. Did you notice that at no point were we just raking across the windshow with fire. They're literally aiming at people inside the vehicle. And individuals picked out. As if they were shooting at people outside of a vehicle. Mm hmm. That kind of quick, decisive directed fire is textbook. That's perfect. And even though cut off as this was done, once they eliminated the threat traffic star movement, they get back in the vehicle, they get off the X again. Yep, they get in, they get they get going, They're done. Yeah, textbook. I really don't have a lot to gripe about with this scene from Ciicario, like it really this is this is how you conduct a combat convoy operation kind of from start to finish. Mike Gripe is their their intel was terrible, Yes, their cover, their air cover was atrocious. They clearly had radios and we're talking on them. They should have known before they ever got up to that traffic jam, and they should have every routed. I don't disagree with any of that, but I will say that in many cases in theater, it's not always possible it's usual, it's usually not possible, and especially if you're dealing with like you're driving through a heavily populated area or in this case, you're driving through a checkpoint, traffic is almost always going to slow down, if not grind to a halt. So it's one of those situations where. Like, I don't remember who was providing the air cover. Rerec I don't think it was ever clearly stated. I mean bearing in mind that this is like this operation was being conducted like joint between the Mexican federales and some unnamed US forces that had one thought it was like D I don't remember if it was DA. I do remember that DEA with some CIA operators, the nerdy guys, where okay, the majority were CIA, but I don't think they ever specifically stated they were CIA. It's just kind of eluding a lot of movies where the CIA is involved, they never state that their CIA. Everybody knows that's that's who they're portraying. Spooks, yeah, exactly, and one FBI agent as a as a ride along to make the whole thing legitimate legal m hm. So you know, it's just one of those situations where, like I agree with you. But at the same time, that's a pretty realistic situation that you would be in the fosses a comboying somebody and suddenly encounter a reason to stop and then have to pull security around the vehicle. But in the after action report that would be a major bitching point. Oh me, and that helicopter pile would be having some terse words definitely Okay, last, but not least, den of thieves. Have you seen this? Yes, long time ago, probably fifteen twenty years ago. Uh So, I have some This one's kind of up and down for me because some parts of it are very very Hollywood, but some parts of it are actually like pretty okay. Well, to be fair, some parts of Heat are very Hollywood, namely the nearly endless magazines. I mean, they're all clearly running thirty round magazines. And I think when I did the autistic bullet count last time I watched Heat, it was like ninety five rounds before a mag change. Yeah, that that goes back to that whole we're not artistic with the other artistic. Yeah, anyway, don't know about. How long like send me out. I know about how it takes me to dump a magazine, and if I was dumping a magazine, and aggression. Would probably be about as fast. I would have had to go through a lot more than they were. Okay, DENNI thieves. I'm going to start this, but I am going to like kind of bump it along because I'm trying to get to a point, and that point is what I want us to like watch all the way through. Yeah, all right, let's break it off right there, do a little bit of commentary before all hell breaks. Lose good things, excellent squad communication, being very clear who's going where and doing. What while you can. Very good odds of DENI thieves it was a bank? Was it bank robbers? Or yeah? The guys on the black as sub with the saw. That's very very saw. Okay, like Phil, you actually probably have operated a saw. I know a couple of guys that have operated saw. I was a saw gunner for a hot minute. How often did you get through a full belt? That that depends Nick, how long do I have to get through the full belt? That's exactly why would you use a saw? I mean, yes, if the military hands you a gun says this is your gun. Sold, congrats, this is your gun. Go forth and deal with the problem child, Why would you if you're going to go do a bank robbery and illegally acquire a fully automatic weapon, why would you acquire the weapon that is known to a run away for no fucking reason and b stop for absolutely no reason all the time. So I will just say this in the defense of the M two four nine, the FM minime, when you baby this son's of bitches, they can be reasonably reasonably reliable. Like you you okay, so like you're not gonna rip a full belt though, but hear me out, Like an M two, you get the headspace and timing roughly right. You like spit in the freaking chamber. If you get the ammunition that's only got a little bit of rust on it, and if it's seats, it yeats that old girl don't care. You treat it like a biker bitch, and it just runs. The tolerances are built to nineteen forti's bulk manufacturing technology, and you know what, it's a huge round. It's gonna throw that bolt back. The saw, on the other hand, has to be very precisely maintained. All the springs have to be just right. It needs just the proper amount of loube not too little, not too much, and then you have to recite the incantations over it, say a prayer to the omnim Siah, and you know, do various gyrations with it to keep it happy. And if you do all that just right, with random shit, if you do all that just right, it'll run a couple of a couple of boxes, a couple of belts through it without breaking a squirrel. It'll just run through the full belt and never stop. Ride the lightning bud, ride the lightning. Holder down and hope for the best. Like I said, I I personal experience. Okay, I've been on the receiving end of a saw that hated me, hated shooting, hated stopping, and pretty much just hated everything. And I've also been on the cen of that same saw after it got into the hands of a company armor that really knew what he was doing, and he he, I don't know what witchcraft he freaking sprinkled into the damn thing. But it ran beautifully after that. But it takes a person who's won't do the maintenance. And in the defense of this movie, these three guys are not just former military. These are former Marine special forces. So perhaps perhaps. The man knows how to keep the weapon up, you know how to maintain it correctly. I just think that is of all the choices one could make, that was clearly a choice. Yeah, that was a choice. But anyway, so I mean, hell, greb an RpK. That thing will run mags, that will run belts. It doesn't care. So what I like is that these guys were trying to be somewhat low key. They didn't have their body armor on at first, they didn't have guns hanging out the windows. The police officers are coming into a situation that they know is hot. They're communicating well, and I like the fact that they are. I mean that I don't know if you caught it, and some people maybe didn't, but like one of the things that they did was they took one group of guys and said you get over there and don't come in. They're setting up for a pincer maneuver. They're trying to spread their forces out, which has its pluses and minuses because now you don't have as much firepower on the X, but you do have the ability to set up crossfires and things you can't do if all your guys are grouped together. Like I see good effective use of cover. I also see arguably a situation where the cops were dealt like the worst possible hand because they have this long corridor they have to come down to get to these guys. It probably, in hindsight, may have been a better solution to dispatch units in front of them and try to catch them, like, try to let them maneuver into an ambush. Oh absolutely, I mean, there's nothing worse tactically than trying to move through a relatively open environment, because yes, you can duck behind those cars, but to move you have to move into the same zone every single time. Yeah, Ragle, to answer your question, I believe these were marine raiders. I believe so. Yeah, I'm in the movie. Correctly google it, but I'm pretty sure they were. Raiders either way. Guys that know business, Yeah, guys that know business, Guys that obviously have a firm grip on tactics. Only three guys to try to fight off what's about to come their way. By the way, but everything being done up to this point makes a certain amount of. Sense to me. It does. So let's get her going, all right, We'll stop right there. I got a fire element. You got a maneuver element. Good. So what I like about this? And I'm kind of bouncing through the sea, like if we're gonna throw this up again, because really I've shown the parts that I wanted to comment on, unless you just want me to run through the rest of this, But. No, I think you're good. I mean, it's a lot of the it's a lot of the same. You've got guys communicating cover and movement again, fantastic. You've got guys sending a maneuver element out and around to try and to try and get a different base of fire on their adversary. Fantastic. Probably a good call after the saws out to just leave it and bail because that's a lot of weight to carry. Yeah. The thing that I like, the thing that I don't think gets demonstrated near enough, the exact opposite of what was being done in Heat, where we were doing bounding forward. This is bounding backwards. And it's being demonstrated really really well in the fact that like you have guys who are behind cover concealment ostensibly they're reloading or their shooting semiod or they're conserving AMMO and once the once you are the foremost element. Once your buddy runs by you and says moving, which again, love the communication. I love the fact that we're communicating to each other about our intentions. But the minute you see your buddy run past you, you step into the lane, you switch to full auto or a rapid fire, get everybody's heads down, You cover your buddy who is egressing because he's now moving to cover concealment. And the minute you run out of AMMO or the minute he gets set, you're going to communicate back to each other and you are going to bound backwards. So this is the reverse of forward bounding. It's collapsing. It's collapsing backwards, it's maintaining, it's maintaining a field of fire, it's covering your body, and it's reloading from cover concealment. All perfect. Yeah, collapsing back to a more defensible location, or just leaving the situation as best you can. Yeah. Now, the police officers are also, even though they've been dealt on awful hand, they are doing their absolute best to mitigate a really bad situation by continuing to apply forward pressure and dispatching more officers off the X to riderfer gonna loop in behind these guys. All excellent use of tactics, all well within the realm of like a realistic response to this type of threat. One thing I loved some of the civilians clearly noticed got the hell out of their cars and bailed before the shooting started. Yes, excellent situational awareness. Fantastic good job. Yeah. Now if I have one bit of criticism, it was when that saw opened up at windshield height. Why why why you're not? You're hitting no. One? After the first rounds ring out, all of your all of your assailants dropped to their drop to behind engine block height. You're firing over their heads or you're firing an engine blocks that are going to stop this five five to six rounds. I think a more efficient use of that arm, honestly, would have been even though it would have been some weight to contend with, would have been used that in the bounding backwards exercise. Yeah, definitely. I guess. Now, look, you have two people who can let's just call it. What is if I recall correctly, a saw is like twenty three to twenty five pounds with a full box underneath it. I mean, it's not a lightweight thing. You're not gonna run as fast as your buddy with a nine mil PCC and and a five five to six car being, but you've got two of them to cover your butt while you get in a position. And then once you're in a position, you can lay down a hell of a field of fire and let your buddies X fill the area. Yep. So I think a better I think there was a better way to use the saw. I think there were better weapons systems to use in the saw in that situation. Me personally, yeah, I. Mean, if if you're gonna do illegal shit, and and I think part of the deal was they stole that saw from lock up, from the from the weapons lock up or whatever. I think they got most of their weapons from there and their equipment from there, wasn't it. I don't recall, honestly, there's. A lot of I want to say, I remember them stealing most of that. But man, which case, sure take the saw, because if you're gonna take something, you might as well take the fil otto stuff, I guess. But you know, I've often wondered, looking at that scene, would you not have been better served to take that saw, prone out and rake the ground level because the shooting underneath vehicles, the guys are gonna go to cover. You're still shooting at a height where they will be maybe maybe not. I mean then it takes you longer to get up and get out of there. I mean it it's trade offs at that point though, because like there's three of you, there's at least a dozen of the police officers and more coming. And you can only assume that like every minute you sit there fighting this fight, you're still losing because there's more cops coming. So I get dumped the belt, keep their heads down while your buddies get out of the car and get started moving, and then you leave it and bail me. I perhaps that's the thought process that the writers were going for, was he's dumping covering firewall, his buddies get out of the vehicle, but he quite leisurely got out of the vehicle and set that position up. Yeah. So, like I said, I the whole part about this aw kind of makes me rural miise. But the biggest reason I dropped this in is just the efficient use of communication on behalf of the police officers and the diversifying of your field of fire and your people and on behalf of the bank robbers. That that that that collapsing bounding, that is it's so textbook and so well handled. Even and right after I cut it where one of the bank robbers get shot, he literally gets shot because his buddy stopped turning fire while he's running. I don't think. I don't know that. I don't think that's planned. I don't know if I get Hollywood that much credit. But like the point it. Well edited, if that was not intentional, if that wasn't intentional. Yeah, But from my perspective, like I think that, I think that gives a lot. I think that that well illustrates something that I don't see illustrated very well in a lot of Hollywood movies. And that's kind of why I wanted to do this episode in the first place, because Hollywood rarely gets this kind of stuff, right. You get a lot of you get a lot of Rambo, you get a lot of Arnold Schwarzenegger, you get a lot of you know people, you get a lot of Peak Special Forces guys doing Special Forces things. As much as. I like the John Wick series, just one guy is going to lose. Yeah, I'll tell you what, you know, what we should have put in here and I totally didn't mister it was a mister nobody. I don't know that one. Oh, I will see it. I might be screwing up the title. I'll have to. Yeah, I'll send it to you. So that one you're you're dealing with a ci hey guy. But he's like, you know, he's left the agency and he's he's trying to be a middle aged middle aged house you know, middle aged husband, have a family, and he's left the life behind. And then some things happen and he has to revive his old ways. Yeah. And the reason I like that is because all the combat scenes in that, this dude gets legitimately jacked up, Like he gets hurt, he gets stabbed, he gets his nose broken. Like if you fight five guys, I don't give a shit. If you're Bruce Lee, you're gonna get hurt. Yeah, absolutely are I mean And in a lot of that too, And in a lot of the movies you see these guys, none of them are wearing ear pro. Most of them aren't wearing EyePro. You're gonna get your. Bell wrung just with all the concussion, Stuart, just nobody. I will look that up and I will try to watch it. I haven't seen the second one. The first one is awesome, especially because I cannot remember the main actor's name, but you'll recognize him. But it has Christopher Lloyd in it. And I'm trying to think of the guys the other the other actor. I'm drawing blanks because I wasn't prepared to talk about the show. And honestly, I should have included in this lineup. It would have been a perfect edition. But you should watch it. You'll you'll enjoy it. But wow, I have seen the cover art. I have not watched this movie. You should watch the whole thing. It's I should watch the whole shit. Chef's Kiss definitely worth watching. So here's the thing. I appreciate when Hollywood does get it right, because they don't get it right very often. I appreciate it when things that like I can recognize from training situations and I can recognize from deployments, are actually being accurately portrayed by people who were obviously taught how to portray them correctly reasonably acceptable gun handling. I will always applaud because you got my hobby right. Good job. Yeah, well, and I mean, you know, like Bob Odenkirk. That's the guy's name. I love, I love. I have absolutely not seen this. I'm watching this movie. You should ten out of ten. But like I said to me, it is a oh poor Rachel. Sorry, not sorry, it's it's really good. It's really good. That's what matters. And she likes the guy. She likes a bubble Kirk. I mean, honestly, she'll probably be able to imagine you in a similar situation. Hmmm. I mean I'm not in. The CIA, no, but if someone came after your family, you do some hood rat things. Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean I grew up kind of a Boonies kids. That's like the whole second half of the movie is they mess with his family and hood rat things happen. I don't want to spell it for you. The congratulate, congratulations, you've made a catastrophic error. Yeah, you missed. You're bad. Yeah, But that's the thing, you know, if you're gonna take a shot that somebody better hit. If you are going to come for the king, you better not miss. Yeah, I mean there's and you know the funny thing about that is that the especially nowadays, with the number of extremely well trained in combat experienced GWAT. That's guys that went and did merk work. After that, A bunch. Of the people that are that are getting into the gun handling and training stuff really high end. You know, half of the guys that I go to the shooting classes with, they look like Joe office worker and they handle. A gun like John well Do and June Wick. And a lot of them are better than me. And I feel like you and I have discussed you and I are not average shooters. Probably we're probably slightly above average, and we just see the general population that is not up to our standard. And then we get into these classes with guys. And there's a thirteen year old twelve year old girl blowing away our part times and smoking forty five year old dudes that have been shooting all their lives. And then there are guys that make her look terrible. Yeah, and then there's, like you said, the forty five year old office worker that twenty years ago did hood rat things in a foreign country with a flag on shoulder. My gun dealer was Marine Force recon. He I would not want to mess with that dude on purpose. Or by accident. No, No, it makes me look like a child on the range. There are definitely some people running around in real life that should have a warning label tattooed on their forehead. Oh yeah, please do not screw with there. And and then not even talking about the guys like with PTSD that are on a that are on a pressure switch, that are just waiting for somebody to give them an excuse. I'm talking about the normal guy that you just decided to kick in his front door and the first thing he thinks is threat. Yep, I'm so scared threats. I'm not referencing the guys who like fly off the handle or lose control. I'm talking about the guys who can wield violence fully in control themselves because they made a conscious decision the quickest way to eliminate this threat to me and my family is with violence game on. Those are usually the ones you need to be the most scared about, because they are thinking clearly and acting purposefully. Yeah, there are a not insignificant number of people out there that are phenomenally good at violence, and. You wouldn't know by looking at them. No, But like I said, I thought this would make an interesting episode for those of you who struggle with YouTube. I kind of knew that was going to happen. I'm kind of shocked that Facebook didn't boot us off meh, But you know, these are those kinds of episodes though, that like when we start putting up things that, like we know are not our content and we're trying to use them above board in a fair use way. We know it's not gonna get taken that way, and it's gonna get taken down, and it just kind of is what. It is fair enough. The recording will be up there. You can watch our audio issues in HD. Yeah, and you know, if you stuck with us this bar and you want to watch this again on Rumble, like, I don't think the stream got taken down on Rumble, and if it did, quite frankly. We watched Heat and Caicario. We watched the scene from Heat from Sacario and from Den Thieves used to go. Just go watch those three movies and then play this commentary back and it will make more sense. They're great movies. They are good scenes, very well executed. I thought so. But I don't know what we're gonna talk about next week. I like to give the audience a heads up, but I haven't gotten that far yet Honestly, here's a little thing for for the audience here that used to listen to Raising Values. Raising Values is going back behind the mic in two days, So good Saturday evening. I want to say seven o'clock if you watch a lot, if you watch on this YouTube channel. Now, Gillian has said that she does want to kind of reformat the show a fair bit, so like, I don't think we're going to be doing any social media. I don't think we're going to be doing any anything with the Facebook page or the Instagram for Raising Values. But seven pm this Saturday, Raising Values will be back on YouTube and rumble, and the first episode is just going to be me and Gillian like answering the question of where the hell she's been for eighteen nineteen months, because it's it's been like the last episode for Raising Values was December of twenty twenty four. Yeah, it's been a hell of a year. It has been a hell it's been a hell of a year and a half for her. We are finally like she's in a better place. We have gotten some things settled that we're taking her away from the show, and we're things that were causing Raising Value. I used to instead of be something fun and cathartic. It was starting to become another task m That's when she decided to shelve it, focus on herself, focus on things that were more important. Now those things are coming back around and we've got some things put to bet. So she wants to revive the show, and for anybody that watched it before, I don't know. It's not gonna be the same show. It's gonna be the same people, it's me and her, but it is not gonna be the same show. That's the best I could tell you at this point. It is going to be a lot of like we're gonna talk about some things that are gonna have some people reeling, thinking themselves, Wow, they didn't know all that was going on. We're gonna talk about some things that I'd probably be hard to hear, but I'm hoping. I want my personal hope, and I'll let Gillian speak for herself in two days. But like, my personal hope is that similar to that discussion I've had with people about like my experience with Gillian and postpartum and everything else, My hope is that other people out there who have a spouse dealing with the things she has dealt with We'll kind of like take this as I'm not alone. I'm not the only person that's ever dealt with this. I'm not even the first person's ever dealt with this, and let these experiences we bring forth kind of like, you know, I guess, encourage them that you can get through it. Oh. Absolutely, yeah. I think it's a great thing to do. Well. I certainly think it's important because otherwise everybody just has to suffer in silence by themselves and I hate that shit. Mm hmm, all right, you need for it. Anything else to chuck in here, we call this one. I think we're good, all right. Matter of fact movies. Matter of Fact is going to go out the door.
