We're reading and riffing the news on the news today and we're in the epic times, the newspaper that everyone should have. Everyone should be reading the newspaper. Really, it's a cheap subscription. I don't make any money. It's a cheap subscription. They don't pay me anything to tell you about it. I just really believe in it, you know what I mean, I really believe in it. Having the newspaper around lends itself to the kind of life that you probably want to live anyway, do you know what I mean. It's one of those things. It just you pop the newspaper open. If you're a young man young woman, it's a break from the cell phone and that whole thing. If you're a parent, grandparent. Not only is it a good time also away from everything, but there's something about seeing an adult with the newspaper open that you know, it promotes reading. It promotes this idea that there are activities outside of scrolling with the cell phone that are rewarding. Man, This Epic Times is full of news and reading the newspaper. One of the things, one of the only things I struggled with when I first got back into paper news was oh, no, like, things are happening that can't be in this newspaper. I'm so used to digital news and the moment a story breaks, I want to be there. Disastercoffee dot com, cheers, get your incredible Colombian dark French roast, Mexican single origin Nicaragua and get the good stuff, Disastercoffee dot Com. You get this idea that like, for some reason, being first has some kind of an effect on your life and more, and that gives you an anxiety, right, It's like, oh, I need to know about the story. I need to know about it now. What I came to realize reading the Epic Times now for months, if I think we're going on a year in fall, is that not only is not only is being first irrelevant, right, getting the news before everybody else gets the news. Not only is that mostly irrelevant in terms of how it will affect your life, it don't have no effect on your life for the most part. Right, the biggest news stories can break and you can see it first, and you read it and you share it and maybe get a pat on the back, and people go like, man, you always know this what's going on? And then. Nothing in life changes really whatsoever. But the other thing that happens is you wind up missing out on great news that's happening all over. Right, you think about what's going on with the administration Donald Trump, iran UFC crazy plot with the UFC location that has become radical conspiracy both left and right. Nobody believes. Nobody believes there was a planned attack on the UFC two fifty event on the White House. Nobody believes there was a dude shooting at the White House two weeks ago. Nobody believes that there was a plot to blow shit up and shoot people at the Earth. It's unfathomable, couldn't be. It was created by the FBI. You think about the many things that come to mind when you think about Donald Trump, and the federal government at work right now, right, I've heard nothing about what is the top story on the cover of this newspaper, trump ed mind target's deceased SNAP recipients. Its anti fraud efforts have brought renewed focus on issues plaguing food stamps, including millions of dollars in food stamps that are being sent to their recipients. Why is that important? You don't know why that's important, probably, or maybe you don't want to admit it or something like that. But there are a lot of Americans who need and use food stamps right right now, it looks like one hundred and eighty five thousand people, almost one hundred and eighty six thousand dead people in twenty nine states are receiving SNAP benefits at an annual cost of four hundred and nineteen million. Now, why this is such a big deal is because there's only so much money in the pot and there are people out there. My biggest concern really are children and seniors who have no way other than going to food banks and stuff to feed themselves. And the money's just going down the drain into some account right, some accounts getting money. It's not being used the whole thing, or maybe it's going into accountan that it is being used, which is even worse. Right, I'm swiping my dead mom's snap card in order to pay for groceries. That's dark on every level, because it may even be necessary. Right, it's an ugly thing. It's another thing, but it is something that's happening outside of Iran, outside of the g seven, outside of the current news that we all think is so important. And it's a headline you probably won't even see, probably won't even get the download, right, you won't even know what's going on. The newspaper gives you time to sit there and look at this stuff, right, That's why I like it so much. The other cover story is America's educational renaissance, which of course resonates with me. You know what I mean that is, I see that our word. I get excited. Educational renaissance is a big deal. And then that there is a new organ harvesting dot memory from our good friends to communists, right, our good friends, the communists who everybody wants to do business with. Whore everybody thinks that they can on the left anyway, thinks that they can do communism. We could do it better. We could just do it better. Nobody's done it right. We need our own chance of doing communism in the United States, or will lie and call it democratic socialism or whatever, even though we're basically already democratically socialist in many ways. It's called The Silent Harvest, which is an amazing title. The Silent Harvest is uh is out? Oh, it's already out. Premiered May sixteenth in Washington. You can watch it. Look it up. Silent Harvest break Silence on the CCP's Oregon harvesting operations. One of the most insane things you know in all of the land. Really, So my lighting suck? Is this lighting too right? The lighting is never right? One of my shows, like one of the hallmarks of my shows is the lighting is never right. It changes from day to day. I don't understand what I did. Nothing is that different where I do. The show US begins to address lag in commercial maritime might standing against China. I'm not really into. I'm not too interested in like the big geopolitical at the moment. So yeah, the Silent Harvest documentary is an interesting one. I don't know if I could watch it, to be honest with you, I don't know if I could get through it. It's hard to believe it's real. UK consists as a story here, there's a little side notes story. UK considers lethal force with autonomous drones. The UK is re examining its attitude toward allowing autonomous drones to use lethal force against who, against the British themselves. Maybe we should zoom a bit on zoom. Let's see what that looks like. Oh, that's way better. That's where we need it to be, Okay. Britain's current policy as of twenty twenty two calls for the context appropriate human involvement, or for context appropriate human involved the selection and engagement of targets. However, amid rapid advances in drone warfare, some officials are pushing to make human involvement in such decisions optional. Man, that's a scary thing. I don't think I'll ever be not scared of autonomous drones choosing targets. And of course, like the cynics will say, well, we always blow up a school or two when we go to war. Anyway, Yeah, I don't know. Though. You launch that drone and turns around, it comes back to you, comes right back. We've been hacked. Has private equity ruined capitalism? Not reading it? Not reading it? The few of you that join us live will leave. I'll leave. I have no interest to builds and billboards in New York capture the conflict of our time. Thank you, artists for donating your life's work to our AI. Your generosity hasn't gone unnoticed, just uncompensated lmao. Replacement dot AI. Your material equals our money. Hey, I've been saying this, guys. I've been saying you forget about the old black reparations. You know what I mean. It's time for AI reparations for all. Truly, companies are enormous, make all kinds of money. It literally built an entire being out of you, out of your data, your work, your writings, your blogs, your posts, your podcasts, your songs, your music, everything, build an entire business out of that stuff. And they're just like, well, keep ball at cash, don't worry. John Dickinson in the Case against Independence, I'm not going to read that one either. Corrupting the legal system. Oh, this is how communism warps the law in the West. Part three, The Epic Times does an amazing reoccurring story all about Communism's effect on the West, the specter of communism, I mean, really like it's an amazing collection of stories. The reader's turn blind obedience, beauty as a national virtue, The dilemma of choice. My retirement accounts fail in the world I actually live in. I remember the first time I logged into my retirement account as a young professional, proof that I had entered the world of adulthood, of long term thinking, ownership, work in a nonprofit sector. So technically it's a four oh one three be not a four oh one k. The distinction is academic. The longer I've attributed more, I've realized something uncomfortable. My retirment plan isn't built for the world I actually live in. Like many in my generation, I came of age during a period of profound economic change. Companies stay private longer. Technology, infrastructure, and energy companies increasingly raised capital outside public markets time value of money. We'd all retire tomorrow, But we also are being funneled into portfolios that exclude entire categories of assets such private equity, private credit, real estate. I mean, we knew that was going to happen, right like you knew that, And it's happening in an even bigger way because of Donald Trump's Trump accounts. Which if you've got a child who I think was born twenty fifteen or twenty something like that, I can't remember ten and under, maybe on July fourth, you gotta sign them up for one of those, man, sign them up. It's free money. It's not free money, but you know what I mean. It's building the stock market and the return from you making the rich richer. Your kid gets a little bit of it. Okay, So every little bit counts, man, especially in the early days. Anything they can put towards a home, anything they can put towards an asset vehicle, those kinds of things huge. The White House Council of Economic Advisor suggests that younger participants could benefit from allocating up to thirty percent of their portfolios to private markets. Institutional investors have approached the portfolio construction using private markets for decades. Yeah, of course you're gonna run into people, you know, if there are bunches of people who get to control where your money goes, and you know, they make money off of that, and then they can also sort of, you know, give the pretty good stuff, invest your money into pretty good stuff and then invest you know, other money, more money, their own money, whatever the situation is. In the really good opportunities, I mean, you know, make the money off of you at mid range opportunity, and then use their money to make even more. Five lesser known health metrics that can help predict longevity. Let's see how you measure up. You want to see how you measure up longevity long chainey the promises and limits of stem cell therapy. So a lesser known health metric that can predict longevity is, uh, I may have one right here. Maybe not. Yeah, there's one right here is grip strength. Grip strength. It's important all of these metrics. Man, when it comes to health and stuff like that. They go back to a uh, wow, this guy's hard. This is a tough one. Can I get that? Listen to the bones in my hand cracking from that thing. Wow, that's that's a tough one. That's one seventy five pounds. That's a toughie right there. But grip strength, you know, you gotta work it. You gotta work at things. If you don't want to use those things. My kids bought those I think at a discount store or something like that. And I just. You know, I am the ultimate. One man's trash is another man's treasure type of guy. To be honest with you, pull ups, climbing, those kinds of things like they go a long way. Uh, it's the ultimate benefit of using free weights over machines, right, free weights over machine The difference of free weights to machines is it's a big difference. Man, it's night and day. The amount of muscle groups that have to get engaged when using free Like you hear, there's a lot of excitement around like total body workout. You know what I mean, total body workout because you know, we can't carve out an hour for ourselves for the physical fitness, so we have to cramp thirty minutes. We got to do super sets and multi sets and multi movements that get the caves and the quads and the abs and the shoulders all in one one exercise. Because you have twenty four hours a day. And imagine if you took your time and I don't even do this, but imagine if you were crazy enough to take your time and spend two hours on fitness and health like literally your life. Literally spend the time, invest the time in your health, span bananas. No, we got to do whole body exercise. Well, so much gets affected when you're using free weights like barbells and dumbbells. Grip strength is there all the time, right, it's there all the time. Stability core is there almost all the time. Nothing else is holding the weight up but you. It's a whole different world than sitting down in a machine, and the machine holds the majority of the weight until you're ready to push pool whatever it is you're gonna do. Right. Grip strength defined as the force exerted by muscles in your hand and forum when you squeeze. Okay, not too bad. I don't know what they are. I'm interested. I love these health metrics things, man, especially when their fitness related. What flavored vapes do to your body? Fuck it up, that's what they do to your body. That's the that's the one word's answer to that story. Here we go. Oh, resting heart rate, Yeah, that's a good one. I bet I had a great resting heart rate today. I worked out two times. Yesterday I worked out two times, well one and a half. You'd probably call it one and a half, or maybe it equals out there two. I did a blistering hours long virtual reality boxing marathon, which some of you might say, like, really do that's a workout. If you haven't tried it, don't knock it. That's all I'm telling you. I'm in pretty damn good shape. And I could tell you that you spend an hour competitively shadow boxing with other people online who are even relatively proficient, try to win matches, and you will be devastated physically, you know what I mean, physically devastated. Resting heart rate? Right when do you take your resting heart rate? Do you know you take your resting heart rate the moment you wake up, Sit at the edge of the bed. Count your heart rate beats per minutent. That's a good way to get your resting heart I don't know what minus, I've never done it. Very low heart rates lower than fifty beats per minute. Men with a heart rate higher than ninety beats per minute at about three times the risk of death. Okay. Resting heart rate is usually between sixty and one hundred bpm. You are your own reference. So if you know you have a resting heart rate at sixty and your heart rate is elevated, then you know, okay, something's going on here, right. I listened to guys years ago talk about they went into a little bit of a cardio and fighter cardio and overall like stamina in mma and boxing based on this sort of resting heart rate. And I heard guys talk about if I woke up and my resting heart rate was high, I wouldn't train that day. I would say, my body's working overtime. Maybe I'm getting six something along those lines. That they would treat this metric of resting heart rate, you know, as how the day's gonna go type of thing, and I always thought that was cool. Sorry, I'm maneuvering the microphone a little closer, and the newspaper came apart on me. Waste to height ratio. Yeah, my BMI is always messed up. For decades. Body mass index was medicines go to measurement over My has a fundamental fall. Can't distinguish between muscle and fat. It's a weird one, you know, because I weigh a lot, even though I'm little, so five foot nine, one seventy five usually, and uh, you know that don't on paper. That don't look good at all, you know, but you see me, right, So that's waste to height ratio. That's a pretty good one. Cortisol levels. Cortisol is a steroid. My kids would be laughing. Cortisol steroid hormone released in response to physical and emotional stress and short Bursts's healthy and necessary as it sharpens focus. How do you measure your cortisol? How do you know? Cortisol levers can be measured by a blood urine in suliva. Nobody's doing that. Nutrition nutrient deficiencies is metric five. That's kind of cool. I am not monitoring anything in terms of chat, so sorry, guys. Smoked beef brisket two step method to reduce harmful compounds. Hmm, brisket sounds good for the fourth two fifty fourth brisket, Lobster tails something like that. I don't know. Lobster tail's kind of overrated. Where does consciousness come from? Not in this show. That is a great article. I'll read it, but not in this show. Newton wrote more on God than on science. Oh that's a that's when they don't want you to know. The old scientists believed in God? Are you kidding me? Life and tradition. The original selfie A history of self portrait through the portraiture, through the ages Albreck Leonardo da vinc What kiplings If teaches about masculinity Rudyard Kipling's If poem essential. I think every boy should probably read it. I've been very close to just throwing it up in the kids' bedrooms in framed form, but I've never really done it, to be honest, never done it. Raising boys to be men is one of the great challenges of our time. How do we recover a proper understanding of masculinity in manhood? The late nineteenth century twentieth century poet Rudyard Kipling Traditional ideas well provided us with a snapshot of traditional ideals of manhood in his celebrated poem if Yeah. If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too. If you've let anything worked, anything, managed, anything done, anything in your life, led a group, you know, been head of a friend group, whatever the situation. If you've been in a leadership position in any form right or in a high stress environment, like those two lines, they really resonate man if you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. You know, I mean so many times I've been in I just automatically think back to the hotline in restaurants at the rush, you know what I mean, tickets flying out of the machine. You're in the weeds, everyone's stressed out. If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too, that's another huge one, right, like can he pull this off? I don't know if you can pull this off? You got to have that confidence. But you also got to have that you know that reality. As dating app fatigue grows, singles looking for marriage are left with difficult questions. Where are they actually supposed to meet someone? I don't understand this. I really don't understand this. You know what I mean? It doesn't make any sense to me. Step one, leave the house without the phone. Do you know what I mean? Leave the house without the phone, Take a notebook, pen and pad in case you're lucky enough to get someone's number. I don't get it. I really have trouble with the dating thing nowadays. Also for men, you have to be persistent and It doesn't matter if you like that or not. It just doesn't matter, do you know what I mean? You may ask a girl to go out with you. She doesn't know you, She has no idea who you are, what you are, what you bring to the table. She's got the cover of the book to go on. You go up to her and you say, hey, you want to go out? She says not really, she doesn't like to cover design. You know what I mean. It's like getting a job. It's the same kind of persistence. Let me tell you something else that you might not know about me. Let me let's get to know each other a little better. This idea that you're going to go up to a girl and say, hey, do you want to go out? Do you want my number? Do you want to do something together? Do you want to go play magic? The gathering right? And she's gonna go, yeah, I do a lot of times it won't happen that way, you know what I mean. A lot of times where you met her, you might run into her again, ask again, ask her how she's doing. Develop a friendship, develop even just like a sparse communication line where you see each other at a job or at a place and just wave and and you work your way in. Man, it takes time. These things take time. I don't know how else to explain it. I think guys go out and they ask a girl out. The girl tells him though, they turn around to go home and go, oh, life sucks. Maybe I'll just become a an inceel. I chase the girl for a year in high school, end of middle school, into high school, and nowadays that's like frown but you can't even believe it. It's like totally frowned upon, you know what I mean. There's all kinds of names for a guy who chase the girl, but I really liked her. There's that thing too, There's that thing that like guys won't admit anymore. It's like, oh, there's a girl that I really like. You're not allowed to like single out a girl like I really like her, Like I'm willing to go out of my way to try and make this work. I'm not allowed to do that anymore. It's like she said no on to the next one. But that year of chasing was like turned into three years of a relatively fun relationship, maybe like two years. Last year was kind of a nightmare, but not really on and off. But you know, that's a pretty good equation. I wasn't in bed crying myself to sleep for a year. I was going out with my friends, having fun, dating other girls, doing all that thing. But it was always that connection was there, and it was always pretty well known. Hey, I'm still here when you're ready, you know what I mean. And just chipping away. Man, you know, you gotta be relentless. You gotta be relentless. And sometimes you might not want to hear this or believe this either, or maybe this hurts your ego or something like that. But sometimes like a girl goes out with you because you won't leave her alone. And again, she don't know you. She don't people don't really even know you. So she goes out with you because you spent three months haggling her right in a cool way. Not like you want to go out with me today, you want to go out with me tomorrow, you want to go out with me tonight. But you've been around, You've been in the pocket for a long time, you know what I mean. They call it like friend zone now and then men quit because men are quitters nowadays. Be honest, you stay in the pocket, right and uh, and you got to look at it from her point of view. She don't know you, she sees the cover. She knows a few little things whatever, some good, some bad, you know what I mean. And then all of a sudden she says, like, Okay, well let's give this dude a shot. He won't maybe go out with him, and maybe I'll leave me alone or whatever, you know what I mean. And then it's your job to sell yourself yourself, not some fake you. And that's what you do, man, you know, and you could wind up sparking relationship because at the end of the day, like if you think that, if you think that a woman has this great list of things that they really want and they're really only going to settle for that, like that shit's fake. You get a woman in a situation where she trusts you, is taken care of by you, enjoy spending time with her. You like to do some of the same things together. Don't even have to be all the same things together, but like you guys can hang out have a good time. Maybe there's some sexual compatibility in that kind of thing. Like in the real world, outside of dating advice and women advice and men advice and all this bullshit. That's usually what people are after. Like people will be like, this is a good situation. I'm staying here. Let's keep this going, you know what I mean? These guys got some money, very good in bed. Always wants to be with me. It's fun when we hang out. We like to go to some of the same places, do some of the same things. We have a good time together. That's it. That's it. She ain't gonna get the tape measure out and be like, is he six feet taul? A real woman? You know what I mean? So is what it is. That's your dating and love and marriage advice today, free courtesy of the Intrepid Commander. If you can dream and not make dreams your master. If you can think and not make thoughts your aim. If you knew the background struggles that are happening right now in order for me to stay focused, you wouldn't even believe it. If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, that's a wild one. Or watch the things you gave your life too broken and stoop and build them up with worn out tools. Yeah, yeah, I've seen that. That's podcast statistics. That's podcast statistics. One in a nutshell. Sometimes we fall off the cliff summertime. Summertime things can get a little liffy, right, people go on vacation. They're not listening to podcasts as much. If you can make one heap of all your winnings and risk it in one turn of pitch and toss and lose, and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss, that's a good one. That it's a great you know, it's a great one. It's it's one of the great poems of all time. Man for men, I think when they're young, though, it's hard some of those things you have to experience before you really appreciate what that poem is all about. You read it to an eight year old and he goes like, I don't know what you're talking about. What do you mean one game of pitch and toss? So you gotta be careful about that. To your next generation, you are important. Wow, you need to read any more than that, dear next generation. I'm a grandfather of nine and a great grandfather of one, and I believe that it is critical that we baby boomers share our thoughts in wisdom with future generations. Try to live by Proverbs three. As you trust in God, keep a glass half full demeanor. Gratitude is a superpower, Okay, be grateful. Start an end each day with a short contemplation of those things that make you grateful. This changes your life. There's nothing more simple than gratitude that could change your life. And that's a great way to do it. To start the day and end the day with things that you're grateful for. It tremendous. It will literally change your life in a couple months. Do not take yourself too seriously. Life is too short. Save, save your money, start early and remain committed. Treasure your family and have patience and understanding and forgiveness. Spend time around us old people. Surround yourself with good people who are on as trustworthy and positive. Above all, love God, love others, and love yourself. JJ Joyce from Texas. Man. I don't know if there's a better way to end this one. That's pretty damn good advice, right there, folks, you know what I mean. Although the home section God Blessed Me is the top ten laws of gardening, and that's kind of cool. Top ten laws of gardening. I bet I could guess the majority of. Them, but. We've done nearly thirty thirty five minutes. I love reading the newspaper and riffing. It's an awesome opportunity for me to sit down and read the newspaper. You know, with a purpose, you can sneak those things into your work life, you know what I mean, if you're smart about it. I do want to thank you all for joining us today. Be sure to review this podcast, share it, spread the word. You know what we're doing here at the Prepper Broadcasting Network. I think the vast majority of people are hungry for at this moment. Tell them it's PBN. Tell them it's a guy who reads the newspaper, whatever it is. If you're worried about scaring them off with the word prepper. But you know, in my new book that I'm writing, I said everyone's a prepper now. At the intro to the book, I said, everyone's a prepper now, and they just don't know it or they won't admit it. It's the reality of the life we live. You know, if you really look at what a prepper is, you usually start out consuming way too much terrible news and then realizing that you have to act on that, you have to do something to mitigate all that risk. And because the nature of news has changed so much, right, not the newspaper, Because the newspaper is it's a different thing, man, It's a different it's different. It's wholly different than television news. It's wholly different, of course, than online news. Online news is all about first, it's all about clicks and getting it in there first. What's the firth of the breaking and the breaking news? Right, the newspaper is a totally different thing. And when you read a newspaper, you do it at your pace, and you read what you want to read, and you decide what's important. You're not driven by an algorithm to what you are supposed to think is important and what's going to drive you insane and make you scared or terrified or whatever. You know. For the most part, people are consuming online news and they're getting the very worst news they possibly can and and compile piling on top of that is the very worst videos, the most heinous, the most terrible, violent, divisive videos that you can get your hands on, as like spring go on top. Right, you're a prepper and you don't know it you know your neighbor's a prepper and they don't know it, and they want to be prepared. They want to be self relyingt independent. They want to listen to Judson Carol talk about, you know, how to use sasparilla as a as a medicine. They want to listen to Dave Jones talk about what he's doing on the homestead, right. They want to hear the things that are had. They want to hear Jay Fergie get on and talk about what she's doing and in the mountains of western North Carolina, like the it's invaluable. I really do believe that, I really do believe that what we're doing is invaluable here at PBN, and and I'm asking that you do your part to help spread the word. You know. Also, if you want even more content from us, you can go to pbnfamily dot com and tune in to the members side of things.
