[00:00:00] Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication. With thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
[00:00:22] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do. And the God of peace will be with you.
[00:00:45] Lord, thank you for your word and for your love and for the encouragement that you provide us. Holy Spirit, thank you for being our comforter and for being an ever-present help. Thank you for leading us in the way that we should go. We pray, Lord, that you would fulfill your instruction in our lives. That you would write your word upon our hearts. That we would become ever-increasingly obedient. That we would abound in fruitfulness.
[00:01:15] That we would understand and appreciate these instructions. That we would cherish them. That we would be discipled by you and by one another. Lord, redeem this time. Help it to be edifying for your body, for your people, and for the advancement of your kingdom.
[00:01:34] Lord, let your will be done in our hearts, in our minds, in every aspect of our lives. We bless you, Jesus. We praise you. We worship you. And declare your worthiness and holiness in your name. Amen.
[00:01:49] I feel like if I look back through my archives here, that we will have done many different sessions talking about the instructions in Philippians 4.
[00:02:00] I know for sure that we have talked extensively about rejoicing always and what that implies and being anxious for nothing.
[00:02:10] And talking about the peace of God which surpasses all understanding and how that is something that the world is perpetually bankrupt of.
[00:02:19] And that so many are seeking.
[00:02:21] But I want to speak in particular here about verses 8 and 9.
[00:02:27] About our thought lives and what we should pay attention to.
[00:02:32] Let me read these verses again.
[00:02:34] Again, it's Philippians chapter 4, verses 8 and 9.
[00:02:40] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.
[00:02:54] The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do.
[00:02:58] And the God of peace will be with you.
[00:03:01] It's quite a promise.
[00:03:03] It's quite a promise for the God of peace to be with us.
[00:03:07] Surely, that is something that we want.
[00:03:10] Something that we need.
[00:03:11] Something that we should crave and seek after.
[00:03:14] Something that we should pour our lives out in search of.
[00:03:18] And yet here, we have a principle.
[00:03:21] We have a call to righteous action.
[00:03:25] And we see this repetition for emphasis.
[00:03:28] So what are the things that we should meditate on?
[00:03:31] Think about.
[00:03:33] Think about.
[00:03:34] Keep in our minds.
[00:03:35] And maintain them as mainstays of our thought life.
[00:03:38] Things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report.
[00:03:46] Things that are full of virtue.
[00:03:48] And things that are praiseworthy.
[00:03:50] Now, in today's day and age, people will certainly differ in regard to the definitions of what is true and noble and just and pure and lovely, etc.
[00:04:04] But let's take it from the biblical standard, which is where it is intended to be applied.
[00:04:09] And what could be of greater characteristic of all of these things than Jesus, than the word of God itself?
[00:04:21] And note how we also have this instruction that Paul is writing and saying to the church in Philippi,
[00:04:30] you have learned these things and received these things and heard these things and saw them in me.
[00:04:37] Do these things and the God of peace will be with you.
[00:04:41] The repetition, the listing of characteristics, they should stick in our mind.
[00:04:48] We have a variety of different things.
[00:04:51] The gifts of the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit, the characteristics of love in 1 Corinthians.
[00:04:59] The New Testament is replete with these different examples, going so far as to showcase the lines of causality in terms of what leads to what.
[00:05:10] And it's not as if these things are being redundant.
[00:05:16] It's not as if these lists are not there for a useful purpose.
[00:05:22] After all, all Scripture is valuable.
[00:05:25] There's a list even when we're talking about that from the New Testament.
[00:05:30] But when we see things like this, we should understand that it should motivate us to have a transformation in our lives.
[00:05:41] How easy is it for us to not turn our attention towards these things?
[00:05:47] You can read as much as you'd like on human psychology and the theory behind all of it,
[00:05:53] or you can simply observe it in the world writ large, that the world does not focus on those things.
[00:06:00] The world does not focus on the virtuous, the pure, the lovely, the just, the true, the good.
[00:06:08] Even if they would say, yes, these things are desirable.
[00:06:13] There is a profound dissonance between the way that information and stimuli are presented and fed to people.
[00:06:22] And that reveals the genuine nature of it, the motivation for corruption and distraction.
[00:06:32] And whether you end up falling into the camp that blames this on technology or information systems or market forces or anything else,
[00:06:44] we need to acknowledge where the root of this is coming from.
[00:06:50] There are tendencies that we all have that can be exploited.
[00:06:54] And each one of us, in our own way, is capable of falling prey to hitting the guardrails and even flipping over them,
[00:07:05] so to speak, as it pertains to this instruction and discipleship.
[00:07:08] And so I would just urge you, momentarily, to consider how much of this last week has been spent purposefully meditating and thinking on
[00:07:23] and just spending time in our thoughts focusing on the things that are true and noble and just and pure.
[00:07:30] However, how much of our effort do we put towards fulfilling this instruction?
[00:07:38] And if we're willing to be honest, and I'll try to be with myself, not as much as I should.
[00:07:47] It's an understatement, that's for sure.
[00:07:51] But don't we want the God of peace?
[00:07:55] Isn't it appropriate for us to take these discipleship instructions at face value?
[00:08:03] Have we not seen enough of God's love and his testimony of his transforming power in our lives to say,
[00:08:10] I am willing to take the God of the universe at his word?
[00:08:16] I am willing to humble myself before this teaching?
[00:08:20] After all, even if the promise weren't there,
[00:08:27] wouldn't it be a good thing for us to focus on these sorts of things in our thought life?
[00:08:32] Rather than all of the arbitrary and sometimes challenging and sometimes disastrous thoughts that befall us on a day-to-day basis?
[00:08:41] Even if that promise weren't there, wouldn't it be worth it?
[00:08:45] Doesn't it just seem, from a practicality and common sense standpoint, a good idea?
[00:08:51] Now, you can find objections to this.
[00:08:55] There are also calls in Scripture to stand up against evil.
[00:08:59] And we are to be wise as far as these things go.
[00:09:03] So we have to understand the tactics and the approaches that the enemy takes in order to serve appropriately
[00:09:11] and to be a part of the spiritual warfare that God has called us to be a part of, inexorably, each and every one of us.
[00:09:18] And so how do we square these ideas with the necessary responsibility that we have
[00:09:27] to stand firm in this generation and to understand how that is done?
[00:09:32] If we are to advance, we must not only know the God who we serve, but through the light of the Holy Spirit,
[00:09:42] understand the workings of the forces of spiritual darkness.
[00:09:46] We're not to be ignorant of their devices.
[00:09:48] And I would encourage you, brothers and sisters, that this call, this instruction in discipleship,
[00:09:55] it is not an excuse for naivete.
[00:09:59] It is not an encouragement to simply be passive and to shut our ears and close our eyes and to block out
[00:10:09] entirely all of the things that we need to confront in the generation that God has called us to.
[00:10:17] And yet, where is the majority error here?
[00:10:23] Where can we speak to it?
[00:10:25] Is the problem that we are hopelessly naive because we're following this command too extensively
[00:10:34] to the point where we never engage with the outside world because we're supposed to find this proper balance?
[00:10:42] Or is the more likely error going to be that we don't do this enough and we get too sucked in,
[00:10:50] even to the battles that we face, to the exclusion of following these instructions?
[00:10:55] It's going to be different for everyone, but as is a common theme here in this broadcast,
[00:11:01] we have to understand where the narrow path actually lies.
[00:11:06] And there isn't going to be a recipe.
[00:11:10] Okay, when you wake up tomorrow,
[00:11:12] here is the exact percentage of time that you should be spending on one approach versus the other.
[00:11:18] Here is the exact time you need to be studying plans of spiritual warfare and understand the challenges that we're facing
[00:11:24] in order to position ourselves to combat them effectively.
[00:11:28] And on the other hand, here is the amount of time and here is the percentage breakdown of things that we should focus on
[00:11:38] on one hand that are true and noble and just and pure and lovely and of good report and virtue.
[00:11:43] On one hand, you could say it is possible for there to be a both and.
[00:11:52] Now, this feels a little bit thin to me, to be honest,
[00:11:55] because if we're saying let's take some measure of evil and we are examining,
[00:12:04] well, what would be the case, what would it look like for God to gain a breakthrough here?
[00:12:10] What would be the benefits to people?
[00:12:13] What would be the benefit to the glory of God and the name of Jesus and the advancement of the kingdom?
[00:12:22] Yes, it does seem to me that you can do both,
[00:12:26] but I think that inexorably our focus will be drawn towards one side or the other more so.
[00:12:32] If you're already capable of balancing these in a properly mature fashion, then by all means.
[00:12:40] But I think most importantly here is the idea that we do need to study to show ourselves approved.
[00:12:49] We are instructed to not be ignorant of the devices of spiritual darkness.
[00:12:56] That is absolutely the case.
[00:12:58] That is a firm instruction in scripture.
[00:13:03] We are to honor that and to fulfill that by the power of the Holy Spirit.
[00:13:09] And therein lies the key.
[00:13:11] We can be effective.
[00:13:14] We can be placed in the right situation and affect the right outcome
[00:13:19] without knowing the full battle plan.
[00:13:23] We should be engaged, yes.
[00:13:26] But I would posit to you that if we spend our time and our waking moments
[00:13:33] trying to dissect everything to figure out what's going to happen
[00:13:37] or to come up with this or that outrage
[00:13:41] and we never spend that time in the presence of God,
[00:13:48] then we're by definition going to be powerless to have the kind of effect that we want to see.
[00:13:54] We will be maybe not naive.
[00:13:57] Maybe we will be aware of all these dynamics,
[00:14:01] but we could find ourselves powerless or even worse,
[00:14:05] thinking that we're powerful, acting in our own strength,
[00:14:08] and finding that we were outside the will of God all along.
[00:14:12] And much effort has been dedicated towards fighting the good fight of faith.
[00:14:19] That effort should not be diminished.
[00:14:21] That effort should be redoubled and increased.
[00:14:25] Fervency on behalf of believers is absolutely called for.
[00:14:29] At every moment, there is never a time when we can simply kick back and relax.
[00:14:36] If we were fully aware of the extent of the evil that has befallen us in the past,
[00:14:48] is befalling people right now,
[00:14:51] and is planned to unfold in the future,
[00:14:56] that is a reality.
[00:14:59] I really don't believe that we have the cognitive and spiritual fortitude
[00:15:04] to truly understand.
[00:15:08] When Daniel was given his visions,
[00:15:12] he was horrified, the Bible says.
[00:15:16] He was distraught.
[00:15:17] He was sick.
[00:15:19] It made him ill to get even a glimpse,
[00:15:24] a small glimpse of what was to come.
[00:15:27] And we need to treat things with a greater degree of seriousness.
[00:15:36] But that doesn't mean digging in our heels and peeling our eyes open
[00:15:44] so that the only approaches that we pursue
[00:15:49] and the only streams that we take in
[00:15:53] are coming from places that don't fulfill this dictate in Philippians 4.
[00:16:02] We have a wonderful God.
[00:16:07] And the very fact that we can say that we have God,
[00:16:13] God with us,
[00:16:15] God for us,
[00:16:17] a God who loves us,
[00:16:19] a high priest who intercedes for us,
[00:16:22] a Savior who gave himself for us,
[00:16:27] that should be the foundation and the motivation for what we are to do.
[00:16:33] Jesus,
[00:16:34] during his earthly ministry,
[00:16:37] left the field of operation to go into the wilderness,
[00:16:41] to pray,
[00:16:42] to seek guidance,
[00:16:43] to commune with the Holy Spirit in a different way.
[00:16:47] Truly,
[00:16:48] Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit without measure.
[00:16:50] And yet he showed us that those times were necessary,
[00:16:54] those times of refreshing,
[00:16:57] those times of solitude,
[00:16:59] those times where he was not performing the same kind of healing miracles
[00:17:06] and deliverance miracles
[00:17:08] and everything else that he was doing for the people around him.
[00:17:12] He withdrew for a time and he prayed.
[00:17:17] And he sought God.
[00:17:21] And so,
[00:17:22] when we think about our own lives,
[00:17:25] I'm sure that each and every one of us can reflect on a time when we just felt,
[00:17:32] we are tired.
[00:17:35] We are spent.
[00:17:39] We know that God will be with us
[00:17:41] and that he will give us the strength
[00:17:44] to face whatever is to come.
[00:17:47] We even have faith and hope and confidence,
[00:17:51] knowing and having seen the testimonies of the Lord
[00:17:54] and his word fulfilled
[00:17:55] and incredible transformations taking place
[00:17:59] and even miracles being performed.
[00:18:02] I was listening to Derek Prince the other day
[00:18:06] and he commented that
[00:18:08] he considers the transformation of a human heart,
[00:18:14] the genuine born-again nature of the human experience
[00:18:20] to be the greatest miracle.
[00:18:23] And I tend to agree with him.
[00:18:25] I tend to agree with him.
[00:18:28] There is something so wonderful,
[00:18:33] so precious
[00:18:34] about the way that God deals with us
[00:18:38] and the tenderness
[00:18:40] of his Holy Spirit
[00:18:43] and the marvelous power
[00:18:46] of his salvation.
[00:18:49] And yet,
[00:18:50] so many of us
[00:18:51] simply take it for granted
[00:18:54] and go on about
[00:18:56] our things,
[00:18:58] the tasks that we have day to day,
[00:19:01] the pedestrian affairs of life.
[00:19:04] But could we not
[00:19:07] tilt our approach
[00:19:10] in our minds,
[00:19:12] in our thoughts,
[00:19:14] in our prayers?
[00:19:16] Could we not
[00:19:18] re-engage
[00:19:19] with the things that are true
[00:19:22] and noble
[00:19:23] and just
[00:19:24] and pure
[00:19:25] and lovely?
[00:19:27] At the very least,
[00:19:28] could we not
[00:19:29] trim the fat,
[00:19:30] so to speak,
[00:19:30] and get rid
[00:19:32] of something
[00:19:33] or some things
[00:19:34] that are not noble,
[00:19:36] are not pure?
[00:19:38] Certainly,
[00:19:39] that is the baseline.
[00:19:41] And so,
[00:19:43] just like David,
[00:19:44] we should cry out
[00:19:45] for the Lord
[00:19:46] to search us,
[00:19:48] to bring things
[00:19:49] to the surface,
[00:19:51] to cleanse us,
[00:19:53] to give us the power
[00:19:54] to move us forward,
[00:19:55] to transform us,
[00:19:56] working a miracle
[00:19:58] in our lives
[00:19:58] and our hearts
[00:19:59] to alter and adjust
[00:20:01] and conform our dispositions
[00:20:02] to his own,
[00:20:04] to give us
[00:20:05] his will
[00:20:06] by transforming
[00:20:08] our will
[00:20:09] so that it matches
[00:20:10] what he wants
[00:20:11] to accomplish
[00:20:12] in our lives.
[00:20:13] That is
[00:20:14] prayer for a miracle
[00:20:15] and
[00:20:16] God can do it.
[00:20:18] He wants to do it.
[00:20:20] It's his desire
[00:20:21] to see us
[00:20:22] transformed,
[00:20:24] to see us
[00:20:26] conformed
[00:20:27] to
[00:20:27] Jesus.
[00:20:29] And to see us
[00:20:30] led
[00:20:31] by the Holy Spirit
[00:20:33] so
[00:20:34] that we can
[00:20:35] serve God
[00:20:36] and to
[00:20:37] advance his kingdom
[00:20:38] for the sake
[00:20:40] of others
[00:20:40] who God also
[00:20:41] loves
[00:20:42] and wants to
[00:20:43] call to himself.
[00:20:44] Who knows
[00:20:47] exactly why
[00:20:48] in the fullness
[00:20:49] of time
[00:20:50] and causality
[00:20:51] we have been
[00:20:52] placed here
[00:20:53] at this moment.
[00:20:54] But it is not
[00:20:56] arbitrary
[00:20:56] and it's not
[00:20:57] happenstance.
[00:20:59] and again
[00:21:01] couldn't we
[00:21:01] just say
[00:21:02] at the end
[00:21:02] of all of this
[00:21:03] wouldn't it
[00:21:04] be nice?
[00:21:05] Wouldn't it
[00:21:06] be beneficial?
[00:21:09] Wouldn't it
[00:21:09] be good?
[00:21:10] Wouldn't it
[00:21:11] be better
[00:21:11] if the God
[00:21:12] of peace
[00:21:13] was with us?
[00:21:15] Not just
[00:21:16] intellectually
[00:21:17] but with us.
[00:21:19] With us
[00:21:20] in
[00:21:21] communion
[00:21:22] in fellowship
[00:21:24] amidst
[00:21:25] everything
[00:21:25] in our lives
[00:21:28] surely
[00:21:28] we would have
[00:21:29] to say yes.
[00:21:31] I mean
[00:21:32] if we were
[00:21:32] given a binary
[00:21:33] choice
[00:21:33] do you want
[00:21:34] the God
[00:21:34] of peace
[00:21:35] with you
[00:21:35] or not?
[00:21:36] We would
[00:21:37] say yes.
[00:21:39] So then
[00:21:40] what is
[00:21:41] the scripture
[00:21:42] that attaches
[00:21:43] to that promise?
[00:21:44] What's right here?
[00:21:46] Meditate
[00:21:46] on these things
[00:21:47] the good things
[00:21:48] the true things
[00:21:49] the noble things
[00:21:51] the lovely things
[00:21:52] the just things
[00:21:53] the virtuous things
[00:21:55] the praiseworthy things
[00:21:56] if we're not sure
[00:21:58] what those are
[00:21:58] well
[00:22:00] shouldn't we
[00:22:01] just ask God?
[00:22:03] Shouldn't we
[00:22:03] ask him
[00:22:04] to show us
[00:22:05] these things?
[00:22:06] To transform
[00:22:07] our thought life?
[00:22:09] Wouldn't that
[00:22:10] inexorably
[00:22:11] lead us
[00:22:12] to be
[00:22:13] more attentive
[00:22:15] to his word?
[00:22:17] Read Psalm 19
[00:22:18] and see the attitude
[00:22:19] of the psalmist
[00:22:20] and the way
[00:22:21] that the word of God
[00:22:23] and the commandments
[00:22:24] of God
[00:22:24] are cherished
[00:22:25] as good
[00:22:27] and righteous
[00:22:28] and true
[00:22:29] and valuable
[00:22:29] and precious
[00:22:32] worthy of being
[00:22:33] defended
[00:22:34] and taken seriously
[00:22:36] and acted upon
[00:22:38] absolutely worthy
[00:22:39] of being
[00:22:40] the focus
[00:22:41] of our lives
[00:22:42] it's difficult
[00:22:43] because we're all
[00:22:44] in different places
[00:22:46] as it pertains
[00:22:47] to this
[00:22:47] but could we
[00:22:49] just allow
[00:22:51] God
[00:22:51] through the leading
[00:22:53] of the Holy Spirit
[00:22:54] to move us
[00:22:56] in this direction
[00:22:56] even marginally
[00:22:58] would we even
[00:23:00] be hypothetically
[00:23:01] open to something
[00:23:02] like that?
[00:23:03] Surely
[00:23:04] the end goal
[00:23:04] is desirable
[00:23:06] surely
[00:23:07] it would even
[00:23:07] be a better
[00:23:08] use of our time
[00:23:09] it's not as if
[00:23:10] we're being presented
[00:23:11] with some
[00:23:12] Sisyphean task
[00:23:13] here
[00:23:13] roll this boulder
[00:23:14] up a hill
[00:23:15] endlessly
[00:23:15] and you'll
[00:23:16] receive this
[00:23:16] reward
[00:23:17] it's
[00:23:18] do something
[00:23:19] with our
[00:23:20] thought lives
[00:23:21] that is good
[00:23:22] for its own
[00:23:23] sake
[00:23:23] and we will
[00:23:24] receive
[00:23:24] this additional
[00:23:25] reward
[00:23:26] we know
[00:23:27] that we will
[00:23:31] this is an example
[00:23:32] of
[00:23:34] those sort of
[00:23:34] situations
[00:23:35] where people say
[00:23:36] yeah you can go
[00:23:37] on a diet
[00:23:38] and all you eat
[00:23:38] is delicious
[00:23:39] filling food
[00:23:40] it sounds too good
[00:23:41] to be true
[00:23:42] often it is
[00:23:43] sometimes it's a scam
[00:23:44] or a money grab
[00:23:45] or a grift
[00:23:46] here it's not
[00:23:47] you can do
[00:23:48] something
[00:23:49] that will provide
[00:23:51] immense value
[00:23:52] to you
[00:23:54] in the end result
[00:23:55] but also
[00:23:55] in the process
[00:23:57] of doing it
[00:23:58] this is not
[00:23:59] like
[00:24:00] going
[00:24:01] to the gym
[00:24:02] every day
[00:24:03] and working
[00:24:04] out
[00:24:04] and feeling
[00:24:05] the pain
[00:24:06] and punishment
[00:24:07] in your body
[00:24:07] as your muscles
[00:24:08] are torn apart
[00:24:10] so that they can
[00:24:11] regrow stronger
[00:24:11] this is
[00:24:14] all together
[00:24:16] fitting and
[00:24:17] proper
[00:24:17] it is
[00:24:19] the pathway
[00:24:20] of righteousness
[00:24:21] the path
[00:24:22] of peace
[00:24:23] the path
[00:24:24] of goodness
[00:24:24] and again
[00:24:25] it's not calling
[00:24:26] us to
[00:24:26] naivete
[00:24:27] or complacency
[00:24:29] or anything
[00:24:29] else like that
[00:24:30] but couldn't
[00:24:32] we
[00:24:32] all
[00:24:33] just allow
[00:24:35] God to
[00:24:36] change
[00:24:36] our behavior
[00:24:37] our will
[00:24:38] our approach
[00:24:39] so that
[00:24:41] whether it
[00:24:41] comes to
[00:24:42] political
[00:24:43] machinations
[00:24:45] geopolitics
[00:24:45] financial affairs
[00:24:47] relationships
[00:24:48] that we have
[00:24:49] any behaviors
[00:24:51] for that matter
[00:24:52] what is more
[00:24:54] important to us
[00:24:55] than having
[00:24:55] the God
[00:24:56] of peace
[00:24:56] with us
[00:24:57] and what
[00:24:58] do our
[00:24:58] actions
[00:24:59] say
[00:24:59] about our
[00:25:00] answer
[00:25:00] to that
[00:25:01] question
[00:25:01] so brothers
[00:25:03] and sisters
[00:25:03] I would
[00:25:04] encourage you
[00:25:05] wholeheartedly
[00:25:06] as I'm
[00:25:07] encouraging myself
[00:25:08] now
[00:25:08] to take this
[00:25:09] scripture
[00:25:10] seriously
[00:25:11] to understand
[00:25:12] that
[00:25:13] if
[00:25:15] we
[00:25:16] submit
[00:25:16] to God
[00:25:17] in this
[00:25:17] if
[00:25:18] we follow
[00:25:20] through
[00:25:20] on this
[00:25:22] that
[00:25:23] there's
[00:25:23] an
[00:25:24] incomparable
[00:25:24] blessing
[00:25:26] something
[00:25:26] of
[00:25:27] limitless
[00:25:28] value
[00:25:28] the
[00:25:29] presence
[00:25:29] of
[00:25:29] the
[00:25:29] God
[00:25:30] of
[00:25:30] peace
[00:25:31] which
[00:25:32] one
[00:25:32] of
[00:25:32] us
[00:25:32] can
[00:25:34] stake
[00:25:35] our
[00:25:35] claim
[00:25:36] and say
[00:25:36] the
[00:25:37] God
[00:25:37] of
[00:25:37] peace
[00:25:38] is
[00:25:51] ours
[00:25:52] and
[00:25:53] even
[00:25:53] if
[00:25:53] we
[00:25:54] had
[00:25:54] times
[00:25:54] and
[00:25:54] seasons
[00:25:55] when
[00:25:55] we
[00:25:56] could
[00:25:56] say
[00:25:57] that
[00:25:57] with
[00:25:58] an
[00:25:58] honest
[00:25:58] heart
[00:25:59] in a
[00:26:00] rejoicing
[00:26:01] way
[00:26:01] as
[00:26:03] earlier
[00:26:03] in this
[00:26:03] chapter
[00:26:04] in verse
[00:26:04] four
[00:26:04] we are
[00:26:05] supposed
[00:26:05] to rejoice
[00:26:06] in the
[00:26:06] Lord
[00:26:06] always
[00:26:07] to
[00:26:08] continually
[00:26:08] do
[00:26:09] so
[00:26:09] even
[00:26:10] if
[00:26:10] we've
[00:26:10] had
[00:26:11] a
[00:26:11] season
[00:26:11] like
[00:26:11] that
[00:26:13] wouldn't
[00:26:13] it
[00:26:13] be
[00:26:14] wise
[00:26:14] to
[00:26:15] pray
[00:26:15] for
[00:26:15] another
[00:26:16] season
[00:26:17] wouldn't
[00:26:18] it
[00:26:18] be
[00:26:18] wise
[00:26:18] to
[00:26:18] make
[00:26:19] that
[00:26:19] move
[00:26:19] again
[00:26:21] especially
[00:26:21] in
[00:26:22] situations
[00:26:23] where
[00:26:23] there
[00:26:23] are
[00:26:24] so
[00:26:24] many
[00:26:25] different
[00:26:25] things
[00:26:25] to
[00:26:25] focus
[00:26:26] on
[00:26:26] that
[00:26:26] are
[00:26:27] contentious
[00:26:28] and
[00:26:28] negative
[00:26:28] and
[00:26:29] challenging
[00:26:30] I
[00:26:31] would
[00:26:31] argue
[00:26:31] that we
[00:26:31] will
[00:26:32] only
[00:26:32] be
[00:26:32] properly
[00:26:32] equipped
[00:26:33] for
[00:26:34] these
[00:26:34] challenges
[00:26:35] if
[00:26:35] the
[00:26:36] God
[00:26:36] of
[00:26:36] peace
[00:26:36] is
[00:26:36] with
[00:26:37] us
[00:26:38] just
[00:26:39] as
[00:26:39] Jesus
[00:26:40] went
[00:26:41] to
[00:26:41] the
[00:26:41] wilderness
[00:26:41] to
[00:26:42] pray
[00:26:43] to
[00:26:43] receive
[00:26:44] and
[00:26:45] to
[00:26:45] be
[00:26:45] indwelt
[00:26:46] and
[00:26:46] to
[00:26:46] commune
[00:26:47] with
[00:26:47] God
[00:26:48] that
[00:26:49] is
[00:26:49] the
[00:26:49] pattern
[00:26:49] that
[00:26:50] he
[00:26:50] put
[00:26:50] forth
[00:26:52] and
[00:26:52] we
[00:26:52] should
[00:26:53] not
[00:26:53] be
[00:26:53] so
[00:26:53] bold
[00:26:53] as
[00:26:54] to
[00:26:54] say
[00:26:54] that
[00:26:54] we
[00:26:54] don't
[00:26:55] need
[00:26:55] the
[00:26:55] same
[00:26:56] so
[00:26:57] for
[00:26:58] anyone
[00:26:58] who
[00:26:58] is
[00:26:58] worn
[00:26:59] down
[00:27:00] and
[00:27:01] who
[00:27:02] the
[00:27:02] Holy
[00:27:02] Spirit
[00:27:02] is
[00:27:03] showing
[00:27:03] that
[00:27:04] part
[00:27:04] of
[00:27:06] that
[00:27:06] state
[00:27:06] of
[00:27:06] fatigue
[00:27:08] is
[00:27:08] because
[00:27:09] we
[00:27:10] have
[00:27:10] not
[00:27:10] prioritized
[00:27:11] the
[00:27:11] discipleship
[00:27:12] instructions
[00:27:13] in this
[00:27:13] scripture
[00:27:13] start
[00:27:14] now
[00:27:15] start
[00:27:16] now
[00:27:16] we'll
[00:27:18] pray
[00:27:18] we'll
[00:27:19] pray
[00:27:19] out
[00:27:19] but
[00:27:20] don't
[00:27:21] go
[00:27:21] anywhere
[00:27:21] else
[00:27:21] when
[00:27:22] this
[00:27:22] is
[00:27:23] done
[00:27:23] try
[00:27:24] to
[00:27:26] find
[00:27:26] quiet
[00:27:26] to
[00:27:36] God
[00:27:38] and
[00:27:49] God
[00:27:50] will
[00:27:50] honor
[00:27:50] his
[00:27:51] promise
[00:27:52] if
[00:27:52] we
[00:27:52] will
[00:27:52] do
[00:27:53] this
[00:27:53] the
[00:27:54] God
[00:27:54] of
[00:27:54] peace
[00:27:54] will
[00:27:55] be
[00:27:55] with
[00:27:55] us
[00:27:56] and
[00:27:56] what
[00:27:56] does
[00:27:56] it
[00:27:57] say
[00:27:57] in
[00:27:57] verse
[00:27:57] seven
[00:27:58] of
[00:27:58] this
[00:27:58] same
[00:27:58] chapter
[00:27:59] the
[00:28:00] peace
[00:28:00] of
[00:28:00] God
[00:28:01] which
[00:28:02] surpasses
[00:28:02] all
[00:28:03] understanding
[00:28:03] will
[00:28:04] guard
[00:28:04] your
[00:28:05] hearts
[00:28:05] and
[00:28:05] minds
[00:28:06] through
[00:28:06] Christ
[00:28:06] Jesus
[00:28:07] we
[00:28:08] are
[00:28:08] guarded
[00:28:09] by
[00:28:09] peace
[00:28:10] Jesus
[00:28:11] is
[00:28:12] the
[00:28:12] prince
[00:28:12] of
[00:28:12] peace
[00:28:14] may
[00:28:14] the
[00:28:14] God
[00:28:15] of
[00:28:15] peace
[00:28:15] be
[00:28:16] with
[00:28:16] you
[00:28:16] at
[00:28:17] all
[00:28:17] times
[00:28:19] Lord
[00:28:20] help
[00:28:20] us
[00:28:21] we
[00:28:22] are
[00:28:22] unable
[00:28:22] to
[00:28:23] reorient
[00:28:24] our
[00:28:24] thoughts
[00:28:24] and
[00:28:25] our
[00:28:25] will
[00:28:25] towards
[00:28:26] what
[00:28:27] we
[00:28:27] need
[00:28:27] to
[00:28:27] focus
[00:28:27] on
[00:28:28] we
[00:28:29] do
[00:28:29] not
[00:28:29] have
[00:28:29] the
[00:28:30] ability
[00:28:30] to
[00:28:31] do
[00:28:31] that
[00:28:31] but
[00:28:31] you
[00:28:32] do
[00:28:32] Lord
[00:28:32] you
[00:28:33] are
[00:28:33] sovereign
[00:28:34] over
[00:28:35] our
[00:28:35] thoughts
[00:28:36] and
[00:28:36] over
[00:28:36] our
[00:28:36] minds
[00:28:37] and
[00:28:37] over
[00:28:37] everything
[00:28:38] we
[00:28:39] pray
[00:28:39] Holy
[00:28:40] Spirit
[00:28:40] that
[00:28:41] you
[00:28:41] would
[00:28:41] come
[00:28:41] quickly
[00:28:42] that
[00:28:42] you
[00:28:43] would
[00:28:43] fill
[00:28:43] us
[00:28:43] to
[00:28:44] overflowing
[00:28:45] with
[00:28:46] a
[00:28:46] confirmation
[00:28:47] of
[00:28:48] your
[00:28:48] peace
[00:28:50] knowing
[00:28:51] Lord
[00:28:51] that
[00:28:51] your
[00:28:52] peace
[00:28:52] is
[00:28:52] one
[00:28:53] of
[00:28:53] these
[00:28:53] things
[00:28:53] that
[00:28:53] are
[00:28:54] true
[00:28:54] and
[00:28:54] noble
[00:28:54] and
[00:28:55] just
[00:28:55] and
[00:28:55] pure
[00:28:55] and
[00:28:56] lovely
[00:28:56] and
[00:28:57] are
[00:28:57] of
[00:28:57] good
[00:28:58] report
[00:28:58] your
[00:28:59] peace
[00:28:59] and
[00:29:00] your
[00:29:00] presence
[00:29:00] and
[00:29:01] your
[00:29:01] word
[00:29:01] fulfill
[00:29:02] all
[00:29:03] of
[00:29:03] these
[00:29:03] categories
[00:29:05] so
[00:29:05] bring
[00:29:06] us
[00:29:06] bring
[00:29:07] to
[00:29:08] our
[00:29:08] mind
[00:29:08] what
[00:29:09] we
[00:29:10] need
[00:29:10] to
[00:29:10] focus
[00:29:10] on
[00:29:11] what
[00:29:11] our
[00:29:12] attention
[00:29:12] should
[00:29:12] be
[00:29:12] drawn
[00:29:13] to
[00:29:13] don't
[00:29:14] let
[00:29:14] us
[00:29:14] grow
[00:29:14] naive
[00:29:16] of
[00:29:16] the
[00:29:16] challenges
[00:29:17] that
[00:29:17] we
[00:29:17] face
[00:29:17] in
[00:29:18] this
[00:29:18] pursuit
[00:29:18] but
[00:29:19] use
[00:29:19] this
[00:29:19] as
[00:29:20] a
[00:29:20] means
[00:29:21] of
[00:29:21] equipping
[00:29:22] us
[00:29:22] Lord
[00:29:22] to
[00:29:23] accomplish
[00:29:23] your
[00:29:23] will
[00:29:24] in
[00:29:24] every
[00:29:24] arena
[00:29:25] to
[00:29:26] fulfill
[00:29:26] your
[00:29:27] word
[00:29:27] wherever
[00:29:28] we
[00:29:28] are
[00:29:28] planted
[00:29:29] to
[00:29:30] bear
[00:29:30] fruit
[00:29:30] for
[00:29:30] your
[00:29:31] kingdom
[00:29:31] in
[00:29:31] every
[00:29:32] season
[00:29:32] God
[00:29:33] you
[00:29:34] are
[00:29:34] good
[00:29:35] and
[00:29:35] your
[00:29:36] mercy
[00:29:36] endures
[00:29:36] forever
[00:29:37] you
[00:29:38] are
[00:29:38] holy
[00:29:38] and
[00:29:39] righteous
[00:29:39] and
[00:29:40] true
[00:29:41] help
[00:29:42] us
[00:29:42] to
[00:29:42] understand
[00:29:43] these
[00:29:43] things
[00:29:44] help
[00:29:45] us
[00:29:45] to
[00:29:45] redeem
[00:29:46] the
[00:29:46] time
[00:29:46] Lord
[00:29:47] forgive
[00:29:48] us
[00:29:48] for
[00:29:49] not
[00:29:50] honoring
[00:29:50] this
[00:29:51] instruction
[00:29:51] forgive
[00:29:52] us
[00:29:53] for
[00:29:53] falling
[00:29:54] short
[00:29:54] and
[00:29:55] for
[00:29:55] sinning
[00:29:56] as
[00:29:58] we
[00:30:00] don't
[00:30:01] prioritize
[00:30:02] the right
[00:30:03] things in
[00:30:04] our thought
[00:30:04] life
[00:30:04] Lord
[00:30:06] help us
[00:30:06] to be
[00:30:07] your
[00:30:08] people
[00:30:09] a
[00:30:10] people
[00:30:11] who
[00:30:12] you
[00:30:13] deserve
[00:30:13] a
[00:30:15] transformed
[00:30:15] people
[00:30:16] a
[00:30:17] miraculous
[00:30:18] people
[00:30:18] a
[00:30:19] supernatural
[00:30:20] people
[00:30:20] and a
[00:30:22] people
[00:30:22] full
[00:30:23] of
[00:30:23] peace
[00:30:25] peace
[00:30:25] stands
[00:30:26] out
[00:30:26] in a
[00:30:27] world
[00:30:27] of
[00:30:27] conflict
[00:30:29] peace
[00:30:30] stands
[00:30:30] out
[00:30:30] in a
[00:30:32] world
[00:30:32] of
[00:30:32] war
[00:30:34] peace
[00:30:34] stands
[00:30:35] out
[00:30:35] in
[00:30:36] this
[00:30:36] conflict
[00:30:37] and
[00:30:38] yes
[00:30:39] help
[00:30:40] us
[00:30:40] Lord
[00:30:41] to
[00:30:41] fight
[00:30:41] the
[00:30:41] good
[00:30:41] fight
[00:30:41] of
[00:30:42] faith
[00:30:42] but
[00:30:43] to
[00:30:43] do
[00:30:44] so
[00:30:44] motivated
[00:30:45] by
[00:30:46] justice
[00:30:46] and
[00:30:47] by
[00:30:47] peace
[00:30:47] and
[00:30:48] help
[00:30:48] us
[00:30:49] to
[00:30:49] be
[00:30:49] full
[00:30:50] of
[00:30:50] peace
[00:30:50] in
[00:30:51] every
[00:30:52] time
[00:30:52] and
[00:30:53] every
[00:30:53] season
[00:30:53] Lord
[00:30:54] only
[00:30:54] you
[00:30:55] can
[00:30:55] accomplish
[00:30:55] this
[00:30:56] we're
[00:30:57] not
[00:30:57] going
[00:30:57] to
[00:30:57] be
[00:30:58] able
[00:30:58] to
[00:30:58] follow
[00:30:59] a
[00:30:59] checklist
[00:31:00] or
[00:31:00] some
[00:31:00] prescription
[00:31:01] but
[00:31:02] Lord
[00:31:03] lead us
[00:31:03] in the
[00:31:04] way
[00:31:04] that
[00:31:04] we
[00:31:04] should
[00:31:04] go
[00:31:06] guard
[00:31:06] our
[00:31:07] hearts
[00:31:07] and
[00:31:07] minds
[00:31:08] through
[00:31:08] the
[00:31:09] peace
[00:31:09] that
[00:31:10] you
[00:31:10] provide
[00:31:11] through
[00:31:12] the
[00:31:12] sanctuary
[00:31:14] established
[00:31:15] by
[00:31:15] Jesus
[00:31:16] Jesus
[00:31:19] you
[00:31:19] are
[00:31:19] our
[00:31:20] high
[00:31:20] priest
[00:31:21] minister
[00:31:22] to us
[00:31:22] through
[00:31:23] your
[00:31:23] word
[00:31:23] holy
[00:31:24] spirit
[00:31:25] you
[00:31:25] are
[00:31:25] our
[00:31:25] comforter
[00:31:27] minister
[00:31:28] to us
[00:31:28] through
[00:31:28] your
[00:31:28] presence
[00:31:30] we
[00:31:31] worship
[00:31:31] you
[00:31:31] Lord
[00:31:31] and
[00:31:32] pray
[00:31:32] that
[00:31:32] each
[00:31:33] and
[00:31:33] every
[00:31:33] person
[00:31:33] listening
[00:31:34] would
[00:31:34] receive
[00:31:34] the
[00:31:35] blessing
[00:31:35] of
[00:31:36] peace
[00:31:37] would
[00:31:38] receive
[00:31:38] the
[00:31:38] blessing
[00:31:39] of
[00:31:39] greater
[00:31:39] discipline
[00:31:40] in
[00:31:40] our
[00:31:41] thought
[00:31:41] lives
[00:31:42] would
[00:31:43] receive
[00:31:43] all the
[00:31:43] blessings
[00:31:44] that
[00:31:44] come
[00:31:44] from
[00:31:45] the
[00:31:45] marvelous
[00:31:46] promises
[00:31:46] that
[00:31:47] you
[00:31:53] experience
[00:31:54] more
[00:31:55] of
[00:31:55] your
[00:31:55] presence
[00:31:56] give
[00:31:57] us
[00:31:57] right
[00:31:57] doctrine
[00:31:58] in
[00:31:58] these
[00:31:58] things
[00:31:59] help
[00:31:59] us
[00:31:59] understand
[00:32:00] the
[00:32:00] balance
[00:32:00] show
[00:32:01] us
[00:32:01] Lord
[00:32:01] where
[00:32:02] we
[00:32:02] have
[00:32:03] strayed
[00:32:03] and
[00:32:04] where
[00:32:04] our
[00:32:04] errors
[00:32:05] are
[00:32:05] and
[00:32:05] what
[00:32:05] corrections
[00:32:06] need
[00:32:06] to
[00:32:06] be
[00:32:06] made
[00:32:07] we
[00:32:08] want
[00:32:08] you
[00:32:08] Lord
[00:32:10] we
[00:32:10] want
[00:32:11] you
[00:32:11] you
[00:32:12] are
[00:32:12] the
[00:32:12] God
[00:32:13] of
[00:32:13] peace
[00:32:14] and
[00:32:15] it
[00:32:15] will
[00:32:15] forever
[00:32:15] be
[00:32:15] so
[00:32:16] let
[00:32:17] your
[00:32:17] word
[00:32:17] stand
[00:32:18] let
[00:32:19] it
[00:32:19] not
[00:32:19] return
[00:32:19] void
[00:32:20] let
[00:32:21] your
[00:32:21] promises
[00:32:22] be
[00:32:22] fulfilled
[00:32:22] and
[00:32:23] let
[00:32:23] us
[00:32:23] serve
[00:32:23] as
[00:32:24] a
[00:32:24] testimony
[00:32:24] of
[00:32:25] your
[00:32:25] goodness
[00:32:26] in
[00:32:26] this
[00:32:26] generation
[00:32:27] we
[00:32:28] love
[00:32:28] you
[00:32:28] Jesus
[00:32:28] we
[00:32:29] praise
[00:32:29] you
[00:32:30] and
[00:32:30] bless
[00:32:31] you
[00:32:31] our
[00:32:32] prince
[00:32:32] of
[00:32:32] peace
