Oh you know what, that's the wrong show. Good evening, folks, and welcome to reality Check. My name is Michael Klein. I got you going there for a few minutes, did I hope everyone's having a good evening this weekend. It's Friday, It's Friday night, the start of the weekend. If you're listening to us on blog, talk radio or any other kind of streaming service, switch over to prepper Broadcasting dot com. That is Prepperbroadcasting dot com and join our chat room. We have a live chat every night. Well, when we have a live show, there's a chat room. It's a live chat and you can get in there and you can talk with a bunch of other people and they have really really great insight on things. You know, there's a lot of good people in there. I see a bunch of regulars in there tonight. Appreciate y'all joining us. And you know, if you just if you really want to have some good commentary and some good fun and poking fun at me, the live chat is the way to do it. Also, don't forget if you are unable to listen to us on the internet. So if you have one of the old style flip phones like me, and you always want to listen in and you can't get online, a way to do that is you can actually call We have a phone number and you can call it and you can listen to the show, so you want to die all three four seven two zero two zero two two eight, And if you have any questions or you want to make a comment, you can actually press the number one on the phone and you get dropped into a queue and then you can talk to me live on air. So if you miss the number three four seven two zero two zero two two eight. So for some of my regulars, in our last two shows, we looked at bugging in and bugging out, and hopefully you kind of decided what may be best for you and your family. You said, you know what I've got the I listened to your show. That was all really good information. But I'm going to do my own thing, and We've got a plan, you know what. That's great. However, for those of you that are bugging in, let's circle the wagons. And as the famous line from Home a Loan goes, this is my house, I have to defend it. So if everybody remembers the movie, they remember the battle plan from Kevin's where Kevin laid out his battle plan. And on the battle plan he's got all his traps and how he's gonna get the bad guys and everything and that's what you need. You need a battle plan to defend your home. And so for the next two nights or the next two shows, we're gonna be going over defending your home. So I'm going to give you some ideas now gaining These are ideas you may or may not want to implement these. I'm just giving you the fodder to spur ideas. What you do with it is you and yours. I cannot be held accountable. So we need to develop a battle plan. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna think of this like a game of chess, where you need to anticipate what your opponent might do. So in the game of chess, you have to think three moves ahead, and the same thing is going to happen here. If you think three moves ahead. If I was a bad guy and I did this, what would I do? If I was a bad guy and I did this, what would I do? Think three moves ahead and you'll never get behind. So what do I mean by that? Well, as I said, you want to play the part of the bad guy. You want to think to yourself, if I wanted to break into this house and I wanted to get the stuff that was inside. What would I do? How would I do it? You know, are there tall bushes that I can hide behind? Do I have a big dog or do I have the appearance of a big dog with a large water bowl and a food bowl that's been placed outside where someone can see it. Do I have a sliding glass door that I could easily break in? Do I have countermeasures for the sliding glass door? So those are the kind of things that we're going to think of. So some of you are asking yourself, you know, why do I need to do this in the first place. You know, you sound like you're really going off the deep end really fast, and I know a lot of people out there are going, well, guess what, Lick. The world is not melting down, and I'm not going to put out razor wire and land mines just yet. And that's cool. But the reason you need to start now and thinking about what you want to do and start writing it out and putting serious thought with it is we really don't know how much time we have left. And I'm not talking religious. You know, we all hope that North Korea and China and Russia and Iran all stay on the peaceful side of things, but you just never know. You never know when somebody's going to interpret something wrong and then one of a nuclear capable country is going to do something stupid, or just anybody, you know. You never you never know when a blackout is going to cause a city to descend in chaos. So after the show, don't do it now, But after the show, I encourage you to go research the results of the New York blackouts from nineteen seventy seven and two thousand and three. So look what happened to the city, and look what resulted and what people did during the New York City blackouts of seventy seven and o three. And then once you do that, then go research the effects of the two thousand and one Southwest blackout, and what you're going to find is, in all of these cases, there was a lot of panic, and bad people used it as an excuse to do bad things, as they do every time anytime something crazy happens. The bad people use it as an excuse to break stuff and set stuff on fire. So the point is, you never know when this is going to happen. It can even be a bright sunny day on a Saturday afternoon when nothing's wrong, and some drunk fool goes out and decides he wants to start shooting transformers for target practice, and he pops a few shells and the transformer it leaks all the oil out, you know, all the cooling mineral oil drains out, and then guess what, the transformer fails and your city goes into blackout. So it doesn't have to be, you know, a major SHTF event. It can be something as simple as you know, a transformer blowing or whatever else. So that's why I say we need to go ahead and think about things. We need to think about what would happen if they're to fill in the blank. So remember, bring a major event, your priority is protecting your home and protecting your family. That that's what your job is is you protect the house and you protect your family. You are going to have countless unimagined threats coming at you, so things you can't even think of are gonna be happening. And especially if the event rolls into more like three days, you know it's gonna be it's gonna be tough. So more more or less, you know, if something goes wrong seventy two hours, forty eight hours, whatever, people are going okay, well it's only been three days. It's only localized, so I can go somewhere else. Remember I mentioned in a show a couple of couple of weeks ago about you can go one state over and everything's okay, and you go get a book, a hotel, You go to dinner, you enjoy your steak and a few beers, and you go sleep in the hotel. You get up the next morning and come back to your house and everything's honky dory. Well, if the event rolls into more than three days, let's say that it's going three weeks and three months kind of thing. You know, then that's one you have to think about because you have to. I know y'all will have heard this that it's said society is only nine meals away from anarchy. That's three days, three meals a day for three days, that's nine meals. So you think about it, society is only nine meals away from anarchy. And you know, you have to remember, desperate people do desperate things. And this includes people who won't tostill your belongings, people who want simply want to just sniff around. They're curious, and they're going to use the event to satisfy their curiosity. And this includes people that may want to cause you harm or harm to you, you know, harm to your family, harm to your property. There are people in this world that are evil. That I mean, they're just pure evil and the only joy they get out of life is by making other people miserable and causing problems, pure and simple, no other reason. That's what they do. They get up in the morning and they think, what can I do to make somebody else miserable? Do it? You know, And if you have a homestead, then you have the added risk of your animals. So being in an hoa or being in the community, you're being in a city, you're pretty much dealing with the two legged kind. But if you live out in the country and you have a homestead and you have your goats and your chickens and you know, all your barnard animals, now you have to you have a bigger risk. So failure to have security measures in place can end the lot. And you know that can end with the light, That can end with the loss of livestock. That's a tongue twister. Loss of livestock can also be a loss of property and danger to your life. So you know, chicken thieves are going to be a real thing. So chicken thieves and people steal them from your garden, that's going to be a common item. And again we're talking about you know, multi week, multi month. I don't think that, you know, if a tornado ripped through the trailer park. And I'm not making fun of anybody in the trailer park, but if a tornado comes through and destroys a bunch of trailers, I don't think people are going to go to stealing chickens and the in you know, vegetables and cows in three days that turns into three weeks. You better believe they will. And I'm not making fun of anybody because I used to live in a trailer. So don't get your don't get up at the about if you live in a trailer. I love trailer, so I was I made Ek the Queen and my double wide trailer. So we have to take steps now to keep the four legged animals as well as the two legged animals out of our stuff. And a simple fence may not, you know, may not do. So where do we start? What do we do? Well? The first thing we need to do is we need to get to know our surroundings. Use Google Maps or use being and get an aerial view of your house and all your land out to about five or ten miles. So you start, you know, you put your house in the middle or your property in the middle, and look at everything out five or ten miles. And what you want to do is you want to map out all the possible resources for food, for water, for supplies. You know, we all know that the grocery store and the liquor stores are going to get looted. I mean, that's just pretty much banking on it. But think about auto parts stores and boutique clothing stores and even baby or maternity stores. You know, those places may not get hit, but they offer a great source of resources. So that's why I say, you know, figure out what is near you five or ten miles out, and that's also going to be you know, ponds and streams, and maybe some guy that you know only is here for half the year and then he leaves the other half of the year and his house is vacant. Not saying one way or the other, just you mark it on the map. Another thing that you need to map out is your problem neighbors and your friendly neighbors. So on your map you would mark the location of places or people that are friendly, as well as areas and houses to a So you know, we always have that one house where people are coming and going at all hours of the night, and we all know what's going on there, and you know that if something goes wrong, the people coming and going to that one house are going to spread out and they're not going to be you know, the good people trying to ask if they can help. So there's that. Another thing that you can do with the map. Same thing with the map is track the crime in your area, and you want to find the hot spots, so you can map out areas to avoid. And there are two websites that are pretty good at this, and I would post them in the chat room, but I have my notes on a different window than the chat so I'm going to read them off. And it's Crimereports dot com Crime and then reports all one word Crimereports dot com. And then the other one is spot crime dot com, spot Crime dot com all one word spot crime. So those two websites are actually pretty good for this, Crime Reports and spot Crime. And what you can do is you click on that you put in some information. I set the period to thirty days to start with, so it starts from today and goes back thirty days, and it shows you all of the crime that has been reported in your area. Now, granted it has to be reported, there has to be a report filed on it. You know, the police have to investigate that kind of thing for it to show up on the map. But it can show you where the hotspots are. It can show you where the good areas are, it can show you where the bad areas are. And you know, here's an idea you could do this month to month. You could start today and you say, at the end of the month, I'm going to run them report and I'm going to take a screen shot. And then the next month, at the end of the month, I'm going to run the report and I'm going to take a screenshot and you analyze the differences, and that way you can track crimes and trends and you can see if the hotspots are actually moving, if they're moving to you or moving away from you, or if you know what's happening. So that's something to do with the map. Another thing to do when you're using the maps or when you're mapping out your stuff is you want to map out the egress and the ingress points. What I mean by that are the roads and places that come into and out of your area. And remember this can include power line right of ways, because just because it's not paved doesn't mean it can't be traveled. So you have to think of any way. You know, if there's a if you've got a big stretch of woods and all of a sudden the woods break, that's a place that you could come in and out of. So in egress and ingress and egress points coming into out of your area, you know, think about what what you need to do and where you need to go. So I'm gonna get to the second one here in just a second. I'm actually good. We're gonna take a break. We've got a few really really great sponsors, and I want to go ahead and mention them while i'm thinking about it, because if not, I'm gonna get off on a tangent and i'm gonna be chasing a rabbit and I'll forget about it. So let's go ahead and take a quick break. G man, if you want to hit. Visit Tradingpost in the Woods dot com. That's Tradingpost Inthewoods dot com number two. So we've talked about the maps. We've mapped everything out. The next thing we're going to do is we want to gather document an inventory all current food, water, resources and supplies that we have. So basically what we're going to do is we're taking an inventory of our entire stash, everything we have, any place we might have stored it. This is going to be what we have as well as what we might need long term. So you know, you have a lot of food, you have a lot of water. What are you going to do when that runs out? You need to make a list of everything that you have and everything you need. So make a list, and you want to make plans so that you can acquire a critical supplies and tools. And again you want to think food, water, shelter and security. You know, as an example, stock up on tarps. Tarps, well, you want to stalk up on large tarps in case a tree falls and punches a hole in your roof, or in case, you know, hailstones come through. You know, it rains and it haills, and we have, for some unknown reason, we have you know, soft ball sized hell and it punches a hole in your roof. Well in grid down. You're not going to get that fixed. So tarps, you know, that's something to think about. And that's the kind of things I'm talking about. One of the other things that you want to do is in one of your previous shows, I talked about this, and I talked about making friends with your family and your neighbors and making a mental inventory of what they have. So you go back and recap. What I was saying is, go around and make friends with all of your neighbors, whether you like them or not, whether you agree with what they think or not, make friends with them. Swallow your pride. Go over there and make friends. When they invite you in, or when they invite you you know, near the front door, make a mental note of what they have. You know, you can go to different houses during the gift with gifts during the holidays we've got Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, or even Halloween. Man, how old wow, I just thought of that. Halloween. You can if you have kids, you go around to the different houses in Halloween and you walk up to the door with them and when the couple opens the door to hand you the food, hand you the candy, look in the house, look to see what's behind them. You know, do they have a lot of really expensive stuff or they kind of pour you know, you go through and you make a mental note of what everybody has in their house and what kind of demeanor people have, and you make that into your inventory, you know. Or during the holidays when you actually get to walk up to their door and ring their doorbell and hey, I'm your neighbor. Here's a gift basket. Oh, thank you so much. And while they're talking, you look behind them and you see what's in their house, and you make a mental picture of what is in view from the front door. Now, I'm just saying, I'm not saying you should do this or not. You know, it's just an idea to spur thinking, is all. I'm saying you should do you can read into that however you want. So anyway, Oh, here's an evil idea. Not that you should do this, but if you want to do this, do you have a bogus pantry? Do you have a false pantry that is filled with food and it's meant to be a decoy. So do you have a pantry that is filled with old or expired food and it's meant to be a decoy. So in the event that you're compromised, you point the enemy to that pantry and you can say, you know, take all the food, just don't hurt me. You can have everything that's in there. I won't fight, you know, I'll sit here on the couch. You can load it up. Just don't shoot me or the family. And you know, they take all your food, but you know, you get the last laugh. Well, provided they don't shoot you. You get the last laugh because all of your real good stuff is stored somewhere else, not in the you know, the main floor pantry. So they think they've gotten a good thing, whereas you go, huh, they got all my old stuff. They just helped me rotate my stock. Anyway, again, just an idea, let's see third one. We can think of it all right now, this is going to be the big one. And if you have a paper and pen, I suggest you get it because you may want to make notes on this one. If not, then please please please go back and re listen to the show because these are going to be some really interesting subjects. So behavioral problems. We have all got behavioral problems, and we need to learn new disciplines. Everybody's got a disciplinary issue. Everybody listening is you've got a disciplinary issue, You've got a behavioral problem, and you need to get it fixed. Well, currently, right now, this is no big deal. But in a grid down situation, this is going to be crucial and you're gonna need to get it fixed. So here's what we do. Again. We don't have to worry about this right now, but it's something you want to start thinking about and start making plans for. So first off, light light discipline. Uh, some of you are gonna remember this, but back in World War One and World War two, I think they add people that would go around and they would monitor for lights, and when there was an air raid, they would run around and they would say, you know, douse that light or turn that light off kind of thing. You need to have light discipline so that when the sun goes down, you don't display any light. If you have lights and people can see it, lights mean people people are inside, which means supplies, which means god, I'm going to go break into that house. So how do you fix that? Well, you can buy blackout curtains, like what the hotels and motels use, So blackout curtains or even black you know, black plastic, black bags, or tenfoil. Now, I don't suggest putting tenfoil and black pastic bags up on your windows right now, because that pretty much says you're a drug dealer. But in the event of a grid down, you know, hey, blackout curtains, trash bags, tenfoil, whatever you got to do. You want to make it look is though that you don't have any luxury lighting, you know, you just want to make it sure that you look like no one's home. That nub in the chat room put to put it perfectly. You know, he works the grade yard shift or people that work the graveyard shift. They have supplies for like that, and so you would not look out of place going and buying that kind of stuff when you you know, I'm buying blackout curtains or I'm buying all this kind of stuff, And if the clerk looks at you weird and you go, look, man, I work nights. I have to sleep during the day, They're not going to think a second thing about that. So that nub, that is a great idea. If you work the grade yard shift, then you already know what I'm talking about. If you don't work it, then you can use that as an excuse to do it. So if that nub in the chat room, man, he is awesome. For those of you that are not in our live chat room, you miss a lot of good things because there's a lot of good people. All right. So we've blacked out the curtains and everything, and you're thinking, well, that's no big deal. I'm just gonna use candles. The candle's not very bright. Yeah, Have you ever lit a single candle to see how far away you can see it? I don't know if y'all know this, but one candle power travels a long ways at night, and you think, if there's no other light pollution, that one little candle flame, if it's hit that they're just the right angle, you know, just the right angle where the light goes through the two curtains and it travels a couple of miles away, and there's one guy and he's like, do you see that? Yeah? I see that. What is that? I think that's a house. There's a candle on in there. Oh good, there's people there. Let's go raid them, you know, don't be that person. Don't be the beacon on the hill. Don't be the lighthouse that's showing off a I've got you know, I've got lights and stuff, all right. The next one is conceal your fires and smoke. So everybody should research this again after the show Not Daring research the Dakota Hole, and so a lot of people go, oh yeah, Dakota holes. Man, there's things are awesome. So Dakota Hole d a ko t A for those of you that are listening that have no idea what I'm saying or can't understand my southern dry ealect, Dakota hole like South Dakota, South Dakota, North Dakoda, you know, Dakota holes and rocket stoves. Rocket stoves another good one reason why these have a lot better combustion and they produce less smoke. So when when you burn wood, the smoke is basically a sign of bad combustion, and so people can smell the smoke, people can see the smoke, and so these are two things that produce less smoke as a nifty example, and you can try this, but as a nifty example, I have one of those charcoal chimney starters. You know, it's like the aluminum chimney, and you pour charcoal in it and you stick a light under the bottom and it lights, and then you pour it in your grill blah blah blah. Well, occasionally, if I'm cooking for myself or if I'm just making something small, I just use that. I just pour charcoal in it, I light it, I let it get up the flame. I put a grill grade on top of it, and I just cook on it. It's like six inches in diameter, and it's fine for like one steak or a couple of hamburgers. But amazingly, there is very very little smoke that comes off of that thing, since the fire is doing a really good, good, really good job at combustion. I mean, the combustion on the thing is really good. And I encourage you all to try this as a homework assign. Make a regular if the if you have a charcoal grill. If you have a gas grill, this doesn't work. But if a charcoal grill grill like you would regularly on a charcoal grill, and just make note of the smoke that comes off, the food that comes off the fire, everything else. Just make a note of the smoke coming off a charcoal grill and then do the same thing with the chimney and see how much there is a different prints in the smoke. I bet when you do it, you'll find that the chimney, even though your food's cooking the same food, the smoke coming off the chimney is a lot lot less. So that's an idea, and we take We touched on this last week, but learn to navigate your house in the dark. So we talked about it last week. It's called cognitive mapping. And for those of you in the chat room or for those of you listening, it's kind of how the blind navigate. You can't see you, you make a cognitive map of your of your area, and it's really good because you're gonna learn the locations of doors, you're gonna learn the locations of walls and and furniture and stuff. The only word problem is that it still requires the use of your toes, and that's to find tables, couches, and bedposts. We still have to find those things in the dark using our toes. But everything else, you know, your brain will kind of make a make a map of it. Uh. So we have light discipline, we're gonna have, you know, like smoke discipline kind of thinging. Another one we want to have is sound discipline. So in a grid down, sound will travel a very long ways, and people are going to be used to hearing silence. So at night, when there's just only crickets and stuff, you get used to hearing the forest noises and then anything else like a twig snap or something you zero in on that. Well, the same thing isn't true in an extended grid down scenario where anything out of the ordinary is going to be you hear it, so generators, dogs, barking, laughter, crying babies, or even radio traffic. You've got the radio and you know you're walking around with doing a perimeter security and somebody calls you on the radio that noise is going to travel pretty far and it's going to cut through the silence. You know. Again, short term is not a problem. But after several weeks or after several months, sound discipline is going to be an issue, and you're gonna have to think about that. And while we're on thinking of them, by about dogs. Dogs are great. I love my dogs. Dogs are great for giving you early warning. They can deter intruders if they're big enough, but they can also bring unwanted attention. So if you're trying to remain quiet and you're trying to maintain a low profile, you've seen the intruder. You know there is the party that's going past you on the road, and as long as you don't make a noise or anything, they're just gonna walk on past and not think anything's wrong. And then all of a sudden, the dog just goes nuts and he starts barking. Well, guess what dogs mean humans and humans mean food because the dogs have to be fed. And if someone hears a dog barking, they're gonna know there's people there that are feeding the dog, which means there's food available. So that's another thing to think about, is dogs barking that everything are going to ruin that, especially small dogs. Again, I got small dogs. I got nothing against small dogs, But a high pitched dog bark and a low pitch dog bark are going to carry different distances and different you know, the different frequencies and different bouncing off everything. So yeah, good night, Ferggy. I hate see you go into bed so soon, but have a good one, Jay, Ferggy. All right. So next up is smell discipline. Smells, so grilling, smoking foods, tobacco products, you know, burning burning wood, all of that travels. So the smell of smoke and the smell of what's on the smoke is going to travel a very long ways, and you need to be aware that if you're cooking over a fire, like if you've got a Dutch oven and you're cooking a pot of stew or you're breaking bread or you're cooking meat, you know, on top of the fire, that smell is going to travel with the smoke because the the smell the liquid in whatever you're cooking is going to aerosol and it's going to blend them with the smoke and the wind's going to carry it. So you know, ever, everybody knows when somebody's grilling. So if you roll into your great neighborhood and you've got your windows down, you know when somebody's grilling you know, oh man, somebody's grilling hamburgers. Well, guess what, in a grid down situation, that's not gonna be copaesetic. That's gonna be a bad thing. So as a mitigating factor, think about a sun oven. Now, I'm not plugging sun ovens. They're not my sponsor. I do own one. I have one, and I like it, and I'm not plugging them as a sponsor anything. But a sun oven is a really great thing to have because these don't require fuel. There's no smoke, there's no fire, and the food does not put off an odor. The reason why is like the smell of baking bread and you have big old pot of beans cooking in it, all of that is contained inside of the oven and it's only going to escape when you open door. So there's a glass door and it's got a gasket, and all of the smell of whatever you're cooking stays inside the sun oven. So if the wind blowing and no big deal. The food is only going to smell once you open the door to either take stuff in or stir it or whatever. And you know that dissipates pretty quick. So just an idea to mitigate the smell discipline is having a son of and are having you know, stern o to heat something up in your house or you know whatever, some kind of chafing dish or whatnot. Let's see here the next one up. Scroll down on my notes. Oh oh, went too far old. Please sanitation and cleanliness. So everybody's going to have to learn sanitation and cleanliness discipline. You know, as I've said before in one of my previous episodes, cleanliness is next to godliness and if you don't stay clean, you will get to meet him. So what do we do? You need to wash your hands and your face before every meal with soap. Wash your hands every time you lose, use little latrine and even if it's only number one, wash your hands every time. For the latrine. You need to designate the latrine area downhill and away from the house. And for those of you listening on the podcast or whatnot, if you don't know what a latrine is, it's a very deep hole. Well, it's a deep hole in the ground where you use the bathroom. So you want to dig it deep enough that you can go to the bathroom and put dirt in there and it's not going to bother anything. So that's a latrine. When I say latrina meant the bathroom, the out house kind of thing. You need to have a discipline about how you use that and how you keep it and maintenance it. Yes, you have to maintenance a latrine. You know. Also, if you have toilets that still flush, or excuse me, your toilets will still flush, I hope you'll know that. You don't have to have power to flush your toilets. If you've got the tank in the back, you can take a gallon zone. You can take a gallon of water and pour it in the back of the toilet and it will flush. So if you've got a source of water, a decent source of water, and a septic tank, well, then congratulations, you have a flush toilet that will function just the same as it does normally. Now. The only difference is you have to lug the water in there to it. If you have one of these fancy dancy electric ones that warms the seat and sprays afterwards and warms the water and has no tank on the back, well then not so much. But if you've got the old school poor person toilet like I do, then I'm still gonna be able to flush my toilet, and I live uphill from the rest of my neighbors, and I have a backflow preventer on my sewage system, so I'm gonna be sitting pretty more ways than one. All right. Next is you want to wear shoes when you are outside. There are a lot of people, included one that's listening on the chat room tonight, that loves to go outside and go barefooted. And that is all well and good when the grass is cut and everything is nice and it's a warm summer day and you're walk side barefooted and everything's great, but you need to protect your feet because you can get hookworms by walking barefoot. And the reason the way that works is the soil has to contain human feces. And we're gonna get a little bit gross right here, but again this is a reality check. You need to hear this. So if soil contains human feces, you can get hookworms while walking on it barefooted. Oh my god, that's gross. Yeah, it is gross, But think about it. During a grid down, people are gonna go wherever they feel like it. They're not going to go in the designated area. They're just walking along. Oh, I gotta go find a tree. Well let's say then there is a good rainstorm and the rain washes everything that one person did, and it washes it through your yard. You know, they did whatever they were gonna do uphill and it washes downhill. Well guess what, Now your yard is contaminated and has contaminate it's in it. So that's why I say wear your shoes. You know, in the grid down there's gonna be multiple diseases that are gonna get you, and cholera and yarda are just two of them to start with. So anyway, oh, since we're talking, this would be for my medical people out there. If you've got to bite a food in your mouth, you might want to go ahead and swallow it. So for all of you you uh number files and food and uh math nerds. Check this out. One gram, one small little gram of human feces can contain ten million viruses, one million bacteria, one thousand parasite it cysts, and over one hundred parasite eggs. So what's the moral of the story. You wear your shoes and you wash your hands. There's a reason why Mama said wash your hands after you use the bathroom, wash your hands after you get doing you know, get doing XYS, because you really don't want to be scratching the bottom of your foot or scratching something and then picking your nose or touching one of your mucous membranes because guess what, then you got infected. And as my previous show said, if you get injured, you're probably dead. So anyway, all right, Next up is appearance discipline. How do you look? How do you appear? You don't want to make your home or yourself look inviting or vulnerable. You want to make it look like you are not worth somebody's time. You want to look poor, You want to look malnourished. You do not want to look well fed. You do not want to look well dressed, and you do not want to do anything that attracts attention. So in normal times, if you're wearing Prada or you're wearing Gucci, you might get mugged. But in the grid down slaric scenario, you're probably gonna get killed, mainly because people are going to go, I want whatever. You know, they've got a lot of money, They've they've got a lot of whatever. I want what they got, So in a grid down situation. And again we're talking three months. Maybe at this point you need to look malnourished. I don't care if you have to take makeup and darken your eyes and do whatever you can with your face with makeup. You need to look malnourished. You need to look impoverished. You need to look like everyone else. You know. Think about the gray man concept here. Your clothes, your behavior, your general appearance. They all need to blend in. Fat and happy is gonna be bad mojo. That's something else to think of. Let's see here, opsec. I've said this before, and you need to keep everything you have and say private. And this one is a real biggie. And if you need a refresher on this, I actually did an I did two shows. I did a show on ob Sect and a show on Comsack. And if you need a refresher on how to do good ob sec, I suggest you go back and listen to those two shows. But the first rule of prep club is we don't talk about prep club kids teens and Facebook is going to betray you. They will betray you. So if you're talking about your preps, everybody else is going to know about it. Eventually, either someone's going to slip up or one of your kids is going to mouth often say something or whatnot. So keep everything that you have and say private. You know, just do what you gotta do. Reading in the chat room, somebody asked the question is should we have soap or hand sanitizer. One of our residents in here ek says soap is the best option hand sanitizer and a pinch, So that's always true. You know, use use soap when you can warm water, and soap is the best thing. And you know, there's like I think you sing Happy Birthday or sing Drink a Little Star. There's some song that you can sing that you count to fifteen and rub your head and turn around three twice, and that's actually the best thing to do to make sure the your hands are clean. The hand sanitizer in a pitch. Also, what's really fun is you can actually take hand sanitizer and if you have a flint and steel, you know, your striker stick hand sanitizer will catch fire with a striker stick because it's alcohol. So you know, you get a bunch of pine needles or stuff together, you're you're tender, and you squirt hand sanitizer on it and then hit your flint and steal at it and guess what you get a flame? Learn that in Boy Scouts Number four, we're gonna get back on track here. Yeah, warm water not likely to be really available. Yeah, I'm just repeating what my mother drilled into me for many, many, many many years. So number four, make a habit to ensure your doors and windows are locked at all times. I don't care where you live, I don't care the neighborhood that you live in. You may leave your doors and windows unlocked and nobody cares. But right now today you need to make a point to start keeping everything locked as quickly as you can. You need to get the ability to barricade your doors and your windows. So that's something you need to just start getting in the process of doing. Is locking your doors, locking your windows. A lot of crimes that happen happening homes Miller comes their doors and windows are unlocked. So I'm gonna jump into this. Let's get to take a break again real quick. I gotta get something because I'm starting to get parched. So we're gonna take a break real quick. I'm gonna let me get me something to drink. We're gonna jump back into this and I'm gonna teach you how to break into somebody's house. Go ahead and take it, g man. Hi. See it in action and get yours now at survival stoveworks dot com. That's Survivalstoveworks dot com. Oh, welcome back, everybody. Yeah. One thing on that survival stove. I actually bought me one of those, and it's pretty sweet. And one of the things that I tried just to see if it would work is I took like multiple sections of chimney of the I guess the pipe that you use for the chimney and I ran it up. I don't know, like twenty thirty feet now, not thirty feet, like fifteen twenty feet in the year. It was really high. It's like really high and leaning to one side, so I know it was pretty high. But at that high, the wind was blowing a little bit different on my property and the smoke was dispersing a lot faster. So again, it's just something to think of. If you've got a wood stove that's outside. Now, if your wood stove's inside and you've got a chimney, not much you can do about it. But if you are on the run, or if you're bugging out and your mobile, you know you're making what's the word I'm looking for, I guess plumb or pipe your smoke a lot higher than where you're actually at and it'll disperse difference. Anyway. That's just a oh yeah, loongan squirrel. That's kind of way that my mind works. Soon back to where we were, a lot of crimes. As I was saying, a lot of crimes happen in homes merely because the doors are unlocked. People think they're in a safe neighborhood. We've never had anything happen. Criminal goes up unlocks, you know, just turns the knob and hey, look it's open. So you want to start locking your windows and doors. If nothing else, use the locks on your doors and windows because it will impede the amount of time a criminal has in getting in. So they are, you know, trying to get in and they can't, and that gives you enough time to respond in whatever manner you deem necessary. So you've got the the windows and doors locked, criminals trying to get in, they're rattling it. That's giving you a you know, giving you enough time to kind of to respond to whatever you want to. You know, wink wink, nudge, nudge, say no more so question in the chat room keeping the smoke? What about in the winter time when you need heats as it's your woodstove. Well, that's what I was saying earlier is that you know, if you've got a wood stove in your home and you've got a chimney, if it's a regular wood stove, the smoke is a sign of poor combustion. So this goes back to like the Dakota hole and the rock stove. There are people that I've seen that use a rocket stove design in their house and because of the greater combustion, there's no smoke or there's a lot lot less smoke. So what you want to do is you want to research Now this question is for MiB Underscore three D nine JDB. So appreciate you joining us tonight. Awesome. I'm glad you're anonymous. You know that's good for free speech and whatever else. So good job on that. Don't feel bad that you know you just chose one of the random things you rock. But the question that you they're asking and what you need to research is combustion. How to increase the combustion. So that can either be if you've got a wood stove, you either increase the oxygen that's going into it so that it burns hotter. You can look at getting like a Jefferson. I think it's a Jefferson stove that recirculates the smoke and reburns all of the contaminants that are in this smoke so that it produces less. But the name of the game is a greater, greater way of combustion. So what you want to look at is you want to look at woodstoves or heat generating things that I have a higher combustion rating and that don't output as much smoke. So my my suggestion is look at getting a rocket stove design, or get a wood stove that is built on a rocket stove design, so that there's there's more fire, there's more heat, and there's less smoke and creos soap being put off on it. So hope that answers your question. Don't rock. I couldn't even let me get a creative name. You'd be You'd be surprised. Dude, you each and every one of y'all in the chat room. Y'all are awesome. So don't don't doubt yourself. You do rock. You are awesome, You are special. You are special to me, all right. That being said, dead bolts, dead bolts are not the strongest amount of protection and for your home, if you own a dead bolt and the lock is less than one inch long, you need to replace it because that is a low quality lock and it's not going to withstand much for it. So here's what you do. And hopefully some of y'all have heard this, and so I'm just going to kind of repeat it. But the screws that hold in the dead bolt plate to the strike plate and the screws that hold in the hinges. Those screws are probably only about a half inch or an inch long, and they're only screwed just far enough into the doorframe pull the door up. What you need to do, number one is you need to replace those screws with something longer, like three inches, so that the hinges on the door screw into the doorframe and then into the two by four stud that outlines the doorframe. Same thing on the dead bolt. You need to replace the dead bolt with one that's got the shank on the dead bolt that's at least you know, inch and a half two inches long, so that it goes farther into the strip plate. The strike plate itself needs to have you know, the three inch screws or like lag bolts or something, because you want the ideas to have not just the screw on the doorframe, but the screw going through the doorframe into the two by four stud on each side. Deck screws, yeah, ek says deck screws. Uh, Sierra brand air type stove increased combustion, okay, cool. So Flying Dutchman in the chat room I think answered the question, or at least gave us something we can research. It's the Sierra brand air tight stove. And what it does is it has a vent on the bottom of it so that you can increase combustion. Again, you want to put more oxygen in there, he says, got one, very got one, very little smoke, new stove, new EPA regulations. Man, I hadn't even thought about that. Yeah, look for one with EPA regulation stuff on it. I guess that's kind of like Energy Star for off grid. Yeah, all right, I'm gonna get in trouble, all right, number number or five, and we're coming to the home stretch. Preemptively work on your defensive structures. What I mean by that is put in higher sharper fencing, put in extra plywood and concrete backer boards on certain walls to make a barrier. You know, I know, y'all, if you were here last year or last year, if you were here last week and you heard this, or maybe it was one of my other shows, I talked about putting concrete backer board in between the studs in order to make a ballistics barrier. So here's a homework assignment. I want you all to go to your local big box store and I want you to get a sheet of concrete backer board, and this is like what they use to attach ceramic tile to. So if you've ever laid tile, or if you've ever laid ceramic floor tiles or seramic bathroom tiles, the backer board is basically concrete impregnated fiberglass. I guess. Secure it to a section a plywood, take it out back and shoot it. See if it stops a bullet. Let me know how it works. I'm curious. I've seen the YouTube videos, but I'm just curious. It may not stop five, five, six or three oh eight, but it probably will stop nine up to forty five. But again, I'm curious. If you got you know, if you've got nothing to do and you just want an experiment, go buy you a concrete backer board and then fire some rounds at it and see if it stops it. Because you can take that and put it between studs. So what I was talking about a couple of weeks ago or last week, my memory is so fading. Go into your house, find a wall that's not a support wall that you know would make a good shelter, a good defensive position, and cut the ploid out of it. Take a you know, take a knife or whatever and cut out a section of the plywood in or a section of the drywall. Excuse me, cut out the drywall in between the two studs. You can put backer board in plywood in order to create a ballistics you know, stop point, something that will stop around. Put the drywall back in place, mud over it, repaint it, whatever. And if you know, if something goes wrong, you have a defensive position that you can flee to. You know, if your house is breached or if there's a drive by and you've got to get somewhere where rounds won't penetrate. That's something to think about. And again, this is something to work on preemptively. This is not something to go Okay, it's just hit the fan. Now, let's start Now you want to start thinking about this now, that's why I'm talking about it. For those of you that have got a lot more money than I do, there is actually a company out there called armor Core. Like the word armor and the word core all one word armor core dot com. And they actually build these kind of panels that when you are fabricating a house, you can build these panels into the wall. So for any of you that are doing new construction and you've got, you know, a little bit more money than I do. Take a look at Armor Core again, they're not a sponsor. I don't represent them. They just sold a really cool product that I would love to have if I ever won the lottery. That's what I'm gonna get. All right, We're gonna start on this one. I may not get finished with it because I've only got a few minutes left. In fact, you know what, I've only got a few minutes left, So I'm not even gonna start that. So next week, what I'm gonna do in the meantime is I'm gonna ask the chat room what questions y'all have. So if you in the chat be thinking about the questions that you've got, be thinking about what you want to do. Next week, we are gonna give the bad guys the d the defense and layers. I know what some of you were thinking. So in the security world, we call this defense and depth, and the idea is to start at the outskirts of your property or the area that you're at and put plate put things in place that make yourself less appealing or at least not worth an enemy's time. You work in centric layers to slow down or stop and attack it coming in. And next week we're gonna go through the but there's gonna be deter detect, delay, and defend. And like I said, I don't want to get into it because I've only got a few minutes left and I'll start getting off on the rabbit hole and all of a sudden, I'll hear the music and I'm thinking, oh crap, I'm at the oscars. So anyway, we're gonna save that for next week. So defense and layers, deter, detect, delay, and defend, and I'm gonna get into some really devious stuff. It's a really gray area, and it's gonna be things like you know, pungee sticks and nail beds, and we're gonna we're gonna figure out how to do bostilism bombs with infected rats. I'm just kidding. We're not gonna do that. It's gonna be like modern art. Here's an example, sharpjack, sharp jagged polished metal. If you place that strategically in your yard and you keep it up, it's called modern art. But if you let it rust, it's a sharp, rusted object called an obstacle. Those things like that all right, let's see our first deterren is how our heel is? How steep our heel is? Oh so okay, So one of the one of the guys in the in the chat room says that basically, I'm guessing he lives up on a hill and I don't have my music playing yet. Okay, two minutes so one of the one of the guys in the chat room says that he lives up on a hill and his first atturnt is a very very steep hill, and that's awesome, and those are going to going to be kind of things we're gonna think of. Let's see anybody else got anything in the chat room? Real quick, I said, I just glanced over the clock and I'm like, ah, I can't get into this next subject. I'll be. Uh, okay, well, you know what, We're gonna go ahead and call it tonight. I want you all to join me next weekend because next weekend or next Friday, because we are going to really, really really have a good show. I've got a lot of material to cover next week and it's gonna be some really really dark evil stuff. But anyway, well that's going to conclude part one of our little story. So if you missed any part of it or need a replay, you know, go stream. I hope that I've helped you all for something. I hope that I've spurred some ideas.
