You're listening here to PBN. You were paying back the stability shure. Good morning, PB, and how are you? So it looks like my computer is issues. I'm trying to make sure I have perfect all right, so this doesn't seem to be working anymore. And maybe because I've had those headphones for a long time, I'm trying to figure out why I'm so washed out. Oh well, good morning. It is great to see you in. Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there, all of the single dads, the married dads, to all of them as well as the moms are doing the dad stuff too. I say the same for Mother's Day to the dads who are doing the mom's jobs. So Happy Father's Day, though I know in our household it is a good day for us. We're blessed, and yeah, I don't want to digress on that too much, but it is a good day, and it's a beautiful day. On top of that, and it's Sunday. I'm a day late and a dollar short, but it happens. Saturday was a chaotic day for us. We were on the road all day long. What for that's coming at a later time, but we were literally up at six thirty and then on the road by eight and then so this is Sunday and I'm behind, but so be it. It is great to see all of you. I hope you're having an amazing day to the dads. So I did want to let you know. I had mentioned before that I was harvesting and taking part in gathering in local herbs and plants that can be used as medicine. Well, lo and behold, I was able to harvest one wild lettuce plant. And what happened there is I had two more beautifully stocked in an area that they were just right to that point where they were going to be ready to harvest. And lo and behold, I heard the sound. I look out the door. I opened the door and take off running our five deer who decided they were going to eat that wild lettuce down to a nub. So that was fun. So as of right now, I didn't tensure it. I did just dehydrate it because at the time it was just easier to dehydrate for me with everything that's going on. And then later you can still do a tensure from dried but we have some walled lettuce. I have it marked when I harvested. And then on top of that, it isn't a ziplock bag. Don't come at me. I will be putting in a glass jar. I had to put it somewhere though, because all of my glass jars are above my reach and I didn't feel like climbing a counter to reach them. But this is mullen. It has all been dried. I'm going to powder it, going to crumble it. It is amazing in tease, great for respiratory. I found recently I found some black cohash very close to the house, and so I'm going to be harvest in the black cohash. It's the root system. For those of you who don't know. It's great for women, especially in the changes near the change yet, but it will happen. But it never hurts to get a custom or familiar with local medicines. I have not harvested any of the black raspberry plant itself. I have harvested the berries. I'm absolutely thrilled, and this week we will be doing the blackberries. I finally have enough to make the jellies and syrups. But black raspberry is amazing, great for you, gets you feeling better as a woman again, helps with our menstrual cycles, helps with pregnancy. There are so many things out there that nature is already providing, then why not continue and learn more from what's provided around us. I did have my partner brought home some passion flower. Now mind you, I'm growing some, but to bring home some passion flower that was grown locally in an area that was sprayed was phenomenal for me. So I'm giddy as i'll get out. It did have a fruit on it. I pulled that fruit off to try to transplant. Whether it holds, we'll see. It is a little iffy, but I did pull the fruit off so I can then accumulate the seeds, so I have twice as much seeds for next year. Again, this year, I probably am not going to have a big harvest. I didn't realize that was onlowed. And that's okay. You win some, you lose some. But our big goal this year is to see how many plants I can get two seed so I can have additional seeds for next year. So my lettuce has already bolted, my wassabi has started to bolt, and so in that case, it's like, okay, so I won't have certain things this year but at least I can have twice the seed and then plant them for next year and start at a better time. Now that I've got to feel for it, I do have sixty four tomato plants. Some of them are flourishing to the point that we are definitely going to have some tomatoes. The squash I'm on the fence about. I have eight plants. They seem to be doing well. They're flowering beautifully. But there's the problem with squashes. The male blooms and the female blooms don't always bloom at the same time, so it leaves you in a little bit of a conundrum. That's okay, let's see, I'm trying to think, oh, sweet potatoes a little late. It's okay. What I will do is I have plenty of sprouts that have finally popped up on the potatoes that I've clipped those. I'm going to try to root them. That usually takes a while. So what I plan on is having them rooting in the house, especially through the winter. If I can keep them going, I can then have plants ready for any time of the year. I am working on my whole miniature setup on my greenhouse just so then I can maintain certain plants because house space is limited, and how I can maintain them in the outside environment while still keeping them alive. Tumeric seems to be flourishing. I've gotten a few berries off my strawberries, which we're not looking to accumulate a huge ton. We're just eating them as they go. But it is definitely interesting to see where things are going. Garden Girl, my luva is taking off out of the seed you gave me four to fruit, so fingers crossed, I'd hope I get something out of them. My cucumbers are doing well, so that at least we're getting something. It's not a big harvest like i'd want or hope for, but that just gives me more of an idea of what my goals are for next year. So lettuce bolton means twice as much lettuce seed. I'm going to replant the lettuce again personally, personally, it's amazing. I let it go to bolt, keep the seed and then replant it, so it's going to be I think a good year. I do have ideas I know I've mentioned before on certain crops. I plan on using as cover crop in certain lawn areas, just to make things easier and to maintain, you know, the local pest. So that's that's a big one. And that's okay, that's what we're doing. Let's see. Oh, I do have something I want to show you. James knows about this. I haven't. That lighting is killing me. I haven't really talked about it much because I wanted to get several done first, and so I have been making. This is the very first one I made. It is mine. It's not the prettiest stitching because I was figuring it out. But it has a liner. Yes, it has chicken pattern on the inside. I am working on making coin purses and I'm trying to figure out the closure and attachment for the purses because these perses come in two sizes. That's the fun part. And I walk around with my chicken purse because why not. Okay, I have here, so yo, this is what you're gonna be seeing for me next. And they are aligned that I've got some bright, wild colors in the small ones. Wow, that is there. But the fun part for me is not just the details on it. It's the inside because why not, I mean, come on, cute and fun but yeah, this so this one, I don't know if she's watching. I don't think so. But I made a dear friend in Ohio a little chicken purse that is going straight to her this week. Hopefully. I've got to get the labels printed behind, because I want to get that coin bag done to go with it. Yeah, this is what I'm doing now. I'm using up all of my acrylic yarn. Crylic's great for outdoor use. Don't have to worry about you know what. I'm not worried about acrylic. So it's like one of those things where thank you, garden Girl. I absolutely am enjoying making those bags. They tickle me to death. Let's see, I'm good morning to the two viewers on X. I appreciate you popping on. Good boo Hi. That's been another thing we've been working on is a little man's vocabulary. He's been jumping and grown with all of his big words. You say a lot of words now, yes, yes, you're gonna act shy hlich. Oh yes, please, garden Girl, definitely send me pictures of that. That is actually the next thing on my list. I have some patterns for some summer tank tops and I am looking forward to getting those knocked out right now I am on the chicken train, so I'm trying to knock them out and make as many as I can. I actually have some black and white ones. I have some brightly colored ones that look more realistic. That's why I want to have fun. So I hope to have some of those for a prepper camp as well as just to set them up and sew them. I've been walking around with my purse that I've had people ask me, I want to get your purse? What unluk? Thank you? Oh are you wanting up? Oh? Can you so high? It's time for a haircut. I want you to go get daddy. You won't go get dad? Dad? Yeah, okay, I won't you go? Give dad to hecks. Daddy loves big hugs. Yeah, so I think so too, garden girl. He is he's getting so big. And that child is in size four or five t's and he won't be three until August. So that's keeping me on my toes there. But he is getting very, very big. But that's that's a whole side note. But yes, garden girls, this is I'm making. I can't see if I can get the light to making little coin purses that will attach. But I'm working on because everything well, those I got from a pattern. These I'm making from my own. Will yeah, yeah, yeah, won't you go see daddy? Yeah, yes you, thank you bye. So I kind of got distracted after that. Oh we're gonna jump. Yeah. The chicken purses, I just wanted to show. It is my little happy there that I've enjoyed making. Uh, but the big one is the medicines. Garden girl. I do need to see about trying to get some comfrey from you, though, because that would be amazing to have here. The ducks, you know, the lighting does weird things. Sorry. The ducks are doing great. They're getting big, they're flourishing, they're ready to be shifted. And in four days two days, we'll be going into lockdown for the turkey eggs. So we'll see how those go. Fingers crossed at the Ford that viable hatch, I was given another six fingers crossed that they are. I did a quick peek and one of them did look like they had aline of death. I take that back. Five. One of them cracked, the membrane dried out sometimes that happens. And one of them is showing the lines of death, the circle of death. Or the ring of death of those who known those who don't know what this circle of line of death is or it is when you handle the egg, it will be this ring and what it is. It's just non viable. It's not developing, it's not getting better. It's kind of just ends right there. No, we've got garden grown. You're great. You've got a lot of things going on and you can't help it, so you don't hear me completely. My brain loans just trying to but yeah, no, here's fingers crossed that the four eggs that we have that are about to be on lockdown hatch and something comes from the remaining five. I do have several eggs that I've collected from the chickens that I am ready to put in an incubator as well. I have two incubators, so I thought about putting it in the other one, but I don't know. I'm it's been finicky. This incubator this year has given me more problems than normal. So I may switch to the other incubator and see how it does. I don't know if maybe that's the issue with the humidity on it. Even when it's set the right way, keeps overfluctuating, so there's a chance I could have lost the eggs because of that, and which case we'll switch to the other one. I do have an egg turner for traditional chicken eggs, but if need be and I put bigger eggs in there, I can handturn them. Is it tedious, Yes, but sometimes it's worth it. So we'll see you'd being a big boy. So this year, though, we've ran into a lot of head coaches. People get sho geese, and so that is one of those things where I'm jumping back. Is natural medicine is really something you should look into. Diarrhea. Peppermint typically will help with that some so I can experiment growing given to me by an awesome woman. It came back this year. I'm thrilled it's flourishing. I actually have some rosemary and some time it's struggling a little bit. I'm hoping to propagate some of it and try to get more plants because rosemary is amazing. I actually have a daughter who asked me if I could make her some rosemary oil for her hair and everything else. So that's our big one is trying to meet the needs of my family. Is that you have a fun. Yeah, oh no, so again Mullen amazing. I wish I had kept one of the large leaves just to show. But it's this big, beautiful, luscious plant. It is only produces for two years. The first year it's typically smaller. You can harvest up to the third of that plant without killing it. The second year is when it's going to get even larger. It's going to bolt up. It's going to produce the flower cone or flower staff on it. From what I've been reading, the flowers itself can be used for a good earache medication. The leaves is what you typically use. Uh, oh, you dropped it. That's okay. So with that being said, the this light, I'm trying to get it to oh okay and maybe whitewash ger mom, whoa so. But what you don't want to do is the seeds. The seeds are actually toxic. So that's that is a big one with Mullen, is making sure that you know which parts of the plant are or are not safe. I was meaning to grab some of my books to show you. I have probably my five mean books. I jump to the herbal medicinal book that breaks down the chemical compounds on it. How they benefit the systems, whether it's community booster, anti fungal, antimicrobial, that sort of thing. I should have grabbed my jar of Old Man's beard. I love that. I got to thank some very dear friends for teaching me that spiel. This has been amazing because of old Man's beard is antimicrobial, anti fungal, works great for UTI's and certain infections, and it is and all around. Nature really does provide. And you're going to get a lot of meat parking on this because that's what nature does. Nature will give you medicine. It's a crayon daddy, Yeah, gocier daddy to crayon yeah. Okay. So with nature providing medicine, a lot of people don't realize your pharmaceuticals that you get at the doctor's office or or pharmacy or what's prescribed to you. A lot of these medications were originally derived from plants. I've said it before and I'll say it again when we had those huge hurricanes that hit the islands and there was a shortage on a lot of cardiac medication because one of the main properties for certain cardiac medications are actually a plant that was grown on those islands. So people don't realize aspirin. Originally it came from willow. As garden Girl says in the chat, it's so amazing, amazing how much stuff we can get from nature. Absolutely, you just have to take the time to learn it, and that is a big one. So I had a horror move moment the other day that I thought kind of traumatized me. Friday, I don't have paper. You'll have to ask daddy for paper. Yeah, go ask daddy for paper. Sorry. Today is a multi show where you get me talking to a two year old while talking to you. Welcome to my life. This is about a normal conversation with anyone. So garden Girl, what was I just saying, I have an idea about my brain? Stops my Oh I traumatic story. There we go. Yeah, thank you the honest shoulder surgery and yeah, comforty sad is amazing. But from my understanding, it's not something you want internally. It needs to be on closed wounds. I've seen people put it on a lot of bruise and then it helped. But tell me if I'm wrong. I'm still learning more on comfory. So I had a moment where in our region we have Asian needle ants. Now, mind you, people don't realize they are literally everywhere at this point, all the way through Arkansas as far north, just about as it seems. And these ants are ferocious and painful as well. It's there. So I made a mistake. I'm comfortable. I wear a lot of dresses when I can, just because the comfort, the heat. Any of you ladies from the South, you get it, and people who understand you just want to be comfortable. Well, I decided that I was going to go ahead and take the scraps down to the chickens. Didn't change, not a big deal. We had had a heavy rain and all night the night before until about six am. And oh, thank you, ask Daddy, I can't get that out of that. Daddy can ask Daddy? Hey, Daddy, have him bring that to you, Have him bring this to you to help. All right, So again I told you, never stops in our house. All right, let's do this. There we go. I decided to go out tap toss the scraps to the chickens, and all of a sudden I feel this absolute steering pain. And somehow a aunt got into the bodice of my dress and stung me in a very sensitive area on my boop, and I knew instantly. I was like, oh no, audibly out loud. Oh no. I'm like, something just stung me. And I look at my bodice and there's a freaking big Asian utland. Normally they're they're pretty eighty bitty, but this one was a decent size, and I grabbed it and threw it out of my top really quick, and I'm like, okay, I'm fine, I'm fine. And because I had every intentions to pick in more blackberries, and I went to walk towards pick up my basket and walk towards the blackberries, and it hits me that I'm going to black out now, mind you, I didn't, but it was bad enough. I felt like I was going to blackouts. And I'm like, I cannot pass out in the yard while a little man's still sleeping. I try to get everything done early in the morning while he's sleeping, and then get up because I'm like, my neighbors are going to find me passed out next to the chickens in my yard. So I get up and I start running up hill as my eyeside's getting Because I don't think people realize, like it's it hurts, but even more so in a sensitive spot. And so I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know what I can do that I see but a big bat patch of plantain which I have harshested some plantain and dehydrated and put up. I grabbed some plantain food in my mouth, started chewing it, and I'm stuffing the bodice of my dress where I got stung, because at this point, what can it hurt. You can use plantain for poison ivy, you can use it for stings, you can use it for bites. So I didn't know what else to do. And if you're not laughing at my ridiculousness, something's wrong. I make it in the house and I put this all in aliment and now minstone. I was stuff in my top of my dress more than a high school teenager. Okay, I was just trying to put plantain in there. You know, you have to chew it up and break it up a little bit, and I'm sticking it in there. I get in the house and I'm panting because what people don't realize is these stings come in waves wolfs, kind of like a was sting, but a little bit more intense. And here's the thing about these stinks. I already know I'm in for a day of hell. And what I mean by it is these stings come in waves, so a lot like childbirth, you have contractions, it ease up, goes away, comes back, super intense. That is what these stings are. And Garden Girls said, she can laugh, she can feel my pain. So I'm laying down. I run straight into the house, lay myself down on the bed and call Christopher and like, I'm probably going to pass out, and I go really silent for a moment because I'm hitting a high point of this pain because it hurts like hell initially and then it's going to ease up and come back. And which case it did. It finally eased up. I didn't pass out, but I laid still because I was like, I was certain I was going to pass out, and I have a high pain tolerance, so if that tells you something, it's hurt. I lay there and then throughout the day this pain comes and goes, comes and goes, and it's like that for a good eight to twelve hours. So the next day, yeah, it's I'm better now, but you could see the sting mark. Where they were at sting you you could see the puncturemark, and oh it was. It was so I think this thing didn't last as long as I've had them last on my legs. So maybe the plantain helped. Either way, I didn't see it potentially hurting it worse than what it already did. Oh no, I don't know. Do you want me to read that or no? This is yeah, yeah, I know that feeling. It was one of those things I said in a group, I'd rather have a kidney stone or natural childbirth again, or you know what for those who are breastfeeding mothers. The intense bite of a child with teeth. I've had that happen where it's cut me was not near as bad. So garden girl did say she once got bit in the boot by a behavior student, not a bug, but a butt head kid. It hurts, It hurts, and so my partner's like, well, maybe you should make sure you're wearing full clothes when you go out instead of my dress, like it's summer, no woman wants Okay, it's just part of it. So it's yeah, there was my story. So now T shirt, bro pants, boots, what I am going to do to counter this because for whatever reason, I noticed when I through the ant that there were tons of them across the ground. Now we have a carpenter ant issue here. It is what it is with where we live. The biggest thing that we I am going to be doing is dietimation earth everything. I have a big bag of dietamacious earth. I'm gonna have to get another big bag of dietamacious earth. And that's just how it's going to be. I'm going to earth around the coop, which is good for them anyways because it keeps mites down. They can death ass I do like crazy ones house because we can pots. Because here's the thing about Asian needle ants. They do not perform make normal colonies. They sorry garden girls. So the reason why we don't want to as women, as she says, why we like her skirts and our dresses, so we don't want somes. I love you. I needed that, thank you. Yes that was a nicer way. Nobody wants sweaty boobs all the time, even as little busted girls. It's uncomfortable, but I digress. So the ants, though, are everywhere. They don't nest like normal ants. They will cover the forest floor. They will make their nest end down or dead leaves on the floor. They easily make their little homes under your pots, like your plants on logs, just in brush period. They don't perform or make normal ant hills like most colonies. Where they nest in ground, it is an array of You could pick something up and it's covered under it. So I had to move a lot of my pots and stuff away from the house because of the fact that the ants are trying to nest. So I'm constantly putting down type So it is a constant battle with nature. Actually, garden girl, I believe you do have them in Texas. Let me see if I can split my screen. I know that they have gotten bad enough that they are everywhere essentially, and so see I say that, but my computer is moving as slow as you know what. I have a phone, I like my Let me look up Asian needle aunt map for the US. Okay, so actually, yes, it looks like as of right now, they're in Oregon. No, sorry, yeah, Oregon, Texas, Hawaii, Arkansas, Mississippi. They are in Michigan. Let's see New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Atlanta, and Garry said North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. It says there's not any in Louisiana. Louisiana is pretty tough. I'm sure they probably have made it there, but they are there. We go quite a few places, so we'll see how that works. Let's say they are invasive, bredon, but yeah, they it does stay on here. There was a news where they put a warning Asian needle ants can deliver a painful sting. For most people, this sing will not be harmful, just painful. Some people have what they call a hyper reaction to it, so it has actually triggered anaphylaxis and certain people people with hyper allergic to stings from insects like bees and wasps, should be prepared and have an EpiPen. So that is one of those things where with my partner, he developed a allergy to yellow jackets and bees. Now, so it's one of those things where we're a little more cautious. I think maybe the plantain may have helped a little bit. I don't know, may not have may have helped my pride in my feelings because at the something it could help. Of course, I called him, told him I was dying. He laughed, which, you know, hindsight funny for after the fact, was not funny at the time, right, So garden gir, That's one of those things I keep in mind on. Definitely look him up. Asian needle ants have a Okay, I know I'm going to say this wrong, so everybody knows the tiny black ants. We grew up calling them piss ants because they're small enough just to piss you off. They don't really do anything well. Asian needle ants are can be around that size. They're a little bit bigger, but they are much narrower and you can actually see the point on the end of their dorex. I don't remember my bug anatomy, so don't hold it against me. Let's see, I'm trying to pull up a picture one but the Sharon screens. I don't know how James does it. I always struggle with that. I'm not as tech savvy. Oof. Sorry, friends are sick, so that's another thing. On top of While I was doing this, I got a message. I have friends who get sick, and what do they do? They text me and call me hey, what can I take? And I pride in being that mom who always was able to manage my sickly kids and being telling, hey, this will help with this. If you're having diarrhea or vomited, try this. You know. It's one of those things where I am not a doctor, but I've used enough natural stuff as well as had to take care of my kids when they get sick that I'm happy to be able to at least offer if someone ask me, all right, let's see Asian. They look like black ants, and I can tell you right now. Oh, here's a good picture. So this is how you know what they are. They have uneven thor axis. Let's see if we can get that it is uneven. They do have a narrower body, and there's this stinger on the tail. You can definitely see it when you pick them up. Hold on, let's do this. This one should that they have a node, but you'll always see the stinger because some of these don't have nodes. But it is something to try to make yourself aware at. If you're getting stung, the last thing you want to do is sit there and try staring at it to figure out what's stinging you. Let me just pull up an actual over here we go. I say, they look just like this. They do. They are narrowed. Now, from just a brief look, they look like a normal ant, but once you really look at them, you can tell because of how long they're thorax is it is uneven. But the main thing is is that stinger is very noticeable because it comes to a fine point versus your normal ant. Let's see if I can do. Because you do have your fire ants, you do have. It says here that they are shy and solitary forgers. I can tell you right now they're not shy, especially if they accidentally get caught in your top. I don't know how that even happened. Honestly. I think what it is is in our run, we have Neddin, and I have wooden doors, double doors. One opens in, one opens out so I can maintain what I'm and or bringing out. And I think maybe it was on the top of the door, because they were everywhere, and when I opened it, when I shifted it, there was neddin, and then Neddin got hung and shook it and it could have landed on me during that time. Because there is tree cover, there is brush. I live in the middle of the woods. I mean, truthfully, other than this beautiful garden. Nope, I'm trying to do it where you can see the background. It's all trees like this background behind me. We live in dense woods and that's all it is is trees everywhere, and it's beautiful and I love it. But with some difficulties. We do have fire ants. I did the grit method on the fire ants, and I don't have any more fire ants. And for those of you who don't know about the grits, sprinkle some grits on there, del eat it. They'll take it back to the colony. The moisture in their stomach will actually cause it to end it and it explodes, so it does kill them. So that's something we do. I do put out grits, I do diet maishasers, and then on the real difficult ones, I do have a spray that is safe to use around my family and my animals, and I will use that directly on the house, not as large rates, more, you know, a direct treatment to keep them from coming into the house so it doesn't hurt the other insects or our neighbors bees. Because we're not spraying everything I just use it as a barrier, especially in the house, so if they make it past the outside barriers, they don't come in past that point, and if they do, they're gonna die. So that's a big one. Yeah, it says it's in twenty two states and people describe it as liquid fire. I can tell you it sucks. It absolutely sucks. And these ants are horrendous and yeah, but do your research, see where they're at. Keep an eye out, garden girl, especially with being in Texas, if you have a lot of pottet plants, just check around them, pick them up, you know, treat diet tamacious earth or something underneath them. That's going to be a big one. But unfortunately, these ants are very difficult to get completely exterminate. Unfortunately, we live in an area I can't just poison everything without potentially hurting everything else around us. And we live in the middle of the woods, so they're gonna keep coming back. So that is a big one. Is just trying to make sure that we have ways of treatment, so be aware of your surroundings. Oh yeah, dietamacious earth is amazing. I treat any fabrics that are going to be outside with promethne and let those dry, so keep that. That's also awesome to have. So it's one of those things where Ditamacious Earth are safe around the animals, safe around the chickens especially. I am still going to put a mask on because it's not something we want to be inhalin. So after this, I actually have to go feed the chickens. I made sure I'm dressed properly and I will switch to address after the fact, but I'm going to while I'm down there diactamacious service, and because it's going to go back, mask is going to go on. I'll probably cover my hair rinse off once I get home because that's not stuff I want. You don't want to inhal It's actually not safe in that aspect. It is food grade. So she do what you have to.
