[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We are your lizard overlords.
[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Stop listening to these preppers.
[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Eat your crickets.
[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Fight in the streets.
[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Own nothing and love it.
[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Belts, Pants, and Boots, PBN Family.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: What is up on a Saturday? No, I'm sorry. It's Sunday. Sunday afternoon.
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's been one of those weekends. You know those kind of weekends that evaporate in your hands?
[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, wow, there was a weekend and now it's just Sunday night.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we were dealing with. Let me crack the grill here.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So we had our annual Test Your Might paintball birthday party for my son.
[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Which, you know, is so much fun.
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Really, I mean if you got a little boy, don't be afraid of the paintballs.
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a blast. We started doing it when he was about 10 I think.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And now it's like tradition.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he just, he loves it. His friends love it.
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: His friends' parents come and they don't necessarily play but they love that their kids are doing it.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, their little boys are doing it. Doing something like that this day and age.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And now we do have a different group of parents than a lot of people.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Particularly those in public schools and cities and stuff like that.
[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: But here's what it is.
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I always look at it as a great opportunity to see sort of where on that.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: In a number of realms. You know, not the least of which tactically speaking.
[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is important, right? I mean if you're not measuring it then you have no idea.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't matter who you were or what you've done in the past. It matters what you are.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong, there's tools and things like that that you can carry over but...
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The cool thing about that is it's like, you know, it's that little force on force sort of situation.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of lessons. A lot of things I could go on and on about from the day.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Aside from the fact that it was a lot of fun.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: What it did remind me of though, and what was very clear to me...
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not like a super fancy dresser.
[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And the fancy nice stuff that I do wear is all from thrift shops.
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: No lie. Like, I don't spend money on clothes.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: When I was little... Well, when I was in my late teens...
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I was really into spending money on clothes.
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I did a lot of spending a lot of money on clothes.
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I was a little bit more into clothes when I was trying to impress people.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Not anymore. I mean, I couldn't care less now.
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I buy things because I like the way they look.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't even fathom worrying about a brand name.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And there is three exceptions to that rule.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And there are three exceptions to that rule that I think are important for you to know.
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's pants, boots and belts.
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So while I don't wear boots every day...
[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a pair of Wolverine boots that are exceptional.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And they're about two or three years old. Something like that.
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I've got another pair of boots. I don't know what brand they are actually.
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they're 511s actually. Yeah, they're 511s.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: They're a little beat up.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: If it's going to be a knock down, drag out, destruction kind of digging massive muddy holes or something like that kind of day...
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Then I'll break them out.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise we're doing the Wolverines for the hikes and for the fishing and for the hunting and for all that kind of fun stuff that needs to happen.
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And as I said, this is one of those situations where it's like...
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: If I'm going to spend the money on articles, boots are a big deal.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll drop some cash on some good boots.
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have tactical pants for seven days of the week.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I got tactical pants for when I need tactical pants.
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Today I ran those LA Police Gear cargo pants.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And these are my most affordable tactical pants.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I was a little bit concerned because they're a little starchy.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: They're a little tighter than the 511s that I have.
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I have over the years basically moved to the 511 tactical pants as my go-to.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're fundamentally my go-to.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I got a pair of...
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't need to bore you with all the different ones that I have.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: But suffice it to say, what I've come to realize is the stretch fabric of the 511 pant is superior.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The pocket layouts, I really like the 511 pants.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_00]: AR magazine pockets in the back pocket.
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: They're just good.
[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you guys make decisions like this, but I've reached a point in my life where if it does what I want it to do, it's good.
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the number one thing.
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I have these shorts.
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: These shorts I got from Sam's Club.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And they were like ten bucks.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And they have this little left...
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: They've got a cargo pocket on the left.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Then they got this little mini cargo pocket underneath them.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And it is absolutely the perfect pocket for the handgun reload.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Perfect! On the left side too.
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just perfect.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But I spend money on 511 pants, I do.
[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That's one of the rare articles of clothing I spend money on.
[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And then belts.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Belts also.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The belt is a big deal to me.
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_00]: You know today I almost ran out the house without the belt because these LA police gear pants are a little tight.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I said, you know what man?
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The last thing that you want to be worried about, especially if you're pinned down today, which could happen, is your pants are coming down.
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Or whatever.
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And I threw that belt...
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I wear those seat belt style belts, those tactical style belts.
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: They hold my gun perfect.
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: They hold my pants perfect.
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what? They do it all.
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: They do everything I need them to do.
[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And it wouldn't pain me to spend almost anything on a belt.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I probably wouldn't spend like a hundred bucks on a belt.
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Only because...
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's why.
[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure there are some belts that are epic.
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Ninety-eight dollars, whatever.
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: The material that I wear, which is like the seat belt material.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It's so strong and so durable.
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And does what it's supposed to do so well.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: That whether I get one of those belts for thirty bucks or a hundred and thirty bucks, it's like, what am I getting here?
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: But I will spend the money to get that material and to get those metal buckles.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I like the metal buckle that clips sort of like the male into the female clip right up front.
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_00]: When there's business to be done, the business gets done by boots, belts and pants.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It really does.
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Boots, belts and pants gets it done.
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever goes on top is almost irrelevant.
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever t-shirt, tank top, long sleeve, hoodie, whatever you throw on over top.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And what's funny is that's the thing that has the cool designs on it.
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean? That's the one that has all the cool designs.
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But that is hardly the, that's hardly what matters to me when I get work done.
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, when there's things to be done.
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: If I'm running the mountain with Dave Jones getting pigs or slaughtering or picking up meat or whatever we do.
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Azure Highland and whatever it is.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm in that stuff. Those are like my first parts of my EDC.
[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Boots, and I guess it's more uniform than anything else, right?
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the boots, the belts and the pants, man.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So, the other reason, this came into play because I was doing the paintball situation today and having a blast.
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And it also came into mind because yesterday my little son and I were thrift shopping.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: We're shopping at the thrift store.
[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And this time of year I go to the thrift store and I start buying button downs.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean? Like, what are they called?
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean they're button down long sleeve shirts. Not dress shirts but the comfy kind.
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I'm looking for Christmas colors, I'm looking for fall colors, that kind of stuff.
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And that is where I do the majority of my shopping.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly.
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_00]: There are enough people, there are so many people, here's the secret.
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_00]: There are so many people out there buying super nice clothes that they don't even want.
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Super nice brands, high end stuff that they don't even want.
[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And then they just give it away to Goodwill because they get tired of it.
[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I show up and get it for $5.99.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I do it all the time. I do it all the time. I get button down pants, all kinds of nice stuff.
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_00]: There was a hoodie, my son found a hoodie with little baby Goku on it.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we paid $5.99 for it.
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It was probably about a $50-$60 hoodie somebody bought, liked for a minute, didn't like it anymore, gave it away.
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Goodwill is so full.
[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_00]: When you go to these thrift shops, even if it's not like a Goodwill but somewhere around you,
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_00]: what gets even more glaring is when the prices start to go up on stuff.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Like when you're like, this thing costs $40 and here it costs $4.
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the way it is right now.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like you go get a nice button down shirt, it's a lot of money.
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Depending on the brand, it could be close to $100.
[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_00]: You go to Goodwill and you get them for $7.99.
[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know what else is crazy about going to thrift shops?
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that you don't wind up with the same button down shirt everybody else has.
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if you're shopping shirts at Walmart or Target,
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I always feel like they have the same thing in every store.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_00]: They're like the McDonald's of fashion, you know what I mean?
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And you wind up with this shirt that is a highly likelihood.
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I realize this from my kids because my kids would come home and be like,
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_00]: three of the kids in my grade have the same coat.
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: That's because we bought our coat at Target, you know what I mean?
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And so did like 100 other people locally.
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_00]: You go to the thrift shop, you never know what you'll find.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: You'll find some shirt that's 20 years old.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_00]: One of them flannel button downs that's like 20 years old, perfect color scheme.
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I got a, it's like a copper and a dark blue and a navy blue checkered beautiful.
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be wonderful when the weather breaks, man.
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: But like I said, thrift shop up top quality gear from the waist down.
[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the way I do it.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy the changing earth podcast folks.
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: We will be back next week in full force.
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean we're always in full force, but Monday starts another week in full force.
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go with that. All right.
[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to thank you all.
[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Listen, I want you to go to faradaycontainers.com.
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_00]: This is a new sponsor, faradaycontainers.com.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: They do something that I don't know if anybody else does,
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_00]: but if you've got comms gear in a big way, if you've got electronics in a big way,
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: they might be able to do exactly what you need.
[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_00]: They create five foot work boxes that are completely EMP proof.
[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And what they also do.
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Now this is not in everybody's budget, but if you're a person listening and it is in your budget,
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: you might been looking for these people or you might know someone who's been looking for these people.
[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_00]: If I were a homesteader and needed a tractor,
[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I would go for their 20 foot connex, their 20 foot shipping container that is completely EMP proof.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean you can pull yard care equipment into one of these shipping containers,
[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_00]: lock it up and everything's EMP proof.
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you're on a homestead and you know how important them tractors can be on a homestead,
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: especially those ones you can change the front of them and do everything,
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: you need a safe place to park that thing man.
[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And one of these shipping containers might just be the answer you've been looking for.
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Alright folks, check them out faradaycontainers.com.
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I do appreciate you and we'll talk soon.
