NPM 11: Backup Antibiotics w. Survival Scripts.com

National Preparedness Month is flying by, folks. It is day 11 here. Hard to believe, but it's day 11, the 11th broadcast of the month. We're going to talk about what he has to offer, and apparently there are some secrets or some new things or some updates, right? How are you doing today, man? I'm doing great man how are you i can't complain it's a little overcast for a change here in richmond it's been just hot you know what i mean but i'll take it i don't mind this summer how about you how are things in texas. Uh good good uh down uh san antonio area right now it's a little muggy but you know okay not bad coming up central time here so a little. Uh A little earlier. I appreciate you, man. I appreciate you waking up a little earlier for us today to talk about survival scripts. So I, I always have, uh, this bad boy close by this thing. I've followed me on vacation this year and the whole nine yards. And, uh, like I said, I've got mine with me, of course. Oh, do you? Oh, there you go, folks. That's proven the pudding. If the man brings his product on a, with him, then you know, that's a big deal. So, um, Yeah, I've seen and had a few iterations of these kits, and the kit that I have is by far the most well-outfitted. I've never seen any of these kits with. What really blew me away about your kit is the skin cream antibiotic and the eye drop antibiotic. You know what I mean? Those two things really surprised me. I opened the kit up, I went through everything, and I was like, whoa. Like, yeah, the eye drop. I have kits, you know what I mean? So you start thinking about skin. infected skin and infected eyeballs. And you're like, Oh yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. And that, that really came from just what I've always personally had on me when I, when I travel, uh, like me Pierce anointment. I mean, it's the best thing for any cuts, scrapes, wounds, um, anything like that. Um, even burn wounds that it'll help. Um, and then the, the Cipro drops disclaimer, we're not allowed to technically say that they do, um, they treat swimmers here as well. Cause there are eye drops, but. It is, it is the same as like medicine. So just get that out there. Um, and then the, uh, the burn cream, the sylvedine cream, um, and then the permethrin for, you know, if you're camping, hiking, uh, staying out in, you know, remote areas, getting life scabies, things like that. What are you going to do? You gotta have the supplies on you and the topicals are part of it. Yeah. Yeah. People don't, uh, don't appreciate the burn situation my kid just took a big spill down the hill on a skateboard two days ago pretty pretty rough and uh i think it's his first experience with some road rash you know what i mean so he's like oh yeah okay there's another level of pain here and that's not infection you know what i mean like we obviously did everything here but you know you get into a situation where it burns like that get infected and that's easy especially in you know, if you're traveling or in an off-grid situation, right? Things get into those sticky, juicy burns easy. And that's, that's a thing. And if you really, you know, historically sort of back up before the advent of modern medicine, antibiotics and whatnot, I mean, the complication rate of any infection was crazy. And Yeah, we take that for granted, right? We really, really do. And a lot of the reasons why we treat some infections are to prevent those complications down. The road, like from strep throat. I mean, just the amount of things like with the scarlet fever and the heart conditions and the joint conditions that can happen from it. It's just totally unnecessary now. And just because you travel and want to spend time away from or sort of disconnected from all the resources, it doesn't mean you don't need access to, you know, help in that regard. So, um, that's really our, our strategy is like, okay, there was a time where no one had any of this. And, you know, now there's a time where we, we have all of this. There's of course the concerns about, uh, antimicrobial resistance, uh, globally, but the gatekeeping that happens at least in this country, um, compared to other countries is, uh, sort of what we're trying to uh work around um because i i think it's a little arbitrary and unnecessary the steps people have to go through just to get a simple medicine. Yeah we have so much protection and so many ways of treating an infection effectively that our fear of antibiotics is like well they call it's like a first world problem right it truly is one of those like the epitome of a first world problem. It's like, we got to rethink these antibiotics that are saving everybody's life. Right. So I want to, and I mean, look, there are things to be concerned about, but you know, there are to have a kid, you're not living out of a kit like this. You're not taking it every time you get a cough and a sneeze. Right. And that's yeah. The majority of the pushback on, on the idea of, in general, because it's, it's somewhat of a newer idea with the advent of direct to consumer healthcare, um, online, um, is, is getting, you know, multiple medicines in a kit, uh, beforehand. Um, really the, the pushback against it sort of assumes that people are just going to start taking the medicines as soon as they, you. Know, open their kit, but, Oh, of course. Yeah. Yeah. What, what we always say is, you know, best case scenario, you don't have to take any of them. And, um, if they're sitting in your pantry, they're not going to be contributing to antibiotic resistance that way. Can, right? Yeah. Probably better off in your pantry because even if you go out of date, you're probably not likely to throw them away as quickly as a pharmacist. You know what I mean? Right, right. And yeah, we can get into expiration dates and that in a minute. But when it comes down to it, like. The origin of, The company really came from my experience with travel medicine and preparing my own patients for when they go on cruises to high altitude, overseas, or on mission trips, especially with regards to malaria, prophylaxis, etc. And all that. So that was sort of baked into my, my private practice, my brick and mortar practice. And then, uh, my other business partner, um, Steven, who, uh, can be on this morning, he, uh, you know, he, he lived in hurricane Katrina and I was, I was a little further North than Louisiana. And so I didn't see the extent of, you know, everything, like every support system you can imagine just dropping off the face of the earth immediately. And, um, And so that kind of spooked him into needing to be prepared ahead of time for any situation. And we sort of merged those two schools of thought into a company that we eventually scaled to nationwide. Beautiful. Yep. It took a while to build the, the end points to, to the quiz. Cause it, you know, spits out the products with the, the buy now links. Um, but it, it can sort of help, you know, we don't have too many products to choose from, but if you're just like, I don't even know where to start. Yeah. It'll, it'll help narrow it down for you, especially if you have, uh, any allergies, any known allergies to antibiotics, it'll sort of take those out. And, um, For the quiz purposes, just because we don't want people with a bunch of allergies automatically purchasing things that have those medicines in them, it's a little more strict on the recommendation side. But if you do get a kit where you have a medicine that you're allergic to, the physician team we have, it'll flag it, and they'll contact you and figure out a substitution for you. Yeah, that's huge, man. That right there. Between that and the dosing information, I don't think people understand that's a part of the deal. A lot of times people look at these kits, particularly in the prepping world, as another thing that goes on the shelf and that's where it ends. But you do get aligned to another resource in terms of telehealth that, I mean, to me it's invaluable because... I get mixed. I feel like people I know who doctor a lot, older people who are, you know, doctoring a lot, they, um, one of the things that I think a lot of people would benefit from is just a second opinion on things, you know, of course, I mean, you know, I'm not, I'm not explaining survival scripts as a sort of open line telehealth operation to everybody who buys a kit, but you know, there is that, there is that relationship there that you can develop, um, by buying a kit, you know what I mean? And, and having access to another brain, you know, in terms of medical. So I don't know if you guys field a lot of calls or not. People take advantage of that? Well, I mean, it's typically like support emails where we'll get questions like that, or the physician team will get questions directly through the portal related to a specific medicine that someone has. Yeah. There's immense value there. Because you're typing your medical questions. Let's be honest. Most people are typing their medical questions if they're not consulting a doctor or if they're consulting a doctor and have concerns, they're typing their medical questions into an AI or a Google search or both or some amalgamation or YouTube. So that's a scary world when you think about it. And the information is in all of those places online. It's a matter of sorting it out, putting it in context, and applying it to an individual situation. That's why we have to go through all the training that we go through. Yeah. For someone like you who's trained, maybe you could make sense of all that. But for someone who's never had any health issues and all of a sudden they've got something they have to contend with, they're probably looking at that like it's hieroglyphics. And that being part of when I travel. this was sort of the line in the sand where we're like, okay, we're going to really start this company is when I had the realization that I have an advantage when I travel, not only for the medicines that I have access to automatically, but you know, the, the knowledge sort of, sort of built into when and why to take those. And so we're trying to bridge that gap between that advantage I have and, you know, anybody's ability to prepare for, whether they're traveling or not. Um, and so we, we really did, um, uh, a lot of work on the instruction guide to make sure that it was as, as thorough as it could be. And when I really. Pitched the idea, um, the, you know, the first thing my business partner said who had, you know, he'd been there Katrina and he was already sort of minded, uh, in the preparedness way. Uh, he was like, Oh, like Jace, I'm like, oh, like who? And so it was sort of. Oh, that's kind of cool, man. That's kind of cool that you didn't know about any company doing this and you guys arrived at a similar solution. Yeah, yeah. And so when we took a look at them and some of the other guys, and there's been a lot of people pop up since two years ago when that happened, what was really lacking to me was it was just like the sniff test of could I... get this, could I explain this to a colleague and not have them just totally dismiss it, you know? Um, like it's overkill or something. Yeah. Like, it's just like, you're just handing out medicine without adequate, um, resources to know, you know. What to do with it. Your colleagues would look at it, how your colleagues would look at it would, would tell a lot, right? Yeah. And so I wanted it to, you know, if I were to look at it from an outside perspective, I wanted it, you know, to pass the sort of legitimacy test. And so that's why we have such a long instruction guide that comes with it. And getting a sort of edited version of that printed right now, as well as a new digital version, which is. One of the new updates that we have, that'll be available and interactive. And so it'll be really cool. That's very cool, man. And, and, uh, it's, it's going to be awesome. Like it's, it's a very clean look. And the, the biggest thing I'm excited about is we're, uh, reintroducing the add on feature.
