TACTICAL TUESDAY: Range Bags, Gear and Gun Mags on TGA

Okay, thank you for joining me tonight. Everybody. This is the gun Metal Armory. Good evening to anyone who is new listening tonight. I appreciate joining me for the first time. Tonight. We are going to discuss range bags. This one has been by request to one of our listeners. We're going to discuss range bags and go over some of the different things that I carry in range bag and the reason why I carry those things in my range bag. Okay, but first I'd like to go over the Prepper Product pick of the Week, which I do every week. All right. The Prepper Product Pick of. The Week this week is the AR five hundred I FACT, which stands for Individual First Aid Kit. Okay. They also call it the EPICK or Emergency Personal Injury Kit. It weighs a little hundred pound and a half. It's completely might compatible. It's about six inch by seven and a half by three and a half inch, comes to a few different colors, multicam, black, I think, tan, I've seen, I've handled, and I've tried a few different I facts. Because of my background and also because I'm on the security team at my church and we tend to carry individual first aid kits with us, and this one, I have to say, is definitely on my short list. I also have one of these on my battle belt. Rig I really really prefer this, I fac if I have to pick one, I do have three other ones, but this one is my. Favorite at the moment. Within this IFAC or epic the AR five hundred one, there are a few items that are absolutely essential, and there are some items that you can get by without. But I really like the amount of items that are in here. Okay, the first thing that's in there would be Sellox the thirty five grain. We talked about that last week. Last week. For the week before, we talked a little bit about Selox and quick clot, and Michael Klein's wife, who's a nurse, chimed in a little bit and talked to us a little bit about the allergic effects of selox and the non allergic effects of quick clot. Okay, which was great. Always good to have more information, right So, anyways, the kit comes with Selox the thirty five gray heme static granule packet. It comes with either a swat tea tourniquit or another tournique, whichever one's available. It includes Fox, Seal, Chess, seals or hyphen whichever ones are available. It has an O lace four inch modular blanket I mean bandage, not blanket, a four inch modular emergency bandage which actually includes a compressed Z fold gauze, which is really really useful if you've got a bad bleed. Okay, anyways. It also comes with H and H primed compressed gods, which is a little bit different than the modular emergency bandage or any of the other types of compressed bandages. That one is four yards by four and a half inches, so you can use that one for not as bad of a bleed, something maybe around the head, or maybe something around the arm, or you can stuff it into a large wound. You don't necessarily have to use it on a small bleed. It also comes with trauma shears, a four inch compressed bandage, waterproof medical tape, which is always good to have, you know, you never you don't obviously don't want the medical tape to fall off if it gets wet, a pair of heavy duty black nitrial medical gloves. Of course, the pouch that it comes in, and it comes with a really cool little micro medical patch, which I personally prefer I love those little patches. I always leave them on the on the pouch though, because you want to be able to tell you know where your medical kid is on your belt. Of course you should have that memorized. But if someone were to happen upon it and need to know which pouch on your belt or on your battle belt or even on your vest is your medical kid, you need to have that cross patch on there to let them know which one it is. Okay, I actually have this kit sent to me by the good people over at la police gear dot com. Those guys are great. They send it over to me. I just want to say thank you to them. Okay, I like this. I like this kid because it's well made. It comes in a variety of colors, the items are good quality, and they're also extremely well thought out options. It's something to consider. Whenever you get a any kind of an I fact, you've got to consider what items are in that I fact. This one, the AR five hundred EPIK or it comes with items. They're actually well thought out, so keep that in mind if you're shopping for an IFAC or an EPIC. Okay, just something to consider, all right, Let's move on to the main topic for tonight. Okay. Oh one other thing about ifax and about first aid and any kind of medical anything. You should always seek professional training, Okay. Do not try to run out there on your own and apply a tourniquit. Okay. There is specific stuff in play that needs to be recognized and monitored when it comes to tourniquits, all right, Just something something to know at all times. Seek professional training. Okay. Anyways, onto the range bags. First, we're going to discuss long range shooting bags. Okay. Now, I'm not going to. I was going to just talk about range bags period. But there's a difference between what you carry in a long range shooting bag and a let's say, short range shooting bag or just a shooting range bag. Okay. If you're shooting long range, you might take, you know, some type of a rifle bag, like you know, the everlay Stock up ranger shooting bag with the r and the ES rifle cases on either side of them. The everlay Stock is one of the nicer shooting shooting bags that are out there right now. It's a really good long range bag. It can carry one or two rifles, or one rifle and one shotgun. It's really you know, personal preferencing, or you can just you know, you just carry the one if you want. It's got a lot of room for other stuff in there too. But I want to list off a few of the things that I would carry, and then I will elaborate on those items. Okay, let's talk. The first thing, obviously, is the long range rifle bag. Okay. The next thing would be shooting sticks, something to shoot off of. Now, you can also carry a tripod. They do make. Tactical tripod attachments, or you can carry just a bipod, or you can have it on your gun. It's personal preference. Okay. You also want to carry either a ballistic computer. Now this is depending on how long range you're going, but having the dope for your shots is definitely a good thing, and to keep track of it. Okay, a ballistic computer or you can get an app for your phone that will help you calculate those ballistics. You know, things like ballistic coefficients and drop and termina ballistics and how hard the round is hitting feet per second, you know, muzzle energy, velocity, all that good stuff. Okay, look in tow apps for whatever phone you happen to have. All right, ballistic computer or ballistic own apps. Okay. The next thing you'd want to carry in there would be a wind meter, something like a kestrel. Okay. I don't know if you guys know what a wind meter is, but if you've ever watched one of those shows like Top Sniper or any of the long range sniper competitions on the Military channel, you'll sometimes see those guys hold up what looks like a long, skinny rectangle with a tiny little fan on top of it. That is a wind meter. They're trying to get a reading on which way the wind is going and. How fast it's going. Okay, that is something that I would carry in my long range bag. The next thing I would carry is obvious you would want to carry anybody ammunition. Okay, you definitely want to carry ammunition, but you want to consider what type of ambunition you're going to carry. Are you going to carry, you know, good quality ammo? Are you going to carry great ammo match grade? Are you going to carry reloads? Are you going to carry some sort of steelcase corrosive stuff? And if you do carry the corrosive stuff, do you know how to clean it up afterwards so your gun doesn't rust? Maybe you do, maybe you don't it, you know, just like they said in the chat room, it depends on what you're shooting. Okay, So if you don't know how to clean a gun after you fire, steel case or corrosive, ammo, I will tell you how to do that in this show. Okay, so stay tuned. The next thing that you should consider having. Now you already have the long range rifle bag that you're using, but you also look at a separate rifle case or a drag bag. Now, some people decide to carry everything in a rifle case, and that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. You need to have enough room for everything. But if you don't, you know, you can always carry the backpack like the everlay stock there, the one I spoke earlier. The next thing you can do. If you do want to carry a rifle case or a drag back, you can also get one that doubles as a shooting mat. Okay, everlay stock, I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly makes one also called the magic carpet. That one is really nice, really well made, something you guys can look into if you want to shoot from a shooting mat. I'll elaborate more on shooting mats and the backpacks and all that stuff in a minute after I get through the things that I would carry in my pack, okay, and the next item I would carry would be a spotting scope. Okay. You always want a spotting scope. Whether you're by yourself or with your you know, with a spotter of any sort or a friend or whoever, you definitely need a spotting scope to get a good look at where your rounds are going after you fire, or if you've got a partner there to keep track of them. They should be able to see where you're around. Okay. You'll want a range finder, depending on any what range you happen to be going at. Now, there are different types of rangefinders for different different ranges. I don't know like them. Think of that word different range finders for different ranges. Some are rated for six hundred yards, some rated for twelve hundred yards, some are rated past two thousand yards. It really just depends on the rangefinder. Okay, you would probably want to carry some kind of cleaning kit. That would always be a good thing. Now as far as cleaning kits go, I know what you're thinking. I'm going to clean my rifle when I get home. But if you get a stuck case inside of your chamber for whatever reason, if your extractor fails to do what it's supposed to do, you're going to want that cleaning kit there with those cleaning rods to be able to pop that stuck case out of there and find out what happened. Okay, So definitely something you should carry with you. The next thing is the item that I just mentioned in the Prepper Product pick of the Week, which is the I fact you should always carry some sort of medical stuff with you when you go out shooting, even if you're by yourself. If you get hurt and there's no one around, guess what, you're the first responder, So you need to have some medical stuff with you all right. Now. There are some people out there that like to carry some food. You can carry a power bar or some sort of granola bar or something like that, but you should definitely have water. Always have water with you, of course. Right. The next item would be ear protection and eye protection. You always want. Earpro and ipro for sure, every single time. You have to protect your hearing and protect your eyes at all times. And don't just think because you have a suppressor on your gun that your ears are protected. If you're firing a fifty cow, you still want hearing protection, Okay, always take it with you, even if you think you don't need it. All right. Now, there's different types of eye pro and I'll get into that later. But you've got the sunglasses that is the eighty seven rated, you've got regular glasses, and you've got sealed goggles. Sometimes you're out shooting in the desert and it's really dusty, so you might want some goggles to actually seal up your eyes so you don't get dust in them. The next item I would carry would be some kind of a loader. Now, granted, you can do it with your fingers, there's nothing wrong with that, but if you choose to load with a loader, I would go something like the Lula loaders. Those things come in a whole bunch of different types and you can use them for rifle mags, pistol mags, a single double stack, so take a look at those if you need something for a loader. The next items I would carry would be some kind of targets, whether it be for plates or stickers or you know, scratching sniff stickers to shoot out. I don't know, it's really up to you whatever you want to shoot at, but it's something good to have. Okay. Two more items. I would carry a small toolkit just in case the screw comes out of your gun. You know, you could consider a small toolkit to be something like the one that's in your truck or your car, or you could consider it to be something like a Leatherman tool, like the Leatherman signal tool or the Amut tool that I carry. Okay. And the final item, excuse me, the final item would be a pin and paper because you may want to keep track of some things. You may see a great place to shoot, and you want to keep track of where you were. You also may want to keep track of how your rifle was shooting if you're not using your phone with the with the computer on it or the blisted computer app. Okay. So these are all things to consider to put into your long range shooting back. And of course a lot of these items actually apply to a normal range bag too. Obviously there's some of them that wouldn't apply. But you know, I think you guys are probably smart enough to figure out what does and doesn't apply to that. All right, let's get into the long range rifle bag or the rifle bag that you would carry your rifle in, and the items in the one that I mentioned a minute ago was the LA Stock Upranger backpack. Okay, the Upranger shooting bag has two possibilities for the sides that you can actually put their rifle cases. They've got the es which can be used for rifles or shotguns, and you've got the ER which can be used for AR fifteen's. They're both good options. You don't have to carry both, but both of those are really good options. Check into those online at everleihtock dot com and also check out their Magic Carpet Shooting that those are really well made, coming a whole bunch of different colors. They know way much. Okay, so coming up soon, we're going to be taking a break here and we will talk more about the long range shooting bags and what is carried in them. Let me look at the chat room for a second here, they're asking what I'm talking about when it comes to the Everla stock bags. It's E B E R L E S. T O c K. It's a it's not a very well known company to some, but it's not an unknown company. Okay, it's you want to look them up online. So let let's say we take a break and we'll be right back in a few minutes. Thank you. Okay, So we were talking about long range shooting bags and range bags, all right. I was informing the the listeners earlier that you could carry something like an Eblas stock up ranger shooting bag that would be able to carry your AR fifteen. Or your rifle or your shotgun. Okay, those are great options for carrying something like the stuff that you're going to need to carry when it comes to a long range shooting setup. Okay, look into that stuff. I put the link into this into the chat room, so if you're in here, you'll know where to go. Okay. The next item I had on the list was shooting sticks. Now, shooting sticks again, are something that isn't one hundred percent necessary, but are really super nice to have because you may not have a bipod or a tripod available to you when you want to shoot your rifle from a more steady platform. Okay, Shooting rifle from a steady platform obviously gives you a higher level of accuracy, but it can also help you range in your rifle too. Or if you're. In Africa doing big game hunting, you may need to have a more steady platform when that rhinoceros is running at you. You may want to have a little bit more steady platform than just your arms and you're shaken and freaking out and you know, having adrenaline dumb okay, uh, you know, shooting rifle from a SETI platform also gives you a realistic view of how accurate the rifle itself is. Okay, because as human beings, we can make a lot of mistakes. If you shoot offhand, you know that that can create a lot of problems, you know, for your gun, and it can create accuracy issues. You can also shoot prone and that's where that magic carpet or the the shooting mac comes in. So you know that it's up to you you want to shoot, But those are some of the options available. And also keep in mind if you can't afford shooting sticks, or if you don't have any available, or maybe you just don't find any you like. Don't forget about nature. Nature provides a whole lot of shooting sticks out in the forest and pretty much everywhere if you look around for them. So don't discount that. You could take a small piece of paracord or even to cut off a little bit of your bootlace and tie three stix together and you've got shooting sticks, or two sticks together and you've got shooting sticks right there. Okay, consider that. Don't forget about nature, all right. As far as the tripod goes, there are you know, there are tactical quote unquote attachments for those available. You'll have to look into that one. I don't have any opinion either way on that they do exist. So look online, type it into one of the web searches you like. Look for a tactical tripod attachment for your rifle. Okay. There are, however, some really good options. As far as a bipod goes, okay, there are two companies that. I really like. The bipods from their bipods are really really nice. Okay. The first company that I really like is called Atlas. Okay. Atlas is one of the more stout bipods. On the market. Look them up. Online. It's it's rather expensive. You're gonna pay anywhere from two to three hundred dollars for one of those. But they're extremely strong, really stout and over built, about as overbuilt as a bipod could be. The only other I mean, Harris makes great bipods too, They're fine, but I'm talking about two of the most high end bipods out there. The other company that makes really nice bipods is called aq Tech Okay ac CU dash TAC. That's another great bipod option. If you have the money, but you're still looking at two hundred to three hundred dollars for one, all right, you can go to aq tech or aqdash tech dot com. Check them out. They're super beefy, just like the appless bipods. And you know, they have a few different types too. Excuse me, you know a couple of different options are out there, so look into those if you get a chance. As far as ballistic computers go or apps for your phone go, phones nowadays they have a lot of options depending on the phone that you have. If you were to check into some of the various apps out there to search online for an accurate ballistic computer apps for your specific phone. I bet you you'd find something that you'd like. It probably wouldn't be too terribly expensive either. So do that search, see if you can find something you like for your phone. If you want to run some sort of ballistic computer on your phone, you don't have to. But like I was saying. Before, you know, keeping track of the dope. If you guys don't know what dope means, it means distance of previous engagements. Okay, your phone, the app on your phone can help you keep track of those distance of previous engagements. It's a very good thing to have if you're going to be doing long range shooting. Okay, now there's the old method of keeping track of that stuff. And of course you know that's just the three ring binder or the paper and keeping track of exactly how far eat around went, and you know what the ballistical efficient was, the round that you used, the load that you developed for the caliber, all the different stuff that goes into it, the wind, the temperature, the barometer, the all sorts of and stuff, the humidity, all that stuff plays a part when you get further. And further and further out. Okay, there's a company out there called Storm tactical. That makes them really super nice. Tactical. Sorry, some really super nice ballistic textbooks that you can keep track of your dope in. Those are pretty much the best ones I found out. Their storm tactical makes so give them a look online see if they have something that will work for you. They have a small and a large version. It's up to you which one would work for you. Okay, anyways, either way, no matter what you do, keep track of what you're doing when it comes to shooting those rifles, because long range rifles definitely need to have their their their ballistics kept track of. Okay, let's take a look at chat room here real quick. They're talking about some of the different options for shooting sticks. You know, Flying Dustman mentioned that just a small limb with a y in it is a really good option for a shooting stick, and he's right. I mean that why that little crooked would hold the rifle and the bottom part would stick in the ground, or you could hold in the ground and you'd be just fine. Some of the some of the some of the options out there are similar to that too. Some of them are really really good, So keep track of that and keep in mind, like we were talking about that. You don't forget about nature. You definitely do not need to buy something for that if you choose not to. Okay, so let's move on to the next subject here. That would be the wind meter. Okay. The company out there that I go with when it comes to wind meters is called Kestrel. Okay, k E S t R E L Kestrel. If you know anything about wind meters, you know Kestrel is the best. They do make. One I believe is called the Applied Ballistics Model. It is one of the nicer models that they make, and it actually is the one. That the military uses. I'm a big fan of the Applied Ballistics Model myself, but you know, I don't have the money to buy it, so I just go with a lesser model. However, at Kestrel Meters dot com k E S t R E L M E T E r S dot com they have a whole bunch of different models, so you can probably find one in your price range. Okay, next, let's get into ammunition. All right, let's talk ammunition. The next thing that matters the most to me, at least, like I said, is the ammo. Okay, now we've got good ammo. We've got bad ammo, well technically not bad, just dirty. We've got the steelcase, we've got the corrosive. We've got different calibers, different types of cases, different types of primers. We've got stick powder, ballpowder, different types of exactly the same round. You know. We've got a few different types of three eight, a few different types of one seventy grain threeh eight. There's just a whole bunch of different types of stuff out there. So let's talk about the different types of ammo that you can run through your long range rifle. Some of the nicest AMMO out there that I like is anything loaded with the Hornity eld ammo. Okay the eld ammo eld means extremely low drag. Now, in the past, Hornity has I'm sure you've seen them. Hornity has those rounds with the red ballistic tip on them. Okay, That red ballistic tip is usually made of a high strength polymer. Okay, the high strength polymers, like it or not. When they've then they're fired out of a rifle at the end of bullet, they are under extreme friction. Yes, air creates friction, Okay, When they're under extreme friction, like that and also inside the barrel, and as they travel they build up heat, okay, and naturally that polymer can deform okay because of the heat. Plastic heat, you know, plastic melts when it comes contact with heat. Right. Well, Hornity has a proprietary pollen that actually does not melt nearly as bad or sometimes not at all, as opposed to the other polymer ballistic tips out there. And that's why they call those extremely low drag, because they tend to hold the shape of the ballistic tip of that round. Okay. Now, you don't. Necessarily have to use Hornity. You can use any of the ones that are turned ammunition or copper jacketed FMJ. Any of the other types of ammunition that our match grade are usually decent. Enough to use. I also prefer to run the Federal Gold Medal or Federal Gold Medal match ammunition. That's pretty decent stuff. I've recently started using the Winchester match ammunition. That stuff is really good too. So either of those should work just fine. If you're going to run some of the longer range ammunition out there, you could, depending on what you're using, Some rifles prefer different loads. If you're into the reloading stuff. You can you can figure yourself out a pretty decent load with you know, a pretty good powder. However, if you're if you don't know enough about it, maybe at some point we'll do a show on reloading. You know. Heck, I don't know a whole lot about it. I know little, but I don't know as much as some people. And maybe I can bring on an expert and we'll talk more about it. I think that'd be really good. Next up, we can talk about stuff like surplus ammunition. Now, if you're firing something like let's say I'm mos in the Gaunt and you're firing something like seven six two fifty four, are most of that ammunition out there is going to be surplus ammunition? Okay? Now, granted, I think either Hornity or Winchester does make some white box metric ammunition, But as far as the surplus stuff goes, even if you're getting like the Russian surplus stuff that they would use in the dragon Off rifles, don't expect minute of angle accuracy out of something like a mosa the Gaunt or a dragon Off or or anything from you know, your shooting surplus ammunition. You can't expect minute of angle accuracy out of those. It's just something to keep in mind, okay. But you also need to be aware of the fact that a lot of those surplus ammunitions use corrosive primers. Now, I don't know if you guys are aware of, you know, the different types of prime is Burdan, boxer, or rimfire. I'm not sure if you guys are well. Rinfire is not technically a primer, but we'll talk about that later. Burdan is technically is more faced towards the European countries, NATO things like that, and boxer primed ammunition is mostly US. Okay. A lot of the surplus ammunition that is on the market right now does run corrosive Burdan primers. You should definitely try to find out if that ammunition has corrosive primers. But if you can't, don't freak out. It's not a big deal. All you need to do is use the correct cleaning supplies and you should be able to get all those corrosive salts and all the corrosive residue out of your gun. Okay. You can't leave that residue in there like you normally might if you shoot normally ammunition. You can't leave it in there overnight. You have to clean it when you get home. I know some people don't want to, but you need to, Okay. It really should be cleaned as soon as possible, all right. In dry our climates it can be less of an issue. You might be able to leave it for a few. Hours or a day or twelve hours. But I wouldn't risk it. It's up to you. It's your gun, but I wouldn't risk it. Okay. Let's say you did just run a whole bunch of corrosive ammo through your gun, all right, and let's say. You just got home. You're like, okay, now I need to clean it, all right. You know the secret to cleaning corrosive salts out of your gun? Okay, Let's pretend like you don't the big secret. I know it's going to blow you away. Hot Water. Hot water is the absolute best thing. And of course you want to run your normal cleaning stuff after that, but hot water really does a great job at washing away all. Those corrosive salts. I use hot water all the time on my aks and it works great. I'm a big fan of it. Okay, And of course you know I personally would use some of the different stuff after that, like any of the otis kids, you can use the ram oil, you can use any of the bore bright anything like that. I mean, most of the cleaning splies are pretty decent. I'm pretty okay with all that stuff. Okay, you should try to get as hot as you possibly can. Just don't hurt yourself, all right. The next thing I want to move on onto would be something along the lines of spotting scopes. But before I do that, I want to look at the chat. Room here real quick. Okay, let's see they're talking about long range. Here. Looks like g man had a full wind about fifteen miles an hour and he shot a buck walking about three hundred and fifty yards. Wow, he had a buck while I was walking at about three hundred and fifty yards. That is a heck of a shot. Man. Let it buy about six feet six. Inches and he got it. He broke his back. Man best shot he ever had. Okay, they're asking, if they're asking in the chat room, if I would drop my gun in the bathtub. No, I wouldn't drop it in the bathtub. I would probably use the sink in my shop. If I have a shop sink. If not, you could just boil some water and use a finel and poor down the barrel, or just try to wash it off. Now, I know a lot of people will get that and say, oh water, holy crap, dude, that's going to rust your gun. You think it's going to rust your gun worse than corrosive amil? Will you? Obviously you want to dry the gun off afterwards, you know, use an air gun or a towel or anything to dry it off afterwards. But I've had great results with using super hot water to get that corrosive crap out of there. Now, I know there are other techniques, and those other techniques can be used. There's nothing wrong with those techniques. You know, many ways to skin a cat, right, So don't just take mine as the only one out there that is the only one available. Okay, do your research find something that works for you. Okay, they in the chat room, they're they're talking about putting it in the oven too. You know, I suppose you could if you want to, but I wouldn't. Okay, let's move on to spotting scopes. Spotting scopes are pretty a kind. Of a small subject. I mean not terribly small subject, but not nearly as large of a subject as something like, oh, I don't know, practical scopes, you know, or rifle scopes. You got a whole bunch of different options when it comes to rifle scopes, but as far as spotting scopes go, we don't have anywhere near as many options. Okay, I'm going to give you a couple of recommendations on spotting scopes and range finders, and then we're going to take another break. Okay. The spotting scope that I would go with is the sig Oscar three. Now, sig has been doing a pretty dog one good job as far as making optics skies lately, and of course they do a great job making guns too, but their optics are pretty decent, man, They're not bad. The sig Oscar three is a pretty decent spotting scope in my opinion. They also make a really nice rangefinder called the Kilo. Okay. The Kila range finders come in a couple of different sizes and different ranges. Rather, I think they have a twelve fifty and possibly a two thousand that go out to different yardages. You can take a look at those later on if you want to, But pretty much anything SIG as far as you know the optics go, you're doing okay with There's also an option that you can use made by a company called Bursts that is a laser rangefinder's scope. Okay, those scopes are you know, Burst scopes are Okay, And they have one called the Eliminator three. Like I said that, that's a laser rangefinder scope. Now, I have a buddy who does use that, and he swears by it. But I've never used one myself. Okay, I don't know for sure how well they work, but he swears by him, So I figured I would mention it to people who would definitely want to use something more simple like that that they could just have all in one. Me personally, I prefer to use a separate. Rangefinder, but it's all personal preference. Okay, go ahead and take a break, and I will look in the chat room and see if there's anything that I need to go over. Okay, here we go. Okay, we're back. Let's take a look at the chatroom here real quick. We've got someone here asking about some magazines from a company called amend two mags dot com. These look to be ar fifteen magazines now I haven't used these specific magazines here, but they look to be some sort of polymer let's see here, made in the USA, can be share coded. Their heavy duty, non. Memory, non corrosis, stainless steel spring, anti tilt, follower, impact resistant, polymer, textured grip. Okay, some of the stuff. You want to look for when it comes to magazines are obviously anti tilt. Followers may say makes a pretty big difference to me, but some people could care less. Now. I don't know a whole lot about this company. Looks like the mags are about fourteen ninety five. Judging by the fact that most Magpole magazines are pretty close to the same price. I would hope that they're smart to make their products as good as Magpole. If they're going to charge just as much as Magpole, I would tend to say that they would get destroyed online pretty quickly if they didn't. Of course, there's certain states that you can't ship these two. But maybe what I'll do to answer some of the questions in the chat room. Maybe what I'll do is I'll order myself a few of these and run them through my ars and see what I can find out, you know, drop them in the dirt, beat the crap out of them. Maybe we'll do an entire show on torture testing different products. You know, maybe that would be a really good show. You know, check in the chat room and see if anybody wants us to do that. Okay, Okay, the other thing in the chat room right now, and I'll get back to the long range bag and what I carry in in a second here. But there was a really good question in the chat room. One of the Michael Klein actually asked what my opinion of ram Oil and break Free was. I really like ram Oil and I really like break Free. I'm a big fan of the Remmington cleaning products. One of my favorite Remmington cleaning products. Honestly, this may seem a little bit weird, but it's the ram Oil wipes. Those are great, and they're disposable. You can open them up, use them one time. You can use them to oil almost the entire gun and they they work awesome. You can get them in the little tiny corners. I really love those ram Oil wipes. I carry a whole bunch of those in all of my range bags and even in my tactical gear. I carry them just in case because you never know when you'd need them. Break Free is another good product. I like to use that for cleaning out my girls. I like to also use copper copper some there's one of the copper solvents that I really like to The name escapes me at the moment, but yeah, yeah, I'm a big fan of the Raymonton cleaning products. You really, you really can't go wrong with. Any of those. I'm a big fan. One of the things you want to look for, though, as far as cleaning products go, especially any of the solvents, is if you're going to be cleaning something like block or an HK, any of the guns with polymer lowers or polymers frames or even ar fifteens, with any kind of polymer furniture, you want to be careful that you use a polymer safe solivan. Okay. Not every solivan out there is polymer safe. Okay, it will say it, or it should say it on the can. Okay. Make sure you use a polymer safe solivent to clean those guns with polymer lowers or any kind of polymer furniture. If you're going to clean the furniture, use a polymer safe cleaner. Okay. Just something you keep in mind. You definitely don't want your gun to start cracking while you're shooting it. You can find all kinds of horror stories online where that's actually happened to people. Okay, all right, back to the long. Range range bag and we'll be carrying it. This is actually a really good segue here. The next thing on the list after range finders, after I was talking about the sig Kilo is cleaning gear. As far as cleaning gear goes, you have a whole bunch of different options that you can carry into range bag. One of the things that I like to carry is one thing that I made earlier is the little Otis kits Otis o tis. They make little kits for AR fifteens, they make little kits for twelve gage shotguns, they make little kits for the AK. They make these little tiny circular kits that you can carry. I think they even bramm them now. I think I saw one that was have the HK logo on it. They're really super nice to use. I'm a big fan of them. They come with pretty much everything you need. One of the other things that I like to use to clean my guns, and this is only for certain things. Of course, I would use a cleaning rod for most longer barrels, but there are some situations where a bor snake can be used. Okay, Now, I know some people hate wor snakes, but in my opinion, they are not to be used to clean the entire gun. They are a good starting area and then you probably want to move on to the cleaning rod. And it depends on how much you shot the gun. But that's just my opinion. Clean your gun the way you want. Okay. Anyways, that's something to look into. The otis kits, Okay, always and the other. Thing I mentioned earlier too, always carry a cleaning kit that has those those cleaning rods in it in case you need to pop out a stuck case or anything of that nature. Okay. The next thing that we're going to talk about is the thing that I mentioned earlier, which was the IFAC, the AR five hundred armor, or any I fact that you could possibly carry. Okay, now I already told you about the AR five hundred one. There are a whole bunch of other ones that are really nice out there. That's just the one that I prefer. Okay. There's a company called Readyman that makes a really nice I fact too, But you don't necessarily need to buy a ready made I fact. Okay, you can just make your own eye fact. And we did talk about this earlier on one of the other shows. But there are five items that I would carry. Now, this is for a range. This is not for every day and when someone you know, when you could be out anywhere or everywhere. Okay, this is just for the range. I would carry these five specific items either sellox or quick colot, some sort of tourniquet whether it be swat tea soft tea or whatever other one. Some sort of chess seal whether it be fox seal or a hyphen chess seal, some sort of a a olace or NAR four inch modular emergency bandage, and some sort of triangle bandage. Okay, you should at least have those things as far as medical goes in your kit. Okay. The next thing we. Talked about was ear pro and ie pro. Okay, which means ear protection and eye protection. All right. I recently got a really nice set of Walker's electronic ear protection from Prescott Gun Club here in town. I really love shooting there. It's a great club. Got a nice twenty five yard range. I got the Walkers Electronic ear Pro and they work like a charm man. They use triple A batteries. You can hear people when they talk to you, but they still cut the sound out. I believe it's about a twenty two decibel cutout, which is nice. But of course there's also Howard Light. Those Howard Light Electronic Ear Pro is really good too, so that's another one to keep in mind. Both are great. Neither one. I wouldn't poo poo year one. Either one be just fine. Tears. Now, recently, I've been seeing a lot of people that will use on top of using the electronic ear protection, they will also use earplugs inside their ears and then put the electronic ear protection over top of that. Now I understand why they're doing that, and that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. I personally don't do that, But there are some people that I'm sure have been told by their doctors to protect their hearing, and I'm sure that's probably one reason why they're doing it. But there's also the other reason why. Especially at a. Range, you don't know what the guy next to you is going to be shooting, you need to be very very careful with what the guy next to you is shooting, not just what you're shooting. Just the other day at Presky Gun Club, there was a whole bunch of people on the range shooting twenty two's and nine mils and forty five and then a guy walks out there with a Desert Eagle fifty AE and starts black and off rounds. Needless to say, the range came to a halt and everyone looked over at him, you know, because it was very jarring. And it's fine. I mean, he can shoot there that that caliber, he can shoot that caliber there, but you need to be aware of what the people next to you are shooting. Okay. So if you want to double up on ear ear protection, there's nothing wrong with that. Okay. If you can't afford electronic ear protection, Surefire makes some really nice ear protection that is not terribly expensive. They come a few different sizes, and they worn't great for me. I have a couple of different pairs of those, and they work great. As far as eye protection goes, I like to go with sunglasses because usually most of the time I'm shooting outside, I either go with Revision Healthly sunglasses, which are the eighty seven rated now if you don't know what the eighty seven rated is is the Ocean rating for safety when it comes to do any kind of glasses or goggles that are being used in a factory or anywhere else. It's a it's a it's a rating with specific velocities. Okay, Revision Health Light sunglasses are the ones that I like to wear, which I was the eighty seven rated. But if you want to go with something more along the lines of goggles like we talked about earlier, you can also go with the Revision Exoshield. The Revision Exoshield goggles are really nice, really low profile, and they have a gasket around them so you won't get dust into your eyes. There also is the eighty seven raid like I said, but they're super lightweight, which is really nice too. We also earlier we also spoke about the Lula loaders, which are super. Nice to use too. Sometimes your hands get tired when you're loading all these these weapons. You know, my hands get tired. I'm not perfect, you know, so I like to have a loader with me. It's it's a very very good thing to have on you if if you get tired. It's not a bad thing at all. Don't think there's anything wrong with that. Okay, let's take a look at a chat room here, all right. One of the things, oh well, before I forget, one of the things I want to mention is for you guys to check out Reality Check when you get a chance, a really good show. And you'll want to check out Prepping Up with Jones. That's another really cool show. So check out either of those when you get a chance. I'm big fan. You guys will be too, trust me. All right, Okay, so moving on, we were going to talk about small targets also. Now I said that that's another good thing that I like to carry in my pack. Now, you don't have to carry small targets. You can carry large targets if you're driving out in the middle of the desert or forest or wherever you're going to shoot. Make sure you go far enough out of town, of course, but you don't necessarily have to carry small targets. You can also go to the trist store and buy all kinds of different trash to shoot too if you want to, but make sure that you pick up after yourself. Don't let me catch you out there with a big old TV shooting it to crap and then you leave that trash out there. That's rude, it's irresponsible. Don't do it. Okay. Some of the nicer targets out there, like the disposable ones that you can get, are the shooting sea targets. Now I'm not sure if I've spoken of those before, but the shooting sea targets are really really cool because, like their name says, when you shoot them, you can see them. Now at longer ranges, it becomes harder to see that. Okay, that's why you could use that spotting scope. But if you want to know if you're hitting the target at a longer range and you'd rather not use that type of target, you can use the steel targets that everyone uses. And when you fire, of course you're going to hear that ding if you hit the target. Okay, but keep in mind that you may not have missed. It may just take a second for the round to reach that target, depending on what range you are. Okay. Steel targets are great when you're running drills when you're shooting long range, but you have to be careful with steel targets when you're up close. Okay, now, I know we're talking about long range shooting bags here and long range setups for range. Okay, but I have to say this because it's important, all right, When you shoot steel targets up close, you need to use frangible ambunition, okay, Otherwise those rounds can explode and will not technically explode, they can't break apart, and pieces of jacket and all sorts of other stuff can hit you if you're up close to those steel targets. So you definitely definitely need to use frangible ambunition if. You don't want to get hurt, all right. Something you keep in. Mind, those pieces are going extremely fast. And it's also another really good reason for you to carry an individual first aid kit with you, any kind of an ifact, okay, because the idiot next to you may not be nearly as smart as you are, all right, something to keep in mind, all right, Just do not use FMJ or HaLow point ammo on those kind of steel targets unless you're far enough away to where those ricochets can't hurt you, all right. Now. The next thing that we already spoke about was a small toolkit. Okay, having a small toolkit with you when you're out shooting is always a good thing. It doesn't matter if it's a short range session, if it's a mid range session, long range session. You know, screws can walk out, man, screws can come loose, pieces can start to get loose on guns. So if you have a small toolkit with you, you can tighten that stuff back down and get back to shooting. Especially if you're in a competition, you'd want to have some sort of a toolkit with you to actually tighten that stuff back down in between stages or whenever you think is appropriate. Okay, at a minimum, you don't have to carry a gigantic kit. But at a minimum, like I've said before, I would carry a Leatherman tool. Whether it be the Signal tool or the MUT, it doesn't matter. It's just some sort of Leatherman tool. But the MUT is optimized for the AR fifteen, So if you're running an AR fifteen, you can definitely carry something like an MUT. Okay, let's take a quick I've got about four minutes left. Let's take a super quick look here at the chat room here. Okay. One of the things that they said in the chat room is what ended the range day. The last time they were there was their site came loose. Okay. That that is a very common thing that the rings on a site can come loose very easily. So if you're carry an Allen wrench or a torque wrench with you, you can tighten those back up without a problem. The other suggestion was from Flying Dutchman. If you lock tight, use blue lock tight you can actually tighten those things down and hold those in place. Now. Blue lock tight, of course, you know, can be loosened by hand, but some people like to apply redlock type. If you do apply red lock TIGHTE you need to use heat from a heat gun to loosen it back up if you want to remove it. Okay. Sometimes even with blue lock TIGHTE use a heat gun that will get it off. Okay. And before I forget, I mentioned reality check earlier. Okay, Tomorrow reality check is amateur night Okay, so you need to come check that out. It will be a very interesting reality check. Okay, and I'm sure a lot of you out there have had interesting reality checks in your own lives. Okay. So the final thing that I mentioned that you should have in your long range bag or your range bag is pen and paper. Okay. You may need you may need to record all sorts of information. Heck, you may need to write down the license plate of some idiot that stole someone else's gun. You always, always, always want to have pen and paper available to you in case you need it, Okay, and it's not going. To bother you. You have, you know, piece of paper, pen as on. It's heavy. You need to carry something like that with you, okay. And that as far as the the long range stuff goes. That's that's pretty much all the stuff that I carry with me. I have a few more suggestions for different types of other things I would carry, you know, like different types of the additional AMMO and other companies that I would carry ammunition from and things like that.
