Tracking 2026 El Nino with Deep Intel from GetReady.Team

It's fun. Recently, I figured the fun in patches. I don't know. Patches were a thing, I feel like, a decade ago, and I was like, eh, not really into it. All of a sudden, I don't know. There's something about it. I want to talk about, not Il Nino, but El Nino. Not Il Nino, one of my favorite bands in high school. Went and seen him multiple times. You probably never heard of him. But I want to talk about El Nino. There's a lot of El Nino in the back of my mind lately. There's a lot of winter prep. There's a lot of, you know, whenever I see a historic weather event, I think, let's talk about it. You know what I mean? Let's figure this thing out. Let's see what in the hell is actually happening. Because, well, according to key numbers, right, 2026, greater than 90% chance of a very strong event. Nino 3.4 peak of at least plus two degrees Celsius during northern hemisphere fall and winter, which is the highest since 1950 on three month relative index. I don't know what any of that means, but it sounds like a lot. It sounds like a pretty damn strong El Nino, man. And yeah. Fall preparedness, winter preparedness, early winter precipitation. What are we dealing with? What should we be cranking on? in terms of our level of preparedness at home to deal with the winter, right? Now, to some, I mean, let's get real about it, right? Church and state is what the Joe Rogan podcast wants to be, but it's gotten too big and too influential and too, I don't know, whatever else, you know? But when I look at the lineup of guests over a week, when I listen to the shows, I go like, wow, like these are the diamonds in the rough. The things that I used to go to Joe Rogan for were people. Right. You would go for the guests because the guests would bring something that you didn't know, something you never thought about. You know what I mean? That's church and state, man. I can read the facts that other smarter scientists and smarter people than me have figured out about this month's Il Nino. El Nino, I'm sorry. Il Nino was such a formative band in my early years that I'm going to say Il Nino a lot this show, and I apologize for that. I remember distinctly walking the tracks away from my high school girlfriend's house having us having After having us both gone our separate ways in a breakup. That we would mend. But going our separate ways in a breakup. And just playing one of their songs over and over and over again in the headphones. You know what I mean? On my way to my friend's house to lick the wounds. So they were very formative. But I meet this guy over on Reddit. And he has a website called getready.team. And look. There's a bunch of websites popping up. One of the reasons I wanted to do– I changed a few things on PBN this year. I'm not going to go into it. But one of the reasons I changed some things on PBN is because there are so many people doing amazing things. This is not the first time you're hearing me say this. The whole NPM series, the whole National Preparedness Month series is that. There's amazing people doing amazing things. I have probably one of the best vehicles to show an audience of preppers what they're up to. I said, that's what I got to do, right? Do my best to be of service in some way. And that makes sense to me. So I'm going to take you to his website because you're going to see something regarding El Nino that is going to blow your mind. I mean, I'm going to show you some other stuff too. So getready.team. I get to this website and I'm checking it out and I'm like, okay, what do we got going on here? We got news. We got intelligence tools. I click the intelligence tools situation here and I'm like, whoa. Okay. We got, we got some stuff and I don't know what any of it means. You know what I mean? I'm looking it over and yeah, climate Atlas and storm tracker. And I see down here El Nino tracker, right? And what we're going to do right now in the video side is I'm going to disappear. Actually. I am absolutely going to disappear. Um, because I think that's the best way to handle this. You don't need to see me. There's no need to look at me in my hat, right? We've got it all figured out. So the El Nino, the El, see, there you go. The El Nino tracker is one of many tools here that it's hard to believe, but it's real. Like you can just go there. You could just go there. Right. And, uh, Use them. There's a flock map. I mean, it's really cool. There's all kinds of stuff. We're going to dig into this one, right? We're going to dig into this one for sure. Let me get into it now. Sorry, I was trying to look for something in particular in the background. So Noel Nino on record has started this hot. It gives you that. Live temperature. Remember, they're saying by like fall or winter, we're going to hit two degrees Celsius temperature rise or plus two percent, plus two degree rather temperature Celsius rise three months before the typical peak is where we're at now. Could go higher. Who knows? I love this little interactive guy here. This thing. Look at it. You grab and you turn. Right. You grab, you pull. You can see where we're at here, right? Hopefully you know what you're looking at. Basically the Middle East. All the fun. All the fun. So this is what we're waiting on. We're waiting on to see how far this band extends and how extreme the heat is. But look at these tools. Oh, look, you can even do it with arrows. I didn't realize that. But there's even more information down here. How 2026 compares to other years, you can see how it has the potential to be the hottest on record, most likely. Right now, the Nino is 5,600 kilometers across, guys. It's a lot. It's a freaking lot. Winter patterns in the United States this year, right? A strong El Nino usually shifts the Pacific jet stream north. Right. So the Pacific jet stream shifts north. That produces a split warmer, drier north, stormier, wetter south. OK. Northern tier Pacific Northwest, northern Rockies, northern plains, Great Lakes favored warmer than average and drier. Expect reduced mountain snowpack, more rain than snow at the mid elevations, and a lower heating demand. This is for your northern tier, right? Your Pacific Northwest, Northern Rockies. Southern tier in California, okay, pay attention here. Favored wetter. Highest confidence wet signal from Southern California and Southwest across the Southern Plains Gulf Coast and Southeast, with some extension up the East Coast. Cooler than average temperatures are more likely in parts of the South because of increased cloud cover and rain. Sierra Nevada and Southern Central Rockies are often see, uh, often see above, uh, average, above normal snow. So that's, that's a big one, man, right? That's one of those things that, uh, you can understand now, right? You can understand what it is we got going on in terms of where it's going to be warmer, where it's going to be cooler. I think if we're going to have cooler temperatures in the South, I'm far enough North personally in Virginia that I think we're going to deal with a lot of snow this year, which is pretty rare for us. And we'll really thrill the kids. They will be absolutely in love with that. So, uh, Let's see here. Get a look at the. You get a look at what's going on here with the El Nino weather impacts across the world. But the tool I want to show you is what happens when we put our area in. Right. So I'm going to put a Richmond zip code in here. I have to edit that out. So we put our zip code in. And as you can see, we get this, right? For those of you listening, we put our zip code into it and we've got a whole breakdown of what to look for, right? What this says is warmer than normal. 33% odds that it'll be warmer than normal through, where is this? Precipitation wetter than normal in Richmond. No drought expected. River flooding outlook is low. Wildfire conditions are normal. Seasonal rainfall, 75% of normal. Walker circulation weakens. This is not tailored to my area. But you can use this to put in any zip code and find out your location. It's pretty sweet. Pretty awesome little tool. This is your 2026 El Nino Outlook, right? Seasonal Outlook. Polar jet retreats north. Milder winter. Thinner snowpack. Lower heating demand. This is that northern U.S. section. Southern U.S. Let's click that bad boy. Southern U.S., 133% of normal, strong relationship. I don't know what that means. Subtropical jet strength, wetter, stormier winter, flooding, severe weather hazard, infrastructure strain. Winter flooding, severe storm exposure. One of the things to think about here, from a homesteading or growing of your own food situation, Yes, it'll be fall. Yes, this thing will probably creep up in the fall and we'll have one of those really rainy falls. Take that and use that to your advantage, guys. You know what I mean? Use that to your advantage because what that allows you to do is to plant some things with that 30-day or 45-day life cycle. You know, your lettuces, your greens, your kales, these kinds of things. Plant a lot of those and then utilize that rainwater to just make things go crazy, right? You can do this. Like this is doable. Something I learned this year, you know, when you see a stretch of rain, no matter where you're at, this is a big deal. No matter where you're at in your growing season, you see a stretch of rain coming, like days and days of rain, plant seeds, plant grass, plant seeds, plant something. There's something about that rainwater. It's impeccable. You know what I mean? It does things for you you can't even believe. So we've got data notes down here, right? It goes even further. You got to go to their website, check them out. So flood-prone areas, California, Southwest, Gulf, Southeast, right? These are things to consider, man, like, These are those areas that have potential for flooding. But to box it all up, right, I've got four bullet points here that can help us from sort of the preparedness standpoint, right? Generators, sump pumps, roof and gutter maintenance, guys, right? We're going to have an active rainy storm season. Might be snow for some of you. Might be a lot of rain for others, right? On the growing of food side, right? Think about heavy, heavy rain and what that might do to a garden, right? Planning date flexibility. It's like I told you, right? The type of things that you grow and when you grow them. You may want to increase drainage from certain areas or improve on drainage now while you have time. Because, you know, this is what it's going to be. In the northwest, you might even want to plan on a drier situation because it looks like it could be that way in the Pacific Northwest. Milder northern winters. Right. We'll cut heating demand, which is just on time. We'll be able to power all those data centers, baby. Thank God. But storm disruptions and wet soil issues in the south can affect infrastructure. So we've got to be aware about that. We've got to be prepared for power outages, time without heat, backup heat options, kerosene, propane, whatever you got. Right. Know that your little solar generator, I tell you this every year, but your solar generator, no matter how big it is, if you run a space heater on it, you're going to absolutely bleed it. Nothing. So keep that in mind. So there's a lot to consider this year. You know what I mean? You can keep an eye on it here at getready.team. But I want to show you some other cool stuff. To see what kind of power outages happen. It shows you the aurora. It shows you the grid down. It shows you the stress on the grid. Northern latitudes are in trouble here. You can run another one.
