[00:00:03] You're listening, James, to PBN.
[00:00:08] You're paying back the stability here.
[00:00:31] Where do you go to find your hidden preps, your prepper gems, those places that, and there are so many out there, both private business and secondhand store, right?
[00:00:51] I wanted to introduce you guys to greentipsurplus.com.
[00:00:57] The homepage here at greentipsurplus.com is showing off what would be a pretty sizable investment for everybody.
[00:01:07] The Harris RF 7800H, ManPak Radio Mint Condition, Minerware, Export Version.
[00:01:18] And, yeah, I don't know.
[00:01:19] This is one of those preps if you know, you know, right?
[00:01:21] It's one of those kind of things.
[00:01:24] But military surplus is pretty excellent.
[00:01:33] And if you have a place local to you, there are a lot of things that you can pick up.
[00:01:38] I remember a few years back at prepper camp, Jay Ferg from Phoenix Survival picked up these wool, 100% wool sleeping bags with holes, zip ripcord holes at the bottom for your boots to stick out.
[00:01:54] And this is the grumpy old, grumpy old surf.
[00:02:01] I can't remember the guy's name, unfortunately, at the moment.
[00:02:05] But these military surplus locations, man, they can afford you some really cool stuff.
[00:02:12] There can be some serious hidden.
[00:02:13] You know what you do in these places like greentipsurplus.com?
[00:02:18] You solve problems, right?
[00:02:21] With, like, the universal utility belt or the two-point tactical sling for that rifle you haven't put a sling on yet.
[00:02:29] But you wind up face-to-face with things that you probably need, but you just don't wind up, you know, you don't wind up shopping for them all that often.
[00:02:42] Or you can add things to bug out bags and get home bags and so on.
[00:02:46] It's just, you know, there's a lot.
[00:02:49] So I'm perusing over here now.
[00:02:51] Now I'm perusing for my own good at greentipsurplus.com.
[00:02:58] We got some night vision.
[00:03:00] We got some expensive night vision.
[00:03:04] I don't know if you've ever shopped night vision, but here's a good idea of what kind of money you could wind up spending.
[00:03:12] Now, the guys with the Matter of Facts podcast always have a great take on night vision.
[00:03:19] They do a real good job with it.
[00:03:21] They do a real good job with night vision on a budget.
[00:03:28] We got the, what are these, the IR lasers here?
[00:03:32] Dual beam.
[00:03:34] Cool stuff.
[00:03:36] Cool stuff for sure.
[00:03:38] One thief surplus.
[00:03:41] One thief surplus.
[00:03:43] Genuine surplus tactical military gear and accessories.
[00:03:47] Oh yeah.
[00:03:48] Pouches, man.
[00:03:49] Greentipsurplus.com.
[00:03:52] Pouches.
[00:03:53] You can never have enough pouches.
[00:03:56] There's always things to go in a pouch.
[00:03:58] Shock cord.
[00:04:00] Modular three magazine carrier.
[00:04:05] I know it's right after Christmas.
[00:04:07] What am I doing?
[00:04:08] Right.
[00:04:12] What are we going to do?
[00:04:13] Woodland bivy cover sack.
[00:04:15] Not bad.
[00:04:16] It's a nice backpack.
[00:04:17] This OCP multicam mall two rucksack.
[00:04:24] I like the USGI web belt.
[00:04:26] Nice.
[00:04:27] Nice.
[00:04:28] I don't know about that plastic clip, but other than that, I like it.
[00:04:33] Do you guys run those, like those seatbelt belts?
[00:04:37] Or do you do the old leather thing?
[00:04:40] Sternum strap for the rucksack.
[00:04:41] This is a big difference maker, man.
[00:04:43] Oh, these are sold out.
[00:04:44] The sternum straps are sold out.
[00:04:48] It looks like Greentipsurplus is selling some Mira safety gear for those interested in filtering the air out.
[00:05:02] The MD1 children's mask.
[00:05:03] Very cool.
[00:05:05] 200 bucks.
[00:05:06] Pretty affordable.
[00:05:09] There are a lot of options at Mira.
[00:05:12] I wrote for Mira for a short period of time.
[00:05:17] About a year or something like that.
[00:05:20] Yeah, old grouch.
[00:05:22] Isn't that what it was called, J. Ferg?
[00:05:24] I can't remember.
[00:05:26] Right now I'm on Greentipsurplus.com.
[00:05:31] Thanks for joining me this morning, though, in the chat room.
[00:05:35] So what else, man?
[00:05:36] What, you know, where else do you find your gems?
[00:05:40] Because there are places.
[00:05:43] I am one of these guys who's always talking thrift shops, thrift stores.
[00:05:52] I just picked up the, I don't know, a week, two weeks ago, the SAS Survival Guide, a copy of it for $2.
[00:06:00] You know, having that, it doesn't matter.
[00:06:06] There you go.
[00:06:06] Tim in Clyde, North Carolina.
[00:06:09] Old grouch.
[00:06:10] If you want to support somebody who lived or survived Helene and lived to tell about it and still in business up there in Clyde.
[00:06:22] He's a great guy.
[00:06:24] Great, great gear, too.
[00:06:26] But there's a good chance that you've got one of these military surplus locations closed by.
[00:06:32] Or you may have flea markets close by, right?
[00:06:36] You definitely got thrift shops around.
[00:06:38] And then, of course, you have marketplaces.
[00:06:41] You've got like these online marketplaces.
[00:06:44] You have the Facebook marketplace.
[00:06:46] I don't play around on the Facebook marketplace.
[00:06:48] My wife handles that.
[00:06:51] I'm an old decrepit Craigslist user.
[00:06:57] But I'm telling you, Craigslist is so full of good stuff, man.
[00:07:00] But it's still, to this day, filled with great stuff.
[00:07:05] And, you know, sometimes you can even get it free.
[00:07:08] Let's see what's free on Craigslist this morning real quick.
[00:07:10] Since we're talking prepper gems and hidden gems and hidden preps and hidden treasures.
[00:07:15] You know.
[00:07:18] Large wooden wheel.
[00:07:20] Commercial cable.
[00:07:23] Chevy truck fuel filter.
[00:07:29] What do we got?
[00:07:30] Free shopping carts.
[00:07:31] I don't know.
[00:07:31] Get creative.
[00:07:33] Water transport.
[00:07:34] Something like that.
[00:07:38] Not too much.
[00:07:39] A lot of furniture.
[00:07:41] Not too much by way of preps.
[00:07:43] But a lot of time you come across things like lumber and sometimes electronics.
[00:07:50] Sometimes a lot of firewood if you're willing to go grab it and cut it up.
[00:07:53] You know.
[00:07:54] People call things firewood.
[00:07:56] And really it's just like trees.
[00:07:58] They want you to take out of there.
[00:08:00] Take out of there.
[00:08:01] But, you know, 99% of the chickens I get.
[00:08:05] The quail that I just got.
[00:08:08] All that stuff comes off of Craigslist.
[00:08:10] I find people on Craigslist who are selling.
[00:08:14] Just one of those things, man.
[00:08:15] Just works.
[00:08:20] Where was this guy?
[00:08:23] 27 days ago.
[00:08:24] I know this ain't working.
[00:08:25] But look, look.
[00:08:25] This is what I just found.
[00:08:26] This didn't turn up in.
[00:08:28] Oh, this did turn up in free.
[00:08:29] How did I miss this?
[00:08:31] I have to rehome my chickens and ducks.
[00:08:33] I have Jersey Giants, Bantams, assorted ducks, young and old.
[00:08:36] I also have a coop and supplies that I would sell if someone was interested.
[00:08:40] Birds are free to someone with the property to raise them free range.
[00:08:43] Since that's what they're used to.
[00:08:45] Call, text.
[00:08:48] Just sitting here.
[00:08:49] Just sitting here.
[00:08:50] Waiting for somebody.
[00:08:51] There's probably some prepper right now or somebody out there who is sitting there thinking to himself,
[00:08:59] I would really love to get my hands on some chickens, but I don't have the money.
[00:09:07] Right?
[00:09:10] I'm telling you, man.
[00:09:16] Oh, I'm not.
[00:09:17] Sorry, Jay Ferg.
[00:09:18] I'm not putting the Craigslist up there.
[00:09:22] I was just looking over it personally.
[00:09:25] You know, the other aspect of seeking out these hidden gems in the prepping world.
[00:09:34] Well, let's be clear about it, right?
[00:09:37] Prepping has become a business.
[00:09:39] It's become a very valuable business.
[00:09:43] Billion dollar industry, right?
[00:09:45] Something along those lines.
[00:09:46] It's got to be close.
[00:09:48] And disaster preparedness, survival, all that kind of stuff.
[00:09:53] And what happens is you wind up with a bunch of companies selling things.
[00:10:00] But you don't always know who's got what.
[00:10:02] But one of the things I'm looking to do for you guys this year is get into gear a little more for you.
[00:10:12] It is like an area that I just never really, I always neglect to show you guys, talk to you guys about gear.
[00:10:21] And maybe it's because so many people do it.
[00:10:23] Maybe it's because so many people kind of shill it a little bit.
[00:10:27] You know what I mean?
[00:10:27] And I always had that kind of like, let me just, let me just not even.
[00:10:32] Go there.
[00:10:33] You know what I mean?
[00:10:35] Because for me, it was important to build and is always important to build credibility.
[00:10:40] I want you guys to hear what I say more than anything and, you know, take value in it.
[00:10:47] Because I think about it a lot.
[00:10:48] And I have a lot of experience in this preparedness stuff now.
[00:10:52] And it's, you know, I believe in it.
[00:10:56] I want you to believe in it.
[00:10:58] But I think 2025 is the year we get down and dirty and talk about gear and talk about real gear that I use.
[00:11:05] And also talk about real gear that I find that's, you know, all kinds of stuff is sent to me or people want to send stuff to me because of the podcast.
[00:11:18] A lot of times I say no, to be honest.
[00:11:20] And I say no because I don't know what they're working with.
[00:11:24] They send something to you.
[00:11:25] They want you to do a review.
[00:11:27] They want you to talk about it.
[00:11:28] And the last thing I want to do is get a bag full of junk and tell the Prepper Broadcasting Network that the guy who sent me the bag full of junk sent me a bag full of junk.
[00:11:39] Don't waste your money on it.
[00:11:40] You know, that kind of thing.
[00:11:43] So what I've gotten good at is kind of finding the good stuff.
[00:11:49] You know what I mean?
[00:11:49] Finding the good stuff.
[00:11:51] Finding the people who are there's a million people who are doing.
[00:11:57] Like backpacks, you know what I mean?
[00:11:59] Like survival bags pre-made and understand like there are some seriously tough limitations that somebody who is running a backpack company, what they have to deal with.
[00:12:16] You know what I mean?
[00:12:17] Like in terms of cost and overhead and making some money while still providing you with a bag that works.
[00:12:24] It's not like you can say, I want to sell a survival bag for $200.
[00:12:28] I want the person to get the bag completely packed with the, you know, highest level gear, top quality tents and, you know, Gerber this and Smith and Wes and that.
[00:12:41] And, you know, all the best stuff.
[00:12:43] They won't make any money, you know?
[00:12:46] So there's that balance.
[00:12:48] That's their business, not mine.
[00:12:49] I don't sell survival bags, right?
[00:12:50] But what I want to direct you to is a place where you can buy a bag that works.
[00:13:00] Because sometimes a bag solves the problem, right?
[00:13:02] Sometimes a bag really can solve the problem, particularly with like kids or family.
[00:13:08] You know what I mean?
[00:13:10] I've been hanging with Bill over at Lima Tango Survival.
[00:13:16] And Bill does a great job, man.
[00:13:18] He has struck that balance.
[00:13:20] And one of the ways he struck that balance is through experience.
[00:13:26] So, in other words, he's through experience in the U.S. military, Air Force rather, he's figured out what things can go into these bags that make sense and are effective.
[00:13:39] The other thing that they do at Lima Tango Survival that I really like, what I'm getting at is the overview.
[00:13:50] There are a bunch of people who make bags in the world with stuff in them.
[00:13:55] The hidden gems are the ones that actually work, right?
[00:13:59] Are the ones that are actually worth the money, the ones that are actually going to make a difference in your life.
[00:14:04] Now, I'm holding on to a bag of his now.
[00:14:10] And I've already gone over it and gone through it and everything.
[00:14:13] Check out this homestead real quick.
[00:14:17] And the bag is great.
[00:14:18] The bag is definitely something I would send to a family member or throw into a truck for a family member.
[00:14:26] As a sort of, you know, quick go-to bug out bag, get home bag, something along those lines.
[00:14:36] Even a camping bag, really.
[00:14:39] But I like this because this is just insane and fun.
[00:14:43] So this is a four-man 72-hour survival crate called the Homestead.
[00:14:51] I don't know, man.
[00:14:52] These are fun.
[00:14:54] Look at the big giant crate.
[00:14:55] You get two backpacks of gear, comms options, light options.
[00:15:02] Look at the headlamps.
[00:15:04] You see, you almost automatically get me if you got headlamps in your kit.
[00:15:08] Look at the Mountain House Foods, right?
[00:15:11] Look at the food rations, water rations, mess kit.
[00:15:17] This is a rare.
[00:15:18] Look at the mess kit.
[00:15:20] It's a rare thing to see.
[00:15:22] And the cooktop there.
[00:15:24] You see that little cooktop that goes on top of a butane?
[00:15:28] Man, like I have had that same cooktop right there my whole prepping career.
[00:15:37] Literally.
[00:15:38] My whole prepping career I've had that thing.
[00:15:41] It's just awesome.
[00:15:42] It's just one of those, you know, it's been through hell.
[00:15:44] It still works.
[00:15:46] Hand pump water filter essential.
[00:15:48] I got this IFAC survival EDC here.
[00:15:52] I got one of these in my bag.
[00:15:55] It's loaded with stuff.
[00:15:57] I don't know if that, I don't know that it's loaded with the best medical gear.
[00:16:01] My medical bags are set up different.
[00:16:04] I don't have an overhead.
[00:16:06] But this thing's a cool little pouch.
[00:16:08] It's a cool pouch.
[00:16:09] Here's another focal point that I really appreciate.
[00:16:14] Gloves, goggles.
[00:16:15] Look at them.
[00:16:16] Real gloves.
[00:16:19] Real goggles that are going to be effective.
[00:16:22] It's the details, PBN family.
[00:16:25] You know, the other thing that really got me with Lima Tango is their focus on outerwear.
[00:16:32] I was out in the snow yesterday playing with the kids.
[00:16:35] We were doing sledding, you know, all that kind of thing.
[00:16:39] And I'm telling you right now, man.
[00:16:41] It's like, it's one of those things where you just, you get good at not getting cold.
[00:16:52] And it becomes a vital thing, you know.
[00:16:54] So the Solo here, the one man 24 hour survival kit.
[00:17:01] The Solo Black Ops.
[00:17:02] This is what I'm going to show you guys.
[00:17:03] Okay.
[00:17:04] This is going to go on Family Gear.
[00:17:05] We're going to do a full review of this on Family Gear.
[00:17:08] You can get it in all kinds of patterns too, by the way.
[00:17:12] This bag, it's one of those bags where I love it the way that it is.
[00:17:19] I love it the way that it's packed up right here and now.
[00:17:25] Got the gloves, got the LifeStraw.
[00:17:28] I'm not tremendous.
[00:17:30] My one thing with this bag that I don't love is the LifeStraw as my water option.
[00:17:37] No, there are Aqua tabs.
[00:17:40] So we can use the Aqua tabs.
[00:17:41] But I would want, if I were to really call this kit my own and do something with it,
[00:17:48] I would want another water filtration option.
[00:17:52] Especially if it's going to be strenuous.
[00:17:54] But a lot of cool little gear.
[00:17:56] I tested the knife out.
[00:17:58] It's nice.
[00:17:59] You know, this shovel is something that I think is a good move.
[00:18:03] This was surprising.
[00:18:05] This was something that really surprised me about this kit.
[00:18:07] Is the sewing kit.
[00:18:11] Included sewing kit.
[00:18:13] Really cool.
[00:18:14] Survival rations.
[00:18:15] The whole nine yards.
[00:18:16] You know.
[00:18:17] Just is what it is.
[00:18:18] I'm trapped.
[00:18:21] So who are your go-to companies?
[00:18:23] You know what I mean?
[00:18:24] Who are your companies that you go to that, you know, they're putting stuff out all the time.
[00:18:33] And you love it.
[00:18:35] You use it.
[00:18:36] You know, that kind of thing.
[00:18:38] Because there's just so much.
[00:18:39] I mean, I don't know if you understand the amount of companies that are out there.
[00:18:43] I'll tell you another one that I love.
[00:18:46] Is my Survive Drive.
[00:18:49] My Survive Drive is a tremendous company.
[00:18:51] That gives you the ability to put like, you know.
[00:18:56] They give you the ability to put all kinds of digital information onto a survival bracelet.
[00:19:03] A small little survival bracelet zip.
[00:19:06] I'm sorry.
[00:19:07] Like a USB.
[00:19:10] Like a micro USB.
[00:19:12] Compatible for your phone.
[00:19:14] Plug your Survive Drive bracelet right into your phone.
[00:19:17] Right into your iPhone.
[00:19:21] And you can have every important document you need on that thing.
[00:19:24] You can have every prepping podcast you want to listen to.
[00:19:27] Every audio book.
[00:19:28] You know, whatever the situation is.
[00:19:29] Every document.
[00:19:31] Every survival plan.
[00:19:33] Any amount of like written information.
[00:19:36] And it's just.
[00:19:37] I don't.
[00:19:38] It's one of those things.
[00:19:39] You know, you didn't really think about it.
[00:19:41] You had a thumb drive or whatever the situation is.
[00:19:46] But I dig it, man.
[00:19:47] I dig pre-made maps.
[00:19:49] You know, if you're going on like some kind of backwoods adventure.
[00:19:51] You could have all kinds of pre-made maps and stuff ready to go.
[00:19:56] It's just a really cool product.
[00:19:58] Like.
[00:19:59] I guess I could scroll.
[00:20:02] I could scroll a little for you.
[00:20:06] And we could really get into it.
[00:20:10] I don't know.
[00:20:11] I'll tell you this much.
[00:20:15] I can't do the revelation.
[00:20:18] News.
[00:20:19] Day in and day out.
[00:20:22] You know what I mean?
[00:20:24] Like, I'm just so over this.
[00:20:26] Like.
[00:20:26] I'm so over the.
[00:20:28] What's the headline today?
[00:20:30] What amazing thing?
[00:20:31] What am I supposed to get excited about?
[00:20:33] And.
[00:20:33] Oh my God.
[00:20:34] X locks out reporter.
[00:20:37] Holy.
[00:20:37] You won't believe what happened, folks.
[00:20:39] Trudeau knocked out.
[00:20:41] Unbelievable.
[00:20:42] Zuck up.
[00:20:43] Meta ends.
[00:20:44] Fact checking on Facebook.
[00:20:45] Insta in free speech pit.
[00:20:47] Watch.
[00:20:49] Does that mean I can.
[00:20:50] I can post guns on Instagram now?
[00:20:51] That actually is exciting.
[00:20:56] That actually is kind of.
[00:20:59] No, but you know what I mean?
[00:21:00] This this last.
[00:21:01] This.
[00:21:01] I don't know how this is going to sound.
[00:21:03] I'm just going to talk to you.
[00:21:04] Garden girl.
[00:21:05] What is up?
[00:21:06] Happy holidays.
[00:21:06] I hope the holidays were wonderful.
[00:21:11] I'm just going to tell you like.
[00:21:14] My true feelings on this thing to close out the show.
[00:21:19] The.
[00:21:20] The.
[00:21:21] Tesla bomber guy.
[00:21:23] Anti-gravity drone.
[00:21:26] China.
[00:21:27] Holding a mountain over top of the.
[00:21:29] White House and dropping it.
[00:21:33] That's my own addition.
[00:21:37] This revelation.
[00:21:38] And this guy might not even be the guy.
[00:21:41] And he might not be dead.
[00:21:42] And he.
[00:21:44] Like.
[00:21:45] All these revelations about corrupt government.
[00:21:47] And secrets that the government are keeping.
[00:21:51] It really.
[00:21:53] Is kind of boring.
[00:21:56] That's just the way I feel about it.
[00:21:58] It just feels kind of boring.
[00:22:00] To me.
[00:22:01] And you know why that is.
[00:22:02] Is because.
[00:22:03] I'm jaded by no punishment.
[00:22:06] That's why.
[00:22:08] I've been.
[00:22:08] I've become jaded.
[00:22:10] Because I feel like a revelation.
[00:22:12] Could come out tomorrow.
[00:22:14] That.
[00:22:15] Whatever.
[00:22:16] You know what I mean?
[00:22:16] What else could they say?
[00:22:18] They've already poisoned us.
[00:22:19] With a.
[00:22:21] Gain of function virus.
[00:22:23] Then they poisoned us with a vaccine.
[00:22:25] And they.
[00:22:25] Right.
[00:22:26] You know what I mean?
[00:22:26] Like.
[00:22:27] What.
[00:22:27] What the hell else.
[00:22:28] Could they do?
[00:22:30] And I ain't seen anybody.
[00:22:31] Hauled away into prison yet.
[00:22:33] You know what I mean?
[00:22:34] I see people sit there.
[00:22:35] And take tough questions.
[00:22:36] Oh.
[00:22:37] We're gonna.
[00:22:37] We're gonna.
[00:22:38] We're gonna.
[00:22:38] Pepper them with tough questions.
[00:22:40] So when I see these revelations.
[00:22:43] China got anti-gravity drones.
[00:22:45] It could do anything.
[00:22:46] And be anything.
[00:22:47] And be everywhere.
[00:22:48] And be anywhere.
[00:22:48] And do any.
[00:22:50] Hey.
[00:22:51] I don't know.
[00:22:52] What am I supposed to do?
[00:22:54] Oh no.
[00:22:56] You know what I mean?
[00:22:58] So the revelation stuff.
[00:23:00] Is just lost.
[00:23:01] Its muster for me.
[00:23:03] And in 2025.
[00:23:06] It's just gonna be different.
[00:23:08] You know what I mean?
[00:23:08] In terms of how much we focus on that kind of stuff.
[00:23:11] Particularly when I'm behind the microphone.
[00:23:12] Not to say that the other hosts won't talk about it.
[00:23:15] And power to them.
[00:23:16] You know.
[00:23:16] You go where your passion is.
[00:23:17] If you're passionate about it.
[00:23:18] That's great.
[00:23:20] But listen to me.
[00:23:21] I'm a hundred times more excited.
[00:23:26] About.
[00:23:29] The Warhammer releases in 2025.
[00:23:33] Than I am.
[00:23:34] About the mystery man.
[00:23:36] Who blew himself up in a car.
[00:23:38] And got shot in the head with a .50 caliber.
[00:23:40] And tested DNA.
[00:23:41] And we don't know if it's his.
[00:23:43] It's really his son or not.
[00:23:45] And we don't know if that's really was even him.
[00:23:47] And maybe he's disappeared somewhere.
[00:23:48] And fake.
[00:23:48] I mean listen.
[00:23:49] If I were that guy.
[00:23:50] I'd have faked my own death.
[00:23:51] I'll tell you that right now.
[00:23:52] And I'd have done it in a way that people would go.
[00:23:53] Oh he's dead.
[00:23:55] You know what I mean?
[00:23:55] Oh he's definitely dead.
[00:23:56] I seen it.
[00:23:58] But then you know.
[00:23:59] Then it stands.
[00:24:00] The next level of that thinking goes.
[00:24:02] Okay well if he faked his death.
[00:24:03] Who's the poor sap that was in the cyber truck.
[00:24:06] Who got burnt to a crisp.
[00:24:07] Right.
[00:24:09] So you know.
[00:24:11] It is what it is.
[00:24:14] It bait the hook with your heart.
[00:24:16] And you know.
[00:24:17] You know the old saying.
[00:24:18] Right.
[00:24:19] I'm a fisherman.
[00:24:20] So I always go by that.
[00:24:22] But we're going to get into a little more gear in 2025.
[00:24:25] We're going to get into.
[00:24:27] Some more cooking in 2025.
[00:24:30] A lot of preparedness.
[00:24:31] We had a bunch of things go wrong yesterday.
[00:24:34] We're still living through some water restrictions right now here in Richmond.
[00:24:39] And it's just one of those situations you know.
[00:24:41] It's like.
[00:24:42] This is life.
[00:24:43] This is what it is.
[00:24:45] We're prepared for it.
[00:24:46] That's where I want you to be.
