[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So let's go, we're going to have a look at the map.
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Coming at you from the frozen tundra that is East Central, Alberta, Canada,
[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_01]: streaming live on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Instagram, Rumble and
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Odyssey.
[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to the workshop where we create community fine freedom, promote
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_01]: preparedness and share success.
[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I am toolman Tim.
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Today is January the 18th, 20, 24.
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: This is episode 417 of workshop radio.
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: How are all my fellow delinquents out there?
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It is significantly warmer, almost 30 degrees warmer than it has been the last
[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: little while.
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It is quite nice.
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I let's open up with a rule to live by, put it into the randomizer and
[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I got rule number 11 this week and it is rule number 11.
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Fear never motivates long term.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Now where does that come from?
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, a lot of things.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But the big one for me has been all the folks that I have met over the years
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: that have come into prepping via an event.
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Whether it was last falls, you know, mass roll out of the emergency broadcast system,
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: whether it was somebody prepping for Y2K, whether it was the 2008 collapse.
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It is the same as somebody going on a diet because of a health scare.
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It can be a really, really good short term motivator.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Fear is great to get you going.
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But fear wears off.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: You need to come up with something way, way better than fear.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is your own well being the well being of your family.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: The love of your family, anything like that, a passion to learn something new, a passion
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_01]: to take care of yourself, all of those things.
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Because like I said, if you let fear drive you when you're getting into prepping,
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: eventually you're going to burn out and walk away because simply put that fear can't last forever.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We've we saw it in 2020, going forward.
[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And no matter how hard people try to push fear on you, eventually it wears off.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You just go numb to it and you just lose all interest in prepping.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So fear never motivates long term.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You always need to find a purpose.
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully that purpose is looking after yourself, your family, and all of your loved ones.
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So I hope you enjoy that.
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_01]: This evening, if anybody was trying to watch on rumble,
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I did a test.
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It did not work.
[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Just say, you know, rumble now has a new static stream stream key, whatever you want to call it.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: We had been using one that had manually input every single night.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a bit of a pain, but I was doing it.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: They said, hey, it's working.
[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, as soon as I went to go live tonight, it said,
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: man, not working.
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So if anybody was watching on rumble, I apologize.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Always trying to make things better.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But eventually once in a while, you're going to have some flub up.
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I see some new folks in here this evening where knives are life.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they are.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man, I was going to show you my neck knife, but it's upstairs because I just changed
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: into my new shirt.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Do not comply from special operations equipment.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: My good buddy John Willis, I appreciate him sending the moat to me.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And Jason Reed loved to see you.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Jason Reed, my first workshop live stream been listening for years, but it's awesome to
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_01]: join in real time.
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Hope the frozen pipe drama wasn't too hard on you.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: No, you know, I'd say I lost some hair, but there ain't no hair left up there to lose.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So now it wasn't too bad.
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's great to have you.
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Great to see all the folks in here this evening.
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So let's open up with this evening's precious metal report.
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess that's what we're going to call it.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Basically, I just kind of pull an article pertaining to precious metals.
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: If there's something pertinent out there this week, of course.
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And without you know, going into fear, mongering, you know, the ratcheting up tensions in the
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Middle East have caused people to look for a safe haven and what have we talked about for
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: precious metals, IE mostly gold and silver people look for a safe haven investment and they
[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: head right there.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And you'll see this one right here, guys, gold, see some safe haven demand as mid east tensions
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: heat up.
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, the first thing I'm going to tell you is when you see the price of precious metals go
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: up, don't run out and buy it.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: That's stupid because you must well buy it.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, if you absolutely feel like you need to buy some, go get it, but wait till
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: the price comes back down or at least wait till it levels out or do what we've been doing
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: the last few months kind of dollar cost averaging, figure out,
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: X amount of dollars you're going to spend each month on something like this, only if you can
[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: afford it and keep doing it.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So real quick, this article came from Kit Coe which is one of the the main people are the main
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: organizations that talk about precious metals.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That sort of thing, I said gold prices are higher, silver slightly up in mid day U.S.
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Some safe haven demand is featured in the yellow metal as risk aversion has
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_01]: ticked up lately.
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: This last week following more military action in the Middle East, absolutely.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_01]: There it is.
[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Geo political tensions in the Middle East ratchet it up another not just Pakistan,
[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: launched retaliatory air strikes inside Iran killing at least nine people.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So not to focus too long or too hard on the international tensions, but again precious metals,
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: the market just follows when shit gets hairy when stuff goes sideways a little bit.
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: People tend to look for, remember what we talked about last week, a safe haven investment.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And traditionally the most stable safe haven investments over the years are precious metals,
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: namely gold and silver.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Some people are getting into some other stuff but again, while this stuff happens, then
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: stay okay I'm not saying don't go in investment right now, but when shit like this is happening
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: around the world it tends to drive the price up.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So hold back because you'll find places where you can buy the dip if you need to.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Take a look at the comments here.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Hardway homestead Alaska says I mine gold only cost my labor.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Aww, that is awesome must be nice there you go.
[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: No that is awesome.
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I love here that that would be actually pretty cool.
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I knew a lawyer back home.
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I know of a Scotch who where I was born and he he where I ring and he had panforgold for many
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: many years and every piece of gold he ever found was attached to that ring.
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: These little nuggets and there wasn't much there but he spent many hours
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and many days doing it. I think it was a pretty neat because my area in Nova Scotia was not known for
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_01]: gold.
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Alright let's slide into the next segment of the week and that is stranger than fiction.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: This has been one of the biggest, I guess one of the things you guys have been the biggest fans of
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and this is probably the segment that inspired this week and prepping.
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I've really enjoyed putting them together and we are getting more views, more downloads and more
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_01]: on this week and prepping than any other show we do other than the occasional interview show.
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm excited thank you guys for the support.
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So earlier on you heard Jason say, I hope the frozen pipes didn't you know,
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't cause you hair to prematurely gray. Well that's not an issue but
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_01]: this is a cool article it's no calling in sick or waiting for a nice day.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: The grid has to perform on the worst of them.
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to talk more a little later on about the power scare we had here in Alberta over the weekend.
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: It was hairy. I mean we were prepared for it. Absolutely we were.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: But we had, yeah there was a grid alert issued. There was the threat of rolling block outs.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Whole bunch of things so anyway, no calling in sick for the Alberta grid. Yeah, no shit.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Things break at 36 degrees. This came from the bore BOE report. BOE report anyway.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a newspaper or a new center that talks about oil and gas and that sort of thing.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But it said things break at 36 degrees. The provincial grid operator issued an alert for people
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: to immediately limit their electrical use to essential needs only.
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Well I want to tell you something in the middle of winter and I'm sure
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: a christiks and knows this too but when it gets down to minus 46,
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: everything's an essential need. Staying alive is an essential need at that point
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and I could not imagine the absolute hubbub that would have happened if they
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: started instituting rolling block outs or brown outs in Alberta that evening. It would have,
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_01]: even one death would have been the end of everything. It would have been awful.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't imagine the threat was there. I wouldn't say scary for us, exhilarating perhaps.
[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Whenever you're kind of on the tip of something like that it's not like you love the fact
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that it happens but Becky and I started our planning. We started doing the conversation that we have
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and it was cool like I said, we'll chat a little more about it. But it says here everyone needs to
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_01]: understand the fundamental issue that was best described by Nesim to leave. I like this one via
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_01]: his turkey analogy. If you've never heard this turkey analogy it's pretty good.
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It says a turkey has 364 days of a very, very good life. Followed by one very bad day
[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_01]: come Thanksgiving. It's the bad day that matters, not the 364 good ones. A deadly day is a deadly
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: day. Interesting, hey? That's what it comes down to. The grid is there. It works great.
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Solar wind works great when the wind's blowing, when it's warm, when you don't necessarily need it
[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and that night when the sun was obviously behind the horizon it was beyond minus 30. That's
[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_01]: when they shut the wind mills down. They were not making a whole lot of power. Check this out.
[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: According to the provincial grid operator Alberta has just about 4,500 megawatts of wind
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: power capacity. At the peak of the last weekend's deep freeze it was producing. You ready for this?
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: One third of 1% of that total. And this point right here was probably the one that got me the most.
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Not just useless but worse than that. Useless when needed exactly the most. Now, again,
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't hate solar. You know my good friend is Sean Mills of hack my homestead and he's all about
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: solar. Solar, I have solar hooked up on my garage. I love it. It works great. You know wind has its place.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It works great over in Nova Scotia where I grew up. Works great here on the prairies when it's needed.
[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_01]: But it is not something that we can 100% rely on period and of story. It just can't be.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at this. I mean, it's easy for folks. I want to, I was just about to say it's easy for
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: folks to say that. 11 Texas but they dealt with it too. In the extremes on the far extreme, you know,
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: those one in a, you know, the one day that's a really bad day for the turkey that shit just doesn't fly.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Literally. It sucks. So we just, you know, here's, here's one of the, uh, one of the throwbacks
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that other people like to bring up. We just need more storage than wind and solar will be able to carry
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: the load. Not possible. Not if batteries are the vision. Imagine a days worth of battery power supply
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: for the entire province or two days. The cost would be off the charts. And then after two days of
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: usage, how would the batteries get recharged if the cold spell persisted? You know,
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_01]: you guys have seen me. I have defended electric vehicles in the past and I don't hate them. I still
[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: say they have their place and I 100% would still have a small electric vehicle. I know, back up,
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I would have before we bought the day care and Lloyd Minister, which now requires Becky to drive
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: an hour each way when all we were doing is putting around town with our second vehicle. I absolutely
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: would have loved it that one. But at this point wouldn't work for us or this one. This is probably
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: the scariest one. This is when I was sitting there that evening when the lights flick just a little
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: bit and I said, to Becky, um, the same kind of sediment here says we can switch to heat pumps.
[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy, this one takes the cake. Heat pumps will exacerbate the problem at the exact worst time.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: When it's coldest, when the power demands at its highest and when the grid is maxed out.
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's where it comes from folks. And it's not, it's not an either or scenario. It's just,
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: we can't throw the baby out with the bath water. We have to keep things like, you know,
[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: actually in Alberta right now we're looking at expanding into nuclear power. I don't have a problem
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: with that. We need to have something. We certainly can't do away with natural gas because all of this
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: other green energy just doesn't cut it, you know, on Saturday night at 9 o'clock at night when
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: it's minus 46 outside and none of its pipe and out. It's fine, you know, if you live near the
[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_01]: waiter or something like that, but for us, this was a scary scenario. Anywhere in Alberta was scary.
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_01]: John Wright on LinkedIn, this is an interesting story. He said currently at our cabin trying to
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: help out our heat pumps. We run three, three geothermal units that are running full out with
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: auxiliary supplemental heating coils engaged. For those who don't know, those are little kind of
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: electrical heating elements that run inside the ductwork that will heat up basically straight
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: on electrical power that are supposed to be able to supplement when heat pumps can't keep up.
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We have two propane fireplaces, burning full time in addition to all the firewood,
[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: that we are also splitting and burning. And all the burners, oh my god, I didn't even
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: catch that before, on the cooktop or on it's probably 12 degrees Celsius in here. So that's, you know,
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: 36. Everyone seems to ignore the fact that the heat pumps are a huge draw on the power grid.
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, that's where it comes down to when when it hit like I said, minus 46 was the coldest
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_01]: advantage since 1968. Not saying it's going to happen every year, but what does happen every year
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_01]: is a protracted spell of more than minus 30 just to put every year. Usually five to 10 days.
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And at that point, that's where it's life in death. That's where shit goes sideways really quick.
[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That's where at seven o'clock at night when you're outside with a plumber and you have to
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_01]: open up an access hatch. It opens right to the side of the house. You've got minutes, not hours before
[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: the pipe's freeze while they're sitting there. So it sucks.
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Chris Dixon in the comments here said I have a friend running geothermal in at 35 below
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: it flat out shut down and stop working. That sucks. Simple as that. I'm not saying these aren't
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: because you guys have heard me in the past say some of these things work and they work really well.
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But I guess the big point I made to Becky that evening when we were sitting around talking
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and I brought it up in the telegram group the next morning. If even 10% of Albertans had switched
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: in the last year or two to heat pumps, what the hell kind of scenario would we have been in
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that night? I wouldn't even want to know. It would be bad. You know on the East Coast for
[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: a moment at live, they pretty much have gone strictly to the heat pumps. Now the problem is
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: with the power goes out you need to have backup power but other than that they tend to work
[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_01]: out there because it never gets cold enough that they don't. Everybody just likes to forget about
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: the prairies and the north where the shit just can't fly the way they want it to. So
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: there you are. Redmuse Farm, great to see you this evening. Showed out said hello to all you
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: about that Rachel. Here's a good article for you guys. This one's a little fun here. I think
[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_01]: is it the right word? It odd anyway this is something that art bell would have probably like
[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and I don't know if anybody else has heard about it and if you have, show it in the comments there
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_01]: but reports of cryptic notes pouring in from around PA. So Josh Sloan he's been on the show before
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: PA prep or if you've heard this I'd like to take your thoughts on it but people have been finding
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: mystery notes sealed inside the packaging of cereal and other food stuff. Now I'm not
[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_01]: exactly sure if they're inside the bag or if they're just sealed inside the box but somehow people
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_01]: are getting access to it and leaving really weird twisted notes. The I team first reported this
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: article comes from PA homepage the I team news said the I team first report at concerns Tuesday
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: over a note found in the box of cereal in Luser and County. Since our first reports aired the
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I team was received several emails and calls from viewers across Napa. Napa all's telling similar
[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_01]: stories about finding cryptic notes inside various packaged foods. Where do you knew that pre-packed
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_01]: foods weren't healthy for you but this doesn't help matters a whole lot now does it. So somebody somewhere
[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: who's a bit off the rocker is writing these conspiracy notes sealing them up and then putting
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: them inside. This kind of reminds me of the Tylenol murder's way back when I just told
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: it doesn't get that bad. This guy here says it just bothers me the note really. It's the note
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_01]: that bothers me. These notes are found inside of food like kids food, Joe Miller said,
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Joe Miller from Sugarlove Township showed the I team on Tuesday what he found inside the box
[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_01]: of a sealed Lucky Charms Smore cereal that he bought from a grocery store again in Luser and County.
[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can't really see the article they board a bunch of it out because it's just a bunch
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: of crazy non-sensey stuff but uh so glad to see our report about strange notes I found one several
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: months ago and just last month in Lint Dark Chocolate. There are purchased from different retailers
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: tried to research but came up with nothing and then somebody sarcastically said this ought to add a
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: few more layers to all the secure packaging. Somebody else found some in Chi-T so they're finding
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: these notes in Chi-T, Lint Chocolate, Lucky Charms all across the board. So I'm going to make a
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: store opening up the packaging and figuring out a way to reseal it and then putting the notes in there.
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: This definitely somebody who's slightly off their mental rocker I'm going to gas you'll see here.
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So these notes contain certain words like terror riots, JFK warned of SS in Lord of the Rings
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: as well as words connected to a bunch of conspiracy theories. Of course congressman Dan
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Mouser says he's looking for answers. We're definitely going to stay on top of this. If it's
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_01]: constituents which it clearly is it's concerning to us. So yeah I forgot Rachel Browns in PA. So
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: there you go. I don't really know how much further to go with this other than um it's all odd.
[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I like these stories I don't know why they jump up and grab me but I always like and I kind of
[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: enjoy sharing them with people. Hardway homestead said slave labor trying to escape you probably
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: but this is this reminds me of like serial killer letters you know like some of the stuff that
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: the zodiac killer used to kick out or just you know that one kid that would sit in high school
[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: junior high with his head down in the cafeteria and everybody asking much wrong and nobody would ever
[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: look at him and he would just sit there and scribble in a note pad. Yeah that was kind of notes.
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_01]: There's something not right about this it'll be interesting to see where the story comes from
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: where the story ends up because I hadn't heard anything like this in a long time. All right
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: first announcement of the evening folks I decided to throw him up on the screen here but my good buddy
[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Joel Riles of Fortress K9 he took a big chance on us two years ago and said hey I want to be
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_01]: your sponsor what's it gonna cost and I give him an exorbitant not no I'm just kidding give him a
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_01]: good deal and he re-up last year and that makes me happy so give him some support we talked about it
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_01]: on Sunday night when Jordan was on her podcast was called Phoenix Rising and Joel is definitely
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_01]: a Phoenix Rising as well. He came back around after basically losing everything that mattered to him
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: in life other than his kids but you know get a divorce lost his business went to jail for a little while
[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_01]: came back better than ever and the dude is kicking ass taken names and he'll tell you just the
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: way it is so give him some support guys follow him on all the podcast places and all the social media
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: places. All right so next this one was good cookbook of the collapse you know I've been talking about this
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: for a while but a couple of reasons I'm doing this segment and the main one is because uh it gives me
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a good thought experiment on how we would use our preps and of course I've been going balls
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_01]: of them all freeze drying meat which is going to give me a ton of 20 25 year shelf stable protein which
[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I love. Now this week Mrs Cook on the weekend actually decided to do some cooking which was cool
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean she has been busy she did not have to do it but she made one of our favorites here in the house
[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_01]: called hamburger soup yeah I know pretty simple but it is scrumptious so you just fry a hamburger
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_01]: loosen the frying pan put it into a big pot you're going to add salt pepper beef base lots of beef
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: base that tends to be what gives it a lot of its flavor. Now the next is depending on what you
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: have on hand but either tomatoes or ketchup us as a family tend to prefer ketchup that gives
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_01]: it kind of that sweet but tangy tomato we taste corn potatoes carrots peas and that's it and you just
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: simmer it it's best cooked on a wood stove but it's been many years since we've done any cooking
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_01]: uh in a wood cook stove I do have a wood stove in my garage now but yes Rachel so um Rachel
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Brown just says I need to give you my corn bread recipe yes please do send it to me so here's the
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: thing guys the cookbook of the claps is going to be an actual cookbook once we hit 100 recipes
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to put them all together and we're going to have a workshop delinquent cookbook
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: oh boy and it's going to be nice but so far it's only been me putting the recipes out there which I don't
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_01]: mind but anybody who has recipes that uh really wants to share with a community send them to me
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: the real Tim Cook at gmail.com not the fake one that runs Apple computers but the real
[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Tim Cook at gmail.com so yeah Rachel send me a corn bread recipe I'd love it garden girl says one of
[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_01]: her favorite soups yes it is anything Becky makes is awesome but it I don't think I'd ever had
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: her soup before I met Becky and she she actually had a little corn starch to at this time but if you
[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_01]: let it simmer for a while you wanted to almost be the consistency of a stew more than a soup and my
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: daughter's in here this evening love to see her she says but she makes the best wings yeah give you
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that you do make pretty damn good wings she learned for me of course but you know how it is
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: alright next segment folks is workshop wasteland and we actually got quite a bit this week so let
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_01]: me bring this up here workshop wasteland is where we take a look at postpock elliptic and dystopian
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: fiction movies video games TV shows the whole works stuff that we all seem to enjoy you know we all
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_01]: need an escape and for me my second twisted mind really likes to go into you know prep or porn
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: or this kind of stuff and so let's dive in and I will share with you what I found this week
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_01]: this one is cool I'm going to mark this I can't actually mark it on the screen cautiously optimistic
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_01]: now if anybody out there knows me or christiks and for that matter we both have audible
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_01]: addictions we probably spend a small fortune on our audible credits every year but it certainly
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_01]: helps make the day go audible is putting out an it's own adaptation of 1984
[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_01]: this is from giant freaking robot.com and it says 1984 adaptation gets unbelievable
[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: cletcast including both Tom Hardy and our Andrew Garfield both great actors I would say
[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_01]: audible stepping up its audiobook game with the re release of George Orwell's classic this
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_01]: topian drama 1984 the new audio only drama has cast the voices of some of Hollywood's most elite
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_01]: including Tom Hardy Andrew Garfield and a lady named Cynthia earvo that I don't know who she is
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_01]: the audio recording will be released this is kind of cool I like this on April 4th exactly
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: 40 years after the book opens with wine steins wine stins first diary entry so I like that there
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: paying attention to the fans they're doing it a service they went let's let's carry on
[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: there's one thing here toward the end that I'm not super keen on but if you don't know there's
[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Tom Hardy I would say one of the best actors of our generation definitely he played bane in the Batman
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_01]: dark night trilogy he also was the main character in the last mad max movie great actor
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Andrew Garfield there he is there he is he played super sorry spider man for a couple years
[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and he's I think he's a bit of an underrated actor he's done a lot of off the wall kind of
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: movies and he's got some critical claim for it audible's 1984 adaptation has received official
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: authorization and endorsement from the Orwell estate Richard Blair Georgia Orwell son don't get too excited
[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: because the the Amazon Lord of the Rings adaptation also gets blessing from the estate of our
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: J.R.R. Tolkien so just because you have the families as blessing does not mean it does not make a good
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: adaptation just because you give Stephen King a boatload of money and say hey we're going to adapt
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_01]: the dark tower can you tweet about it and say how good it is does not mean it's going to be good
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: so just say you know directed by baffed a win winner destiny known for her work on Ted Lasson
[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_01]: end of the fucking world and written by Joe White the audible adaptation here here's where I get
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: slightly nervous folks the audible adaptation here that word adaptation remains faithful
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_01]: to Orwell's original text the creators aim and this is these two words here that
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: aim to delve deeper into the horror of the dystopian setting of 1984 while exploring the
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: profound love story between Winston and Julia in a world where such emotions are strictly forbidden
[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that right there just okay I'm gonna I'm gonna read it I'm gonna listen to it 100% I will
[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you an honest an honest an open opinion on it when I'm done I'll probably even do
[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: a video on my other channel that nobody knows about and I will um I'll let you know but I'm quite nervous
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_01]: when they attempt to do a modern reinterpretation of a story now you could end up with the mid 90s
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Romeo and Juliet which was great or you could end up with last week's Mean Girls which apparently
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: was not so anyway I just when when you have these these type of stories that are so divisive to
[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: begin with and they're so politically split I just can't see this coming out very well
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll see 100% I'll let you know all right let's take a look what are we getting the comments from
[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the the link when's this evening but we got to bf said I just made hamburger soup for dinner tonight
[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I love it and Dixon says I'd never read anything that wasn't for audible. I have came to the
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: point in my life where I really struggle to read anything physical on paper and I know that's bad
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I probably should try to force myself to but my old brain starts doing dances and you hear that
[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: in my head because I just can't concentrate on the written word but audio man I download that like
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: nobody's business so I don't get it. Haas says I just signed up with Spotify that has
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: audible on it interesting I've heard a bit about that I don't know if it was you haas but somebody in
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_01]: the uh in the book club that we have we have another telegram group there said that they're limited
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_01]: on how many credits you could use and there was no way to buy new ones so I'm not sure but anyway
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_01]: so we got three three pieces of news in the workshop wasteland this evening first was 1984
[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the second one will just brush over for anybody who plays video games the last of us two
[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_01]: you know you know how they like to remaster movies make them better remaster video games well that's
[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_01]: fine here's the deal guys it hasn't even been four years since the last of us two came out
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and they already released a remaster on it now could be fair the creators are offering an upgrade
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: for most people at 10 bucks so that's not bad if you already own it for 10 bucks I believe you can
[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_01]: upgrade but I don't know like I said I don't have a whole lot of time video games I kind of
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_01]: wish I did actually and I'm not judging anybody who does and I just the last of us I love the
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: last of us one I'd yet to play the last of us two but the fact that they're putting out a remake of it
[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: sorry remaster of it less than four years later I don't know now there is some
[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_01]: lost levels that weren't in the first game or the first edition they say they don't add a lot
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: to the story but they just add to the gameplay so if you didn't know it there's a remaster coming
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: out of it hasn't been released yet I guess the big thing that a lot of people ended up talking about
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_01]: was the last of us two came out right at the beginning of the pandemic right here last of us two this is from
[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_01]: coat coatikoo dot com yeah I'm so bad at that the last of us part two came out at the worst possible
[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_01]: time in June 2020 pandemic was steadily becoming more terrifying New York was under a curfew and almost
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: everything was closed or boarded up the author here says but for better or for worse it can be
[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: hard to separate a game from the headspace in which you first played it like many people who love
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: games I often come to them for comfort and distraction and I think that is what they're trying to do
[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the game despite being a massive hit ended up being in a rough situation because
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: it maybe couldn't have been enjoyed like it should have been due to its subject matter and
[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that kind of shit so they're re-releasing it fairly shortly afterwards to maybe try to get another
[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_01]: bump and of course why not to play off of the recent success of the TV show right absolutely
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: all right and the third one is actually the one that I'm the most excited about again
[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: color me cautiously apt and optimistic but here we go you ready for this something that was only
[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: a funny rumor on Reddit for a long time here it is Danny Boyle and Alex Garland
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: teaming up for a sequel to the resombe hit 28 days later definitely my favorite zombie movie of all
[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: by far one of my favorite horror movies of all time and one of my favorite films of all time
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: 28 days later they are going to make a sequel and they're shopping it around right now I'll
[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_01]: fill you in here in just a moment but for those who don't know Danny Boyle was the original director
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I believe I want to make sure I get that right yes Danny Boyle directed train spotting
[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: slum dog millionaire and of course 28 days later and 28 days later is one of the first films
[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it was filmed on digital that's why it had such a grainy look you're never going to get a
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: blue right upgrade per se because it was filmed on digital aid or some kind of Sony digital so
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: it added to the grainyness but that's all that exists Alex Garland he has he's actually got that
[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: new film coming out called Civil War in April he's made some really good films one on AI
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of a couple other ones but anyway so they're teaming back up they're writing they're directing
[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: they're producing they're not just executive producing so I'm excited slightly so let's just
[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: fill you in quick it's just over two decades after releasing the modern classic is getting a new sequel
[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Boyle and Garland the director and writer of the O2 movie are reuniting for 28 years later
[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_01]: but it gets better folks a news on be thriller that is expected to hit studio streamers and other
[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: tensile buyers later this week now I read that and I thought they made the movie already no no what
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_01]: that means there is they have a premise they have a script or at least a treatment written
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're going around shopping at the studio seeing who will pay big bucks for it and somebody
[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: will but the best part here it is the package isn't just a simple modern sequel installment the
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: movie already had one in 07 the do were only involved as executive producers however this time
[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_01]: they're hoping to launch a new trilogy all right you can't go wrong with zombie films
[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never had you know hard to go wrong with a Danny Boyle or an Alex Garland film so cautiously
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_01]: optimistic you know we're probably two years away from getting the first film but they're going to
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_01]: shop it as a see her as a trilogy holy shit I'm excited fanboy out there you go so that is
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: workshop wasteland this week I want to read pop back over to the delinquents comments here what
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: we got from the community christiks and says I tried to dedicate 30 minutes a day to a physical
[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_01]: read it's tough to do my brain just won't let me but yeah not a bad thing at all maybe I should
[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_01]: try to force myself a bit more Jason Reed says the only reading I get done is reading all
[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_01]: reading my four year old the bearers staying bears not bears being bears being bears staying yeah
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_01]: solid timeless life lessons of course I love the bearers staying bears read them to all
[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_01]: my kids when they were younger and yeah they do they get great life lessons in there one step closer
[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_01]: says Ellie smash if you haven't played or watched you know anyway I don't want to spoil it for
[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_01]: the last of us look leave it there pauses I read a few times a year using a fire tablet candle
[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I can highlight and take notes right in the app on the book not bad and silver streak 232
[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_01]: great to see in here love seeing I know I'm pretty sure I've seen the in here before but I like
[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_01]: seeing names that I don't see all the time is great to have yet all right now next as you know
[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_01]: we have our roving reporter miss Willow and she has become for at least the foreseeable future
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: she's going to be putting together a segment called the sunshine news she has a channel called
[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_01]: sunshine prepper make sure that you get over and give her subscribe but I kind of like this this is
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: like my own little personal expert council I like anyway I love the fact that she kind of
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: volunteered to do this and I said hey if you want to come on I'll give you a you know a five to seven
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: minute segment once a week and I'll play it and here it is she got it to me again this morning so
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: let's listen in on what Willow has to say two days I mean one second here guys
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_00]: hello and welcome to today's sunshine prepper news I will have the sunshine prepper here to spread
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_00]: a bit of positivity on the unavoidable doob and gloom please join me for a big deep breath and a nice
[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_00]: long side before we get into today's topic okay I need one more all right so this wants a bit of
[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_00]: cheesy but it weighs on my heart so let's get it out in the open so that we can breathe about it together
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and do those of you who already know about this you're not one and a million thank god but
[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_00]: you're probably closer to one in 50,000 maybe hopefully more like one in 10,000 of people
[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_00]: that are aware of what is happening in their wallet. In short the US dollar is losing its status
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: as the world reserve crazy. Sadie so let's do regardless of how you feel about this one it's
[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_00]: definitely on the way probably sooner than we'd hope but not so fast that you don't have time to
[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_00]: prepare since I'm sure you've noticed inflation did you know that since the dollar's creation
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_00]: it has lost 97% of its value today's dollar is worth three pennies compared to what it used to buy
[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_00]: great crook shins but what I really want to get into today is not the how and why our currency is
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_00]: failing but on how the brix alliance is speeding us closer to this catastrophe it won't be an
[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_00]: SHTF scenario for everyone in the world but for the G7 and definitely in the United States
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_00]: it is going to be an SHTF for you and me just like how you are the most impacted by losing your job
[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Americans are going to be the ones most impacted by our currency losing status of world reserve currency
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_00]: brix brix brix which is now brix plus this economic alliance has also been called the brix block
[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_00]: or the southern block but is a bazaar be called the majority block as it now makes up 30%
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: of land mass about 45% of global population and no less than 32% of the world's GDP compared
[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_00]: to 30% held by the G7 countries brix stands for Brazil Russia India China and South Africa
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and the plus as of January 1st this year is for Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates
[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Saudi Arabia has been invited but not yet officially joined as per the representative attending
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Davos right now and brix is still growing there's already 15 countries that have formally applied
[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_00]: for membership including Nigeria, Algeria, Bolivia, Pakistan and more and there's 17 other countries
[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_00]: that have expressed interest in joining the alliance okay so it's an economical alliance it's big
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's getting bigger but what should really concern you is their dedication and conviction to
[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_00]: de-dollarization they want to stop settling trade in dollars they are adamant on ditching our
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_00]: currency and I honestly don't blame them the United States is sitting in 34 trillion dollars of debt
[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_00]: much of which was effectively printed out of thin air and the only thing slowing all these
[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_00]: dollars down from coming home to roost is that a lot of trade still relies on being settled in dollars
[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the days of artificial demand for dollars that was created by other countries
[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_00]: having to use them to buy oil are quickly coming to an end and now many of the largest producers
[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_00]: of crude oil aka energy are pretty excited to start selling that oil in anything other than dollars
[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: when that happens the horrible inflation we've experienced the last four years is going to be
[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_00]: laughable in comparison it's really going to be a mess but did you know that on top of that
[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_00]: bricks has created the new development bank as an alternative to the world bank and the international
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_00]: monetary fund and they're alternative to the swift system known as bricks pay is already facilitating
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_00]: transactions in local currencies instead of in dollars that does it need a deep breath in a
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_00]: sigh I don't know what does so how can we make the most of this kakakakrappy patty well the first
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: overlining is that you still have time to diversify from just dollars to protect your purchasing
[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_00]: power beans and rice they're pretty nice a silver dime seems mighty fine buying gold is really
[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_00]: bold but for real holding the things of value that your dollars are otherwise just a claim on will
[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_00]: put you in a better position food will always be your friend non perishable consumables are also
[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_00]: always good to keep around things like aluminum foil so trash bags and don't forget to get
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_00]: some high quality tools win quick past that I always recommend you own some silver don't tell
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: everything that you have to buy it but only 15% of americans own some and it's an easy way to be a
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_00]: little bit ahead of this game of currency failure happily and then if you have a few more coins
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: in the average bear you can start to position yourself to come out ahead on the other side with
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to need high integrity good people with good morals and purchasing power
[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_00]: to buy up the land so that the overload class doesn't take it all when everything fails
[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_00]: so now that you know that winter is coming to a wallets near you be intentional with the time
[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_00]: that you have to prepare and go take some action wishing you and your family the best as we charge
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: into a challenging future by doing today that what you can for your family's future wellness
[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I know who will get through it I'll see you next week the sunshine prep around
[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_01]: well I gotta say guys for Willow doing this only on her second round she can really really
[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_01]: good with this I'm actually quite impressed she's kicking butt and taking names so make sure
[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_01]: you give her a follow but I really appreciate getting to sit back and watch my own show for five or six
[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_01]: minutes every Thursday night it's actually quite neat but beyond that I like that she's a very
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_01]: intelligent lady who takes deep dives into some of these rather boring conversations or rather
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_01]: boring topics that could mean significant things to us down the road and she comes at it from
[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_01]: a solution based premise and I like that a lot so you know six minutes on the brick system
[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_01]: who would have thought and to come out the other side and have a smile on your face she's great at
[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that so here's something else guys I'm not saying that I'm going to open it up to other people but
[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_01]: what I am saying is that if anybody has an idea for an ongoing segment that you think would fit into
[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_01]: this week in prepping let me know I'm definitely open to the idea not saying we're going to yet
[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: but I'm definitely open to proposition so there you go all right next what do we have for you
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_01]: we have the side hustle spotlight this is one of my favorite because as you guys know
[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_01]: this is where we started and I got questions earlier tonight Tim why is there bacon on
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: your thumbnail well let me tell you I'm going to talk to you but it just this evening
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: all right owner of sunrise diner in ocean city create soap out of leftover grease now
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_01]: we're not talking like fight club or anything like that but this isn't necessarily I mean this
[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_01]: is a side hustle you could do this is just somebody looking at their existing business looking
[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_01]: at a product that typically went away whether it went in the garbage or somebody came along and
[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: it recycle themselves the home the owner of the business said oh I got an idea let's turn bacon
[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_01]: grease into box so this was WMAR2 news dot com and this was an ocean city ocean city Maryland
[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_01]: at sunrise diner in ocean city owner Sam is serving up more than pancakes eggs and French toast
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_01]: last year he started making bars of soap using leftover grease from his restaurant
[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_01]: he said he wanted to find an alternative source of revenue as inflation and rising costs were
[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_01]: eating into his business exactly again looks at a problem comes up with a solution I like it
[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_01]: using a recipe and this is probably my favorite part a recipe from his great grandmother Sam
[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_01]: filters the large several times before adding in sense and letting the mixture set he then cuts it
[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_01]: bars and sells them on his website bumble soap watch the video above to see his interview on
[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_01]: good morning Maryland about a soap making business and the benefits of bathing with large soap I
[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_01]: loved it I thought it was a what a cute little feel good story Alice and Charlotte the year we
[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_01]: are home schooling there when COVID really kicked off we made a whole batch of bacon fat or large
[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_01]: soap as well in it turned out great I we definitely needed to add more essential oils than we
[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_01]: planned but other than that it was great but the reason I shared this story this evening and
[00:45:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I was just on thriving the future podcast the other night and loved being interviewed that show
[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_01]: should be out in the next few days on his YouTube channel however what ends up happening invariably
[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_01]: whenever I get asked on a podcast and get asked to share my thoughts on just to put anything
[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_01]: at some point we eventually go down the rabbit hole of entrepreneurship because in my mind there is no
[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_01]: better way for self reliance and independence and this right here this is what I love he looks at
[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_01]: that he's like shit I got all this grease it's going wherever let's turn it into a way to make money
[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's his money his business he gets decide what gets better what gets worse and what he doesn't do
[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_01]: something with how much better is that than working for the man or some other yeah who right anyway
[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_01]: want to welcome the B man Jay in here he speaking of you know turning things into other things
[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_01]: he is an expert at lots of different side hustles including many different be-related products but it's
[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_01]: great to see and hear brother all right so that was the side hustle spotlight and I wanted
[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_01]: to show you guys something this evening so my next announcement for this evening is something I just
[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_01]: officially launched today and that is the Patreon so some people said you know we're not into patches
[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_01]: or we are into patches whatever but we want a different way to support the workshop and the crazy
[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_01]: shit that you do I know crazy shit whatever why do people say that about me but anyway so I launch
[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_01]: to Patreon but not just hey give me five bucks and I'll be happy a place where you can get some
[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_01]: pretty cool exclusive content so I wasn't going to launch it until I made sure I had this
[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_01]: one's content up there so I wanted to show you what's up so we did a christix and said yeah you finally
[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_01]: did a great job thank you brother so what is up there right now every month you're going to get
[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_01]: an exclusive in-person interview with one of the big names in the preparedness field this month it
[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_01]: just happens to be Joel Saladin so there's a 23 minute interview with him there is also let me go
[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_01]: a little further down here a commentary on that just simply because I'm weird and I like that kind
[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_01]: of stuff I always like the old DVD commentaries so I recorded over top the interview my thoughts
[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_01]: of the event we went to where we were at at that time how things came together all of that so
[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I hope you like that as well I actually haven't made this live anywhere except just on social today
[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but I had five members signed up before even today so it was great we're also posting I'm going
[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to put all of my YouTube videos going forward up here add free so if you get in tired of watching
[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_01]: you can watch my mary video here you can watch my latest cold weather generator starting
[00:48:22] [SPEAKER_01]: ad-free and here's the other exclusive series that else and I just filmed yesterday
[00:48:27] [SPEAKER_01]: called outside the box and if you're wondering what the hell it is while it's kind of fun
[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_01]: but we go to different grocery stores or different places that we wouldn't normally go
[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and we pick up you know proteins, fats whatever we can find that might just be a good prep
[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_01]: something you'd never thought of before and then we put them all in a bag and Alice pulled
[00:48:48] [SPEAKER_01]: three of them out this time and we tried sweetened red beans roasted, spiced eel and maple
[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_01]: flavored spam so if you want to see which one made me gag and which one I really enjoyed you can
[00:48:59] [SPEAKER_01]: check it over there so anyway enough of the self promotion for this evening but that was
[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_01]: that is the patreon so if you're looking to sign up links pinned here or it's patreon.com slash
[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Tim's Workshop. All right one of my favorite names are one of my favorite segments to read the
[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_01]: title of is I read it on the internet it's just a damn perfect I can't take credit for it
[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Brian Alexa which came up with it but it's great and I've told you before but if you don't
[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're not on Reddit that's okay they're their own weird community over there folks but
[00:49:31] [SPEAKER_01]: there is quite the treasure trove of the information the prepping group is really good they definitely
[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_01]: skewed toward practical prepping which is my type of people but almost to the point where they
[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_01]: they look down their nose and anybody who might think anything weird's going on in the world it's
[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of an odd group but if you can overlook that kind of stuff there's some really cool things in
[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_01]: there so I picked my top story it actually ended up being two this week on our preppers
[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and this one is a real life emergency I always want to give credit where credits do and this is from a
[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_01]: user called disastrous aspect I like that name it's pretty cool real life emergency first off
[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm well aware of the irony in this post he doesn't actually touch on the irony in this but there's
[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_01]: an update after last night it was on the way to a meeting crossing rural roads in near zero
[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Fahrenheit weather I found a car on it side in the ditch I stopped I grabbed one of the flashlights I
[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_01]: keep in my car looked around and I didn't see anyone it didn't see any blood just footprints in
[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_01]: snow to the road I put all the stuff away and I went on my way maybe a mile or two down the road
[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I noticed a dark shape dark shape in the side of the road I stopped I backed up to see what was
[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I what it was because of the car in the ditch of course put my headlights on and boom it was a man
[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_01]: he was passed out drunk oh got him in my car out of his wet clothes a blanket around him some
[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_01]: bandages on him all from my kit in my car I got him to the hospital he has a chance to live
[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_01]: because I took my first aid class at work I had basic supplies ready to go on my car this is just a
[00:51:11] [SPEAKER_01]: note to be prepared for things that are less than the end of the world and I like these stories
[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I like hearing these stories I like getting stories like this in my email but this is pretty cool
[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_01]: this is one of those where guess what my everyday stupid simple little preps paid off
[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and this dude ended up saving somebody's life so he actually gives an update um I guess it was
[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_01]: a three days later real life emergency update a few days ago while I had the opportunity to help
[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_01]: someone I found him drunk alongside the road wet in sub zero degrees Fahrenheit weather
[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Jeff we will call him lost the leg and his ears to frostbite he was in no way this is the weird
[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_01]: part no way linked to the car that I saw on the ditch but he's still in the hospital he's in stable
[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_01]: condition he says he knew me growing up and remembers part of our ride Jeff had been out ice fishing
[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_01]: when he got drunk he fell through the ice and his then his ride showed up his ride left after he
[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't show up Jeff was walking toward a farmhouse that was probably 10 miles away from the lake
[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_01]: the driver in the car and the ditch has been charged with the DIY amongst other things
[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_01]: also the irony of the story was I was on my way to an AA meeting today was day one thousand in one
[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm absolutely loving life I forgot I had this story on your guys and I'm like you know
[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_01]: that I'm out there to encourage each and every one of you and I had someone reach out to me today
[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_01]: about something similar to this and yeah just let you know that I'm always there for anybody that
[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I can help okay simple as that that's all I'm gonna say about that but this person here on top
[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_01]: of prepping and looking after themselves day one thousand in one that's nothing to shake a freaking
[00:52:52] [SPEAKER_01]: stick at and if anybody's out there suffer and from any of that kind of stuff you can do it too
[00:52:57] [SPEAKER_01]: you know if my old fat ass can go out and run 20 minutes yesterday non stop without you know
[00:53:03] [SPEAKER_01]: basically three kilometers then you know I guess hell did freeze over but it works let's get
[00:53:09] [SPEAKER_01]: her done but I like hearing this story this is really neat every day practical preps that paid off
[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_01]: that saved a guy's life even though he lost his ears in his leg kind of sounds like my poor cat
[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Maui but anyway good for him and Christics and says the folks on Reddit are gatekeepers for sure
[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_01]: they absolutely are you need to say your words in the right way you need to hold your tongue the right
[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_01]: way so it's not really worth promoting you can't really promote anything excuse me on Reddit
[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_01]: but it is a great great place to learn all right so next is this week in the workshop
[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and I've got some good ones for you here excuse me folks don't know what happened there but
[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_01]: anyway I'm back all right this week in the workshop and that is where I update you on the goings on
[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_01]: in our business the goings on in our preps at least what I share and hopefully motivate you guys to do
[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_01]: some stuff too and hopefully be honest about my feelings and you guys can give me a verbal kick
[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_01]: to the ass when I need them but first thing this week of course was the power issue in Alberta
[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_01]: the cold the cold the cold that's all anybody talked about and as soon as it warmed up here the wind picked up
[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_01]: so it kind of offset any of the negating factors of the warmth
[00:54:30] [SPEAKER_01]: it was a mess we survived we saw the you know the craziest temperatures in half its entry
[00:54:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I had I believe it was seven calls altogether I had two busted pipes two frozen pipes
[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I furnace that wasn't working sorry two furnaces now I forgot about that one
[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and I know there was another one in there but I can't remember what it was anyway so there you go
[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I survived we all survived I don't know anybody who has harmed or maimed or anything in this
[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_01]: cold but it sucked on kebals let's move on now I want to tell you something guys
[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_01]: but coming right up before next Thursday so before next Thursday's this week in prepping
[00:55:12] [SPEAKER_01]: we I'm celebrating two pretty cool anniversaries and I am quite excited about both of them
[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I am a big fan you guys know I love to talk about milestones in anniversaries and it's great
[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_01]: to look back on when where you've been where you've come from and share your story a bit
[00:55:30] [SPEAKER_01]: so I want to show you this one first let me bring this up while we're while I get you on here
[00:55:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and this is so I don't know if you guys see this this is my very first all seasons maintenance logo
[00:55:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and if you look back here this is living free in tenancies website Nicole's this was episode 259
[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_01]: start your handyman business with Tim Cook today is Friday so we have an interview show with
[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Tim Cook all about how to start your handyman business with what you have rather than waiting
[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_01]: until you can afford the next great tool so here's the date it's really tiny to see that
[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_01]: fine fine prints is January 24th 2020 that day is the day that I officially launched this YouTube
[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_01]: channel so in January 24th this year it'll be four years since I put up my very first two videos
[00:56:21] [SPEAKER_01]: in the growing your handyman or becoming a handyman with little or no money business series
[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_01]: that eventually morphed into whatever this monstrosity is today so January 24th not for those
[00:56:35] [SPEAKER_01]: who haven't heard this story before I was actually originally supposed to go on the show in November
[00:56:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I had no plans of launching any content at the time and the night before I was supposed to
[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_01]: go on Nicole's podcast I sent her an email some bullshit I don't know I'm not feeling good somebody's
[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_01]: not feeling good really I just pussy to I got cold feet into sight of that wasn't going to go
[00:56:56] [SPEAKER_01]: the podcast like really you Tim the dude who gets up at self alliance festival makes a full of
[00:57:02] [SPEAKER_01]: himself yeah so I you know I check and out I didn't go on and about a month later she reached back
[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_01]: out to me she's like all right you're coming on and so I did and the rest as they say is history
[00:57:13] [SPEAKER_01]: so four years ago in January 24th this incredible community that didn't exist was launched
[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I spoke it into existence I continued to talk about all these crazy friggin delinquents who weren't
[00:57:24] [SPEAKER_01]: out there yet and here we are four years later on a less than stellar Thursday evening
[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_01]: chatting about the happenings in the prepper world so there's that now in my mind
[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_01]: in much more significant anniversary is tomorrow and this is crazy how fast this came guys
[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and for any of those out there who are young and they're like my god you know
[00:57:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got all these years ahead to be sure you do but here's the thing a decade can fly by in an instant
[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_01]: this morning I had a memory on Facebook it was a piece of paper a bowling score card and always
[00:58:00] [SPEAKER_01]: remember Charlotte she was three and a half at the time she rolled a spare in candle pin bowling
[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_01]: if you don't know what candle pin is look at opera table to another time however that evening we went home
[00:58:12] [SPEAKER_01]: went bed and the very next morning January 19th Becky and I got up at three o'clock in the morning
[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_01]: drove into snow storm to Halifax I hopped on a plane and I flew to Alberta I left my family
[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_01]: behind for about five months I had no money in my wallet and I had to borrow half of the plane
[00:58:30] [SPEAKER_01]: fair to get out there however ten years later you guys know the rest of the story sometimes
[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you got a burn bridges sometimes you got to fly 5,000 kilometers across the country
[00:58:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and shit still goes sideways on you so it doesn't mean it's going to be all you know sunshine
[00:58:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and roses but tomorrow is the 10 year anniversary of that day holy shit in my ever glad we did it
[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_01]: where we ever scared shitless for quite a few years afterwards yes we were but here we are so
[00:58:59] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're ever wondering is it worth taking big chances it sure is because you don't want to sit back
[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and still be thinking 10 years later you know if it just got on that plane maybe don't live
[00:59:10] [SPEAKER_01]: in regrets just do it there you go I we had a great episode last week the Atlas shrug book club
[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're not part of that the post-pocket lifted book club we're reading three chapters a month
[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_01]: we're discussing them it was a great episode the episodes actually got quite a bit of traction
[00:59:28] [SPEAKER_01]: on YouTube for some reason I'm not exactly sure why but I love doing it so if you want to get
[00:59:32] [SPEAKER_01]: part of it you can join the telegram group the post-pocket book club on telegram but more importantly
[00:59:39] [SPEAKER_01]: we want to have people live on the show or live in the comments discussing it but it's fun
[00:59:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I did a video this week on cold starting your generator um I added the hell out of it and it
[00:59:49] [SPEAKER_01]: came in at under four minutes so I don't know what was wrong with me I made the promise the
[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_01]: beginning of be under five and it was under four as a good video I had trending okay but if you haven't
[00:59:58] [SPEAKER_01]: seen yet do me a favor and check it out real quick too the one thing that you can do that cost
[01:00:04] [SPEAKER_01]: you nothing to support the workshop is share this show or share something anything that you see
[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_01]: that you like on the workshop do me a favor just share it across social that's all and I would appreciate
[01:00:14] [SPEAKER_01]: 110 percent I spent three days two nights up in Lloyd working on the new daycare actually it was
[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_01]: quite fun the missus and I would go up we'd work all day and then we just veg around order out food
[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and watch TV in the hotel room and just do work on the computer it was it was actually a really nice
[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_01]: many vacation but I spent the whole day doing a punch list at busy these south is what we're calling
[01:00:37] [SPEAKER_01]: that was a lot of fun I got hanga toilet paper roll hanga shelf hanga a another shelf for
[01:00:45] [SPEAKER_01]: a heater insulated the door blah blah blah just fun stuff my kind of day spend the whole day fixing
[01:00:51] [SPEAKER_01]: things that are broke that's what I like I don't know why I'm weird got a huge haul of meat
[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: from the superstar back in I went up early in the morning when we were in Lloyd and I got a bunch of
[01:01:01] [SPEAKER_01]: beef pork ground mix got some pork ground I got some pork chops and a whole bunch of
[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: stir-fried beef and if you ever wonder the hallol or the the the Jewish kosher those type of
[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: things if you're looking for meat quite often that's the stuff that ends up going on clearance
[01:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: so keep an eye out for it but about a shit ton it's all been cooked it's all in the freezer
[01:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: pre-freezing for the freeze dryer because I officially ran out of prep food today so I've got 24 hours
[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: of the freeze dryer just sitting there not doing anything that's okay I freeze dried freeze drove
[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what's the proper care now anyway frozen veggies this week ham and pork chops
[01:01:44] [SPEAKER_01]: we even reconstitute the pork chop we took one of the mylar bags put hot water in it put the
[01:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: pork chop in it and I would say three minutes and it was it was as good as a pork chop this
[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: heated up in the microwave like it was tender and unbelievable trying to practice reconstituting
[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: them cooking with them and of course the dogs love the dry treats almost to their on detriment I
[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: am going to tell you that how about this this one's funny I had a brain fart or no an epiphany
[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: this week and I realized and this is going to blow everybody's mind out there did you know
[01:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: that your workshop your garage is for parking vehicles in mind equals blown I know I had no idea
[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_01]: but as pulling in that night and I'm like shit I got to plug my vehicle in again I don't want
[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: to have to fight with a cold I was like you know you do have a workshop you could pull into
[01:02:38] [SPEAKER_01]: here's the thing I put those nice new work benches in there never thought to me never thought to measure
[01:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: never even once thought to measure whether my vehicle would go in there I know crazy Christix
[01:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and calls bullshit on this and it's true never thought so I knows all the way up until I feel
[01:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: myself just touch the work bench put it into park I go back to see if I can shut my garage door
[01:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and I realize my trailer hitch is sticking out so I detached my trailer hitch and I have about
[01:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: two inches despair but I want to tell you guys anyway it was unreal being a
[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: to keep my truck in there for those cold days that saved my ass so many times half an
[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: run out quick and not half in the weight for that truck to warm up or sit oh anyway absolutely great
[01:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I hacked is that the right word a TV at the hotel so I'm thinking about doing this weird series
[01:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: on hotel hacks there's three that I found so far that do work in some hotels the first one was
[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_01]: when you go in in the air conditioner won't go cold enough because they haven't locked out
[01:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: there's codes that you can do things that you can push your buttons to override the hotel codes
[01:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I like that number two there are codes in certain types of elevators that you push in or you hold
[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: the buttons down and you will go from the floor you're on to the floor you want to go without
[01:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: stopping at any other floors imagine that haha well this one was an LG TV we wanted to hook up a fire
[01:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: stick to it and it had no no exterior buttons it had one of those clean remotes that wouldn't
[01:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: allow you to access any of the inputs nothing worked so it turned out that I had to I watched
[01:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: about 12 different videos I found a like a terra part kind of manual one where somebody would
[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: serve us like a service book or whatever and in there gave me a four or five digit code type in
[01:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: that would manually put me on each input level so after my third try I was able to access it sometimes
[01:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I just have to go after a challenge Becky laughs she loves it and then of course I was a guest
[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: on the thriving the future podcast so much fun if you haven't listened give him a lesson
[01:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember how many subscribers he's got he's just you know he's got a hundred episodes in
[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: but he's doing really really good so give him some support guys when the episode comes out I'll
[01:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: share it across but it was just an awesome awesome conversation I loved it loved it all right next
[01:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: what do we have this one right here you know it's funny the last two weeks just before I go live
[01:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: there's breaking news that I want to share now this of course isn't maybe doesn't exactly
[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: fall under the breaking news category but when you see it you'll understand why I brought this up
[01:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: this is the preparedness news section I'm going to do a preparedness kind of section segment
[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: when I have a chance when there's something that is out there that I can share with you but this
[01:05:30] [SPEAKER_01]: was too big not to share look at all that glorious yellow and black for those on the audio you
[01:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: can't look at it the walled today didn't release but announced the impending release of a new
[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: battery platform or a new tool platform called PowerShift this is to compete with those big
[01:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: boxy beefy batteries for a mill walkie have a great night martinsen always love seeing in here so
[01:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: these if you can see them are massive batteries they are construction grade products so we've got a
[01:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: concrete skimmer we have a vibrator a really big vibrator Tim that's weird we have a mini
[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: tamper we have a plate tamper all kinds of crazy stuff all battery powered all with these high end
[01:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they're 554 watt hour batteries I saw right there the walled power shift 554 watt hour batteries
[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and high speed charger comes with it it's pretty exciting actually I like it also in a pinch these are
[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: all going to be able to take the flexible batteries as well so kind of backwards compatible or
[01:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: something along those lines so you're not completely losing them but we got a plate compactor a rammer
[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: a back pack vibrator power shift power pack I'm not exactly sure what that is power screen
[01:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and a cordial and a stand I'm excited it's been a while since the walled has come out with something
[01:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: this new so no backup that's a great question one step closer says backup power options not yet
[01:07:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to guarantee you there will be got to come up with something they are pretty yeah this is
[01:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: exciting because like I mean these are mass 554 watt hours is on the equivalent of one of those
[01:07:19] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of 500 watt battery battery banks and the the weight of them are so they're light look at this
[01:07:25] [SPEAKER_01]: 554 watt hours 11 and a half pounds for the battery in the charger not bad at all
[01:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: BFKC in the audience here says MX fuel battery competitor for commercial applications likely
[01:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: due to California's new small engine man no doubt whatsoever so it says here yeah there it is pros are
[01:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: ready for electrification electric out performs gas 60% of 68% of construction employees who switched
[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: to electric power tools said they've allowed them to complete projects up the two to three times
[01:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: faster I don't disagree I've used electric battery powered for a long time and love them so
[01:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Rachel just says Tim wants a backpack vibrator well if it has a 554 watt hour battery your
[01:08:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm straight I want a backpack vibrator holy crap look at the battery right there guys that's the guy
[01:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: holden it so I'm excited I'm glad that duals coming out with this and when I'm really hoping
[01:08:22] [SPEAKER_01]: is this is just the tip of a iceberg and where they expand this battery stuff into zero turn
[01:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: motors into snowblowers into backpack blowers because I do like yellow and black but they are definitely
[01:08:35] [SPEAKER_01]: lacking in some of the higher end landscaping gear that a lot of the other companies have anyway
[01:08:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I loved it I was glad I was able to kind of break this news to people tonight because I'm excited to see where
[01:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: it ends up absolutely all right next hang on here one second so this this is maybe one of my other
[01:08:57] [SPEAKER_01]: favorite name segments but this is the community nail bag and yes you're like Tim did you say nail or mail
[01:09:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I said nail and I am pretty excited yeah I got some incredible feedback from the community this week
[01:09:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and I cannot I gotta share it with you so here it is we got we got four four cool so if you've got
[01:09:15] [SPEAKER_01]: anything you want to share with the community or something that you're like you know what this is just
[01:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: make Tim smile send it to me you can there's a form on the website you can send it so this week I
[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: got something on the form from the website I got something via email I got something from a YouTube comment
[01:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and somebody over on Instagram so here it is this one made me smile I got this one this week
[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: it's from Dan and it's his greetings I just recently found your YouTube channel great stuff there
[01:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been preparing for our harsh winter in Texas the past few months I'm happy to say when the
[01:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: cold front moved in today I had two freezers full of meat a four refrigerator my generator and
[01:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: propane and drinking water to last at least a week not quite where I want to be on everything but
[01:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: this is the most prepared I have been I definitely took your advice of two as one one is none
[01:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: in three is better for my propane tanks I got three 100 pound tanks full of propane to power my
[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: generator I wish I would have found you channel before I bought my generator as I might have
[01:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: done things a bit differently and did not realize I could chain dinner generators together so I bought
[01:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: the Doro Max 13000 X I'm in the process of getting the transfer switch installed and hopefully
[01:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll have that up in the next day or two thank you for your advice your great product reviews
[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_01]: just wanted to drop a line with a bit of success story that can hopefully help others out there
[01:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: don't you love here in that it just makes me smile I want this to be even though we talk about
[01:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: some news and different things thank you Chris Dixon appreciate that he just threw up a $10
[01:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: super chat always love it have a great night brother so there's the first one that one made me
[01:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: smile I love hearing people prepared I love hearing that I was lucky enough to play just this
[01:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: little part in it but again it's all what the person does it's all what we do as an individual
[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: not what anybody else tells us to do right here's the next one this one came from modern front here
[01:11:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Adam as he's known over on Instagram and TikTok he's been on the show before a couple of times
[01:11:12] [SPEAKER_01]: as a butcher and he sells grass fade beef he said here's a different reason to prep he said I've
[01:11:18] [SPEAKER_01]: working hard at my business for about two years now and one of the reasons I could afford to do it
[01:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: was all of my short term in midterm preps I was able to consume them if money at times by eating
[01:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: some of my preps prepping isn't just for when things go bad but also to allow you to do good
[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: when opportunities arise I love that guys I hadn't really I mean you think about it but you
[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: don't think about it does that make sense anyway that one made me smile it's too many good things this
[01:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: week so here's the next one guys this is a good one too I got to figure it away to show you these
[01:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: comments but anyway this one if you guys remember back to last week and we read that article from the UK
[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_01]: where they basically said prepping was for rich people and how we kind of shit on a little bit
[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's true well this dude right here and if you're listening tonight thank you for listening
[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and chiming in because I really do appreciate it their username on YouTube is disabled and prepping
[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_01]: this is what they said and I asked to make sure that I could share this said I am on disability
[01:12:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and I do my best to get prepared I do have to save up for things but it can be done slow and steady
[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: works I can't say anymore than that I was hoping last week that I wasn't too hard on
[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: folks and you know it's that whole must be nice attitude but like I said back in ice pit many
[01:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: years broke as a joke and prepping is what got us through so thank you disabled and prepping thank
[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: you for taking the time to message me actually we got two more here this one was on George Seagulls
[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: episode we did a little while back he's doing the new documentary this is cool I don't maybe
[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: anyway let me read it you guys can draw your own conclusions this came from Goonies never say die
[01:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: looking forward to George's next film along those lines it's worth noting that home fires kill more
[01:13:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Americans every year than all natural disasters combined I did not know that I learned something new
[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and yet most homes are not equipped with home fire springflers also true despite a proven track
[01:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: record for saving lives and property safety and engineering experts add an mandate for home
[01:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: fire sprinklers to the residential code through a consensus process decades ago but the
[01:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: mandate has been removed at the state level in all but two states and the district of Columbia
[01:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: about half the remaining states are prohibited from adding it back in at the local level this is
[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: a direct result of lobbying by the NAHB who basically claims that sprinklers are too expensive adding
[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_01]: sprinklers to a new build is generally less than 1% of the total cost and the permanent insurance
[01:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: incentives and peace of mind substantially offset the cost would love for George to include this
[01:14:05] [SPEAKER_01]: now I agree with about 90% of that and I'm good I did not realize that house fires kill more
[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: people that all natural disasters in the US that's good to know I also agree that I think home
[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: sprinklers would be a great idea but where I disagree and that's okay we don't have to agree
[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: it's through legislation forcing the hand and I get it you got big business and government and
[01:14:31] [SPEAKER_01]: all this they make odd bed fellows I get it however if it is only 1% of the total cost and the
[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: permanent insurance incentives and peace of mind substantially offset the cost maybe the insurance
[01:14:42] [SPEAKER_01]: companies should be doing a better job advertising the fact that you would save a bunch of money
[01:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: because I didn't even know that was an option in homes so there you go again you know where I stand
[01:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: to government interference and this kind of thing I just can't let it be but I totally get the
[01:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: sentiment I'm totally fine with the idea and it's definitely something I think George would be
[01:15:03] [SPEAKER_01]: interested in knowing about I'm going to send this along to him if I'm sure Goon he's already has
[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: but I'll send it along as well alright final one and I got this one just before
[01:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: about two days ago and this one really made my day this is from miles and he said it to me on
[01:15:22] [SPEAKER_01]: telegram he said hey Tim hope you're doing well I know you're busy guy so I'll try to keep this brief
[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I listened yesterday to your expert council segment on a recent episode of their survival podcast
[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_01]: you're talking about handyman quoting and pricing I've been trying to establish a handyman business
[01:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: myself since I reached out to you a few years ago now and I 100% remember that too it was kind of cool
[01:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: it has been a few years I've had a feeling for a while that I've been undercharging and you're
[01:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: talking firm that for me when I was listening yesterday the biggest challenge for me has been pricing
[01:15:53] [SPEAKER_01]: you said you wouldn't charge less than $50 an hour minimum as a standard hourly rate
[01:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you think that would be true here and we're on the runway I figured you being a former handyman
[01:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and a new runs are resident I spent four years there in university I figured you'd be
[01:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I figured you'd have some valuable insight I also wanted to give you a big thank you for inspiring
[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_01]: me to take on this endeavor and leave my nine to five which was eating away at my soul
[01:16:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where I would be today without you never met miles in person but holy shit does
[01:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: that ever touch me I can't express my appreciation enough I'm not as active in the community as I
[01:16:29] [SPEAKER_01]: would like to be but hopefully I can make more time for that the future all the best to you and your
[01:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: family for 2024 from miles now first off I don't ever want anybody to ever apologize for not spending
[01:16:41] [SPEAKER_01]: time on the internet when you're out there busy building the life you want to live so get out there
[01:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: kickass take names build your empire and frigging run with it brother I love hearing it thank you so much
[01:16:54] [SPEAKER_01]: cannot wait to hear all of your success in 2024 so guys send me those type of stories I love
[01:17:00] [SPEAKER_01]: hearing them from you I love hearing all of that so I hope you guys appreciate me sharing some of this
[01:17:05] [SPEAKER_01]: back with you got two more segments for you and then we're gonna close up the first one this one
[01:17:11] [SPEAKER_01]: this was new I decided to call this one's gonna be called the history of the prepared now
[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_01]: where did this come from this was me sitting around again this is where my mind goes when
[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: back in our sitting chatting about all the the coldness and how bad it would have been and I thought
[01:17:29] [SPEAKER_01]: how in the hell did the pioneers back a hundred years ago in saw houses who barely even had
[01:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: rail tracks running through how did they keep their homes warm and I guess it's a little more
[01:17:39] [SPEAKER_01]: hundred years ago now but so I looked it up and I found this article on hh history so heroes
[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_01]: in heroines of history dot com and it was from 2018 and it said four ways that pioneers stayed warm
[01:17:52] [SPEAKER_01]: in the cold weather I like looking back at history because most times you'll find an analog
[01:17:58] [SPEAKER_01]: solution for problems in a digital world you get to see some things that you're like wow I never
[01:18:03] [SPEAKER_01]: thought about that so first off we actually had a fellow Canadian who did something similar to this
[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_01]: in the telegram group just to show but the first one was heavy betting and thick curtains so
[01:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: think back to the old Christmas carol was scourge and he's laying in bed and he's got a you know
[01:18:19] [SPEAKER_01]: a nightcap on and he's wearing long long pajamas and he's got 17 layers of betting on him
[01:18:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and he's got all those curtains around all of that acts as insulation again there's not much more
[01:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: you could do but I liked it it said down comforters allowed families to sleep and comfort with
[01:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: body heat held to their covers beds were piled high with quilts and comforters children often
[01:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: slept several to a bed heavy night clothing gave them additional layer of insulation and most
[01:18:45] [SPEAKER_01]: slept with stocking caps to keep them from losing heat through the top of their head now this
[01:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: one here bed warmers actually thought this was some sort of chamber pot covered copper or brass
[01:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: pan with a long handle serve as a bed warmer also do punched in the lid creating a design
[01:19:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and the pan was filled with heated rocks the warmer was slid between bedding layers using the
[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: long handle before the family retired thus warming the bed quite effectively I like that not bad
[01:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: this one's foot warmers a foot warmer were similar to a bed warmer but also different they usually
[01:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: consisted of a wood framed tin box with a wire hand on it heated rocks were put inside this was
[01:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: placed by the feet under a blanket and left there until the rocks cooled as a kid people used hot
[01:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: bottles a lot we use heating pads electric blankets whatever you had on hand and then this final one
[01:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: was kind of cool it was soap stones an alternative to bed in foot warmers was a soap stone
[01:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: stope stones would be placed in the fire to heat and used directly in the bed or the wagon they
[01:19:45] [SPEAKER_01]: were usually wrapped in rags to prevent burns from the hot stones due to their mass soap stones were
[01:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: often more effective than a foot warmer the more massive the stone the more of the heat held
[01:19:55] [SPEAKER_01]: so I thought that was cool I like looking back at the pioneer days and seeing exactly
[01:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: what they did to keep themselves warm because in case we ever had to deal with an absolute
[01:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: you know shit hits the fan worst case scenario it's always great to have ideas beforehand you know
[01:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: one step closer says my foot warmer has four legs and a tail yes you're correct apparently
[01:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: so I know people say you know to always have no good whatsoever well they're a very
[01:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: astute alarm they work wonders as an alarm but apparently they were also bred as being you know
[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: living breathing hot water bottles that's how they were treated in the past and that's exactly
[01:20:36] [SPEAKER_01]: what they're good at is a heating you out of the bed and just given that sigh and pushing you off the bed
[01:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: you know anyway all right final segment of the evening and this is the content creator spotlight
[01:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: this is one actually head in the notes last week and I forgot to share with you
[01:20:50] [SPEAKER_01]: has anyone out there heard about the TikTok tunnel lady if you have not and you want to go down
