He's the founder and president of the Doctor Lewis Nutrition He is an associate or. He has been a full full time associate professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and now a voluntary associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. He's also been the principal investigator of over thirty different studies on human health in his research career. Doctor Lewis, thank you for joining us on Church and State. Thank you Caleb for having me. It's great to be here. Absolutely, I'm excited about this conversation. You're doing quite a bit here, a very impressive website. But I just want to ask you plant based fuel. You're not going to turn me into a vegetarian or something that's not your plan here, is it. No, I'm not the preachy vegan, but I've been eating a plant based diet for twenty seven years. I don't you know. My view on nutrition and diet is to each his own. But there is a lot of very compelling research that the meat eating crowd is completely ignoring related to the impact of all of that animal tissue on health. But if you ask me for my ad vice, of course I'm going to tell you, and I'm not going to sugarcoat it. But no, I'm not. I'm not into conversions. I don't have time for it. I don't like arguing. And again, to each his own. Sure, my producer is also a vegetarian, so he's he's over here, he's excited, so I'm getting beat up on. It's okay, I can accept that. You know, obviously, there is a lot of health benefits to you know, the food that God produced, I mean the original intent. Adam and Eve, before the fall, they were eating plants, and so now we live on there under that original sin. We have, you know, canine teeth where some most of us are probably eating meat. But explain some of the health benefits that you're going to see from either reducing the amount of meat that you're eating or completely removing it. Well, first of all, the impact on can is pretty profound. I don't know if you've had Walter Longo on your show. He's a professor at the University of Southern California, and he's been doing longevity research on lots of different species for probably the last couple of decades. And I find his research to be very compelling, simply because he has shown time and again in his laboratory that the body has this very incredible capacity to recognize what we've put in it, right. I mean, it doesn't matter if it's through the mouth, something you're eating or drinking, or even absorbed through the skin. The genes recognize that information. And so with his research, he's shown very clearly that Number One, if you're eating a lot of protein, which now we've got this ongoing protein craze that the dietary guidelines are even pushing further, that if you continue eating copious amounts of protein, which the average American is already doing. By the way, anyway, it's not like proteins are protein. We have a protein deficiency issue in this country. But also in addition to that, if you are getting most to those proteins from animal sources as opposed to plant sources, you are actually turning on the metabolic pathways for things like insulin resistance proliferation, which is directly tied to cancer and cardiovascular disease and even mortality. So this is very significant. I mean, this isn't like you know, somebody's idea in the shower one night. This is over a long term period of time of all of this research combined with people like Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselston. I mean, these guys have run so much studies in their careers, respectively looking at the differences between animal tissue and plants and then looking at different outcomes related to again primarily the leading killers cardiovascular disease cancer. I mean, look at the information that comes out of the Public Health. School at Harvard. They have a whole they have a giant department of people working on all this nutrition data, and time and time again they keep showing that you have a greater risk of overall mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and cancer mortality if you continue eating all of this animal tissue. So you know, to me, like there's just a lot of science there in the carnivore bro crowd. I mean, we can address that too, because for me, humans are not carnivores. You mentioned our teeth, but our teeth look nothing like a shark, a lion, a tiger, a killer whale. These are true carnivores that we label, and our teeth look nothing like those, not even counting this instinct that they have that we don't have. I mean, you mentioned Adam and Eve, and I'm sure you're very familiar with Genesis one twenty nine where God says, you know, all the plants and seeds are for our meat, essentially, and you can interpret that however you like. But I mean, to me, there's just so much compelling research. And oh, by the way, I mean, I've been at this for twenty seven years, I'm way older than that. So I grew up in a family that ate for taste. My dad thought a meal was not a meal without some people, some meat, typically beef, a glass of milk, and a piece of bread. You could feed that guy anything else, but if it didn't have those three components to it, then he didn't think it was really truly a meal. So it's not like I came from you know, hippie loving people that you know, were peace freaks that didn't believe in eating animals. Now I came from Southern people that ate all this animal food. But I went through my own journey of discovery, not even related to actually my own formal training. It was more my own personal journey of looking at why I was very sick a lot as a kid, and then looking at a lot of the links between nutrition and chronic disease. And then I basically came to the. Conclusion that humans should not be eating animal tissue based on all of this research. I mean, it was not a trivial or a light decision. It was over a couple of years of studying the literature. And this was again twenty seven years ago, so imagine what's happened in all that time since then. So that's where I am. Again. I'm not here to convert anybody. I know people that you know, they laugh at what I say a lot and they think that it's funny. Oh, you're crazy. You know we're supposed to eat meat. Well again, show me the research, Show me where all of this, you know, animal tissue consumption is related to better health because you're you have a very hard time finding it. Yes, you're going to have short term research that shows if you go keto. You know, keto is obviously a very hot topic. If you're morbidly obese, if you weigh three or four hundred pounds, you're morbidly obese, you go into ketosis. Sure you'll lose some weight, But what are the ramifications of eating all of this saturated fat and protein for twenty or thirty years. Nobody knows, That's the thing. There's no research to suggest or to back up what all these what these so called experts are are relying on. I mean, they're again they're talking about short term effects, which again, if somebody has that level of obesity they need some sort of a kickstart to their weight loss goal. Okay, do it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the healthiest approach for the rest of that person's life. So I mean, for me, when I look at two major killers, cancer and cardiovascular disease, and again, all the research out there, I mean, the World Health Organization. You can say whatever you want to about their credibility today post COVID, but eleven years ago, in twenty fifteen, who had a committee of people reviewing the eight hundred studies at that time, and they came up with red meat as a likely or a probable carcinogen and process red meat as a definite carcinogen over eight hundred studies. I mean, that's again not trivial information. So if you just continue eating red meat every day, I'm sorry, you're probably elevating your risk at least of colorectal cancer, if not other types, and also cardiovascular disease. And that's not my opinion. That's the scientific literature. Yes, it's flawed. There's nothing perfect out there. Nutritional science, like any other branch of science, is not perfect. You can pick and choose, you know, errors and flaws all day long. I mean people can do the same thing to my research. I'm not saying anything that we've researched is one hundred percent perfect. Nothing is. However, when you have that much information giving you the same consistent message over decades of research from pre clinical studies like in cells, tissues and animals, clinical trials and humans like what I ran in my academic career, and then long term observational epidemiological studies, when you put all of that information and the message is consistent over that much time and over that many different types of studies. Hello, McFly, anybody home? Sure? I really like you said, you know, go ahead and ignore it all you want to, But that doesn't That doesn't mean just because you're ignoring it or because you think it's bogus, it doesn't mean it's true. So my question is, if I were to go vegetarian, do I have to go and buy a super Outback or a Prius. I'm kidding there obviously, but. I've never owned either of car. I am glad doctor Lewis that you brought up the fat because I just recently noticed this. There's protein and everything. You go to Starbucks and you can get the protein cold foam, and it's just another fad. And I want to talk to you about that because over the years, we've seen a lot of fad diets emerge. You know, you've brought up a couple already. But we had the low fat, we had the no fat, we had the keto, we had Atkins diet. What are the dangers of all of these fad diets that seem to come upon us out of nowhere. I think the primary danger would be short term and potentially long term nutritional deficiencies. So it's interesting to me how you hear a lot of again coming from this, you know, more of a moderate animal based perspective, because, let's face it, I mean, that's what the average American is talking about. Here's a great example, talking about vitamin D deficiency. Now, we were in a study on using a vitamin D supplement in elderly people about ten twelve years ago, is before I left academics full time, and at that time, I don't know what the exact number is right now, but it's I think it's pretty similar. At that time, it was estimated seventy percent of Americans were either insufficient or deficient in their vitamin D blood level. Now, one to two percent of all Americans claimed to be self report claimed to be vegetarian or vegan. So how is it that seventy. Percent of our population has this deficiency or insufficiency in one of the most important nutrients. It's not even a vitamin, it's actually a pro hormone that interacts with over forty five hundred of our genes. It's way more than just bone health. It's literally had to toe it. It impacts every single major organ system. So how is it that that one to two percent of vegetarians and vegans could be responsible for seventy percent of our population having this issue with vitamin D? Right? I mean, that makes no sense. Can I just a pinne throughout a hypothesis on that one? Please? Please? Sunscreen would be something that I would look at and seed oils? Well, certainly, I mean I don't recall that, you know at what year it happened, but there was definitely a major shift, let's say, in the last twenty years, where people had the crap scared out of them about what skin cancer melanoma, right, Like, You've got to stay out the sun. It's going to kill you. You're going to end up with skin cancer of some form and you'll be dead. And so everybody went nuts over sunscreen exactly to your point. So it went way too extreme. Like the public health message was way too extreme about this idea that oh my gosh, I can't get out in the sun. It's going to kill me. And then meanwhile, what happened, exactly to your point, People started lathering on all this crappy chemical solutions to block the UVB radiation that our body no longer can can receive to get the vitamin D. However, I would say there is a little bit of a caveat to that, and especially like folks that live where you do, I mean, compared to your sunshine and mine, there's like no different I mean there's no comparison. Right, Like you're in Washington State. I'm in southeastern Florida. I get way more sun than you do, no doubt about it. Especially you know, all of you guys in the upper northern latitudes. So I mean, even if you were outside every day in the nude, I don't know if you'd even get enough UBB radiation because it's so cloudy and overcasts and the type of weather that you have as opposed to me, if I got out in the nude every day for thirty or forty minutes, I would be burned. So you know, there's extreme differences in terms of where you live on the planet and how much potential sun exposure you can get. The seed oil issue, I don't know how seed oil consumption relates to your vitamin D level. You've got me there. I have no clue. Okay, I've seen a number of studies. They show that people that are removing seed oils from their diets are actually not burning anymore. And I have a dug down deep enough into that, but I have seen a number of people reporting that the seed oils is what's causing us to burn. Well, that's another one. I mean, you talk about fats, that's another one. I mean, you know right now seed oils are getting hammered, just like you know. So many other things. I mean, sugar. Sugar is a word. If you want to talk about sugar for a second, this is this is my pet word, if you will. So, sugar is a very interesting word. And we as Americans have been led at least for the last half century that anytime you hear the word sugar, you think what bad? Yep, right, Like, there's no possibility that you could consume sugar and it would be good for you. However, that is a factually incorrect statement, and I'm going to tell you why, because Mother Nature makes four time types of sugars. There are monosaccharides, one molecule of sugar like hyproptascorn syrup. There are disaccharides, two molecules of sugar, like sucrose or white table sugar. There are oligosaccharides. These are eight to ten molecules of sugar. Most commonly you'd see these in breast milk. These are very important for the baby to get from his or her mother to drink her milk and to grow and develop. And then finally there are polysaccharides. These are literally thousands of molecules of sugar attached together by these very sophisticated glycosidic bonds. They are unlike anything else in mother nature. They are more sophisticated, way more sophisticated than amino acids, fatty acids, certainly, vitamin's, minerals, anything else that we would either put in to our mouths or be absorbed absorbed through the skin. My colleagues and I have spent the last twenty years studying these polysaccharides from alovera and rice brand primarily. There are other plants that make them as well, but I would put them in the same class as maybe only kirkuman. Kirkcumen is the only other nutrient or fighter nutrient that I would put in relative comparison or relative value in terms of their potential for healing and the potential benefits that they have. And that is not an opinion based statement. That is based on our research from the University of Miami for the last again twenty years. Just from our lab alone, the research is phenomenal without sounding too much of an egomaniac. Besides all the other research that's been conducted on these particular complex sugars around the world by other scientists, so sugar, carbohydrate, sacharide, those are generally synonymous with each other. When you say all sugar is bad for you, again, that's an erroneous statement. There's nothing based in fact to make that statement. It depends on the context and it depends on the source of the sugar. So one of my missions, in addition to talking about our research and how I can help people, is to help people put proper context around this word, because to me, sugar is the most misused words, certainly in nutritional science and maybe in all of health and wellness. It drives me batty when I hear some so called experts say all sugar is bad for you. No, it's not. Absolutely it's not. If you are eating high fructast current syrup and sucrose every day, I would tend to agree you're probably not setting yourself up for your best metabolic health. But these complex sugars from Olvera and rice brant are like nothing else that we can consume. And there's no research on protein or amino acids or fatty acids that even comes close to what we've shown that these polysaccharides can do. So this is fascinating to me. So where would like honey or maple syrup fall on that the four different types of sugars. What happens if tomorrow comes in your family isn't prepared. Get started Advanta dot com. That's a great question. They're probably die sacharides. Okay, They're probably somewhere like sucrose. They're they're not They're definitely not oligo sacharides. I mean, you don't oligos. In addition to breast milk, you would also find these oligo sacharides and things like fermented foods like kimchi or kiefer or things like that. So maple syrup and honey. I mean, you've again caught me with a question I don't exact answer to, but I would probably classify them as a die sacharide. Okay, so you'd still wall better than your average table sugar. You still want to kind of reduce the amount. You know you're not going to drink like the Canadians do a gallon of maple syrup or something like that. Well, you probably wouldn't do that. So as far as these two healthcare sugars, you mentioned one in breast milk and then the other did you say ali vera. Ali vera and rice brand. So remember in breast milk they're oligo sacharides. Again, these are big, but compared to polysacharides nothing. Oligosacrits are eight to ten molecules. Polysacries are thousands of molecules. Thousands. Think about that for a second. Again, these things are like five D structures. You cannot draw them on a piece of paper, you cannot make them on a flat computer screen. They are like nothing else that we would find in mother nature that have this healing effect. And one of our working theories is that the genes interpret everything we put into our system. Again, through the mouth or through the skin, whatever, our genes recognize that information. It's like a coated library, and then it takes that information and then it tells our cells how to function. Either to our detriment or to our betterment, hopefully to our betterment. But that's why in our. View, and I'm saying our my colleagues and I we look at these polysaccharides again with such incredible potential based on all of our research, all the anecdotal work that we've done, that there is just nothing else other than maybe curcumin that's out there like this. Stuff, fascinating stuff. So I'm assuming you probably have something like this on the website. I don't want to get into that yet with the NRBTV there's some restrictions there, but as soon as we get back from the break, I want to I want to dive a little bit more into that and actually show the audience how they can get some of this, because, like I said, this is absolutely fascinating to me. We got about seven minutes before we're going to get to that point. So let me switch topics here real quick, because I want to hit on something that unfortunately I see far too many people using these days, and I'm talking about Ozepic, Wagovi. I think there's a few other names out there, but I see a lot of Americans that they just want the quick fix, you know, Americans have gotten kind of lazy without without trying to offend too many people. We don't want to put in the work. We don't want to put in the diet, the exercise. Oh there's a pill. The big Farmer's got a solution for me, Give me all of that. Sign up for free at Lenovo dot com, slash pro, Lanovo Lenovo. I could, Caleb, I cannot agree with you more. I mean, you hit the nail on the head. It's that quick fix, magic bullet mentality. Look, nobody's born obese, right, I mean I don't know any baby that comes out of his mother and is born obese. It's not That is not the way our design works. And so this is a lifetime issue. I was just talking about this yesterday, Like nobody's born obese. I shouldn't say nobody, because, like you, I don't want to offend everybody out there. Most people are not taking personal responsibility for their health. I don't care what the dietary guidelines are. I don't care what the government mandates. I don't care what the insurance pays for you and me and every other individual out there that has a brain that can think for him or herself. We have to take personal responsibility for our health, and that includes eating properly, which you and I probably don't agree with on that point, that's okay, Taking certain key nutrients that are typically not found or uncommon or even rare in the diet, exercising every day, making sure you drink plenty of water, getting six to eight hours of sleep every night, managing your stress, not using tobacco, not using alcohol. I mean, these are the foundations of health, and these are the things that people need to start doing. You don't need a degree in biochemistry or physiology or medicine or anything else to do this. You just need to get off your butt and take responsibility for who you are as a person and your health and pass that on to your children. I mean, the obesity epidemic in children is so disturbing to me. And children model as we know, children and adolescents, they model what their parents, their grandparents, any other people who take care of them. They model behavior. So you have all these obese, overweight adults, no wonder our children have become overweight and obese. All they're doing is modeling what they're watching. And so this quick fixed mentality, I mean this drug thing. You know, first of all, we don't know what the research is ultimately going to show. I mean, these. Drugs, this class of drugs is relatively new. They've been I think the first one for weight loss was only approved about five or six years ago, so, and then the one before that was approved for diabetes a few years before that. So we don't have a clue yet. I mean talk about being you know, somewhere down on the curve when the curve maybe once it gets up here. In terms of all the side effects that are going to occur, I mean, we already know sarcopenia. I mean, my goodness, sarcopenia used to be an issue. For older people. Now we're going to have all of these twenty and thirty and forty somethings years old running around with sarcopenia, meaning they've lost their muscle mass, ozimpic face. Once you screw up your face. What do you do. The only thing you can do is go to a plastic surgeon and maybe try to, you know, get some sort of synthetic filler or something. Stomach paralysis, Oh, my goodness, stomach paralysis. We want transit time. Talk about coorectal cancer, just a moment ago. Transit time of what goes in and needs to you know, go out. Transit time is a very important variable for knocking down that risk of corectal cancer. If you consume a meal and then that stuff just sits there for I don't know days, you are driving up your risk of coorectal cancer because all of those metabolites and all those byproducts they have nowhere to go, so they will create leaky gut and then, you know, God forbid, down the road, you may end up with coorectal cancer. For that. How about visual issues, I've seen now reports of people losing their vision. My wife's an optometry. She's already seen a few cases of neuropathy in the eye due to these people taking. This class of drugs. I just read an article two weeks ago looking at a huge number of people. I think this was a study from the UK. This class of drugs is causing people now to have major depressive disorder, anxiety, bipolarism, all of these mental health effects we already know we have. I mean, forget the physiological epidemics now, all these mental health epidemics that we already have. Now you put somebody on one of these GLP one drugs and they're going to have even more of a mental health issue. So it just goes on and on. I mean, my concern for people is that, yes, maybe you get on this drug and again, like somebody who was morbidly obese and goes keto for a few months, get on this drug maybe to kind of, you know, kick start your weight loss journey. But if you're not. Underlying who you are, your behavior that got you there in the first place, and addressing those things, no drug in the world is going to repair you or heal you. And in fact, it's the same story as all these other weight loss studies in the scientific literature, regardless of the treatment or intervention, when people goes off. When people go off these drugs, what happens to them They start gaining the weight back. And that's exactly what they want, right, They want a client for life. And I don't care what drug it is. That is the marketing engineering side of big pharma. They want clients for life. I want to talk to you about the more functional medicine side, because I've seen, or I've talked to a number more on the functional medicine where they'll say a microdosing ozempic or a GOV with diet with exercise that this could be. I don't want to put words in their mouth, but this isn't as dangerous. I suppose it would be the proper way to say it. What are your thoughts on that? You know, my thoughts don't really change a whole lot, because, as you and I both know, a drug cannot be a drug till it passes through all of the the FDA approvals. And one of the thresholds or gait points to that is that it has to have a level of toxicity, right, it has to kill. We call it typically LD fifty, like that value of a drug certainly not in humans, but in you know, studied in mice or rats or guinea pigs, something like that. So a company will find out what that LD fifty is in an animal, and then that value gets translated to humans. Well, it's still a drug. I mean, yes, you can microdose it, and certainly you would assume that the amount of the drug would have less of an impact, but it's still going to have adverse effects, especially if you draw that thing out for years, right, I mean it's. Not and doctor Lewis, I gotta pause you there. We're gonna come back show, Ladies and gentlemen. We hit that hard break for the NRBTV audience. Ladies and gentlemen, I want all of you to be a walking billboard. Some of us don't have platforms such as church and state, but you know what, we can wear T shirts and engage in great conversations with Christians and patriots all across the country. It's controversial, but hey, I'm a controversial guy. I do take this stuff and I've had I've seen some dramatic changes in myself and so that mental clarity, I'm just kind of popping. I talk about that a lot. Also helped me with my sleep, which was surprising. I've been open with the audience about struggling with insomnia for years, and this stuff, Gosh, I'm starting to get tired eleven thirty, which before Man one o'clock, two o'clock, i'd be up reading still, So I love what it's doing for me, plus the mitochondrial health, the stuff that I'm not necessarily seeing. But I do love Best three sixty five Labs, and I want you to use the promo code Church and State. If you're interested in using this stuff, try it for thirty days and see what happens. Once again, please hit the donate button for us as well to keep us on the air with Prepper Broadcasting Network and OURBTV so many great things, because we do need your help to stay out there. All right, With that, let's go back to our guest, and I apologize doctor Lewis for having to interrupt you. You know how it goes, but please finish what you were saying. And then if you want to comment on the methylene blue, if you want to tell me stop eating meat and stop eating methylene blue, go right ahead. No, buddy, I don't. Again, I'm not looking for arguments. I just know I think I was pretty much almost finished with my point. My feeling though, is that again, a microdose of any drug, not just a GLP one, is. Going to have a side effect. It just will because it is considered to be a toxic is a toxic material. I mean, let's face it, no human was created or has evolved to this state to need any chemical or synthetic material. That's not the way we were created or have evolved. So you know, it's just the same with statins or antidepressants or anti hypertensives or anything else. So I would just encourage all of these folks. I mean, it's easy to get caught up in all of the hype, all the marketing. You know, you think, oh wow, this is you know, the latest greatest thing that big Pharma is bringing down from on high. But to me, like again, if you're not addressing the behavior. If you're just relying on this so called magic bullet, you've already you're already lost anyway, because at the end of the day, it's not going to work for you. You sure, and let me ask you this, because I think you're gonna love this question. Most of these drugs that Big Pharma is producing are originally plant based. It's a synthetic version. So when you get like antihistamines, lavender has the same effect. That's where they're getting it from. So with weight loss, with the statins, with all this different stuff, there are plants that you can take that'll have a similar effect. Am I correct? Lenders use most plus credit reports and real time alerts to help keep you on top of your credit. Visit myfico dot com slash free and take the mystery out of your Fyco score. That's exactly right. So I mean things like burberine. Burberine is a plant that has been shown to have very similar metabolic activity to these gop ones. In fact, it's been kind of touted as the natural met forman if you will, so, yes, absolutely. I mean, kurcumin is another one. These polysachrides are another one. I mean, there are lots of things that Mother Nature God provide to us that you know, we're unfortunately the average person is just ignoring. Now, I did a little bit of research into the discovery of golp one. You know where this thing came from originally, not a plant, the venom of HeLa monsters. That's great. Think about that for a second. Wow, the venom of HeLa monsters. So I mean, to me, this is almost as ridiculous as you know, aborted fetal tissue in all of these shots that people are unwillingly taking that they don't have a clue what they're doing to themselves. So again, you know, it's like, man, you really you know. It's why I go back to my original comment or earlier comment about personal responsibility. You go to somebody in a white lab code and you think that person knows everything, well, hell, you know that person may not know everything. And you better do your own homework because it's your health. And if your health is being turned over to somebody in a white lab coat, you're giving away your power. Then guess what you may pay for that in the worst fashion. Sure, absolutely, that's fascinating information about the GLP ones. Just I shouldn't be surprised by that. But there we are modern science ladies and gentlemen. All right there, let's let's go to your website. I want to bring this up Doctor Lewis Nutrition dot com. Chris will bring that up so the audience can see that. But I want to talk to you about these these sugars because this is, like I said, this is really fascinating to me. I want to introduce this to the audience. I'm sure there are people out there that are like, I want to start taking this stuff. Please tell us more about it. Well, the the flagship product is called Daily Brain Care, and you see the Doctor Lewis Nutrition Plant based fuel is our brand name. And again, this is my life's work. This is based on the last twenty years of my life. I'm extremely incredibly proud of all of this work that went into validating and proving that daily brain care is something that we all need, not just for people with neurodegeneration. We ran two clinical tusand people with Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis, and I think this is probably a good point to make sure we're FTC compliance. So no one please leave this interview and say, oh, Lewis said you could use nutrition to treat disease. I'm not saying that at all. The pharmacological model says you take a synthetic chemical like a golp one, and then you alter a metabolic pathway that treats a symptom of a disease. That's the pharmacological paradigm. The nutritional paradigm says, you provide the body the raw materials that the cells need, as guided by our genes to instruct them and how to function, and to then enable the inherent intelligence that we have to repair, restore and heal ourselves returning to harmeostasis. So that's the nutritional model, and that's what I talk about all the time. But we showed something I'll just tell you briefly in the Alzheimer's study in response to this dietary supplement formula over twelve months. These were people with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. We gave them this dietary supplement every day. We tested their cognitive function at baseline, three, six, nine, and twelve months, and then we drew their blood at baseline in twelve months. What we showed is unlike anything else in the scientific literature, and that's why I'm such an advocate of these polysaccharides. Caleb. At nine and twelve months, we showed clinically and statistically significant improvements in cognitive function in people with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. Let me repeat that. That's incredible, Please, yeah, I can repeat it. Clinically and statistically significant improvements in cognitive function in people with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease according to the gold standard for assessing cognitive function, the ADAS COG. That is unheard of in the scientific literature. You can compare that to the five FDA approved drugs for dementia which do not do squat. You can compare that to any type of diet, any other dietary supplement, exercise, hyperbaric oxygen, red light therapy, sound, therapy, music therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, you name it. If there's someone out there that can show me a similar finding to our study, I would love to see it, because our first paper was published in twenty thirteen, and I haven't seen anything else either before thirteen or after that even comes close to that. That is unheard of. And I thought at that time when I made when I shouldn't say I, when we made that discovery, I was on cloud nine, as you can imagine. I mean I would had I gotten more money to continue that line of research, I would probably still be in academics. But it actually turned out to be the beginning of the end end of my academic career because once we made this discovery, and I'll talk about the sailor changes in just a second, but I literally. Thought I was so stupid. I was so naive. I thought NIH and Alzheimer's Association and maybe you know, some wealthy individual here in Miami were you know, would just be bending over backward to give me blank checks, to say, here, Lewis, take this money, you know, take our money, make more discoveries, help people. You know that, you know, I was that kind of naivety and I ended up getting nothing zero from that paper's publishing in twenty thirteen. To me leaving academics full time in seventeen, I tried four times, twice with NIH, twice with Alzheimer's Association. I could not get a one penny out of those people. Let me get to who are probably demonized as. Well, possibly, I mean, it didn't go to that extreme of being like an outcast, but certainly at a very conservative, conventional medical school like the University of Miami that's so dependent on big farm of funding. I mean I could literally count on two hands the number of other people like myself who were conducting research and nutrition at that time. And it hasn't gotten any better. Oh, by the way, in the last decade. It's still the same environment, the same routine. But I just didn't get like nobody said, oh my gosh, like you can help people that's the sixth leading killer of Americans. Like I didn't get, you know, like it should have been all over the news, it should have been published, you know, all over the university's publications. I basically got nothing. Like it was just like, hello McFly, anybody you know the same, Hello McFly? Anybody home? I basically got nothing, but it was not I didn't leave in bitterness. I left actually with the idea that I had something so powerful that I wanted to go into business and found Doctor Lewis Nutrition and be able to take this message to the world. And my goal in my business is to touch at least one million lives with this particular formula because of its power and its ability to help people, and again not just in brain issues, but literally in every single cell in the body. It uses these polysacharides. So at the cellular level, when you look at the clinical practical finding, you say, well, how do you explain that at the cellular level, Well, first of all, we showed a statistically significant increase in the CD four to CD eight ratio, that is your ratio of your helper cells to your cytotoxic cells. Now that's a ratio that's important for all of us, not just for people with Alzheimer's, and that's considered to be an overall indicator of how well your immune system is functioning. Second, we showed reductions in two proteins that are looked at for chronic inflammation. These are called tumor necrosis factor alpha and vascular endothelial growth factor. Now, classically they've been looked at primarily in cancer and heart disease. Our paper was probably the first one that showed that daily brain care could lower these things over that twelve month period in people with Alzheimer's. And then finally, the third really just incredible finding in this first paper was that we showed a two hundred and eighty six percent increase in adult stem cells CED fourteen's, or markers of adult stem cells. We know from other research that this particular type of stem cell can turn into neurons. So and oh, by the way, I didn't. Mention these people were on average seventy nine point nine years of age. Think about that for a second. Now. You know that as we get older, as we pass out of our twenties and thirties, our stem cell production process starts to decline like many other processes do in the body. Unfortunately, So these people. Were just under eighty years of age on average, and we turned on their stem cell production process by just under three hundred percent with nutrition. I'm sure everybody out there has probably seen some sort of stem cell anti aging longevity clinic touting. You know, come in and get a stem cell treatment either for your you know, your knee issue or your hip or you know, it's usually something orthopedic, but you know, obviously that's an invasive medical procedure. This is taking nutrition what mother nature provides for us and allowing the body to utilize these materials is coded library of information to repair. And restore a heel itself. So this paper was just such a just an incredible I mean again, it took us two and a half We had thirty four people in the study. It took us about two and a half years to run this study because of the length of the intervention and the amount of effort that it went into running it. But it was truly the pinnacle of my academic career. We went on to publish three more papers after that, but it's the one paper that first one is the one paper in my career where the editor of the journal, the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, doctor Perry. He's still the editor of that journal today. He actually called me after we submitted that paper and he goes, wow, doctor Lewis, this paper is amazing. I'm going to recommend that we publish it as soon as I get the reviews back. From the reviewers. That's the one and only. Time out of my one hundred and eighty or some odd papers in my career that that ever happened, and that of course made me feel really proud too. But I just have a passion for telling people about these poly sachrides and what daily brain care can do for them. And just again, this is not opinion based. This is based on all of this work, and I take it myself. My mom's been on it for about thirteen years. I've been on it for about a decade. My wife started taking it when she was pregnant with our first child. We have two young children. I started both of them on it when they turned six months of age. So this is a. Cradle to grave strategy of keeping your immune system regulated, keeping your inflammation under control, boosting your stem cell production. I mean lots of different things that they do, and I just don't there's nothing else in my view of the world of what we can consume that will do better than what these do. Well, I'm very interested. I got to try this stuff, I tell you, absolutely, and I got to tell you that I used to be an EMT and certainly alzheimer in my own family. My great grandmother had it, and it was so tragic to watch her, this this robust Italian woman who was just always in the kitchen, just always cooking and always trying to get us to eat more and more and more, Mandra Manda Manja. But but then she just literally lost her mind and she became like a child, and then as a as an emt, just inside of people's houses all the time and watching people. Yeah, with Alzheimer's, it's a very tragic disease. And so if we can do anything to alleviate that, actually bring them back to where they have their mind, back to where they can enjoy their families and their latter years, I am all for it. So I appreciate your work, sir. I'm gonna bring up the website one more time. We've unfortunately ran out of time, but I got to have you back. Actually I think, uh, no offense, Chris, but I think doctor Lewis may be my favorite vegetarian. Uh so, uh but I'm gonna have to have you back, sir, and we're gonna have to we can have some more conversations here, but please, last words for the audience, plug the website again. Sure, absolutely Caleb, thank you so much for having me. I mean, I really appreciate your time. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share part of my story and my journey with you and your listeners. I mean, I was grateful to meet doctor Regi McDaniel twenty years ago. I didn't even talk about doctor Reg today, but he's the man who got me into this whole Polysacharride line of research. And here I am today, twenty years later, you know, carrying the torch and continuing to. Spread this message of hope. Like you said, I mean, you were touched by your great grandmother's disease and how horrific this disease is, and from a conventional perspective, you know, people just give up basically they think there's nothing they can do. But we have an opportunity to help people. And again, it's not treating disease. It's providing support to allow the body to do It's it's amazing work that it has this incredible power and intelligence to do. So I would love to come back. I would love to work with you any way. You see fit. I'm happy to be a partner with you. It's fantastic. I'm definitely gonna take you up on that. So I'm gonna go ahead and close this out.
