Helping Neighbors When the Storm Skips You

Hello, Welcome to the podcast What is that your vaccine Passport? And to use social credit score and be sure you have enough remaining carbon credits to enjoy today's show, Me and a Family. Your garden is the resistance? How is that resistance? Is it? Is it canning time? Is it drying time? Is it freeze drying time? Is it dehydration time? Have the zucchinis reached the point where they're driving you insane? Have the cherry tomatoes reached the point where you don't want to look at them anymore? How are you looking? How are you looking? We had a big treat taking down this what was it Monday? And it's time. It's time to get back to large scale gardening again, which I'm looking forward to thinking a lot about neighbors, rebuilding and recovery. You know, what are the things you're capable of doing as a prepper for your neighbors? Right, find yourself in that situation where you know, I dodged the bullet, the storm has passed, we didn't lose power, we didn't lose you know, a tree didn't fall in the house. We're in a good position. You find yourself in a situation like that, and immediately you think, for a second, Okay, I can stay hold up in the house and wait for whatever the next step is, or I can help the people around me who are weren't as fortunate, right, And I started thinking about those things. What are those things? Right? What skill sets? You know, medical is a really good one, it really is. Man there. You know, you buy a first aid kit, and to be honest with you, I've never owned a first aid kit that has really served me for a long term sort of injury. You know what I mean? You might get like I have a I the best first aid kid I ever bought was the first I think it's called the Survival first Aid Kids. It was from a company out of the Australia, and it's a great kit and there's a lot of great variety, and there's some interesting things in there. You know, there's some things like saline tubes in there that are really convenient. It was the first kid I ever bought and that had a tourniquet in it was the first tourniquet I ever owned. Right, And I still have this thing, so I you know, I'm not talking bad about it or anything. And there's still stuff in there, but We've had some injuries this year. We've had some bleeders. We had a dog a little bit of a dog bite between dogs that turned into stitches and turned into you know, after care, and it turned into a whole lot of me going I need more cases of rolled gauze, and I need to really. One of the things I did this year on the medical side is I've given up on medical tape. Medical tape is not a thing for us anymore. You know, I've had good medical tape. I've had, you know, a lot of first aid kits come with that tiny, little thin little medical tape that sucks and is useless. The ace bandage looking rap. I don't know the name of it. Another thing I decided to stock up on just have those. They wrap over everything, They cover everything. They're easy. You don't need a pin, you don't need an adhesive. You know, it just sticks to itself, you know what I mean. It's just superior by every stretch as far superior. And it's superior for animals too, by the way. It's it's a better product, you know. But one of the things, one of the ways I'm thinking, you know, you can help neighbors is you're in that situation where trees are down, maybe there was a hurricane or something, and someone has a wound, a laceration, you know what I mean. And it's like we got a like a bad one, you know what I mean. Stiptic powder. Maybe stiptic powder was actually a thing I had to buy. Funny enough, I thought I had it, and I didn't. I didn't need it, like I didn't need to buy it because I needed it for any wound. I just was like, oh, I don't have it. My buddy in town who's a doctor, was treating my finger, which is I should have. I should have. It's so disgusting, but I should have taken photos of this thing through the healing process, because I realized, like, you cannot believe the body. You just cannot believe it. It's unbelievable the human body is. But he was asking about stiptic powder, and I realized, oh, man, I thought I had, I don't have it. But being able to show up to somebody's door with some smooth bandages, right with a case of rold gauze or a lot of rold gauze, you know, and a lot of that wrap to cover it all up and maybe some they may probably have their own antibiotic ointment or best tracing or something along those lines. But having those things, you know, another really easy one to buy is like a case of big ninety percent alcohol bottles, you know what I mean? Easy? Like I bought a case of those years ago, and I think we've gone through one bottle. But it's just one of those things like why not it lasts forever? Right, It's so. But I've been thinking a lot about that. I've always thought about coffee. I've told you the coffee thing before with the neighbors. And of course, you know there's repairs and tools and you know, chainsaws, replacement chains bar and chain oil, just things that you can you have them, hopefully, right, you have them, and you can reach out to people in a disaster or an emergency and tell them, hey, you know, you got a tree down in your shed. You got a chainsaw, does it work? And what do we need to do to get it up and running? You know, these things go a long way, man, you know, they really do go a long way. You know, same could be said with food. And you know one that popped into my head was was kids? Was childcare? It was the idea of like, you know, let why don't you Why don't you drop your kid off at our house? We got two kids and they'll entertain yours. And you guys really dig into like clearing out that clearing out that bottom floor, clearing out that basement, clearing out that shed that got flooded and is full of muck. And do you know what I mean, and just put your head you and your wife, just put your head toward whatever it is that you gotta put your head toward, you know, or even just a quiet moment to sit down and call the insurance company and get that whole ball rolling. These you know, these are the things man, right, we could talk about in the world, and we should talk about in the world. You know what I mean, There's nothing wrong with talking about end of world. I posted a I did a a Reddit post of an absolutely insane it's almost at a hundred thousand views, right, and it was all about the word prepper. And it was just all I asked was, what does the word prepper mean in twenty twenty six? What's it mean? You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna give them an alert out of courtesy, and then I'm probably gonna do a whole show on it and just read their responses, because some of they were just great, some of them are just really good. But I think that that whole you know, preparing for what real repercussions, real repercussions to building a fleet of AI drones, AI power drones, you know what I mean. It's gonna come a time when we all own our own AI drones and our own AI pilots, our own AI drones that fly around our house, you know what I mean, and protect us. There's no doubt about it. There's no doubt about it. It's inevitable. Speaking of AI. I reached out to a contractor yesterday. I just found them scrolling through Instagram. He's a guy who builds data centers. That's what he does. He's a contractor, builds data centers. And what he does is he coaches other contractors also, and I just want to talk to him. I want to talk to him. I want to see what's going on in there. I want to see, you know, how much money he's making, if he's willing to talk about it and just talk about this whole process, you know, because things in America are well, things in life in general. You know, there's always a gray area, there's always a thing, right, how many people does this guy employ, how many people are eating, how many kids are eating, how many families are happy, how many people are going on vacations, whatever the situation is, because these things are going up. You know, I'm not trying to legitimize him, but I'm not you know, I'm also not demonizing the technology either. It is what it is, right, it is what it is. And unless you're willing to go really dismantle it, you know, then then what's the point. What's the point I'm getting all crazy about it? It is. What I would like to see is everybody get paid for it. But of course, the big problem, and the problem we all know that's going to happen could be a major collapse of the stock market, which would really bother me if I had money in the stock market. But what really could happen is, you know, all this stuff that we're afraid of with AI, all this stuff that it's purported to be able to do, the adoption of AI by all kinds of businesses and stuff. On Red Beacon Media a couple of weeks ago, I talked about how Ford has fired it's AI and the engineering department already all of this big promise and all this trillion dollar quadrillion dollar investment is what it's going to get to. What if it comes up short. It's all coming up short, alphabet and uh and elon musk. They're already over budget. The income is not there right, and the budgets are are go only going higher and higher for costs to get this thing off the ground. So you know, there's a lot wrapped up in that that could go bad, big time bad. So I do think it's important that particularly we as preppers, we stay on the side of long term, long duration preparation and survival, sustainability, the right self sufficiency and you know those things. Some of those things can happen through buying. Some of those things can happen through learning. I do look at the natural world a lot and say to myself, you know a lot of the answers are here, A lot of the answers are already here. I think there's a like a it feels like there's just a homeostasis with human technology. I mean, the other day I was even thinking about like this is a crazy thought, but it's just what it was I was thinking, did we build the Internet to give it to AI? Like it? Like it's it was our it was our offering, and now we leave right like we created this this digital imprint of humanity over what twenty years? Thirty years? We created this digital imprint of humanity, and then we gave it, We sacrificed it to artificial intelligence so that we can get back to our life and it can live in that hell hole and figure out how to be effective or whatever. I was really thinking about that the other day, like what if we just give the Internet up? And I know not everybody in every industry or anything like that could do that, but I'm talking about like the masses, Like the masses just decide, like eh, you know. I had my hands on a Slipknot's original EP today in Walmart. It was a surreal moment. It really was weird. I walked I was with my oldest son and we were going to look at the books and we walked into this aisle and there's just a bunch of CDs. There got a bunch of Abbas CDs and I saw Slipknots first CD and I picked it up and I told Carter, I said dude, this is cheaper than when I bought it. That this thing was like seventeen dollars when I bought it and it's here at Walmart for nine ninety nine CD. It kind of blew my mind. I'm not gonna lie. It kind of rocked my world a little bit. I was blown away. I was like, what is it? What are you doing here? It was like something out of a time machine? But is that? You know? Do we return to that? Could we all survive without the Internet. I'd miss you guys tremendously. I wish, I really wish that my audience was big enough that I could do tours, you know what I mean, That's what I really wish. It's getting to that point, and I have to. I have to get to that point. I really do see a world of touring for the Intrepid Commander and crew. As the kids grow up and move out, you know, there's really not going to be much. My wife has a great job and great vacation and all that kind of stuff, and there's really no reason why we shouldn't be touring the nation, going at least the Prepper shows and then if not, something bigger. Sarah Hathaway and I have talked about what the bigger looks like, and I do like the bigger, you know what I mean, I think and I think that's the future. I do think people are well, well, it's actually the now. It's not even the future. I've got a neighbor, another neighbor that's pretty close to me here, and they go to talks. Him and the wife. They'll get it, you know, they'll get time off of the kid. They'll get the in laws or whatever to watch the kid, and they're off till he watched these talks. He watched it talk about artificial intelligence, and you know what I mean. So it's it's already happening, the real life interaction. The theater is back, baby, except now he can do it a million different ways. So I'm just talking to you today. Is that okay? I'm just it's just one of those It's late on a Friday. I missed the show. This morning, I recorded Red Beacon Daily News three times and got interrupted all three times, and I said, you know what, let's just do this thing. You know, I'm wrapping up the last revisions for my final chapter in my new book, and I needed a bit of a break to catch my breath because yes, I'm a writer, Yes I love writing, but every writer needs breaks, I'll tell you that much the brain starts to melt, it starts to just slog, you know what I mean. So the weekend is here, I'm elated. I'm gonna record my first ever Red Beacon review. All right. This will be over at Red Beacon Media in that podcast, and it's a movie review. It's gonna be on the Masters of the Universe. I watched it a couple of nights ago and had a really great time with it, really like like kind of exceptional, kind of kind of for action movie status. A lot of things we're talking about, a lot of notes people need to take, but I'll get into that in detail. You know, the Red Beacon review is it's gonna be a part of Red Beacon Media. That is outside of It's something we can't do here at PBN. It's I mean, we can do whatever the hell we want, but it just it fits better over there. So that'll be out likely this weekend or beginning of next week. I was really blown away, you know what I mean. I was movies. I've never been good like taking advice from critics when it comes to movies, critics always say a thing about a movie, and I'm always kind of like, if they say it sucks, it's usually great. I usually really enjoy it. If they say it's horrible, there's a real good chance I'm gonna enjoy it. I mean, look at Supergirl. You know, almost no one has anything nice to say to Supergirl. I had one of the best times in the movies all year with Supergirl. I loved it. I thought it was great, you know what I mean? So whatever, you know, whatever, whatever it is, what it is, Prepper Camp coming steaming ahead, right, full steam ahead. I was on a phone call this morning with two guys who are like hyper innovative, man, I mean, like super innovator, and they're gonna build something for you that you're not gonna believe. I'm meeting with the PBN hosts this weekend to uh to brainstorm it. We brainstormed it together on a phone call a few days back. It's been a dream of mine for a while of how to handle these great archives that we have and how to handle sort of the the the podcast content and maybe even more and it just you know, you run into people who know what the hell they're doing, and these guys want to help. And these guys, you know, they're they're preppers. They're really I mean, they're really solid preppers. They're just part of that prepper class that you don't hear from because they're they're I guess they're better preppers than me, you know what I mean. They don't tell the world about it, but anyway, suffice it to say, man, we're gonna brainstorm something likely this weekend and early next week, and I'm gonna put it in their hands, and it's gonna turn this whole PBN podcast listening into a real adventure, you know. And I'm excited. I'm excited. I've been wondering what we do here at PBN and how we do it is pretty unique, and I just always had this dream of turning it into something a little more interactive than just listening to podcasts. And I think we're there. I think we're there. And I think by the time we brainstorm as a as a group and then deliver it to these guys who really know what the hell they're doing, it's gonna be even It's gonna be cooler than anything I can think of. And I think you guys are gonna enjoy it. I really do. There's always something you know what I mean, when you hear from me and I'm telling you about what's you know, the theory of the day, the technique of the day, the prep of the day, whatever the situation is, the sponsor of the day. So the idea that like, I don't know, I just feel like in a moment like this, it's everybody's duty to some degree to reevaluate, like what are we asking of the consumer? You know what I mean? What are we asking the consumer? I had a lot of people, in the face of just this year and the rising costs reach out to me with you know, PBM members and said, uh, I got to cancel the membership. You know, I got to cancel it. Were the wife and I have sat down, we decided we're just canceling all memberships. So it's like, if you're in that kind of position, right, I don't this. This is what I don't understand. If you know the public's in that kind of position, how do you sit down and go like, let's put out a new hoodie for sixty dollars with a really cool design on it, you know what I mean, Let's start like that'd be like me saying I'm gonna start a new website with a new membership and charge everybody that too. Now, if like Redbia Media, I want it to be a place where you can go and you can find a lot of great stuff, you know what I mean, Like just just on the home page itself, you can go there. There's a great new poem up today from Emerson. There's a great new song up. I'm always gonna have a movie up there from Amazon Prime. If you watch that movie, if you stream the movie up there, I'll get like sixth cents or something from Amazon. I don't know what it is, to be honest with you, but it's an affiliate kind of thing, right, because I love movies, you know what I mean. And there's a lot of great movies out there. My son literally, like my son just was asking me about movies, and I was like, you know what, Lucky for you, your dad is such a sinophile lunatic that back when you were about ten, I started creating a list of movies in various categories, and I do. I have an entire document for both my kids to share. That is, you know, all the movies you better watch, comedies, romantic comedies, horrors, action, you know, the real mind benders. The I go through and I bowled all the movies that I've watched like twenty times or more, you know what I mean. And that's the list. That's the list. That's the list that like, if ever you're bored, if ever you're sitting there and you're like I got a free weekend or whatever, like look at the list. Watch some movies. There's some really great ones out there. So, because like I said, I'm trying to give you a lot of me in Red Beacon Media because I just I don't know, I don't want to sound conceited, but like my program is good, do you know what I mean? Like the program I'm on is good. That's the best way I can put it. Like the life program that I'm on and have been on for a long long time is good. It's rewarding, it's fun, it's healthy, you know what I mean. It's I don't know how else to put it. I can only give you a piece of it at PBN. I can't give you all of it because it's just First of all, there's an avalanche of content here and it's beautiful and it's incredible. These archives shows, man, are They're unbelievable to me what we have hiding in the archives. We have things hiding in the archives that like, it's crazy. I don't know how else to put it. You know, I'm not smart enough to figure out like the value, but I can't even imagine what the real value of the PBN archive is. The idea is, the preps, the tips, the whole thing insane, Like if you find it at the right time in your life, it's immeasurable right in value. It's impossible to put a dollar value on it. Right because now all of a sudden, you're doing these things that are like you're growing food, your health is improving, you're doing fitness, you're doing our routines, you're preparing your family, you're putting up the right things, you're learning how to shoot. You like, you know what I mean, Like, how do you price out what that is? It's impossible, you know, there's no price tag for it. But I do want Red Beacon Media to be a place where you can go and shop a little bit. We don't have a bunch of stuff up, but we're going to where you can shop a little bit and leave no consequence, you know what I mean. If if you love it, if you're like, oh, I really want the PBN h membership, once that goes away in terms of PBN family, it'll all exist at Red Beacon Media. But once if you're new and you're not a member, and you're like, I want to I want the fool shebang, right, I want to. I want these all this prepper stuff, I want all this sort of SHTF stuff. I want all the things that Red Beacon Media is doing in the background. The blog, you know, the blog is very personal, you know, just fun. I'll read just some of the blog here soon. But if you want all that stuff, you know, instead of instead of you having to sit there and go, oh, another payment, great, another payment that I have to worry about year over year. We're just doing one hundred dollars flat fee and you're a member over at Red Beacon Media. And that's the end of it, you know what I mean, because that's what I want. I want the end of it. I want the end of it. It's too much in our heads as is, you know what I mean. One time it's a by once cry one situation that you're done right, or you go over there and you shop a la carte and you get you know, you get your hands on whatever it is. I'm hoping that enough people will take advantage of it that it will get the bills paid. But what I will tell you is like that's what I want you guys to feel I want you guys to feel like, Ah, I just went and got something that's sweet, and I got a deal. Man, I got a deal. You know what I mean? I got a deal on something, because you know, it feels like quite the opposite anymore, is what it feels like. It feels like everything that you do, you leave the house, you're like, how much hundreds of dollars do I have? Can I go out? How do I have enough hundreds to go out and eat and shop and right do just like a standard family weekend type thing. It's a nightmare, man. You know, it's a it's a burden like life life out there in the in the monetary world is a it's a nightmare for a lot of people. And I don't you know, I just don't want to feed it.
