Welcome in the Mother of Mayhem, folks. We're gonna get right to it. We got the one and knowingly Keith from the Common Sense Practical Prepper with us this evening. Thanks for joining me, sir, I appreciate you. Thanks for having me. Yeah, no problem. So we are settled in the really in the heart of darkness right central Virginia. I've got the furthest to run to either. Border right ground zero or at ground zero right. On the eve of the Jerry Manner vote. And just for record keeping, this is Mother of Mayhem episode seven, and tomorrow I'll be headed out to the polls. I don't know if you'll be headed out to you, so will as well correct yep, to vote yes for. I'm confused now, it's no, right, it's no. We're gonna vote no. To vote yes for the Serpentine Map. It's gonna rewrite history. Yeah, I mean, we've talked about it at large, but and it kind of seems like a slam dunk. I don't know about you, but I did see a lot and have seen a lot of support for voting no, even in Richmond, which is weird. Driving around Richmond, you know, I've seen a lot of no vote, no signs, things like that. I don't know if it's enough to combat I'm not looking for Richmond to win anything big, but you know, I don't know. Maybe it could be that way through it. Obviously, Northern Virginia will go through out of Northern Virginia and the rest of us will have to fight for our scraps, you know, and see if we can work it out. Yep. Now, if the Republicans and concerned, if they just get off their button and go vote, I think we would be in good shape. But I think there's so many people that are just like, oh, to hell with it. You know what's gonna happen. You know, my vote doesn't count. You hear that all that. You hear that all the time. I can't stand people that, oh, my vote doesn't count. Well, go out and. Vote anyway doesn't count either. That's true, Yeah, Perc, Yeah, it will be. It'll be an interesting Wednesday morning. When do you think we'll find out? You think we'll know tomorrow or do you think we'll have to find votes? Oh? Yeah, yeah, a few votes. I wouldn't put anything past any of these, any of these politicians. But you know, the. Exit one of the polls closed six or seven o'clock. I forget if there's I don't know. Yeah, I don't know if they hold it open for an extra couple hours or stuff. But there'll be the exit polls and all the pundits that go back and forth. And I'm sure this will make national news. I'm sure all the major. Networks all national. Yeah. Yeah, But that's kind of the grossest thing about it all. It's something that doesn't even have to happen. It's literally happening for the twenty twenty eight election and for the what's it called the midterms, right, I mean that's the whole purpose. Yes, yes, now, I will you know, I don't make predictions on this, but I don't want to say it's going to be a blowout. But I don't, you know, I think I think that the yeses might get it, and maybe by you know, eight to ten points. I don't think it's going to be a landslide by any stretch. But I really have no idea what I'm talking about. And it comes to polls, I'm just taking a wild ass guess here. I really I there's a part of me in elections that's always optimistic. But and I look back, I usually do what I'm about to do. I usually say, you know, it feels like we could win yep, And then I look back and go, what are you thinking? So I don't know, it feels good to me, yeah, only because and the only reason it feels good to mkeith is because I think there are a lot of middle of the roads. But I don't. I don't mean that like maybe middle of the road is. Not the right thing. I think there are a lot of people, like conversation we were having before the podcast that who are like, I'm done with this stuff, you know. And I think that people who are in that court or in that camp are looking at this as well exactly what it is purely political strategy that will affect them, not it will affect there in terms of like if if we vote yes and they even if they get a Democratic h ten to one majority in Virginia. I think there's a lot of people sitting here going like, what's that going to do? She's in now? Nothing is nothing got better for we Democrats, you know what I mean, if that's what they're thinking, or we you know, independence, I think there's a lot of people pouring out of either party and just looking at the whole political processing on I don't even want to be involved. Yeah, I think we'll be surprised the number of people, either center or center left that probably say that exact same thing. They're like, look, I get it, we got the governorship, we got you know, both the House and the Senate in Virginia. Yeah, you know what. It's you know, it's I saw an interview today on X where the lady she was a liberal and she and she actually voted no because she said it just doesn't seem fair. You know, six' five one of the more fair maps in the, country and she's, like you, know it just it just leaves a bad taste in my. Mouth, so you, know she you, know she agreed that elections should be competitive as opposed to what a ten to one would be and talk about people thinking their vote doesn't. COUNT i, MEAN i think there's ten to. ONE i don't think anybody on the right will come out and. VOTE i, mean, yeah you, know twenty eight people to, vote, oh my, gosh ten to, one my, gosh they. Would already Feel, LEAH i don't, Know militia ranks would probably swell to be honest with, YOU i. Mean to talk about disenfranchised, voters it goes ten to. One my, goodness it's off the ballot box onto THE ammo box at that point in a lot of people's. Heads i'm, Sure. I'm, Sure i'm sure there are. So, well that's. It you. Know i'm glad you brought whoever the hell that woman was up Because i'll have good dreams over. That, literally just like laying my head down to the thought of a liberal woman saying that doesn't seem, right, Right, yeah she's not enough to give me a smile in. The she wasn't far, left trust, me you, know the the nosering blue hair. Sky, yeah she wasn't all the way over. THERE i, mean she was more left of. Center and SHE i, mean you, know she had half a you, know half a. Brain she was. Used and, Thinking, YEAH i, DON'T i, DON'T i don't like this just doesn't seem, right that's. Fair, yeah, YEAH i there's something about what's in the air politically right, now what's in the, Air, LIKE i don't IT'S i don't know if it's culturally, really but it's it's definitely. Politically there's definitely this apathy across the. NATION i see it ON x a lot with these and they're PROBABLY i, mean they could be built By, russia who. Knows BUT i see this collective kind of malaise that's hitting people Over it's usually something like those, chats and you, know several other benefits that they thought were coming Via trump or. Promises AND i see it on the other side, too AND i THINK i think that there's something of, Brewing, KEITH i think there's something political of brewing in the country if we're, smart, right if we're smart with this, moment because it is clear that you, know Ilhan, OMAR i don't know if you know this three hundred million dollar net? Worth oh, no she she that was a, mistake, right she moved the decimal over too many times. APPARENTLY i, MEAN i do. That all the, time counting. Mistake she's down the ninety five thousand. Network oh ninety five. Thousand, YEAH i made that mistake. Yesterday just moved the. Down three hundred million and ninety five thousand and the. Average and see this is WHERE i think even the, liberals maybe not the, psycholiberals but the liberals who are working for a, living are going hold on like. You know WHAT i, Mean, yeah whether you're left or, right you, don't you, know you. Don't we don't send our folks to to enrich themselves and do all the insider trading Like pelosi and come out multi millionaires after you, know a couple three. Years they only worked one hundred and thirty five days the calendar days in a. Year but, yeah that was. Funny she so potentially she's under. Investigation oh it's just an accounting. Air oh And i'm sure that's just gonna satisfy. It i'm sure THE doj and The Ethics committee whoever's been, like you know, what it happens all. The, time you, KNOW i sure hope, not no, FOUL i sure hope, not because they were asking For LIKE i, said this is this is just the common, theme you know WHAT i, mean it's gonna happen To. NOW i was kind of riding high on her for a little while until that Weird state of The union. Thing you know. WHAT i wouldn't put anything past, HER i really. WOULDN'T i, mean, YEAH i guess the playing field for The democrats is kind of, nightmarish so you're probably right on. THAT i don't even. THINK i haven't Even are they even talking about who to run twenty in twenty, EIGHT i haven't EVEN i guess it's maybe too. Early i'm sure they've got a few. NAMES i GUESS i don't know. WHO i really feel like they're putting some faith In, newsome which is. Unbelievable and in, FACT i seen where was? THAT i seen in a video maybe or an article or. Something it was relatively, legit and it was talking about how Well california is actually being run. Now it was obviously like belly laughter for, me but it was clearly like a propaganda piece that was kind of. Popular, SHOOT i wonder who wrote that The Atlantic Rolling, stone, remember but it Was Daily. Mail i'm not. Sure some reason in my head it was top left, SOMEWHERE i don't remember. WHERE i look at too much stuff in a. DAY i really looked at too much stuff. Today you ever have one of those days where you, like you, know you went too, deep like you went too deep into the, darkness and you come back out of it and it's like clinging to. You that was. Me like for If i'm standing at my kids bas baseball, Game i'm just, LIKE i need to tell the shower the rot is on. ME i can feel. That, YEAH i get you to. Understand it was bad. Man, YEAH i think. That LIKE i, SAID i think it's like a virus right. Now there's a virus of apathy and anger towards all this political, stuff the, war the whole. THING i think people are just, like you. Know where has the where Has ukraine And russia? Gone that has been totally pushed. OFF i mean you're going to read about it because they just blew up a big ass oil field and oh. The drones are. Back, yeah the drones Are i'm just, like and all of a, sudden we're not talking about that. Anymore it Was. UKRAINE i stand With ukraine In, russia back and. Forth and then we got the stuff in The gulf and all the stuff going on IN, dc and everyone's just kind of like forgotten about all the corruption and all the money laundering and everything else that's going on In. Ukraine it is, weird, right how still law center loose and then all of a sudden move. Over, yeah they're still shooting each. Other i'm sure. NOW i did see something, weird BUT i don't. Know it was on X x is so. Bad it's like. You've got to really like get in and get. Out it's like, hell it's like you gotta get. In so many bought so much crape it's. Unbelievable BUT i saw something about A romanian oil field getting. Struck BUT i don't see anything book. ARREST i was gonna Call Dave jones and ask. HIM i don't. KNOW i see nothing about, it so it can't be. But Aaron drone or something like. THAT i don't. KNOW i saw The okay it was it was probably footage from the twenty twenty Five october twentieth refinery. Blast they do that stuff ON x. UNFORTUNATE i, Mean elon did a great thing by BUYING X twitter now x and was able to get a load of get a lot of that crap taken. Off but the moment it became more conservative or more leaning to the, right the bots and everybody just came out of the, woodwork and you're just. Inundated you just don't know if what you're reading or seeing is actually. True it's, horrendous and you just you're just, like did that really? Happen and then. You's, Horrendous but it's simultaneously like addictive as. Well oh you take take, yeah just take ten minutes to fact check what you just. Saw you're, like, oh it was. True, there you, know there goes another ten minutes of your. Life, hey that's part of, it, Man that's part of this growing apathy in the, WORLD i think is this is the fact that we've. Inherited we've inherited like at least three jobs in our day to day life that we never wanted but are now part of our day to day. Life. Yep you, know like can you imagine ever even thinking about fact checking the news back in the, day like the six o'clock evening news being, like, hey that sounds like bullshit to, me that sounds Like russian. PROPAGANDA i remember before, CABLE i remember watching you, Know Tom broke Call Peter jennings and. They've read the. News there was. No, commentary there was no. Opinion it's you, know what's here for a? Mic you, know live From, baghdad you, know bombs fall everywhere and that was it and let's talk to this guy and then another. Piece but now it's it's all, opinion all. Propaganda, yeah that's the. Question does it go to people unplug or do people burn it all down that's what or is it going to be a split society that does some of. EACH i think you have a lot of people that are just they're so gullible that regardless of what you throw at, them whether it's AN ai generated video or video from five years ago that somebody's. REBRANDING i think you have some people that are just so, gullible that are just starving for any kind of information that as soon as they see the first, thing they glob onto it and they retweet it and they go out and campaign for it and scream from the. Mountaintops and BUT i just don't understand why people just don't take a second the fact check or check check another. Source and those people they just they just eat it up and they just the vitriol. Online it just it's just LIKE i, said it's just it's it's, gross you, know. Just ye crust part of, it that's part of the whole. Allure though part of the allure is LIKE i can't go get have me like a nice little war On twitter on my lunch. Break oh, yeah the keyboard warriors is that when you don't when you don't have to, think you LET, x you let the social media you, know bots and everybody think for, you and you just go ahead and just retweet it and oh look at, Me i'm going for clicks and. Stuff and THAT i Guess. I'd love to know what people in a time like, this if we were given the information but not all the, information but not given the ability to, interact what people would put that energy into because clearly getting into A twitter fight to get your point proven about your political stance fills a, void you know WHAT i, mean in their. Lives it feels, like you, know it's a. Thing it's, like OH i did, today. That instant gratification and somebody hits the little heart. Button oh somebody likes, me. Somebody. Yeah if it wasn't for all the social media's people would do what they did twenty years, ago they'd get a, job or they'd work harder at their, job or they'd go mo the, grass or they spend. It they throw play catch with their kids in the, yard as opposed to you, know trying to change the world behind a keyboard or on your. Phone and it's JUST i think that's done on. PURPOSE i think it's just it's. DONE i take a. Lot of, yeah just a lot of just brainless. People it just takes, THEM i don't want to say takes them out of, society but it takes them out of the. Formula they're not they're not, debating they're just yelling at each other back and, forth and it's just a waste of. Time AND i think maybe that's by, design just to keep everybody busy bitching and moaning at each other and not doing something productive with their. Time, WELL i went down a rabbit. HOLE i think you're completely on, point BECAUSE i went down a rabbit hole about waking up the day after we Nuked iran or or did something anything in the future that put everyone in the country in a position where even the, right where we decided we need a new. President AND i, thought you, know that's virtually impossible for the people to come together to kick out a radical, right radical, left radical whatever, president because we've been now trained to hate each other so well that THERE'S i, mean just imagine a, match like if if something crazy happened And Donald trump did something way out of line and we all, decided, like like you, know on the, right people who voted for him even were, like all, right it's time for this guy to. Go could you even gather people together in a, rally you know WHAT i? Mean, like can we even gather together anymore both, sides or would it be, like, hey you want to stop my, abortion you? Pig you know WHAT i, Mean you can't be. Here you got to stand over there on that. Line. Yeah SO i don't, Know but to your, point, yeah, perfect give them a, playground let them fight each, other you, know, perpetually and then we stay in power and do whatever we, want and they just you, know get it more and more angry at one. Another when you look at, that a, hand we'll send The National. Garden, yeah well you look at. Her look At spamberger's proof of. Rating is it thirty? Percent? Maybe is it? Really it was? Tanking they're, like, oh it, Tanked BUT i it. DOES i don't think it matters to, her like you, said unless she has political aspirations down the. Road it makes no difference if her approval rating is one hundred and five or just five. Percent you, know they got they got the house in The, senate they can obviously they can pass whatever they. Want they've proven. That i'm not IF i was, HER i wouldn't be too worried about my my approval. Rating that's a good. Point. Yeah it says she holds a fifty three percent approval rating and a thirty nine percent disapproval rating Among. Virginians this is from a policy opinion research At Roanoke. College so you, KNOW. I never did understand approval versus. Disapproval shouldn't you just say do you approve of what the governor's? Doing? Yes? No one hundred people fifty said no fifty, said, yes you're got fifty. PERCENT i really don't like polling only Because i've never taken a poll in my, life AND i don't know many people who have you ever done? It you? Know you get those calls AND i bet You i've answered maybe five in my entire, Life and Actually i'll always ask them how long is this going to? Take if it takes less than five, Minutes i'll answer your. Questions but if it takes so you've done, poles Then. I've actually answered a. Few. Telemarketer put whatever shows up on your phone might get. Nose i'll give it a. Shot i'd probably it gives me some more some validity to put towards polling data BECAUSE i, literally you, know it's very. RARE i find someone WHO i count on it all who has taken a, poll you know WHAT i, mean in their, Life so that's, good that's a good. Thing but, yeah it's a cross, section you. Know but then you, think, like imagine that is WHAT i. Think imagine the difference between a poll that was a cross section Of america in two thy ten compared to a pole in twenty twenty. Six just the mentality that you know WHAT i mean, like this is a different population, now. You can't you couldn't even ask the same. Questions that's a good. Point, Yeah oh. My, GOSH i, think, yeah the questions from yeah twenty. Ten, yeah for sixteen, years it would not even be would not be relevant at all to today's political. Landscape it's a really good. Point, yeah but that's my, thing you know WHAT i. Mean so it's it's less and less about the like the, politician more about where people's heads are and not this day and, age you, know like we're setting warehouses on fire because business owners make too much. Money it just it's a different. Time, No, no it, is and people are very they're quick to. Act LIKE i, said you, know somebody says, something whether IT'S ai or, real and people they just run with. It you. Know all it takes is someone to you, know like like the thing with the vote, tomorrow you know it's they're framing it is it's all about Stopping. Trump And i'm, Like trump has nothing to do with the elections and the you know in the redistricting that word redistricting or In, virginia but they want to make it about. That what was? It oh who said? That it Wasn't, obama but, someone Oh, Caine Tim kaine said something about we need, yeah we need to put this. Together we need a, commission we need the legislature that will stand up To. Trump i'm, like you got six or five and you, have you, know The senate in The, house AND i, mean what do you stand up to? Him what what you're? Doing? Yeah what is there to stand up? For but that's how they're framing, it you. Know and WHEN i WENT i was going to do some early Voting, saturday went by the main library near The Chesterfield County courthouse and you couldn't park lines out the, door and of course on one side of the side street you had the vote no people and then in about ten or twelve vote yes. People and this was my. OBSERVATION i may have been, wrong But Lucy core nursing, home it's about a quarter mile as the crow flies from where these people were. STANDING i kid you not if there was somebody under the age of seventy five that was holding a, nose that was holding a guest, SIGN i would have eaten my hat BECAUSE i drove by and do, That, like what is it field trip day For Lucy? CORE i MEAN i get, it the First. Amendment you want to stand out with your, signs BUT i. Could there was No there were no young. People it was just a bunch of older folks that look like they belonged to the nursing. Home nursing, home a lot of. That no kings rally like. That. Man, oh people were bust. In. YEAH i couldn't get. In So i'm gonna go stand in line tomorrow because the line was out the door AND i couldn't get a parking. Spot So i'll just remember the polls open. Tomorrow i'll be there waiting in. Line you'll vote with the rest of us regular. FOLK i wanted to watch his. Video. Really oh have you seen it? Already? Oh, People, yeah people are just ripping her very. CLEAR i have already voted, early voted yes on this referendum because what it does is it, says at this moment in, Time virginia is taking the temporary responsive And i'll use your worthily responsible step of pushing back against what other states have done in trying to stack the deck For Donald trump in those congressional, elections and in a temporary, manner we have put forth new. Maps So virginia voters know the map that they are voting. For that's important for. Transparency, yes we, do and these will be our congressional maps until after the next, census when the typical leveling of seats across the states, happened redistricting happens, nationwide then we will return back to our bipartisan. Commission so it is, responsive it is, temporary and a yes Vote i'm. Calling i'm CALLING. Bsr sure that efforts in other. States, well you, know the government they always do things for temporary, Right oh, YEAH i can always trust a temporary measure from the any government, official like income tax for, example. They've got the majority for twenty eight or twenty six and twenty, eight and then if they'll have like a super, majority then they just then they just make it up a permanent you, know amendment to the to The, constitution and they just make. It they make that. REDISTRICTING i got to learn to pronounce it. Work they got. To they'll make it, permanent so there won't be you, know ten to one and oh we don't need to. Vote it'll they'll be done with it and that'll be. It i'm telling, YOU i mean, temporary my. Butt anybody who's buying temporary is either you, know they're drinking the kool aid on, purpose or they're too young to know anything about anybody who's in a governmental. Position oh my. Gosh and again the people who, vote, well it's just. Temporary that's Why i'm voting for. It oh my, lord temporary. Measure, yeah temporary reminds me of another, phrase key phrase in. Politics for the. Schools there's never enough for the. Schools, right you can have you can have a new tax every year for the, schools and you're, like we're doing, it what are we doing again for? Them? Yeah and still some cities and. Counties you, know the graduate graduation rates like fifteen to twenty, percent the kids graduating read it like at eighth grade. Level they just pushed kids through. Anymore so, yeah for. The School, sure for more, fundabals more. Funding. SURE i didn't hear much From abigail about the school situation In, virginia WHICH i thought would be kind of high on her to do. List remember, Anything, no remember anything really sticking? Out no terms of. EDUCATION i don't, recall not THAT i really paid close attention to any of her speeches when she was running for governor but. It was all. Affordability oh, yeah remember her whole her whole stick was. Affordability and then she came and raised, taxes instantly. Raising all the taxes rights. Affordable. YEAH i, Mean i'll tell you what's a good listen if YOU i don't want, to, WELL i could put it. On it's kind of. INTERESTING i read up a little bit on her plan for tourism In, virginia and, uh it's the greatest form of gobbly Book i've ever. SEEN i really still have no idea what her plan for tourism. Is after reading the plan for, tourism increasing, tourism. We haven't we have a problem with. TOURISM i mean we. Have my, gosh you've Got, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Virginia, Beach. RICHMOND i, MEAN. I want to bring up the. VIDEO i just want you to hear the video is an exercise in political. Talk it's not from, her it's not from. Her it's but it's it's so crazy because YOU i scanned ahead in the, video LIKE I i started it and THEN i SCANNED i was trying to figure out what what the plan. WAS i thought it would be something, stupid SO i was looking in all honesty to see like what what it. Was but you'll see we'll scan through the video just briefly and you will Hear garby look of the highest political order like you. Wouldn't, REALLY i don't know who the lady is who did it right and put the video. Together she's part of The Strategic Tourism plan for twenty twenty, six twenty. Seven, okay but it's just one of these things that JUST i don't. Know it caught me off guard BECAUSE i was really. EXCITED i saw the videos here AND i was, like oh, COOL i don't have to read all. THIS i could listen to, this and it just kind of blew me. Away see if the volumes up good. Enough defly about why this plan matters For virginia right. Now virginia's tourism industry is strong and, resilient but we're at a critical. Point travel demand is evolving, quickly visitor expectations are, rising and neighboring states have been heavily investing in tourism as an economic development. Tool who wrote that some sixth grade it's a. Ligne want to keep moving with, currents that they're. Often fragmented and underconnected without new tools and stronger. Recommendation we risk falling behind human wealth and are key to. It shouldn't be. Hard when we look at the tourism, landscape we see strong competition from nearby states states Like, Kentucky West, Virginia. Tennessee you didn't. Tanformative tourism projects Statewide Strategic Tourism plan in full in preparation for reviewing your regional. Plans the state wide plan lays out the necessary foundation for understanding the upcoming regional. Plans this plan is meant to be a living, tool not a document that just sits on a. Shelf implementation requires, coordination, alignment and continued engagement from our partners across. Anybody else's Bring starting to accomplish this no, idea what she's even. Saying nobody knows what she's. Saying this is what is amazing about. THIS i stumbled upon this and just like got a, sheer like let me see what they're up. To and WHEN i hit that, VIDEO i fell into the twilight. ZONE i didn't know we had an issue with. TOURISM i, mean The Flying scroll's got a brand new, stadium. Kentucky derby And derby is what is Dolly land In? Kentucky or is That. Tennessee now It's, Tennessee Dolly, world Dolly, wood Dolly. Wood, YEAH i, mean, yeah. We got to get Them West virginia dollars back In virginia where they. Belong The hollers are just pulling all the cash these. Days. Yeah West virginia not you, know a tourism. Hotbed but we've Got Harper's. FERRY i, mean you, know there's a little civil war going on in The Civil war history up. There But, Hoochia, Kentucky, Kentucky Tennessee, see Maybe North, cakilaki which IS i, mean you're taking your life into your own. Hands you go to a city down there, anymore. Especially, Charlotte, Yeah, charlotte Or Rally, Durham, yeah anywhere down the. Triangle, yeah The triangle is like Research. TRIANGLE i used to Love North. CAROLINA i used to meet people From North carolina WHEN i first moved To, virginia AND i was always, like this is a special. State. Man, like EVERYONE i would meet From North carolina had that great. Accent some of them have that unnecessarily southern accent THAT i just, love you. Know WHAT i. MEAN i would be, like where are you From? Alabama? No North? Carolina oh? Okay.
