Phoenix Survival- advancement, stumbles and repairs.

[00:00:00] .

[00:01:00] Good morning PB

[00:01:22] morning PB enters. This is Jayford here reaching out on another morning of Phoenix survival.

[00:01:29] That is right I am back this Saturday morning maybe a little less rants at the moment, but

[00:01:34] I did want to reach out. So if you saw the title right advancements repairs. I mean that's

[00:01:42] the whole works. So what are we doing to advance our says our independence and our

[00:01:48] stability right so here at our little homestead at Phoenix survival we have already continued

[00:01:55] to grow our garden. We have started it I've got more heirloom seeds coming in and we now

[00:02:02] officially have the eight baby chicks that were in the bathroom out in the yard now

[00:02:09] where does that mean for repairs and advancement we did buy a coop off of Amazon and I can

[00:02:14] tell you this it was less than what we expected not only was it smaller than the measurements

[00:02:21] it was it didn't have a lot of things that I believe that it should have had we are

[00:02:28] having to alter I need to check the group hold on we everything is set and completely

[00:02:38] sealed there's little to no accessibility outside of two doors on there so the big

[00:02:43] issue now is a just in it getting hinges getting everything else let's see who is here good

[00:02:52] morning my listeners it is good to see you in the chat alright me do a quick shout out I

[00:03:01] am trying something new I am actually streaming live on tiktok while I am podcasting I do

[00:03:09] plan on get in my stream yard set up so we can stream it all the way across each of the

[00:03:14] platforms rumble that's right James I am working on being as efficient as tool man

[00:03:20] tell me and everyone else in this group we're seeing how it goes though so far I don't

[00:03:29] think especially would not be able to hear more than just this on my end as you can

[00:03:33] hear fussy baby in the back he is definitely fighting nap time and he then alright so my

[00:03:41] morning individuals when y'all pop in definitely say hi because I do have the chat in the

[00:03:48] background so I can't see it right on my screen at the moment so there has been a

[00:03:54] lot going on the world lately as we know chaos different articles coming out

[00:04:02] different things that are we do honestly live in a world of instant gratification so being able

[00:04:11] to go to the store by what you want immediately be able to pick up anything is our biggest

[00:04:17] downfall we I can't stand up you know so the group chat I'm gonna end this and poor little man

[00:04:29] you can hear him fussing he is so tired two teeth y'all two teeth so you know let me just let me

[00:04:40] just recap so we have the garden right my cucumber I bought in plant I have seed coming in because

[00:04:47] low and behold all the seeds I had are past well past eight we are gonna try a mass sprout

[00:04:55] project in our house we are gonna take all of the old seeds and old you know just a kindergarten

[00:05:02] method of a ziplock bag and paper towels we are gonna spritz those paper towels get them damp

[00:05:09] put the seeds in there put them in the light and see where they go if they sprout we'll

[00:05:14] plan them if they don't okay you know it's check and viability yes some of these

[00:05:19] seeds are quite old but we still want to we don't like give up on anything because I planted

[00:05:27] some seeds from 2019 I can't I think it was the lettuce or the first silly personally I'm not

[00:05:34] 100% certain but one of the sets has started to grow good morning garden girl so great to have you

[00:05:40] so we are looking forward to that and in the sense of we get excited about

[00:05:50] childish projects only because I do have a ton of seeds and some of them like I said life kind

[00:05:59] of threw me a hell of a curveball so some of the seeds just just got left where they were

[00:06:06] and now it's just checking to see what is viable but isn't if it is viable we're gonna

[00:06:13] sorry grab something off the desk we're gonna see how well those items sprout and if we can

[00:06:20] do anything with it so it's we're actually enjoying this little adventure that we have going on

[00:06:28] now after I get off live today with y'all I'm going to be running to the hardware store

[00:06:36] and picking up some things to adjust the coop that we received like I mentioned it was smaller

[00:06:44] than we expected and we read the measurements so we knew it wasn't gonna be large but at the same time

[00:06:52] we just didn't expect it to be smaller yes I could have sent it back but a week with a bunch of chickens

[00:07:02] in our bathroom well you know what will make it work there are some modifications that I can do

[00:07:09] there are some things I really just don't like about the coop and you know what that's to be

[00:07:15] expected there are some parts of it that I do really like I mean it's cute but there is no door on the

[00:07:26] main hutch I don't like that I do like being able to shut the birds in and be able to

[00:07:35] you know let them enclose it at night because it is not the most sturdy thing which we will have to

[00:07:42] figure out ways to reinforce it to keep you know neighborhood critters out

[00:07:49] so I mean this is a new new experience of having a more urban or urban setup than what I am a custom to

[00:07:59] it is definitely going to be something I tell you what

[00:08:01] I did not expect it so I built the coop put the coop together and it was

[00:08:11] it was super windy I did pop on for a live for a very brief second but like I said it was super windy

[00:08:18] well old man was starting to get fussy it wasn't chilly or anything it's just the wind was

[00:08:24] intense all day

[00:08:26] so I am going to go today I plan on so the roof does not lift that's fine there's not a hutch in there

[00:08:35] what the issue is is trying to be able to reach in do two tiny doors to be able to access anything

[00:08:42] is what makes it difficult so I am going to build a very small nest and box to be able to have

[00:08:48] outside at the bottom yeah that is our big one is we've got raccoons well the roof

[00:08:55] oops I didn't mean to hit that the roof is actually pretty secure it's the fact that the

[00:08:59] red without the weight of the roof the the whole coop would move easily

[00:09:05] so for us I am getting hinges to be able to lift the wire cover from one spot up

[00:09:13] but I'm also getting additional locks and I'm replacing the locks that are on them

[00:09:18] so that I can actually lock them we do have

[00:09:24] neighbors with children who find it curious and they do not understand not going into someone

[00:09:32] else's yard I am now at a point in my urban lifestyle here going on three years of having

[00:09:41] neighbors who whose children are now ending up in a our yard so not only do I have to make some

[00:09:47] sort of fortification against critters I also have to make fortification against children

[00:09:55] yeah I'm never I usually didn't have that problem but now that we have even more kids

[00:10:01] in the neighborhood we have the refugees which nothing against them our other neighbors

[00:10:08] kids play with them that's great the only problem is is uh it takes up our yard they are always in

[00:10:18] our yard at times and so I have to pull up something on my end because I here we go my

[00:10:30] goal is I have been looking at some items here on amazon not only do we need to get a

[00:10:36] sensor light I have to add an extra security camera on the side just because of

[00:10:46] yeah just because

[00:10:51] that's what I was thinking this coop is missing a side door sorry I went back to go online to see

[00:10:57] this one does not have the nest in box

[00:11:02] and it also does not have the bottom door open opening that it is supposed to have what

[00:11:10] oh I do not want to have to try to send this back I'm not going to I'm just gonna modify

[00:11:16] I'll do it myself there's there's no point in killing yourself over this I mean I got a coop for

[00:11:23] $130 which is cheap even for a tiny coop because the tiny coops at tractor supply are $364

[00:11:32] I kid you not oh well hello if you learn it works gets the chicks out of our our bathroom and you

[00:11:39] know what it's a start they are just chicks we can expand it and add on to it not a problem

[00:11:47] um garden girl how's it going over at your neck of the woods let's see I'm just trying to find

[00:11:59] I'm trying to find my saved list this is the one I wanted I wanted a this one actually

[00:12:06] kind of reminds me of a tractor one that we did receive there was one I was looking at

[00:12:12] and it was $130 not bad at all has the next nest in boxes but

[00:12:22] I think it was like $90 in shipping and it just wasn't feasible well let's see what is the shipping

[00:12:29] on this yeah $90 delivery and what they have on there I think I could just do myself I can make

[00:12:38] this attachment see this is what's going on in our in our little neck of the woods we are

[00:12:50] we are overcoming adapting

[00:12:57] I tell you what though I didn't realize like when they're in the bathroom

[00:13:02] you kind of drown out the noise but when I finally got them in the coop I'm like wow

[00:13:06] they're so loud and uh Chris even said yeah they're they're they were that loud in the house

[00:13:13] and I guess I just had gotten accustomed to tuning it out let me see where where's my saved items

[00:13:26] wish list or is it safe for later how does this work

[00:13:31] yeah I know how to navigate it on my phone just be told computers a whole different story

[00:13:38] uh pretty good getting ready to head to soccer I started selling some of my extra plant sergeant

[00:13:45] no that is great I mean that's where we're at a lot of us seem to be able to make a little

[00:13:51] extra means by you know selling a few things on the side whether it be crochet plants

[00:14:01] crafts there's nothing wrong with that have you done the have you gotten to a point where

[00:14:07] it's a barter system ever garden girl and soccer I love soccer oh oh is that comfy

[00:14:17] now what is that so for those who are listening yep oh thank you she's sending me a comfy baby

[00:14:27] I love comfy uh melinda lee if you are listening big shout out to melinda lee she has been the

[00:14:33] biggest supporter over the years who has sent me in the past dried comfy and um kombucha

[00:14:41] starters and even my how to make my own little sun up in like y'all are amazing

[00:14:49] I oh it's like that picture of if you send this much a day you adopt this child this is my child

[00:14:58] yes here at phoenix survival we get excited about plants and I don't know too many people

[00:15:04] in pbn who don't so I am excited about that oh I can't wait um you know what I'm gonna be honest

[00:15:15] with you I've looked into comfy I've studied it I have never actually bought comfy um

[00:15:27] here we go safe times this is what I want

[00:15:30] um

[00:15:35] there we go so I was looking at some things online there is actually this pretty decent it looks

[00:15:41] very cheaply made uh solar outdoor lights motion censored and it's $30 right well recently I was on

[00:15:51] a new friend of mine who acquaintance who has horses and the nice little country feel which

[00:15:59] I respect that family so much this woman is amazing who had the same solar lights on the side of her

[00:16:08] barn and I was asking about she said it was the best $30 investment she made and it is

[00:16:14] actually quite bright so I am looking into investing in one of these

[00:16:19] and then also looking at um a security camera I do like this this is awesome

[00:16:31] but no so we are running into well the other day we've got quite a bit of torrential rain I know a

[00:16:37] lot of other places did um Louisiana got a few tornadoes

[00:16:42] James has some work on water procurement you'll need to be paying attention if you aren't

[00:16:51] you know you get on instagram periodically keep an eye out that man does a daily live on instagram

[00:16:58] I'm getting where I'm starting to do daily lives on not daily but um periodic lives on instagram

[00:17:06] um I am looking at slowly shift in my I do have a tiktok looking at shift in it

[00:17:16] to um the prepper and oh they have oh I don't want to pay that much sorry I was looking

[00:17:24] they have an automatic chicken coop door opener with heat in an anti pinch function

[00:17:30] solar powered looks great unfortunately I don't have $130 that I can just spend

[00:17:43] on one of these anyone want to volunteer let me know I mean it looks fantastic it looks awesome but

[00:17:51] realistically that is out of my pocket book that's way too beyond what I'm needed now what is that

[00:18:10] I still like it though okay yeah so I didn't mean to fall down a rabbit hole looking at amazon but

[00:18:18] I think that's what where we're at as and people and preppers not looking at amazon but trying to see

[00:18:25] how we can expand how we can utilize I have been here going on three years we were hoping to have

[00:18:33] moved out of the area this year but some unforeseeable circumstances have occurred and now um we

[00:18:44] are trying to go ourselves at a year one of the members got one of those

[00:18:54] any word on you or so I can ask them about that because it looks interesting I'm seeing a slightly

[00:19:00] cheaper one says farm lights solar automatic chicken door with energy efficient solar timer

[00:19:08] lights since they're in remote I do like the heater one considering there's still quite

[00:19:12] small chicks it's kind of a gamble to put them out but in years past when I had 25 chickens

[00:19:21] it wasn't anything for me to leave the chicks out with the chickens I mean

[00:19:32] oh let's see

[00:19:33] hmm

[00:19:42] in homestead and okay we hop over so listeners who are not on the group chat jump over to pbn

[00:19:50] family take a look at everything on here we do have a group chat in element we sign up let us know

[00:20:02] we'll get you added in and we have groups not groups but um pages specifically titled for certain

[00:20:09] for certain topics

[00:20:16] I don't know I came back across your hot pockets through our pizza rolls well what were those that

[00:20:23] you made

[00:20:32] just the amount of information that is in here and that we all share with each other we

[00:20:38] we enjoyed to any of the listeners who's listened to this record or the download

[00:20:42] hit me up if you're the one who got that automated heated solar chicken door I would

[00:20:47] love to hear how that worked for you it may be something for me to save up to

[00:20:57] might be too big for what I have but I do like the idea of

[00:21:04] being able to at least give them a little more security even if the coop itself isn't as sturdy

[00:21:11] at least that main hutch part is

[00:21:18] I can hear him kicking in the other room the kid is mobile folks he is mobile he has two bottom teeth

[00:21:27] he is trying to stand he is pulling up and standing on everything he acts like he's going

[00:21:33] to start taking a few steps and he's crawling like crazy

[00:21:40] oh what do I miss let's see

[00:21:45] you know what I am going to throw us to a quick commercial because I left my water across the room

[00:21:52] so give me one second and I will be right back

[00:21:56] on the break of blackouts again as power demand reached an all-time record high overnight

[00:22:03] slivers of the golden state plunged into darkness

[00:22:17] point zero energy has given me the american tested american assembled reliable solar backup

[00:22:25] that I've been looking for their titan solar generator is american ingenuity at its finest

[00:22:31] with a removable expandable lithium ion battery 2000 watt hour 3000 watt high efficiency inverter

[00:22:39] so what does all that mean to you it means the titan can charge your smartphone for 88

[00:22:44] hours your laptop for 35 hours a c-pad for 108 hours your refrigerator for 26.8 hours get to

[00:22:52] point zero energy dot com today for the all american solution to backup power

[00:23:01] hello welcome to the podcast present your vaccine passport

[00:23:08] and to your social credit schooler and be sure you have enough for maiming carbon credits

[00:23:16] to enjoy today's show

[00:23:20] pbm family your garden is the resistance

[00:23:28] that's right folks your garden is the resistance I love those bumpers they're great oh so garden

[00:23:35] girl asked how old the little man is he is now eight months old eight months he's been crawling

[00:23:40] since six months um been cutting the teeth for the tooth for quite a while it finally finally

[00:23:47] both of them cut through at the same time let's see so you know it's funny I was thinking about

[00:23:54] that that bumper right there and I saved something I saw on instagram and I'll post it but it says

[00:24:01] the goal isn't Gucci bags and mansions it's a basement full of canned foods and a piece of land

[00:24:07] with a run-in stream that's the goal but I also saw something where it was talking about the

[00:24:12] percentage of during wartime that individuals farmed the amount of their food and now

[00:24:20] in today's time Americans only farm 0.0 or 0.1 percent

[00:24:30] there a 0.1 garden or something like that and it was it was really interesting concept because

[00:24:36] of the fact that we as a nation no longer are self-sustainable or self-reliant where is

[00:24:48] your stability yes we are having a lot of first world problems because well for one um McDonald's

[00:24:58] ice cream machine is always down but two's Joanne didn't get her caramel iced latte frappuccino

[00:25:04] twice whipped with soy cares come on you know it what gets me is we meet people who have

[00:25:17] had been on hard times and we meet people who haven't the number of people I've met

[00:25:24] on both ends of the spectrum some are always for independence and they don't you know they don't

[00:25:32] give any grief but what I run into is the people who why would I do that I can just do this

[00:25:40] who act like they are entitled with a silver spoon which I mean if that's how your

[00:25:45] lifestyle's been and that's what you're comfortable with great great but do not knock people for trying

[00:25:53] to better themselves in a way that is suitable for themselves as preppers as parents as individuals

[00:26:06] as whatever title you want to give yourself the best thing we can do is keep trying I'm on

[00:26:12] year three out here in Rotten Beach okay I've put off certain things I always kept a tiny

[00:26:18] little garden even if it wasn't very um very high in production to the point that after

[00:26:28] after the last turn of events that we had just in the last few weeks alone really solidified that

[00:26:35] pardon my language y'all but fuck this I thought I was trying to hold out so I could wait

[00:26:41] till things were a little more feasible nope waitin's not gonna do you any good we all know that

[00:26:49] life doesn't give two shits where you're at it really does not and I apologize for the harsh

[00:26:56] language but that's what it's gonna be life does not care if you are on two feet staying proud

[00:27:04] with your head up high in a good cushion amount in your pocketbook or if you ain't got a pot

[00:27:10] to piss in it just doesn't so sitting and waiting till you're in a better spot or a better position

[00:27:19] to do things to make things better for yourself is ignorant ignorant okay not calling you stupid ignorant

[00:27:27] means not to know right and feigning ignorance is stupid so here is your piece of knowledge

[00:27:37] life did not stop kicking when I was down life definitely did not take a break when things

[00:27:48] were starting to turn around it just doesn't I'm okay with that that is a part of living we

[00:27:57] are gonna experience some of the biggest challenges and biggest things in our life we all have as

[00:28:03] James would put it our own personal apocalypses we do god knows I've had too many for one person and it

[00:28:14] it's it's kind of scary but at the same time it reminds me that every time I make it through

[00:28:21] one of these events I am that much stronger I am that much well planted towards what I want

[00:28:33] and if anything thinking back on the last couple years on all of the events that have occurred

[00:28:42] and the most recent event that has occurred I'm not going to let it get me down I'm going to

[00:28:49] stop holding back from something that could just be a difference between one or two things

[00:28:57] we live in a neighborhood my my landlord doesn't care if we have chickens

[00:29:01] it doesn't care as long as we don't destroy the place he doesn't care very laid back

[00:29:07] all right we've got neighbors down the road who have chickens we live at the end of a cul-de-sac

[00:29:12] or well basically

[00:29:17] exactly I God bless garden girl I completely understand that you know that's similar yeah

[00:29:27] God bless well you know what I know y'all are still hanging in and you're tough as nails

[00:29:32] and you know what that's I know that's not going to stop him and I know that's not going

[00:29:36] to stop you so see that's just it we all are going through things we all are experiencing

[00:29:41] things that we just want to sit down and cry and cuss and spit and drown our sorrows or however

[00:29:50] you find your outlet I'm going to pick myself up my family we are going to pick ourselves up

[00:29:58] together we are working on this together because that's what we are

[00:30:05] and I am you know being supported in every way possible so if I need to sit down and drown myself

[00:30:14] and so in for the next six hours guess what that's what I'll do because what I'm selling is

[00:30:20] something that could benefit not sitting around sitting on my butt scrolling on hours on end

[00:30:27] just watching TV which sometimes you need you need a moment just scroll and just a disconnect I get it

[00:30:34] but set a time limit for how long you're going to do that I have my garden going I make sure I go

[00:30:42] out there every day even if it's just for a few minutes I sit on the porch even if it's for

[00:30:50] a few minutes say the garden doesn't need to do all right they go sit on the porch

[00:30:53] sit outside for a few minutes take yourself out of that headspace take yourself out of that spot

[00:31:00] for just a moment it's what we do as a family you know yes we have things that have to get done here

[00:31:05] or there are chores that need to be done but sometimes as a family we're just like you know what

[00:31:10] we need to step away for a second and that's what we do but we work on things together the

[00:31:17] garden I'm being supported 120% no questions asked if I come home with a few extra containers because

[00:31:24] guess what I'm growing extras plants of something else no questions asked because he understands

[00:31:34] that what I'm doing is I'm growing one for my peace of mind for my security blanket two it is

[00:31:42] something that we as a family can benefit from and three any excess will be put up we are planning a

[00:31:51] trip to go up to my storage unit to get the rest of my cannon supplies we have my pressure canner

[00:31:57] and my water bather here and my dehydrator so we are looking at grown and expanded on that

[00:32:06] my chickens so we don't have to buy eggs and there's meat I think having something

[00:32:20] that gives you that sense of comfort and you've got that protein there for me there's security

[00:32:26] blankets why wouldn't you even if you have a tiny space like we do have a tiny space eight chicks

[00:32:32] probably a little much we've got a neighbor with quite a few but I really don't expect all eight to

[00:32:39] survive I don't one of them are as show and signs of poopy butt so I'm going to go through

[00:32:47] I've had them all they all work together anyways I'm going to go through clean them all up check

[00:32:52] them treat them the way they need to be treat treat it get them some grit and and watch not all

[00:33:01] chickens ever make it now if all eight make it fantastic will I be surprised absolutely and

[00:33:09] impressed and then a little gray hair but that's a part of it it's it's and what if we lose all

[00:33:17] eight if we lose all eight okay we assess what we did to lose all eight or what may have occurred to

[00:33:23] lose those eight and as he as chris would say we'll replace them because what we are doing

[00:33:31] is not for nothing they're not little pets to hold and and play with and treat like

[00:33:38] they're the family dog no chickens have an important use they can eat the insects they provide meat and

[00:33:48] they provide protein with their eggs there are uses for them everything I'm grown in my garden

[00:33:56] is things that we can eat or use my chamomile is to the point I can start harvesting and drying

[00:34:01] out the flowers and put those up for my some of my tea my eucalyptus is looking amazing

[00:34:09] the lavender is growing my mint is well mint is prolific it's it's always doing great

[00:34:18] I'm now growing lettuces and persiline in the other towered parts of those other plant parts of

[00:34:25] the tower um this week my beans should be in my seeds I'm going to plant all of those and

[00:34:33] I'm actually going to change some things around how I did my garden I put certain plants a little

[00:34:38] closer together than I would like so I am going to incorporate um I don't know if y'all can hear

[00:34:48] them in the background but I am going to put a bean or two in between each of the

[00:34:57] pepper and tomato plants only because those are plants that take the nitrogen out of the soil

[00:35:02] and beans put them back so we are also getting a bag of black cow so it's it's just planning

[00:35:08] what we're gonna do here uh we have looked into some sort of water collection system

[00:35:15] um not 100% sure on how we're gonna proceed with that we're still working on covering the porch

[00:35:20] because of the neighborhood cats because our neighbors does have several cats they left outside

[00:35:28] and one of their cats loves to get on the roof and tries to get in our windows so I can no

[00:35:32] longer open our our second story windows so it's just you know it's challenges life is

[00:35:41] gonna be full of challenges how you handle those challenges what you do makes the difference

[00:35:51] all right so I got a crappy chicken coop it's not crappy it's just not ideal

[00:35:57] so what am I going to do I'm going to make some changes when I get off here I'm going to pick up

[00:36:02] hinges locks uh makeshift door for the the hutch itself some extra short screws so I can be able

[00:36:08] to lift and lock the top uh you know I I've already got my list right here before sure started I

[00:36:14] started making that list so I knew exactly what it is that I'm get I know what it is I'm trying to

[00:36:26] achieve for my family oh thank you garden girl yeah I tried to post on Instagram I need to be

[00:36:33] a little more involved on my my page and I'm trying to be with everything else that is going on

[00:36:39] I think what I'm gonna do I am gonna post the catalogs that I get and from where so people

[00:36:45] can actually see where I order from speaking of which I got my seats good I I don't see anything

[00:36:55] wrong with stuff that anything that I buy as far as seed wise is stuff that we eat and we use so

[00:37:04] it's not like these seeds go to waste the only time my seeds have gone to waste were from several

[00:37:08] years back when that life event life changing event occurred and I I had to move I picked up

[00:37:17] and I started over and I didn't know if I'd have a garden again I didn't know if I would be

[00:37:24] where I would be so this this does it and for those of you who have gone through those events who are

[00:37:33] starting over who live that's startled the stink out of me who who live in small spaces you can do it

[00:37:41] actually garden girl is the one who really pushed me into looking into a grow tower now mine

[00:37:46] is not super big I got it very cheap off amazon actually I think I bought it with the birthday

[00:37:52] gift cards so I didn't have to pay for it speaking of which y'all

[00:37:59] my gift cards in general just I don't know it makes it seems less stressful for me but

[00:38:08] we um you know thinking about it now it's like if I had still been in that condo I think I

[00:38:14] would have put a grow tower on the balcony now I would have had to find a way to have

[00:38:17] weighed it down maybe put rocks in the bottom one just because the winds at that level I've also

[00:38:23] taken a stick and ran it down completely the center of that grow tower so none of the levels come apart

[00:38:31] so I can actually pick up the entire tower and move it whether it's too much in the sun or too

[00:38:36] much in the rain dollar tree has them are they any good from dollar tree you know I'm gonna write

[00:38:41] that down I'm gonna write down dollar tree grow tower you know what for the listeners I may pick one

[00:38:47] up sorry I've got a list right here so when I go tower haha all right so I am going to stop by

[00:38:58] there I will you know what why not I'll I'll pick one up I'll throw a few things in it and see how

[00:39:05] it does and uh yeah it's not a big deal not bad okay take a look I mean it can't hurt I mean

[00:39:16] it's what five five dollars ten dollars I don't know dollar tree now anymore is fifteen

[00:39:21] dollar I don't I think they just announced they were now going to charge upwards of fifteen dollars

[00:39:26] who knows you've got to love mass corporations

[00:39:31] can you all hear him

[00:39:38] where is pappy is pappy in here pappy there you are boo boo hi pappy okay sorry you two are my

[00:39:51] mornings saturday morning individuals and then jay bondy and mad dog is usually in here

[00:39:58] I see where mad dog read a few and then disappeared

[00:40:04] and then but yeah it's it's interesting to see how this year is going to turn out

[00:40:12] uh how the summer is going to go can't control the weather but it is definitely

[00:40:19] interesting we are I am looking forward to growing a bunch of pepper plants and when I mean

[00:40:24] pepper I mean jalapeno I've got some seed coming in for a caroline reaper and another one

[00:40:34] double check I have my screen

[00:40:46] oh I think the baby gave in and fell asleep

[00:40:49] he's been fighting that out uh carolina reapers and an apocalypse scorpion only because with the

[00:40:58] jalapenos um and have that cow peas coming only because I do like to make my own dried peppers

[00:41:10] I like to have that season in for when I want to add just a little heat to something

[00:41:14] and I have in the past tried making my own hot sauce and I want to do it again

[00:41:22] I mean who doesn't like calming hot sauce

[00:41:27] I I enjoy it

[00:41:34] yeah I

[00:41:35] I

[00:41:40] yeah carolina reaper apocalypse scorpion normally I like habaneros um but I didn't

[00:41:49] I don't know I didn't want to overdo it I just wanted like one or two plants with the super hot

[00:41:54] save those seeds and then I'll mass grow them and collect the seeds from that plant

[00:41:59] and then hold on where's my order I've got cow cow they call it cow peas

[00:42:07] purple whole peas black eyed peas black eyed peas is what I know them as let's see

[00:42:17] yeah it's cow peas or purple whole pink eye which they're black eyed peas

[00:42:23] and then on the other one that I had ordered

[00:42:31] on my big order I do have more squash coming in pickling cucumber which like I said I bought

[00:42:37] some plants but I do prefer growing the heirloom seeds it's usually a gamble because the plants

[00:42:43] I bought were much bigger plants but they weren't hardened so I actually have all my pepper plants

[00:42:52] and my tomatoes right now um tied up on bamboo we got some bamboo and I cut them into the shoots

[00:43:01] like I used to do and I have them now taped or taped tied to that I do have Cherokee purples

[00:43:09] what I'm growing out of the plants I've got Arkansas traveler Cherokee purple I've got some

[00:43:14] more rice because I do want to try my hand at upland rice here I love the Amish snap tall snap piece

[00:43:23] let's see uh pole snap green beans American black eye pole llama beans winter squash

[00:43:32] extra garden mix yeah I mean it's what it's about oh I would like to try my hands at some winter crop

[00:43:41] I it's usually gamble when I do this but I did take just a bag of potatoes I I prefer get my hands

[00:43:48] on some organic ones and then plant from there sweet potatoes are super easy to grow I had a bag

[00:43:55] of just plain potatoes that were starting to turn so I threw them in a potato bag covered

[00:44:01] them with dirt going to see if they sprout if they don't no biggie I'll just pull them out

[00:44:06] throw them in the burn pile and then go from there so at least in our house we are actively

[00:44:15] actively doing things we are growing things we are building things we are putting things away

[00:44:22] and organizing our preps and making sure that if there's an emergency we know what the plan is

[00:44:30] communication is the biggest thing in our household we are communicative about everything

[00:44:40] that we're we're doing what we're planning we sit down and we talk as a team and if I get a wild

[00:44:45] hair up my butt I have the freedom and liberty you know to be able to do if I want to change things

[00:44:54] up in the house okay just if you break something call me all right so Lord have mercy

[00:45:00] okay

[00:45:13] sorry just checking everything here

[00:45:17] oh I can't read

[00:45:19] oh but yeah so I mean you see I live in Myrtle Beach and went from big acreage to almost nothing

[00:45:31] I'm still going to make it work our house is not the biggest it's not the smallest either it's

[00:45:37] twice the treat three times the size of the condo I was in but you make it work

[00:45:44] so listeners if you are out there and you're in a small space you don't know where to start

[00:45:49] all right I gotta meet that then feel free to reach out to me or feel free to reach out to PB and

[00:45:54] join the join the podcast join our group chat on element ask questions get and you know become

[00:46:05] engaged get involved there's there's so much you can learn from each other there's a lot

[00:46:10] of things that I don't know that I learned from the rest of the group

[00:46:16] I mean and then these are people I would consider friends people I consider family

[00:46:24] then we have events like prepper camp yep prepper camp check it out prepper camp calm

[00:46:30] best camp ever three days 64 classes not enough time to see all of them some of the

[00:46:38] best people in the world oh I saw James choppin James there we go

[00:46:45] you know this is what it's about so that's kind of like for me last night as I've told y'all I am

[00:46:50] starting to jump across the platforms a little bit more getting out of my comfort range

[00:46:57] range doing lives yes aim into that uh James has actually been my inspiration and probably

[00:47:04] motivator to really push myself a little bit more to to be seen I know I'm heard God knows

[00:47:10] I am one of the loudest women at prepper camp and probably one of the loudest women in general

[00:47:16] not taking anything away from Sarah Hathaway we were introduced as the two loudest women

[00:47:22] hey man so I am reaching out I am uh last night I there was this one lady I have followed

[00:47:30] for several years now who dies and does the acid dies on on yarn and I had an opportunity

[00:47:38] they asked what I did and I told them I teach travel and I teach fiber I've taught at old school

[00:47:43] survival there is another event that's going to be coming up up in Ohio that in 2025 that the

[00:47:51] everyday prepper has been putting together keep an eye out I am excited I will be there

[00:47:58] hell or high water I'll be there teaching or not I have already told him I'll be there

[00:48:04] there are some other great events that happen all across the states look into them

[00:48:11] I you know I got people who are interested because we were in the same fiber group

[00:48:15] and I teach fiber but you know there are other things you can learn at prepper camp at these

[00:48:20] other events you have people who do more than just fiber you have beekeeping self defense

[00:48:27] escape from restraints wine making cheese making soap making and that's not even the bulk of it

[00:48:36] that's barely even tapping into the list of the classes you can find at all these events

[00:48:41] but if you are interested I'm going to tell you right now prepper camp is the place to be

[00:48:50] it will set such a high precedent of what you expect from these events I kid you not

[00:48:59] prepper camp is amazing people food and probably the safest place on earth

[00:49:04] nothing against the other people or the other events I've been to a few other ones and

[00:49:10] and it's nothing against them it was great for what it was but it is not prepper camp

[00:49:14] it is

[00:49:21] yeah I won't say anymore because I might come off me but prepper camp is where it's at

[00:49:24] check it out folks preppercamp.com it's the last uh was it the last weekend of September

[00:49:32] oh no I got a prepper on that I don't want to give any misinformation not on that Rick and

[00:49:36] Jane would have my heiny there we go prepper camp this year is September 27th 28th and 29th

[00:49:47] tickets are on sale the prices continue to go up until the event is sold out

[00:49:55] prepper con 2018 was fun nothing on prepper camp right great exactly I've gone to um

[00:50:03] survivalist conventions and prepper conventions when we had them in Memphis before that whole

[00:50:09] area through a whole conniption fit about there being guns and stuff yeah that was stupid um

[00:50:15] and I used to go every year for my birthday that's where I met Dr. Bones and nurse Amy

[00:50:20] in person great people have had them on my previous podcast when I was a family affair

[00:50:26] and don't get me wrong those events are great but you know look into it camp in food people

[00:50:33] vendors I mean you're not going to get this kind of camaraderie and everybody comes from

[00:50:40] every different walk of life I mean it I mean it's it's something

[00:50:48] all right let me see and and this is probably you know it's funny James I'm gonna shout out to

[00:50:54] we were talking about this last night about prepper camp specifically and we were talking about how it

[00:51:01] was probably the only place where we were comfortable enough that the Latin people hold our son

[00:51:12] you know for him you know that was his second year my fourth fifth year I don't know I've

[00:51:17] been going for a while and it's funny because people know you at prepper camp you become like

[00:51:26] family even amongst all these dozens of faces that if Jane or James or um Paul and Cameron or some

[00:51:35] of the workers there want to hold my son and walk around I trust them I know these people I know

[00:51:41] them like family that they hang out with us they communicate to us these are people I talk to

[00:51:48] I wouldn't say on the daily but on the regular we talk we we talk quite a bit actually

[00:52:04] sorry I was checking the page there's probably no time to update my profile picture on there

[00:52:08] because

[00:52:13] oh look at Sarah okay see you know folks check it out you get to see the host you get to to talk to him

[00:52:24] I mean great people great things all right I guess I need to get off that bandwagon but I stand by

[00:52:32] completely James what's going on at the uh Walton homestead anything good

[00:52:41] I need a drink of water so say some

[00:52:50] oh so I think I mentioned it briefly before I have been making drop bags I did make one and

[00:52:58] showed it on one of James's live which uh Jay Panetti one of our followers oh I'm drinking water

[00:53:08] he's drinking coffee alone nah you're not alone you've got all of us to bug you

[00:53:14] and he said it was well made I'm waiting on to see some oh I want to go fishing it's still too

[00:53:21] windy and a little too much of a chill here at this morning tomorrow's supposed to be real nice

[00:53:27] so we're gonna head out early oh is that a crappie or no

[00:53:36] that's not a crappie is that a crappie or is that a perch that's not perch

[00:53:44] I can't tell what is that James

[00:53:48] I don't know it's food I wouldn't be mad over catching some fish

[00:53:52] a

[00:53:56] lar mouth it looks very similar to a crappie except the coloration so that's why it threw me off

[00:54:02] huh

[00:54:07] large never heard of it large mouth oh oh well that's why a large mouth us

[00:54:14] I feel okay though thank you see this is what happens when you don't have coffee or caffeine

[00:54:25] I was going somewhere with a point and I forgot it oh well I mean that's that's me on

[00:54:30] Saturday mornings you're gonna get me either riled up because of stupidity or you're gonna

[00:54:36] get me on a random train where squirrel or as papi would say butterflies or you're gonna get me on

[00:54:45] a moment where I'm just so hyper fixated on something else that's just what it is PB and

[00:54:52] R's I appreciate y'all every Saturday morning when y'all come out here and jump in the chat

[00:54:59] jump into the chat and speak with me while I'm on live I do plan on like I said putting out

[00:55:05] more content I'm trying to get my stream yard set up so I can do this across the board

[00:55:12] so I can post on rumble I have that account set up looking at trying to change my TikTok over

[00:55:25] I'm here man I'm not going anywhere I I don't think even with some of the hard blows that life

[00:55:34] through that I would stop I took a small break I felt like on podcasting a prepping didn't take a

[00:55:43] priority and I realized that was the problem it is time to get back to to what it is all right

[00:55:51] garden girl have a great day at soccer can't wait to find out how that goes I am actually going to
