[00:00:33] Chapter 40 The bird's chirp peacefully in the tree outside as the first rays of sunshine blasted
[00:00:41] through the room. Cole's outstretched arm was wrapped around Cassidy. He pulled her into himself,
[00:00:48] snuggling with her tightly. Her beautiful brown eyes looked into his smiling softly at him.
[00:00:55] Kissing him she declared, thank you for the wonderful evening major Burgess. She rolled out of
[00:01:01] his arms and stood up grabbing her camouflage pants. But I'm afraid I must press on. Cole watched
[00:01:08] her dress admiring her beautiful form. Where you headed he inquired. Back to check on my dad. He's
[00:01:15] supposed to be leaving to plead a case in front of the federal governing board she replied,
[00:01:20] pulling her shirt over her head. Cole rose from the bed down in his uniform. Landowner dispute.
[00:01:27] She snatched her hair up tying it back in a ponytail as she answered. They want to build the
[00:01:32] western wall across his property and make the landowner a refugee in the process. Let's messed up.
[00:01:39] Exactly the kind of BS my dad is trying to set straight. She preached as she looked at her face
[00:01:45] in the mirror. Cole smiled widely at her. He was still and off her passion. Good luck he told her
[00:01:52] as she approached. He opened the door for her and they went into his office. Take care major
[00:01:58] Burgess. She declared kissing him one more time before leaving out the door. Chuckling to himself,
[00:02:05] Cole went to his desk to review today's schedule. He could hear Cassidy lingering outside the door,
[00:02:11] engaged in conversation with Chappy. Within moments the door knob turned and Chappy entered.
[00:02:17] She sure as perty in the morning sunlight looking at his paperwork, Cole smiled slightly replying
[00:02:24] and still just a zonry. What do you got for me Chappy? The community leader from Empire is here to see
[00:02:31] you. Cole looked up surprised by the visit. The free town on the north he wondered. That would be
[00:02:37] the one sir Chappy concurred. Show a man Cole said rising from the chair and heading to the door
[00:02:43] to greet the man. Chappy opened the door right in here sir. Good morning. A major Cole Burgess
[00:02:49] Cole greeted the man as he entered. Shaking hands with Cole the man responded,
[00:02:54] A's Douglas thank you for seeing me. Thank you for coming down. I wasn't sure if you could make
[00:03:00] the trip but we have our hands full with the West right now. A's his brown hair hung below his ears
[00:03:07] and his eyes were as dark as his hair. His skin was a darker olive color and Cole had difficulty
[00:03:13] placing his hair at his edge. Is it true that radiation has hit the coastline? A's wondered as he
[00:03:18] entered before answering his question Cole instructed, please have a seat. A sat on the edge of his
[00:03:25] chair. Cole thought he didn't look like a man who often sat still long. It's true Cole told him
[00:03:31] answering his question. We have to get these people clear or they'll die. We've lost too many
[00:03:37] already. Tough situation major A's agreed with a sad look. He perked up declaring, let me assure you
[00:03:44] that our community is holding tight. We have adequate defenses, a makeshift hospital,
[00:03:49] our schools going and an orphanage for all the parentless children. Very impressive. I understand
[00:03:55] the town of Girlock is very close to empire Cole commented. Remembering the large amounts of
[00:04:00] machine shops he had seen there. It is sir. The two towns have pulled our resources and almost all
[00:04:06] of our citizens are occupying empire now asinformed him. How does your food supply look Cole probed?
[00:04:12] We're doing our best to self sustain but I'd be a liar if I told you that we didn't need some
[00:04:17] staples like sugar and salt. Cole sat thinking about what could be done with these people.
[00:04:24] The refugee camp down south is crowded and willing to give your community a chance
[00:04:29] to continue to stay free and survive independently. I was hoping you might feel that way A's declared
[00:04:36] breathing a sigh of relief. I can't guarantee a timeline on the supplies but it would be helpful if
[00:04:41] you had something we could use Cole replied. Our rations are obviously pretty tight,
[00:04:46] A's commented doing a mental supply check in his head. You got a lot of trucks around here. How's
[00:04:53] your mechanic crew looking? Then we need all the people we have to compose our squads Cole replied.
[00:04:59] We have a large group of mechanics in ample warehouse space. We could set it up to service your vehicles
[00:05:05] A's suggested. Best offer I've had in a while. It's a bit of a trek to get up there. How many
[00:05:12] mechanics do you have Cole said with a smile? I can count 20 amongst my people right now and we
[00:05:17] could train more. I need an onsite emergency crew of five. You can rotate them out on a monthly
[00:05:23] schedule. The vehicles can go up to Empire for routine maintenance Cole stated. I think I can get
[00:05:29] my people to agree upon those terms A's confirmed. I'll supply the materials for the vehicles,
[00:05:34] a trainer for your fighters and try to get some of those extra supplies you requested Cole assured
[00:05:39] him. Sounds like you got yourself a maintenance facility A's declared standing up to shake Cole's hand.
[00:05:46] On another note, you said you have an orphanage Cole question. I did. You got room for one more
[00:05:52] Cole wondered we do. You got someone to mind? We rescued a little girl a few days ago. Come on,
[00:05:58] Cole told him. Rounding his desk and heading out the door. Cole led Ace across his base towards
[00:06:05] Delores's place. Although he tried to hide it, a scowl curiously adorn Ace's face as they entered
[00:06:11] the club. The music played loudly in a scantily clad woman adorned the stage. Cole walked towards
[00:06:18] the back where the music quieted. Jennifer Janson, a beautiful woman in a red dress line with black
[00:06:25] approached with a small smile. Her haughty attitude attracted Cole. Her position as Delores's first
[00:06:31] lady attracted him as well. She chose her partners and no one else. What brings you by today?
[00:06:38] Her voice floated on the air like the perfume that she wore. Where's the little girl we brought by,
[00:06:44] Cole inquired? You mean Alexis? Jennifer asked shortly? Cole looked at her curiously. She spoke
[00:06:51] only to Delores. Jennifer declared sassy. Not going to be made a fool of him in front of Ace
[00:06:58] Cole snapped. Where is she? Jennifer lifted her eyebrows at Cole's response quickly replying
[00:07:04] in the back with Delores. Who's this fine gentleman? You in need of some entertainment? Jennifer looked
[00:07:11] at Cole as she advanced towards Ace. Ace laughed quickly, suppressing her advances. He teased,
[00:07:18] I would be if my Jamie wasn't such a jealous woman. Luckily my woman isn't jealous,
[00:07:23] Jennifer responded, leading the men down the hall. Delores knows her business too well. She
[00:07:30] opened the door to Delores's office. And that's how you write your name. A-L-E-X-I-S.
[00:07:40] Alexis. Delores finished the lesson with Alexis as they entered. They sat at Delores's desk
[00:07:47] with a box of colored pencils and a pile of paper. Cole felt ashamed for interrupting,
[00:07:52] but if Ace could make sure she was taking care of, maybe that was the best choice for this child.
[00:07:57] He blurted out, good afternoon Delores. Major Verges. What brings you by? And who's this?
[00:08:03] Delores asked politely. This is Ace Douglas. He's the leader of the Empire community.
[00:08:10] Del remained a free town and take charge of our vehicle maintenance. They have an orphanage there,
[00:08:16] Cole stated, looking at Alexis. And you want to take Alexis there, Delores asked?
[00:08:21] It's a good opportunity for the girl to have a home and go to school. Cole said optimistically,
[00:08:27] Delores's face looked cheerful and she agreed. Sounds like an excellent opportunity in a free town.
[00:08:34] What do you think, Alexis? I don't want to go. I want to stay here with you, Delores.
[00:08:40] Alexis said, panicking. Cole lowered himself to the girl's eye level and spoke softly to her.
[00:08:47] There would be other children for you to play with. Alexis looked at Delores reaching
[00:08:51] towards the woman. She pleaded, Delores, please don't let them take me.
[00:08:56] Delores's eyes met Verges'es. She replied flatly. You heard the girl, Major. She wants to stay.
[00:09:02] Ace rolled his eyes at the interaction and rejecting. Are you sure a brothel is the best place
[00:09:08] to raise a young lady? Deeply offended, Delores rose from her chair, snapping back. Mr. Douglas,
[00:09:17] I can assure you that my business is much more than a brothel and all my girls are impeccably cared
[00:09:23] for. Immediately backpedaling, Ace retorted, I didn't mean any offense, ma'am. I just meant
[00:09:29] that there are probably not many children around here and she could be raised. He paused,
[00:09:34] searching his mind for an appropriate word differently. Don't assume what you don't know, sir,
[00:09:41] Delores insisted. You can take your offer and shove it. It is out of my respect for Major
[00:09:47] Verges that I don't throw you out of here right now. Delores's guard that stood outside the
[00:09:52] door had already opened it and Ace was inching his way towards it. Cole stood up fast declaring,
[00:09:59] I respect your decision, Delores, and it's obvious what the child wants. Please forgive our
[00:10:04] intrusion. We'll go now. I think that would be best, Delores agreed. The two men exited Delores'
[00:10:10] place walking back towards the base. If the girl ever changes her mind, let me know, Ace told Cole.
[00:10:16] Delores is a strong leader. The girl will be well cared for. Cole assured him.
[00:10:24] On the break of blackouts again, as power demand reached an all-time record high overnight,
[00:10:29] slivers of the golden state plunged into darkness. Some say it's an expect to continue with stage 6
[00:10:34] rowing blackouts. Will the risk of a schedule outage on Thursday? But the one that happened Sunday,
[00:10:39] it wasn't scheduled. It was unexpected and it lasted longer than a day. Point zero energy has given

[00:11:41] Hello and welcome back to the changing Earth podcast. This is episode number 439, season 15 episode 40.
[00:12:09] Hey, Chin, what's up? Hey, Chin's up y'all. Chapter 40 of Virgins.
[00:12:16] Please. I know. That's 60 chapters long this book. I don't lot of content. So it's a broader
[00:12:26] you're right. You're right. That's what I do. It was actually interesting turning because this is
[00:12:33] all material based with some additions, you know, to expand the story from the audio drama. So
[00:12:41] as an interesting exercise to turn the script into a novel. So I think that's why it has so many
[00:12:49] chapters because it's like scene, scene, scene. All right. So I've been doing a dabbling with some
[00:12:57] YouTube shorts over there on the YouTube channel. What's going pretty cool? I love those little
[00:13:04] shorts. So if you guys have short ideas, go ahead and let them, let me have them. I have some
[00:13:10] clips of me teaching self defense and prepper camp so I just can fog people out of the background
[00:13:16] because I don't want to share anybody that was that prepper camp, you know. So I could just fog
[00:13:20] people out of the background and then put that those out. But yeah, suggestions. Welcome. I
[00:13:26] put I did a scene one. It's pretty cool but it was a lot of work for a minute long. So I'm like,
[00:13:36] don't know how much that I'm trying to like streamline the workload here because the audio drama
[00:13:43] season four is just going to be epic. And speaking of season episode 14, a season three is up
[00:13:51] and the end of this season is just incredible. So I can't wait here guys this feedback kind of
[00:13:57] you guys check it out. Episode 15 is up for subscribers to the podcast. They get the one week
[00:14:06] before pre screening I guess and it's a commercial free version. So become a subscriber,
[00:14:13] you get hooked up with that and then also head on over to my YouTube channel, give it a like,
[00:14:18] give it a subscribe and hit that notification bell and that way you can see when all the new
[00:14:23] both of my podcasts come up there. And I love listening to the audio drama there because it
[00:14:29] literally saves like where you are in in the episode. So you can just like come in and out
[00:14:35] listening to it so much easier than any other platform that I've had it on. So I'm really happy
[00:14:42] about that. I actually linked my site over there now. So if you go to my website and click on
[00:14:49] the episode, it's going to take you right over to YouTube. Yeah, it was really cool and they got
[00:14:55] a good system going there. So Doug designed the cover for season four of the audio drama. So you
[00:15:06] never guess who's front and center on that one. I had an idea he's like, yeah, we could use that
[00:15:14] or or so no that he always does great artwork. So yeah, we'll introduce that soon.
[00:15:26] Let's see. And the Virgis story he came home with Alexis, they found her out down in Southern California.
[00:15:33] He wakes up while snuggie with Cassidy. The birds were chirping. Yes. Sunshine. Oh my goodness.
[00:15:45] It's a good morning for Virgis. It sounds like a commercial. Right. And then ace Douglas comes.
[00:15:55] And there's all these free towns that still exist out in the badlands. So I wanted to craft, you know,
[00:16:02] what kind of the story was behind what's going on with those towns. So everybody kind of has something
[00:16:07] of value that they're trading so that they can get supplies and whatnot and so he fits into that
[00:16:14] that picture. That's going to bring us into our topic today which is bartering. No, and I know we've
[00:16:24] done this before. I've watched so much information on bartering and whatnot. And I stumbled
[00:16:31] upon a cool article today at tactical.com backslash bartering guide that sent my brain just like
[00:16:41] in a totally different direction than what they have. And then I really thought of before. So
[00:16:48] that's what I'm so excited to them. So excited to talk about bartering which is
[00:16:54] like we were talking about it in the green green room kind of in my opinion,
[00:17:01] like how did you put it? You put it so eloquently. Never. Yeah, like a fantasy,
[00:17:09] a proper fantasy type thing romanticizing. Yeah romantic. Yeah romanticizing the barter.
[00:17:16] I totally agree. For one thing, okay well we'll get into it. So first thing that they mentioned
[00:17:25] at the tactical.com is like doing your research. What do you know about the other groups needs?
[00:17:33] What are they looking for? And that made me really think about okay every time we're in a situation
[00:17:40] I've been trained to go into the most which is your mission, your operations, strategy, tactics,
[00:17:47] tools and techniques. And you can find that on my website in the go-to-the-learning guide
[00:17:54] and go to survival basics. And then I have the acronyms there. And it defines out like a lot of
[00:18:02] the specifics about the most. I've talked about it before not going to go into it today. But it's
[00:18:07] basically a walkthrough of like who what where when why how when it comes to survival.
[00:18:14] And so at the same time as you're thinking about your strategy, you got to be playing chess
[00:18:19] right and thinking about their strategy which was really cool to me especially as like a fighter
[00:18:28] you know because you're always doing the counter play counter rolls attack defend right so how does
[00:18:34] that work. And if you're not thinking about that, you're probably not even going to get the best
[00:18:41] deal because maybe you have something that you don't even see is that much value but once you
[00:18:47] analyze their situation you're like oh this is what they really need. And you're going to have to stay
[00:18:53] like alert and pick up on cue it's not going to like you can like Google this other person or
[00:19:02] this other family or this other town right you know or you know read the news clips or I think
[00:19:09] you're going to have to pay attention when people are talking passing through or when your
[00:19:15] in town buying supplies or getting supplies or you know you're going to have to listen. Yes
[00:19:23] that's one of the things like so important don't just like discredit they're babbling at you
[00:19:28] you know right because you might pick up little nuggets yes like you were saying they might be
[00:19:35] having problems with water and you might have a whole bunch of empty watered milk jugs which
[00:19:42] that might be the container that they need but if you weren't paying attention
[00:19:47] you might never use those milk jugs as a bartering item. Exactly you'd be thinking of something
[00:19:52] maybe of yours that's more value or something. Yeah right yeah so you know I got a camel back thing
[00:19:58] well keep that for yourself and give them the milk jugs. Right no it's true and you might think of
[00:20:05] you know you're like this is something that's really valuable to me that I need from them
[00:20:11] so I'm going to give them something valuable of mine which would you pursue to be valuable to you
[00:20:17] but if you're not analyzing their situation they might not even need that thing
[00:20:22] and it's not a value to them so then you're going to get worked over on your deal. Right
[00:20:29] um one of the next thing they talked about was clear expectations so visualize the encounter first
[00:20:37] like think through like when athletes do that right before I go into a fight or whatever yeah
[00:20:43] yeah I'm thinking about like this is their style this how they move this is what I'm going to do
[00:20:49] now is that going to happen you don't know but um you got to have that that moment of
[00:20:56] visualization first all the good runners racers NASCAR drivers when I'm on lap 100 million
[00:21:09] um and then they were talking about listening you know making sure you're listening
[00:21:14] um don't be dishonorable you'll never make it to that second trade right you have no idea how they could
[00:21:24] like you know bring retribution back on you so be upstanding and don't try and be the shasty one
[00:21:32] um and then being sold here yes right no um and then set guidelines and deadlines so having
[00:21:46] deadlines make sure that people are going to come through with their end and then clear agreements
[00:21:52] right you got to try to avoid any kind of uh you said this I said that have witnesses you know
[00:22:00] signed agreements I don't know about all that in an SHTF situation but uh witnesses work well
[00:22:09] that's why they used to talk about like two witnesses always in the bible because that was the best
[00:22:13] you had so um and then they start talking about the items of value and what you could trade
[00:22:24] so I'm just going to caveat this because to me having skills and knowledge
[00:22:32] is way more important than having any kind of stuff including stuff to trade
[00:22:39] you had a great lapel moment for me in the green room when you talked about honey
[00:22:45] yes because if you have all these bottles of honey on the shelf to trade great so I'm going
[00:22:54] to take your honey from you but if you are the beekeeper with the hive who knows how to process
[00:23:01] and get more honey now you are the important individual right you're actually the commodity yourself
[00:23:10] which keeps you and your family a lot safer right because I'm always thinking about okay uh
[00:23:16] you know somebody there's the law of large numbers so if you're a group approaches you
[00:23:25] and they have that many more right yeah I mean unless you have like really superior fire power
[00:23:35] you know and defensive capabilities but um even still law of large numbers cannot outrun that
[00:23:42] so you better make sure that you're valuable to them or else I just take your stuff
[00:23:50] and make yourself valuable in ways that aren't gross
[00:23:55] so all right so food was the number one barter item they talked about was food and well I agree
[00:24:07] I totally agree because food is power look what's happening with all the farm by ups and things
[00:24:12] corporate power right yes start your cricket farms up now yes start your
[00:24:18] cricket and then roach milk it's got to but if you have food you're also the highest value target
[00:24:29] around like if there is a group of people doing bad stuff in the area guess who's going to be on
[00:24:38] their number one hit list mm-hmm like you don't want to be out there being like I got food to trade
[00:24:44] let's trade some food no like that's bad idea my book um and that was really the epiphany
[00:24:51] was like okay great you might have the best bartering item there is but how attractive does that
[00:24:59] make you to the bad guys uh-huh yeah and I never really thought about like in that aspect before
[00:25:06] it's mostly because of this food stuff um you know with honestly with the corporateization
[00:25:12] of the farmland you can just see everybody always says the money and the power the power and the money
[00:25:18] right it's really the power and the food the food and the power well it's what is money
[00:25:27] what is the item that's of value right I mean yeah the food could be the
[00:25:35] the item of value the money quote unquote I agree and I think when it comes down to like nuts and bolts
[00:25:45] if money wasn't you know even a value anymore because it's a collapsed type scenario
[00:25:52] then the food is going to be more important so hide the food don't let them know that you have it
[00:25:57] I wouldn't okay number two on their list was about fire starters
[00:26:05] and honestly I think they had the fire starters there more it's just like a commercial
[00:26:10] for the fire starter that they're promoting which is fine everybody's got to get their
[00:26:16] their income but um what about big lighters like just stocking the hell out of big lighters
[00:26:26] they're so cheap and they would be so useful um and we've talked about like the big lighters good
[00:26:35] the flint the gas that they it runs out of gas you still have the flint in the striker so you can
[00:26:39] still use it beyond that the that flint will power a zip-o it'll power up yeah so like I'm not
[00:26:46] so sure about having the fire starters but big lighters and like is a gang going to come and and
[00:26:52] attack you for your stash of big lighters maybe it's more likely it's a good bonus right yeah
[00:27:03] like a bonus to whatever they're doing in the first place but like if you have food they're
[00:27:08] going to come after you if you have big lighters probably not going to be that attractive to like a gang
[00:27:13] but also still a very good buyer barter item that's just ease of life at that point I really like
[00:27:23] the personal care supplies also because high it's a it's an item that people are going to need
[00:27:32] right it's kind of a high value item but not a high target item so learning to make soap
[00:27:41] if you know how to make your own soap you're also everybody needs soap and you can have a lie yeah
[00:27:52] yeah um who's the guy that does the soap class of prepper camp flutter loved it his class
[00:28:01] he was all about first literally like to because it was his boss on the parkama
[00:28:06] haha he was brown nose in brown nose it yeah um but I was thinking like the tiny toothpaste
[00:28:15] I always save all my little tiny toothpaste yeah I got a huge bin of those
[00:28:21] and that would be a great little barter item but I don't think I'm gonna get mugged for my tiny
[00:28:26] toothpaste you know but great little barter item I mean being able to give somebody a little
[00:28:34] dental kit yeah right yeah because people talk about like my survival instruction like oh you can
[00:28:42] use this stick with this and that and I'm like what dude uh yeah I could or I could just put a
[00:28:54] toothbrush in my bag so um yeah well there's all kinds of great stuff there though but that was
[00:29:03] another one I thought was a really great item not a very high okay uh the other one is condoms
[00:29:10] so I don't think we really need to go into why but again like I don't think you're gonna get like
[00:29:16] hey man I heard that you know half a ways have a stash over there you know
[00:29:22] so well you know the ladies might want to make sure I know yeah the female gang will be at you
[00:29:31] you're feminine hygiene products oh that one as well feminine hygiene products and the condoms
[00:29:37] they're like yeah we're after that um feminine hygiene products though are obviously awesome to
[00:29:46] stock for multiple reasons because they have multiple uses even if you're a dude and they're also
[00:29:52] gonna be sought after as supplies and like I said maybe a gang of girls is gonna come after you
[00:30:01] they're like we can have we can be set for tonight those like the movies that you
[00:30:06] yeah yeah we could write that movie like your cake oh yeah it's all the chicks they're all in a town
[00:30:15] I heard you have samples in this town yeah okay um next to
[00:30:25] you I'm just gonna work sorry James um next one I'm gonna kind of group in because it's like
[00:30:37] one and the same blankets and clothing yep so both highly highly useful for obvious reasons um
[00:30:48] you can stop clothing like we always save instead of just giving it to goodwill we have like
[00:30:53] boxes all clothes and stuff for specifically for that reason but um
[00:30:59] uh if you know how to make it like miss Jordan or she's ready the warlord exactly with their talents
[00:31:09] and yes weaving stuff and knitting all that whatever she does the magic so again this is a stuff
[00:31:17] versus capability issue if you know how to produce clothing you as an individual are more important than
[00:31:25] just a clothing stash that you have stashed up yeah again not something that I would like
[00:31:33] you know maybe the gang need some new clothes I mean maybe but I can guarantee they're gonna want
[00:31:41] your food yeah I can guarantee they're gonna want they might rifle through a pile of blankets you
[00:31:47] know to get to the uh Cheerios right exactly exactly so um I don't even have ammunition on the list
[00:31:57] actually you know uh because yeah well all might fill you know off the boat so right
[00:32:05] that was a horrible accident I know did you see the map of all the boating accidents that have happened
[00:32:15] crazy I'm not a person so bad it's awful telling you um tea and coffee
[00:32:25] so I don't know a person who's gonna barter away their coffee first of all like I'm keeping that
[00:32:31] the coffee is too valuable right I have keeping that um so obviously a great reason to have it however
[00:32:40] um to barter with however like if you don't drink it all first I'm thinking that people might get
[00:32:46] desperate enough to come after you for your coffee it's one of those items that like
[00:32:53] I put it up there almost with food like right underneath food oh they had talked about um water
[00:33:02] filters as well I didn't even put that on my list because there's so many ways to teach somebody
[00:33:10] how to filter water without having a water filter water filters are great you're gonna make the
[00:33:16] job so much easier but there's a lot of ways to get that done without having a water filter
[00:33:23] and again I would rather possession knowledge over stuff so like but you couldn't make water filters
[00:33:30] yeah yeah use them as a tricky item exactly mm-hmm and it's more likely that they're not going to want
[00:33:38] to eliminate you because you know how to make those water filters and give clean water to the group
[00:33:45] so that again raising the value of you um alcohol again you're gonna stock alcohol the
[00:33:54] barter as soon as people find out where your stashes you are gone but if they know how to
[00:34:02] if you know how to make the alcohol you know life of the party you the game just changed now
[00:34:13] you're like one of the most important people in that group besides somebody who can feed them you
[00:34:18] know or heal them um so yeah I was thinking instead of like stocking alcohol if you know how to
[00:34:27] make alcohol and you have the um parts to build other distillers this you know distillation you
[00:34:36] of the yeast that kind of thing you can sell it's the price to get for aspirin right
[00:34:43] right but border the alcohol yeah but again you got to make yourself value at the same time you have
[00:34:53] to be the doctor with the aspirin or else why wouldn't they just eliminate you and take your aspirin
[00:35:01] because they're drunk and hung over they're not gonna be a good shot
[00:35:07] that was my realization dude I was like okay that gives me a totally different outlook on
[00:35:13] bartering yeah really does um duct tape again so useful but like we're gonna come take you out
[00:35:25] give us all your duct tape zip ties too oh yeah yeah zip ties I like that one
[00:35:34] yeah yeah okay medical we just trying to talk down it right yeah learn the medical yourself don't
[00:35:41] just have the supplies um there's lots of resources so baby supplies was one they had on the list
[00:35:50] and I was like yeah but are you gonna be steadfast enough to be trading baby supplies to mom who
[00:36:03] like maybe you're trading food for or they're giving you food for diapers and you know there's so
[00:36:12] many ethical involvements in the baby supplies that I was like you know that's probably one I don't
[00:36:17] want to touch because I'll be soft yeah for bartering right I don't want to like stock baby supplies
[00:36:24] in hopes of trading with people who have little kids in an SHTF situation you know unless I
[00:36:34] like have family needs for that um but I think just ethically that would be challenging
[00:36:42] I'd rather stay away from it pet supplies they had pet supplies on the list okay I absolutely
[00:36:53] love my dogs I know you love your dog okay boy if you're watching your spouse or your family
[00:37:01] or your loved ones starve are you really gonna care about trading for pet supplies unless a dog food
[00:37:10] you know I don't know I think the pets are not gonna be as a priority we'll put it that way
[00:37:21] well they'll have to get their own food right suck it up or you know you become food
[00:37:28] already I mean sorry but it's real you know we're although if you have a working dog
[00:37:40] yeah but still you got not a lap dog but like a working either you know for hurting or
[00:37:46] defends yeah I mean the dog could have value I know but like when it comes to bartering away
[00:37:55] essential stuff of yours for pet supplies so that fluffy can have a new teddy bear or something
[00:38:01] I'm not talking about fluffy I'm talking about you know your you're take you're taking a little
[00:38:06] CS to the dogs on duty right yeah I get that part of it I'm just saying I don't think there'll be
[00:38:14] as high priority at that point I don't be more like a pack type okay radios radios was on their list
[00:38:28] I was like I don't know I don't want to barter a radio why am I so shocked why am I
[00:38:35] I was I was CEO I was being silent here I know but wouldn't you want your group to have the
[00:38:41] radios well you you might want to disperse radios around that's different that's different that's
[00:38:50] different than just bartering with radios right once you played the game good you're bartering and
[00:38:58] you're gaining true but if you have extra radios then you have extra parts for your radios too
[00:39:05] I mean do you want to trade all your parts away but if you have radio spread out across the valley
[00:39:14] that you have a longer reach on your network of it's true that's true and that's a different aspect
[00:39:22] but I was like I don't know about that one and you'll be able to the the family on the other side
[00:39:31] of the valley what about flashlights what about them same kind of deal to me as radios get those stupid
[00:39:39] little cheap ones at harbor free that they give away with a little click back on them yeah I have like
[00:39:47] a hundred of those and then you can use those as your bartering let's sure you can buy
[00:39:51] them super cheap when I did that birthday party and I did like EDC kits as they're they're goody bag
[00:39:57] for the party I put all little night they didn't get street light huh
[00:40:03] expensive ones no no no I'm for the kids now entertainment again something that was like yeah
[00:40:16] you know cards right it would be nice maybe people would would trade yeah that's good
[00:40:24] yeah tough one great because they're gonna who's gonna want to trade for that really I thought
[00:40:30] um it would be a good item like sweeten the deal uh-huh right like oh well you're feeling a little
[00:40:38] cheated I'll throw in a deck of cards to I'll throw in a big later right
[00:40:44] growing a flashlight right but I don't think people are going to come and mug you for like your
[00:40:49] your card stash well you know they're starting to post the partial empty casino or something
[00:40:56] okay and then the they they did mention you know safety first at the end of this article they talk
[00:41:01] about safety first and I just have to wonder how feasible all of this is if we're in like a straight
[00:41:09] up stuff just went really bad scenario so don't do business with folks you don't know
[00:41:16] okay well how many of us know like a vast amount of people in our community right you know
[00:41:26] so you might need something and you're gonna have to try and figure that out with that group
[00:41:33] you know um I've heard talk to like trying to get a uh community trading post set up
[00:41:41] is a way to go it's that they're doing one-on-one trades having like a place to trade at
[00:41:48] yeah schools um would be good right um that was Johnny in uh Johnny Jackson's book um so yeah do the
[00:41:59] and then do the exchange in public so that's exactly what you're talking about you know
[00:42:02] somebody's away from your residence wherever their supplies are preferably you know
[00:42:11] I even uh I said I had a Honda Silver Wing when I sold it like I went out to the shopping center complex
[00:42:18] you know yeah so yeah they're like Craigslist and stuff whenever we do that where I was like
[00:42:24] yeah the wall art work ladder something blows just let's just say for that way you don't want people
[00:42:30] coming to your house you don't know um even now yeah right uh would Brock pick me up hitchhike and
[00:42:39] I made him drop me off at the entrance of the subdivision when when we first met so that he didn't
[00:42:44] know where I lived though uh just smart practice oh you know what I forgot
[00:42:52] oh what happy you say patty's day everybody right yeah I just smelled the corn beef
[00:42:58] wafting through my office and I was like oh same patty's day I make a rubin casserole
[00:43:06] oh man um okay make sure no one follows you home and keep that stoppile secret which is
[00:43:15] yeah definitely challenge yeah it's a challenge right because hey that's the person who always
[00:43:22] brings that honey into town yeah after a couple weeks of good trading uh huh
[00:43:29] there might be like that person comes in and they always have extra feminine products or
[00:43:35] it might not be the person that you're bartering with it might be somebody that's just scoping the
[00:43:40] bartering yeah eating post out they could be watching to see who's bringing what for sure
[00:43:45] and that he'd be part of the trading that sounds like a western movie
[00:43:52] at the old trading post
[00:43:57] nah but I I've never really like thought about bartering on that level before so
[00:44:02] hopefully you guys got the same value out of today's research that I did because I was like oh
[00:44:08] good I know I was like I was learning today I love learning and that was just epic so because I was
[00:44:17] like uh bartering yeah yeah and then I was like wait a minute if you have really good stuff to barter
[00:44:24] to barter then you have a big huge target right on you yep so you better have like defensive
[00:44:34] set up if you're gonna decide to barter and something like food or alcohol so
[00:44:44] the western suit right yeah the showdown at the trading post all right so I got a treat for you
[00:44:55] today James the intrepid commander made me a new changing earth news intro so I'm gonna
[00:45:04] say I will get your feedback after okay here we go changing earth news
[00:45:15] dream survive thrive this is changing earth news
[00:45:23] all right how'd you like the new changing earth news intro I'll talk in a scary
[00:45:38] movie
[00:45:42] the news isn't scary enough right boob boob yeah that's what James always says okay today is March 17th of
[00:45:52] 2024 we had a plasma release this morning should be coming in earthbound about Tuesday to Wednesday
[00:46:00] just gonna be a glancing blow uh garden girls like very spooky I'm like yeah that's what I kind
[00:46:07] of thought he was gonna try to cheer one up for me a little bit oh we had a couple M class
[00:46:14] flares and a couple C class flares but the one video that I want to comment on such Bennett suspicious
[00:46:23] observers he's been doing a lot of videos on the effects of the increased energy on our planet
[00:46:30] from the increase in plasma particles that we're getting bombarded with and what this does is it
[00:46:37] will make both the high pressure and the low pressure of our weather patterns more extreme and we're
[00:46:46] definitely seeing that on our planet right now um if you follow along with my changing earth news
[00:46:52] at all you know that there's a lot of times we talk about um for example in Oman there was you
[00:46:58] know drought going on super high pressure systems just sitting in there well the other half super small
[00:47:06] country where the other half of the country is just flooded with rain from this low pressure system
[00:47:12] laying over it so we've seen these really big extremes in the small geographical area and it
[00:47:19] was just kind of cool to see his videos on how that all links together um because I kept saying wow
[00:47:26] that's so interesting how like it's such a small area but one side of it is just getting hammered
[00:47:32] with this weather and the other side is just getting hammered with that weather there's so extreme
[00:47:38] and it just connected all those little dots together so if you're into uh all that science
[00:47:44] information there are some great videos he just put out on that
[00:47:49] okay on March 10th we had 900 I'm sorry no we had 393 earthquakes
[00:47:59] that were 2.0 or bigger biggest of which was a 5.2 in the Salomon Sea um Indonesia had that
[00:48:06] really bad flooding system come in we were talking about it last Sunday with a landslide um about
[00:48:12] 21 people unfortunately lost their lives in that event do by just got their booties kicked
[00:48:19] with flooding over there um in the United Arab immigrants um from what I've seen some article on
[00:48:27] there was some cloud seeding that was going on with that as well so you know I don't know
[00:48:32] that we really need to be playing with um the systems that are are rapidly changing right now so
[00:48:41] they had some significant flooding there in the city from that rain event long beach there was
[00:48:47] massive waves that hit the coastal towns there the coasts are just being rowdy rowdy rowdy all over the
[00:48:53] place um and new Finland they were buried under 700 or they were buried under 75 centimeters of snow
[00:49:03] which was a major snow event for them and then in Malaysia in the town of Sabah a wildfire broke out
[00:49:11] so that was a significant wildfire event going on there on March 11th of 2024 there was 353
[00:49:19] earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger biggest of which was a 5.0 that was in the north pacific ocean
[00:49:26] ocean right off the coast of Costa Rica um Hampton Beach New Hampshire they had the high tides
[00:49:32] command caused coastal flooding um a lot of flooding going on there a lot of damage the coast
[00:49:39] and Maine also got hit by those high tides and in Oman they had a massive flooding event there
[00:49:45] that's why it was on my brain when I was going through the intro and New Zealand saw um strong storm
[00:49:53] strong winds come in did some property damage there because of that wind event March 12th of 2024
[00:50:01] there was 381 earthquakes or 2.0 or bigger biggest of which was a 5.5 in the sea of octosh
[00:50:09] I have no idea how to actually say that so probably anyone who's Russian would correct me
[00:50:15] but it is in eastern Russia um France they had several people die they had some violent storms
[00:50:23] and this bridge was washed out and unfortunately a lot of people lost their lives when that bridge went
[00:50:29] that that system was also accompanied by a massive snow event that stranded commuters
[00:50:36] in indonesia and somatura 650 homes were destroyed in another flooding event there
[00:50:42] and then uh the Texas panhandle with the wildfires going on they're starting to have reports
[00:50:48] of lost lives that numbers up in the thousands so that doesn't do well for beef prices and the beef
[00:50:54] industry that's already on a on a string because of the uh corporatization that's going on there as well
[00:51:02] um in russia mascar in st. Petersburg had two massive fires in golf industrial sites
[00:51:11] there's word that it could have been a Ukrainian attack but it was just was pretty odd to have two
[00:51:18] of their industrial complexes go up in a huge ball of flames on the same day so we've seen things
[00:51:26] like uh the food processing factories and whatnot have freak accidents so now all of a sudden it's
[00:51:33] happening there in russia as well um march 13th of 2024 there was 379 earthquakes or 2.0 or bigger
[00:51:42] biggest of which was a 6.2 in the mokasee in indonesia there was a 3.6 earthquake in
[00:51:47] israel that day um there was flooding in western australia the road to perth was closed
[00:51:54] and livestock lands were underwater these are a lot of sheet pastures and whatnot that went
[00:51:58] underwater so we'll have to wait for numbers on how those flocks survived in ebri oman there was
[00:52:05] another storm causing flooding winds up to 175 kilomitres per hour then on the 14th there was 421
[00:52:16] earthquakes or 2.0 or bigger biggest of which was a 6.0 rights mac dab in the middle of the
[00:52:22] Atlantic on the mid-Atlantic ridge so it's not unusual to have them out there it was just a
[00:52:28] rather large one and mosaume bick they got hit with cyclone philippo winds up to 155
[00:52:37] kilometers per hour and destructile coast of waves hit along with that storm system
[00:52:43] brisil in rory ma rorya mistake they were engulfed by wildfires they're having one of the worst droughts
[00:52:54] they've seen in 75 years and this is another example because in brisil we're always talking about
[00:53:00] flooding in like central and southern brisil and you have the two extremes sitting right there
[00:53:04] brisil is a rather large country so of course you're going to see differences in the climate there
[00:53:11] but it just shows you are like one area can be having a severe
[00:53:16] x factor and one side of the country can be having a severe y factor on march 15th there was
[00:53:23] 360 earthquakes or 2.0 or bigger biggest of which was a 5.6 in the philippine scene or Japan
[00:53:32] on the 15th the united states had a massive storm system come through there was tornado touches
[00:53:40] touchdowns from kansas to india indiana ohio 14 tornadoes touchdown in total they were that
[00:53:50] storm system stretched stretched through to the 16th at the end of that storm left three people
[00:53:57] dead and at least 14 tornadoes that they saw touchdown there was a large hail storm in
[00:54:03] ma zuri accompanied with it tornadoes touching down in kentucky it did some really big damage
[00:54:10] randolph dallowware they saw 50% of their structures in selma were reported damaged southern
[00:54:17] california also took wind event that same day and whenever you see the really massive trees coming
[00:54:25] down you know it's a big unusual system because it's taking out some old growth material this was
[00:54:31] one of those systems and really california didn't need any more storm systems coming through
[00:54:37] calorado got hit with a wallop of storm land or of snow landing on them it was a several feet of
[00:54:45] snow that came down in that system and so really was just a big smack and you know whenever i'm seeing
[00:54:53] things like this and there's so much destruction happening from these storm systems you know it's
[00:54:59] combination of there's way more built now on the face of the united states but also these storms
[00:55:08] are getting so much more intense and from an insurance standpoint which is what i do to actually
[00:55:13] make money um there's no way that you can sustain the amount of storms damage destruction just
[00:55:23] turn around rebuild it new cars all this stuff um and sustain that in any way into the future so
[00:55:33] it's a little bit spooky watching what's happening with the insurance industries and how they're
[00:55:39] attempting to cope not only with the inflation um but with the amount of storm systems and whatnot
[00:55:46] and i think california is just ground zero for this activity just because of how much political
[00:55:52] BS they have going on with the massive increase of prices and then the massive upsurge of catastrophic
[00:55:59] events um it's gonna be a very interesting industry to watch as the change in earth continues to
[00:56:08] unfold on us uh in chili they had a series of wildfires um around valve Val paresio um on the 16th
[00:56:20] there was 390 earthquakes or 2.0 or bigger biggest of which was a 5.7 in the macaque
[00:56:25] macri island regions uh there's a 4.6 in new zeland iceland started erupting again they have a new lava
[00:56:33] flow going towards grindevik um dallas saw tornado touchdown as well on the 16th lots of hail
[00:56:43] damage in that area and then kuchiya mexico they had an on-prince precedent at hail storm just
[00:56:50] something unlike they've never even seen before so um and that hail it's just it's just a game
[00:56:57] changer um i just didn't think it would be so prevalent as we come into this period on the earth
[00:57:04] uh march 17th of 2024 that is today there was 398 earthquakes a 2.0 or greater so far today the
[00:57:14] biggest one so far was a 5.6 in the north pacific region near nicaragua winos ares argentina got hit
[00:57:22] with heavy rains and a lot of flooding already today so hopefully everybody's okay there we'll have
[00:57:29] to see how that event unfolds as far as volcanoes we have 28 volcanoes actively erupting on our
[00:57:35] planet that's up one from last week we are continuing to trend up by one each week
[00:57:41] there's 19 showing minor activity that's exactly the same as it was last week there's 30 um
[00:57:48] showing unrest that is down one from last week and that is also showing the same trend so we're seeing
[00:57:54] the uh same amount on the list but more moving up into the erupting category 28 is a high number
[00:58:02] i think 32 was the highest we've ever seen since we started recording with the change in earth news
[00:58:10] as far as wildfires there were 14 new wildfires in the united states nine of them are active large
[00:58:17] fires and 19 of those total fires are contained at this time the numbers of actively burning acres
[00:58:25] are way down we're down to 147,000 from the 1.2 million i think we were at last week um
[00:58:33] Texas has no new fires this week there's only one fire burning for a total of 144,000 acres
[00:58:41] there's uh oklahomas number two there's nine fires actively burning in oklahoma six fires total
[00:58:50] 10 of those fires are contained for a total of 2,720 acres
[00:58:56] Wyoming is number three on the list they have one new fire one fire burning that is 0% contained
[00:59:03] it's 207 acres and then just because they were up on the list as well
[00:59:09] Kentucky's up there they have three new fires um one of those is a large burning fire 143
[00:59:16] acres and two of those fires are contained at this time so i'm going to say that's from the storm
[00:59:21] damage uh that they had come through it probably was electrical fires and things like that or lightning
[00:59:27] strikes something of that nature so it was rockin and rolling in the new in the us this week
[00:59:35] so prayers to everybody who's been affected by these storms prayers for a speedy recovery
[00:59:41] a god watch over you and your family
[00:59:46] we didn't have it very bad like where we're at in Texas it was just like
[00:59:52] we had some rain you know not a big deal we're always at like the tail end of these huge
[00:59:58] storms so it's kind of a nice place right yeah yeah so good to do all righty guys well that is
