The Pepper Broadcasting Network. We have to hit the reset, but to create a true culture preparedness, starting at a very young age and filtering all the way up. Welcome to the gun Metal Armory. Here's your host, Dan Dye. What's up, everybody. It's Dame from the gun Metal Armory. I do not have a ton of time, but I'm going to give you guys a pretty bad ass show pretty quick. So what we are going to do today is we're going to talk about, uh, some ambush tactics, exactly how ambushes are done, some of the stuff that talks about it in the World War II documents that we've been looking through for the past couple of months now, and what the current documents say in a couple of the other various military manuals that are out there, such as FM three DASH twenty one Dot eight okay, or FM seven DASH eight. All Right, So the reason we are going to be talking about this is really up to you to decide for yourself. Everyone kind of has their own opinions as to what's going to happen in the world. Things are getting really really bad everywhere we look. I don't know what's going to happen but I do know this. I know that the people around me, people that I might consider to be Oh, I don't know someone I need to worry their training. Okay, there are a lot of very bad people out there that are training. There are a lot of very unscrupulous people out there that are training that have electronic warfare capabilities. Okay, these people who we all used to laugh at when they would come out and protest and throw Molotov cocktails and dress in all black pajamas. It was funny at first, But if you've paid attention to what they were then and what they are now, the way that they have their weapons slung, the type of gear that they have, the way that they have their optics, the types of firearms they have, the types of optics they have. There, there's something else is going on here. Okay. This is not the average group that we're used to seeing. Okay, this is not the average black pajama goofball group. Okay, So if I was someone on either side, I might get a little more serious about what I'm seeing. I might get a little bit more serious about what I'm doing. Okay, I'll put it to you this way. My training regimen used to involve lifting, shooting, knife work, and cardio. Okay, we'll just call it cardio. You should involve all those things, okay, pretty much in equal measures. My tactics and my training has changed. Okay. I have incorporated communications more so than ever before, and electronics, because if you don't know what you're doing with those items, and how to run those items, and how to potentially fight back against those items, then you're gonna be at a major disadvantage number one. Number two, I've begun training with some of the other advantages. We'll just call them advantages that I have to where I'm at. Okay, whatever advantages you might have at your place, start building them up to your level. Okay. I'm sorry if I'm being cryptic, but there are certain things that we really should not talk about, and there is nowhere safe online to talk about them. So start building advantages around where you live or where you're going to retreat too. Right. For example, let me give you a very simple example. Okay, Let's say you want some raised beds around your house. Let's say you want some raised beds. Okay, Now, if I was going to build the average let's say inch tall, four foot by six foot raised bed and fill it up with dirt and plant my plants in there. That's awesome, that's great. But instead, what if you built a raised bed that was three feet tall and four feet by five feet or six feet. What if it was three foot tall. What if it came up to you know, the middle of your midsection or your belly button, or what if it came up to your waist. What if you had those in strategic spots all around your house. You know, you're just planting bushes. You know, you're just planting food for yourself, No big deal, right, You know those things are going to be full of dirt plants. You know you're growing food for yourself. Right. What if you have your garage or something of that, and you're one of those people that works on cars a lot. Right, for those of you people out there that know what a pit is, that might not be something bad to go ahead and dig in your garage. Granted, if you have cement laid, it's not going to be easy. Okay, you'll have to get through that cement. But if you're planning on building a garage in a certain area, maybe you should dig a pit to work on the underside of your car on or in rather Okay, if you don't know what a pit is, you'll often see them in like oil change places. It's like a little slotted area that you can go underneath the car and work on the car. And it's thinner than the car's wheelbase, than pretty much any car's wheelbase, but it allows the mechanic or whoever's working on the car enough room or they can work on it from underneath. So maybe that's something you could look at doing, and you know, it's just a little bay for you to work on your car. Right, If that stuff it's too complicated, or if that stuff is not going to work for you, maybe you just build a nice couple of brick walls on various areas of your house as decoration. You know, put up some stone you know here and there. You know, there's lots and lots of different options here. Maybe you stack firewood in a strategic place and you stack it deep, okay, for multiple reasons, for multiple reasons. Okay, maybe you look at reinforcing the doors of your house. You're putting in three inch screws, three inch deck screws into your hinges and into your lock areas of your door. Okay. If you can just saw a steel door, do that. If you can get a lock one of those those bars, I forget what they're called, one of those reinforcement bars that wedge against the door, get one of those. Okay. If you can build reinforcement for your door yourself, do that. If you know how to build early warning systems for your property, do that. There are lots and lots and lots of options. And guys, I really don't know what is going on around this country, around this world right now, but shit is getting worse. After seeing everything I've seen the last couple of weeks, everything I'm doing has been kicked into high gear. And I know we talk about this a lot, but I have literally kicked it into high gear. Okay. Generally when we say, oh, we've kicked into high gear, we're talking about like, you know, maybe up one or two notches. No, you can't do that. Okay, if you are within the range of hearing my voice, please do something now. Get ready. I don't know what's coming, but something's not right. Okay. I don't fear monger, I don't do that shit. But you've got to do something, Okay, whether that be buying a bunch of sandbags and getting ready stacking those suckers, not filling them, but getting ready to use them if you need to. Okay, there are so many things, but the biggest thing you need to do that I will say before I start getting into ambushes and how they were done back in the day, is you need to start looking at your property as a defensive emplacement. Okay, you need to start looking at it as a defensive location. Okay. That involves setting up multiple defensive measures. That involves setting up a fallback position, that involves multiple escape routes, that involves standoff, that involves so many different things. So you need to do an area study. You need to figure out exactly what needs to be done. If you guys don't know what an area of study is, please email me. I will point you in the right direction. Gunmetal Armory at email dot com. I will point you in the right direction. Okay, there's so much that each of us need to do to get ready, and I don't know if we have enough time, but if you don't start, you definitely will not have enough time. Okay, So that's all I'm going to say on that. We are going to now get into how ambushes were done back in the day, how they're set up, and what the sort of modern version of something like that might be. So we'll get into that right now. All right, So let's get into how they dealt with enemy personnel and how ambushes were conducted back in World War Two. Okay, So the first thing we're going to talk about is how they dealt with the enemy personnel at the objectives once they got there. Now, in almost every operation, there are going to be multiple deciding factors that basically belie the nature of the objective. Okay, there's going to be certain defenses at each objective as well. One of the types of defenses is going to be the personnel at those objectives. Okay. They're going to play a very important part in how your team is going to act and how their team is going to act. Of course, Now, basically any object that they would have attacked back in the day is not going to be undefended there. It's going to be a defended location. Okay. So in an operation involving any kind of an ambush or any kind of demolition, any kind of taking of supplies, anything like that, the immediate personnel to be dealt with will be centuries. Okay. They could be guarding the supplies you need to get so you can complete that ambush. Okay, So the first people that they're going to come in contact with will be sentries. They can be dealt with in multiple different ways. Number One, they can be avoided altogether. A short delayed action can be used for demolition. So if you need to destroy an objective, you avoid the centuries altogether. Not such a bad thing, right because then nobody's dead, nobody knows you were there, there's no reprisal, so on, and so, yeah, you've destroyed some gear, but nobody knows what really happened unless they figure that out. Okay. Number two, they can be killed silently so that the Guard and the other supporting troops are not aroused. That is a very very interesting thing, and we have talked about this before. If you guys need a refresher on how this is done or how they say it's done from back in the day, you know, email me, and you know I can point you in the right direction to what their information was back during World War Two. In most cases, a short delayed action would be used in that area too. Okay, So even though they have terminated the guards quietly they are so or centries, whatever guard centuries, whatever you want to call them, they are still going to put a short delayed action for demolition, for taking of supplies, whatever, they're going to delay it. Okay. The third way they can be dealt with is going to be grenades. Okay. Grenades is going to be the third way they can be taken care of. In that case, the delayed action could not be used because there'd be way too much noise and they will be discovered. Okay, So keep that in mind. Now when it comes to the general considerations in anything like this, you've got to realize that the guards are going to change in intervals. Okay. In cold weather, the guards are going to change more often than in warm weather. Some places, they guards may change every half hour, they may change every hour. They may change, you know less than that, So you don't know you that's why you need intelligence. Okay. This factor must be taken into account and mentioned as you're doing any kind of briefing with your team. There is anco generally when it comes to these guards that are on duty, they will visit all of the other guards while he walks the perimeter, assuming there is a CEO or if not CEO, NCO there. Okay, so that's something to take into account as well, and that again is why you need intel there. The ambush party or the hit party will have to approach near enough to the objective to observe the century or multiple centuries, depending on what goes on. Okay. When they've studied the routine, they will then select their opportunity to take a care of that century. Supposing that the guard has a two hour interval that is visited once in that two hour interval by the NCO. When he comes on duty, he'll be sleepy and partly blinded by the light of the guardroom. Keep this in mind. This will wear off after about a half hour. He'll gradually be roused by the cold, and at the back of his mind there will always be the thought of the NCO's visit. Okay. So the party, the hit party, whatever you want to call them, the attacker, you know, the resistance sell they're going to need to decide when to attack either when the century is still seeing badly after being awakened and is still sleepy. Okay, that that happens us. Think about it when you wake up right out, you know, when you get up in the morning, or you get up if you wake up before the like of that. Think about how badly you see first thing in the morning, Think about how your eyes hurt when you first go into the light. That is an opportune time to do something. Okay. The other good time, they say in the literature, is to attack that century after the guard has gone around and visited with each of the centuries. Okay, that isn't a pretty much a perfect time for it as well. Okay, but they say that the centuries must be observed very carefully for their attacked. There will always be an opportunity. It will always present itself, something like the sentury may lean their rifle or their weapon against something. They may have to go to the bathroom, They may go somewhere they shouldn't go, so on, and so forth. No century is alert all of the time, especially when they've been on the same job for a long time. Keep that in mind. Now, when the century has been noiselessly dispatched, one man at least must watch the guardroom afterwards in case the NCO comes out again or another officer turns up. So keep that in mind. If your resistance cell, if you're back in World War two and your resistance cell does decide to attack the enemy, Okay, you need to be aware of what other potential problems could present themselves. Okay, So moving on to ambushes. Now, last time we were talking about suitable objectives, food, ammunition, fuel supplies, essential spare parts, tires, etc. All of this stuff was important. All this stuff is important. Ambushing troops, personnel. The ambushing of troops on the march is rarely possible for the partisan. Okay, unless their destruction serves an immediate end, could they be considered a worthwhile objective. Should these troops, however, be those specifically employed against partisan activity, their destruction might be said to serve an immediate purpose. Or if they were reserved troops moving up for a particular action, their destruction or even delay might be of great importance. Okay, remember what they said. Okay, high ranking officers, air force personnel, especially the ones that fly planes, things of that nature, dispatch riders, electronic warfare, anything like that. Those guys are absolutely important to be ambushed and taken care of. Okay, But you also need to consider the problems that could come from doing things of that nature, if at all possible. They say that supply attacks should be carried out. Ambushes should be carried out against supplies or supply convoys rather than personnel. Okay, unless you absolutely have to according to this, the destruction of a German soldier, of course, you know it's written for that is the job of the army, not of the partisans. Okay. The partisan is to engage supply lines. Okay, all right, so that is something to consider there. Okay. If you are looking at a modern definition of ambushes, we've come a very very long way since World War Two as far as ambushes and that such. Go. Okay, Now, last time we talked about special purpose attacks such as ambushes, counterattacks, spoiling attacks, feints, raids, and so on. Okay, when it comes to different types of those the types of those attacks, they share a lot of the same types of preparation, execution, planning, and so on. Okay. There are also military deception operations that can be conducted not just by the military but also by civilians. Okay. The one advantage I think that you will have if you were a partisan in World War Two, for instance, The one advantage I think you would have, at least in the beginning. Is your enemies are going to vastly underestimate you, vastly underestimate your capabilities. They're not going to know exactly how trained you are, but it's highly likely that you will know just how trained they are. Okay, And over time you will figure out their capabilities, and you may already know the capabilities, depending on how long you've been in that world. Right, Okay, So let's define the word ambush, okay, ambush and ambush is a form of attack by fire or other destructive means from a concealed position on a moving or temporarily halted enemy. It may take the form of an assault to close with and destroy the enemy, or maybe an attack by fire only, and ambush does not require ground to be seized or held. Ambushes are generally executed to reduce the enemy forces overall combat effectiveness. Destruction is the primary reason for conducting an ambush. Other reasons to conduct ambushes are to harass the enemy, capture the enemy, destroy or capture equipment, or gain information about the enemy. Ambushes are classified by category. There are two of them, deliberate or hasty Okay. They're also classified by formation linear or L shaped. In other words, in a line or in an L shaped line. Okay, pretty simple there. And they are classified by type. Is at a point ambush, an area ambush, or an anti armor ambush. The platoon leader uses a combination of category, type and formation for developing his ambush plans. There are optional considerations to take into account when this is all being planned. The execution of an ambush is always going to be offensive in nature. However, the platoon may be directed to conduct an ambush during offensive or defensive operations. The platoon must take all necessary precautions to ensure that it is not detected during movement to or preparation of the ambush site. The platoon must also have a secure route of withdrawal following the ambush. An ambush normally consists of the following actions. Get ready to write this down. There are specific actions that are within the ambush. Okay. The first part of an ambush, is you ready to write this down? Tactical movement to the objective rally POINTORP. Tactical movement to the rally point. Okay, that's the first thing. Tactical movement to the rally point. Second, reconnaissance of the ambush site. Keep that in mind. You need the recon You gotta know who's coming, how long they're going to take to get there, how many are there, and so on again. Second one, reconnaissance of the ambush site. Recon the ambush site. Number three. Establish establishment of the ambush security site. Okay, ambush security site. Establishment of the ambush security site okay. Number four. Preparation of the ambush site. Okay, number four, Preparation of the ambush site. Number five. Execution of the ambush. That is, when the ambush kicks off. That's number five. That's the fifth thing. Think of how many things need to be done before the actual ambush takes place. See people think that, you know, it's just some simple thing they see on TV or oh everybody jumps out and bah, you know, does not work that way if you're doing it correctly. And then number six, we already talked about this. You gotta have a secure route following ambush for withdrawal, you are correct, the withdrawal after the ambush. Number six, withdrawal after the ambush. It's extremely important to be able to withdraw after you're done, because you better believe if one of those guys gets out a radio message or a flare or anything else to let his buddies know that maybe just a few miles away they need help. You better believe somebody's coming, and you need to have reconned ahead of time which ways you can go, And yes, I did say ways plural. Which directions you can go this way, that way, up, down, left, right, doesn't matter. You need to have multiple directions to go multiple ways out of that situation. Okay. Now, in World War Two, the partisans would have likely split up after an ambush gone, excuse me, gone, their separate ways try to get out of danger. However, in modern times, you know, like steal teams, green berets, rangers, if they conduct an ambush, they are not trying to get away from each other. They are trying to stay with each other because they are each other's lifelines and they do not leave a man behind, so they stick together. Okay, So I'm gonna go over this one part real quick, and then I have got to go. Okay. The infratry platoon is normally task organized into assault, support and security elements. For the execution of an ambush. The assault element is the one that actually executes the ambush okay. They're the ones that will employ the attack by fire, assault, or a combination of the techniques to destroy the ambushed enemy force. Okay. The assault element generally consists of a rifle squad. The platoon leader is normally located with the assault element. The support element fixes the enemy force to prevent it from moving out of the kill zone, which allows the assault element to conduct the ambush. The support element generally uses direct fire in this role, but it may be responsible for calling an indirect fire to further fix the ambushed enemy force. In other words, if you have three vehicles heading down a path and you start launching mortars in front of them and behind them while you fix them in position, and now the assault element can come in and wipe everything out okay, or steal the trucks. I don't know, whatever they want to do anyways. The support element also generally consists of the weapons squad okay. The platoon sergeant is normally located with the support element, not to be confused with the platoon leader, who is located with the assault element. Then the third element is the security element. Security element provides protection and early warning to the assault and support elements. And secures the objective rally point. Okay, where everybody musters up, all right, They secure that place. It isolates the ambush site, both to prevent the ambush enemy force from moving out of the ambush site and to prevent enemy rescue elements from reaching the ambush site. The security element may also be responsible for securing the platoon's withdrawal route. The security element generally consists of a rifle squad. Okay, So next week we will talk about planning. There are key planning considerations covering the entire kill zone by fire using existing terrain features, determining how to in place reinforcements, protecting assault and support elements, and so on and so on and so on. Okay, all of this stuff is important. All of these things need to be considered, so keep them in mind, and we will talk about this again. Next week. We will go deeper and deeper into how to do ambushes via World War Two and how to do ambushes via modern tactics. Okay, until next time. We'll see you later and we'll talk to you as we go deeper inside the ambussed side of the gun metal armory. Good Night, everybody, Thank you for joining us. We'll see you next time on the gun Metal Armory.
