TBN family. The fireside is blazing bright, and uh I still have a short list two, four, six, eight or so under ten items or activities or tasks, what have you that need to get done before all this comes to uh to a head here in Richmond, Virginia. What will it be, Well, it'll be the same as it is for most people who get the incredible amounts of ice. It'll be a practice in off grid living in the in the coldest temperatures that we're gonna. See this year. That's what it will be for me, uh Bari, a miracle. Most of the people in this area, or large swathes of people in central Virginia are going to experience a lot of ice up to an inch and it's gonna you know how the power outages work, right, It's doesn't necessarily have to be in your neighborhood to affect you. And we'll see, you know, we'll see how it truly is amazing what the power companies are capable of. You know that those guys, I mean you will talk about unsung heroes. You know. I was talking to my brother in law this morning. He dropped his daughter off and he's headed. He's headed wherever his company sends him to. Well, like I told him, I said you, you'll be the most important man wherever you wind up. He'll be the most important man there because he's alignment. He'll be restoring power. You know what I mean to the people who are freezing, it's not an inconvenience, and I think that's what's important. It's not an inconvenience. It's you know, people are gonna freeze. It's just a temperature set that people aren't really accustomed to, particularly in the South. So I want to tell you about the most important thing you can do. I'm not going to be on very long today. We will keep you up to date on what's going on as best we can, as a storm rolls in and that kind of stuff. Anything you want to reach out to me on those of you who are facing the storm, updates and so forth. If you're an element, give us some updates. If you're not in Element, well element's going to become well you could. Don't worry about that right now. Send me a message. Email Intrepid commander at Proton dot me. Intrepid Commander at Proton dot me, send me an email. Let me know how you're weathering the storm if you're in the South and you're really feeling it, because it's real. Man, it's in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nine degrees, you know what I mean, that's the thing. Saint Louis, Kansas City's one. Well, I mean not as bad as Tulsa, right, I mean even Jackson at thirty six. Well it is winter. But yeah, and that's not wind chills, you know what I mean. You put the wind chills on it. Take your breath away. Last night before bed, I'm sitting there looking at the weather with my wife, and well, it may feel like anywhere between five degrees and negative five degrees in the morning, you know. And like I said, with all the amenities of life, who cares? Right, with all the amenities of modern life, who cares? But this is a stark reminder of the fact that when you subtract electricity from it, all everything changed, all this stuff that we depend on, this whole world. And this is you know, prepper EMP talk, prepper off grid talk. It just is what it is. So much depends on an electrical system that and I'm stealing from my father here, but so much depends on an electrical system that looks exactly the same to a guy who's seventy six years old, almost as it does to his, you know, ten year old grandson. In other words, when my son Jacob walks outside and looks up at the power poles, he's looking at a technology. Of course it's changed to some degree, but it's still wires in the air on sticks. And it's the same concept that powered my father's seventy six right, my father's house, you know, in the fifties. Yet we've built, we're literally creating a godlike creature in the Internet that is on this spin you know, sort of power system. And I guess if your artificial intelligence, probably one of your top priorities is, hey, can we keep the power from going out? Maybe kind of is how I stay alive. So we've been through many iterations of survival sort of challenges and things along those lines. And that's really what this is for millions of people. It's innate, mother nature enforced survival challenge. Right. You can lament it if you want, but it just is what it is. It doesn't matter. Right, Hopefully you prepared for it. I know many of you, within the sound of my voice have prepared for it. The most important thing you can do is get a blank sheet of paper and a pen, blank sheet of paper and a sharpie or whatever, and start taking notes. Take notes. This thing might not happen again for a while. Take notes. Most importantly, note the things that failed. Note the things that didn't work. Note. One of the most important things to note is the little things that would have changed everything, right, the little things that could have changed everything. If I would have bought X before this all happened, the whole thing would have been different, and it maybe even put attributed dollar value to it next to it. Right, If I would have spent forty five dollars on X, this would have been a totally different situation. And I'm telling you right now, like the most valuable thing that will come out of these next couple of days, a few days, depending on how this goes throughout the country, will be those notes. They will be those notes. My socks aren't any good. My feed were cold the whole time. The gloves I had were no good. My hands got wet immediately when I was out shoveling in the freezing rain, shoveling snow before the freezing rain coated. Right, the entertainment sucked, right, just wasn't We need better board games, we need better books, we need whatever. I don't know what the hell your notes are gonna be. What I do know is the most important thing you can do over these next few days, besides pissing and moaning and shivering, is to take a lot of notes. Take notes about what worked, Take notes about what failed. Take detailed notes about the things you could have added, what they would have cost, so that should it ever happen again, it's a no brainer. Right. We have taken many, many steps, even as preppers here in my home, in preparation for this storm. We've done a lot of things. We have over the last week. We've done a lot of things, and we'll talk about them. Today's not the day for that, but we'll talk about them. Or maybe today is the day for that. I mean, it's it's probably worth talking about bolstering the insulation around your doors and windows. I came home yesterday my wife had wrapped the doors in a kid's bedsheet. Never heard of it in all the years of listening to preppers talk about a variety of things. And I'll tell you right now it works. It's added yet another layer, right, it's added yet another layer to the to block the cold from getting into the home. And while the heater is running, it might not seem such an amazing thing. I mean, I'm impressed by it. But once the heat stops, once the water's turned off, the powers off, and the heat stops, then all of a sudden, every one of these little choices, these little decisions, these little additions, will make out of a difference. You know, I'll make a world a difference. So we have to be aware of that, right, we have to be. Aware of that. We have to combat because you know, the the only problem is the cold. I mean, the ice itself is not even really a problem because you break the ice up and you know, dig it out and make sure that you can maneuver around your property a little bit. You don't have to leave, right, most people listening to this podcast don't have to leave their home for anything. So you wait it out, you know, you let the evaporation and the sunlight do its thing and so on. But the real problem is your heaters off. And you know, it's five five degrees out in North Carolina, right, so it's a different kind of world. So I leave you with that folks, get yourself a padded journal, whatever, a pen, a sharpie, something that you can jot down, because as this all starts to unfold, you're gonna want to have that list. More importantly, you're gonna want to have that list after. That's your after action report, Right, your after action report is gonna be all those notes and all the improvements and things and all that kind of stuff. You know, I'll tell you something I learned yesterday blew my mind. All around our crawl space. Some of you are gonna laugh at this, and some of you are gonna go out and do it because you won't know either. But all around our crawl space, and we have a rather large crawl space, there are these vents. Right. Every house has them, these little vents around the crawl space. And you know, I look at them and think, high humidity South, what a blessing. Right, get the moisture out of the crawl space. We don't get rot on the subfloor and the floorboards beneath us. And yesterday my brother in law, my other brother in law, who's a plumber, he says, did you guys shut your vents in your crawl space? Huh? What? What are you talking about and I go over there and slide the thing over and sure, then shit, it just closes. Amazing. I never knew. I lived in the house fifteen years. I had no idea. I thought they were just vents. It stayed open all the time. Another cool prep that Lady Liberty brought on board. Now, this is one of those go get them preps. So this might not be super helpful because we're running out of time or you might already be. In the fire. She bought these insulated There were these insulated covers that wrap around the outside of your home the hose bib and I said, wow, that's pretty cool. So we covered those as well. Like I said, we've taken a lot of precautions. It's not to say that things won't go hellishly bad, but we've positioned ourselves just like you have, I'm sure, with redundancy and so on, to assure that we can make it, you know, as best we can, and all things that fail. I will be taking notes, and I hope you do the same. PBN family, Okay, I hope you do the same. For those of you out there interested.
