[00:00:00] Welcome to the Gunmetal Armory, here's your host, Dane D.
[00:00:13] Oh, what's up Team Gunmetal? Looks like I hit the wrong button there. Sorry about that.
[00:00:18] You know, I'm a human being. I do things incorrectly sometimes, right? We all do that.
[00:00:23] So, I hope everyone's day is going good so far.
[00:00:28] Just wanted to kind of, you know, stop in, touch base with everybody, see how everybody's doing.
[00:00:34] You know? I wanted to get on this week so I could touch base with everybody.
[00:00:40] And go over a few things and then talk a little bit about security measures.
[00:00:46] We're going to talk about active and passive security measures.
[00:00:50] Okay? Now, before I get to that, a few announcements.
[00:00:55] I wanted to let you guys know that coming out on, let's see, April 28th.
[00:01:02] I'm like, I'm trying to think of what month it is.
[00:01:04] Coming out on April 28th, the new book from James Walton is going to be available on Amazon.
[00:01:11] I think it actually might be available on Amazon right now.
[00:01:14] But the official launch is April 28th and the book is called The World of Ready.
[00:01:21] If you're a parent out there and you've got kids or even grandkids, aunts, uncles, whatever it is,
[00:01:28] you know, you've got a kid that's related to you somehow and they see you prepping.
[00:01:33] And they're like, you know, why are you putting that backpack up there with those other four backpacks, grandma or grandpa?
[00:01:39] You know? Why are you canning all that food?
[00:01:41] Why are you putting back all this extra food? What's going on?
[00:01:44] Why are you stocking all this water? Why do you have such a big garden?
[00:01:47] Why do you have all these animals?
[00:01:49] And so forth, right?
[00:01:51] Well, if you want to kind of give them a better idea and do it from a children's perspective, you know, like a kid's books perspective,
[00:02:00] this new book series from James Walton called The World of Ready will help you explain to your kids, grandkids,
[00:02:09] nephews, nieces, whatever it is about readiness.
[00:02:15] It will help you explain to them about preparedness and about, you know, preparedness in general
[00:02:20] and also the wide breadth of the world of preparedness or readiness, right?
[00:02:28] So it's going to kind of give you a place to start.
[00:02:31] It's going to give you bullet points to work with.
[00:02:33] And this first book, if I'm not mistaken, is actually about bug out bags.
[00:02:38] So you can kind of give them an understanding of if you did have to bug out and you handed them their own bag
[00:02:44] because, of course, if you're a prepper, you've made a bag for them as well, right?
[00:02:48] You hand them their bag and say, hey, get in the vehicle. We got to go right now.
[00:02:52] Now what's this backpack? I don't understand.
[00:02:54] So that can actually help you. This book can actually help you explain to them what it is.
[00:02:59] Now if they don't have a bug out bag yet, this book might be able to help you kind of get started there too.
[00:03:06] You know, you never know, right? So just something to keep in mind.
[00:03:10] You can go on Amazon and search the world of ready and you should be able to find it.
[00:03:15] But I think you guys are really, really enjoy it. Take a look at it.
[00:03:18] It's only like $7. It's not even not even double digits, guys.
[00:03:22] Seven bucks. Good to go from what I saw it look like it was seven bucks.
[00:03:25] Okay. All right. I hope everybody is having a wonderful day.
[00:03:29] So let's move on a little bit here.
[00:03:32] Something that's kind of been on my mind lately as far as security measures go is I don't know why,
[00:03:38] but for whatever reason home invasion keeps coming into my head.
[00:03:41] You know, people protecting themselves from home invasions, people being safe in their own home.
[00:03:48] Right? We've seen that there's been a lot of illegal migration or immigration, whatever you want to go with there.
[00:03:55] Rolling through our country for the last four years or well, through the last three years or so. Right?
[00:04:02] So it's hard to tell or hard to be exactly sure where we're going to go from here, especially on the borders.
[00:04:12] You know, and of course as many of you I'm sure know, I live in Arizona and I'm in a border state.
[00:04:19] Right? My wife's family lives in Texas.
[00:04:23] I know the border state. Right? So these are all things that kind of come into play that we, you know, need to kind of keep in mind.
[00:04:31] Right? So I think it behooves us to constantly be thinking about, okay, if someone were to enter my home,
[00:04:40] you know, am I ready for that? Right? And I don't mean ready just in the fact that, okay, I have guns.
[00:04:48] You know, I've guns placed here and there. I've gun by my bedside, you know, so on and so forth.
[00:04:52] I mean, that's fine. That's great. That's amazing. You should have that. Okay?
[00:04:56] I'm not saying that's bad. What I'm saying is that's only the beginning. Right?
[00:05:01] So we need to be aware of what kind of preparedness aspects we have when it comes to our home.
[00:05:14] Okay? So if you can, consider for a second or two. Right?
[00:05:22] Consider for a second or two if you can. What exactly you have around your home when it comes to, let's say firearms.
[00:05:32] Okay? We're just talking about firearms. Let's say firearms. Okay?
[00:05:35] Let's consider for a second what we have around our home with regards to firearms.
[00:05:40] Okay? So what do you have around your home?
[00:05:45] Okay, do you have guns that are strategically placed? Do you have ammunition? Do you have first aid?
[00:05:53] You know, what kind of stuff do you have around your home that is strategically placed and ready to use if needed?
[00:06:01] Right? This is something to think about.
[00:06:04] Do you have... Sorry, just trying to do something here.
[00:06:11] Do you have other means of protection around your home? Not just firearms, but other means of protection.
[00:06:19] Do you have those as well? Because all of this stuff comes into play, right?
[00:06:24] So you need to be thinking about that.
[00:06:27] The next thing that you might consider when it comes to this stuff is what is your access level to these types of things, you know?
[00:06:37] Firearms, ammunition, first aid, even communications guys. Even communications, right?
[00:06:45] What if you don't have your cell phone and someone breaks into your home and you can't get to it?
[00:06:49] It's too far away for you to get to. Do you have another way to communicate with someone if you need to?
[00:06:56] Right? So this is all stuff that needs to be considered and it's all stuff that matters, guys.
[00:07:02] So I say this to make the point that you know, you guys all know that Shomer Tech is one of my favorite companies, okay?
[00:07:12] And for those of you guys that don't know, Shomer Tech is spelled S-H-O-M-E-R-T-E-C, okay?
[00:07:24] Do a web search for that, S-H-O-M-E-R-T-E-C. You're basically going to find the Q branch, okay?
[00:07:31] From James Bond. They're like the real life Q, okay? It's crazy the things that these guys make.
[00:07:37] I'll give you one example. They have a nickel that has a handcuff key and a razor blade inside of it that folds out, okay?
[00:07:45] Just one example. You can go to the website and look at the stuff for yourself.
[00:07:49] All custom made by them and their engineers, their makers, okay?
[00:07:55] So back to what I was saying about home invasions, okay? Or that kind of thing.
[00:08:01] Home safety in your own home, okay?
[00:08:05] We need to be extremely cognizant of the level of safety in our own homes.
[00:08:12] It is very, very important. It's almost imperative.
[00:08:16] I would say it is imperative that we are always considering threats in our home and outside of our home.
[00:08:26] We don't know who's out there that wants in.
[00:08:31] We don't know who wants what we have.
[00:08:37] We don't know who wants to harm us.
[00:08:40] We don't know what their intentions are if they don't want to harm us, okay?
[00:08:45] So all of this stuff makes a difference when we're thinking about something like a...
[00:08:52] Let's say a security plan, okay?
[00:08:55] We're thinking about something like a security plan. All of this stuff matters, right?
[00:09:01] So let's think about that for a second. Let's think about a security plan for a second, okay?
[00:09:07] If you're putting together a security plan for you and your family,
[00:09:11] what do you think is going to be one of the most important things to begin with when it comes to security?
[00:09:19] Well, for me... I'm acting like you're right here in front of me.
[00:09:24] What do you think is the most important thing?
[00:09:27] For me, it is redundancy, right?
[00:09:31] Of course, you know, the security runs deeper than just redundancy, but it does run deep, right?
[00:09:38] Redundancy is extremely important.
[00:09:41] Having the ability to back up anything that we need to is pretty important, right?
[00:09:48] So another thing is having redundancy plans, right?
[00:09:56] So having a backup firearm versus having a plan to handle that firearm
[00:10:04] or hand that firearm off to someone in the house that's just as capable as you,
[00:10:09] of course, all these things matter, right?
[00:10:12] But I was... What I was getting at when it came to Shomer Tech is
[00:10:19] it's probably just as important to have... How do I want to word this?
[00:10:28] It's probably just as important to have...
[00:10:34] Let's just call them escape and evasion tools, okay?
[00:10:38] E&E tools. It's just as important to have E&E tools in your house
[00:10:42] as it is to have firearms, right?
[00:10:46] So for an example, give you a simple example, okay?
[00:10:51] For example, let's say you have one of those picture frame thingies that you can store a gun in.
[00:10:58] Most people will have a gun in there, maybe pepper spray, maybe an extra mag or two and a flashlight, okay?
[00:11:05] Let's just say that, okay?
[00:11:07] A gun, an extra mag or two and a flashlight, something like that, right?
[00:11:14] I would say 98% of us do not have a means of escape in there.
[00:11:24] Well, what do I mean by means of escape?
[00:11:26] Well, first of all, you can go to ShomerTech.com and find that out for yourself.
[00:11:30] But in case you don't have time, you could...
[00:11:35] And it's one of those websites where you could go there and get a lot of this gear, okay?
[00:11:40] But one example is...
[00:11:45] Let's say you have your little picture frame with your gun in there and your extra mag and your flashlight.
[00:11:49] You could also have a handcuff key in there, right?
[00:11:55] You could also have a small razor blade in there so you can cut through zip ties.
[00:12:00] Something like that maybe, right?
[00:12:04] The other option because keep in mind...
[00:12:08] Okay, let's back up for a second.
[00:12:12] You're probably wondering why are these detailing us to put escape and evasion gear in with our gun?
[00:12:17] I mean we're gonna have a gun, we're not gonna need that stuff.
[00:12:21] Maybe not, maybe so, right?
[00:12:24] So let's say you go outside of your house because you heard a bump in the night
[00:12:28] and you've got your gun, you've got your flashlight and somebody gets a drop on you.
[00:12:32] Drop the gun, put your hands behind your back.
[00:12:35] Darn it. Crap, right?
[00:12:39] So that's one reason, right there.
[00:12:42] Just the fact that someone can get the drop on you, right?
[00:12:46] Now I don't know about you guys but I always...
[00:12:49] I'd say pretty good portion of the time I have escape and evasion gear on me.
[00:12:55] I have a way to protect myself on me almost 24 hours a day.
[00:13:00] It's weird to sleep with an AR-15 but I do.
[00:13:04] No, I'm just kidding. I'm completely kidding.
[00:13:08] But yeah so along with any of your concealed carry stuff around your house
[00:13:14] and any kind of weapons you've stored around the house
[00:13:16] I would suggest storing some kind of escape and evasion implements, okay?
[00:13:21] Now the other reason why you might want those things stored with them
[00:13:25] is if you have to take that stuff and leave in a hurry, right?
[00:13:29] You want a way to escape restraints along with your gun.
[00:13:35] Hopefully it's built on you anyway, like let's say your shoelaces
[00:13:39] or your necklace or your watch band or whatever.
[00:13:44] Let's hope it's already built into what you wear anyway.
[00:13:47] But if it's not, certainly couldn't hurt you to have an extra keychain or something
[00:13:54] in your little concealment storage, say for a cabinet or whatever it is
[00:13:59] with an extra handcuff key and like a ceramic razor blade in there.
[00:14:03] Okay? That's something to consider.
[00:14:06] The other thing to consider would be to hide that type of stuff all around your house
[00:14:12] and if you're going to hide it all around your house
[00:14:16] give some forethought to wear a captor
[00:14:21] if they were going to come into your house and do a home invasion
[00:14:25] and hold you in your house, give some thought to wear that home invader
[00:14:30] or it's going to be a group, it always is.
[00:14:33] Where that group of home invaders is going to want to hold you, right?
[00:14:38] Look at it from the perspective of a bad guy, right?
[00:14:44] So think about it.
[00:14:46] You're in your yard, your yard, duh.
[00:14:50] You're inside your house and you're looking around
[00:14:54] and you've just done a home invasion, you're looking around
[00:14:57] and you're like okay, where am I going to put this family?
[00:15:00] So no one can see them, right?
[00:15:02] So it's probably going to be rooms with no windows or at least blinds
[00:15:04] or something that they can obscure the windows with, right?
[00:15:09] And where is an area that would be quiet if the neighbors heard anything, right?
[00:15:15] So think about those things for your own home.
[00:15:19] Always think through those contingencies.
[00:15:22] What door do you think they're going to come in through?
[00:15:24] What window if you have a window that they might try to come in through?
[00:15:28] Which one is it?
[00:15:29] Are they going to come in through your garage?
[00:15:31] Where is your garage as opposed to your house?
[00:15:35] How many yards is it from your hallway to your front door?
[00:15:39] Is your laser, if you have one, set up for that?
[00:15:41] Is your flashlight?
[00:15:42] If you have one, set up for that.
[00:15:44] What is your sighting system as far as your red dot goes on your home defense rifle,
[00:15:48] shotgun or pistol, right?
[00:15:51] All these things come into play.
[00:15:53] But if you can kind of centralize what room you think that they might try to hold you in
[00:15:59] or what area, hide, escape and evasion gear all around that room.
[00:16:04] It's very easy to take a piece of duct tape and tape a handcuff key right underneath your couch.
[00:16:11] And no one's ever going to know it's there except you, right?
[00:16:14] Think about it.
[00:16:15] Or freaking tape a small razor blade under there.
[00:16:19] It doesn't even have to be a ceramic one.
[00:16:20] It can be a normal razor blade.
[00:16:21] Pop it under there.
[00:16:23] Okay.
[00:16:24] Very, very simple guys.
[00:16:27] Now also keep in mind if the home invasion does happen,
[00:16:31] there's no reason that you can't try to finagle the situation to be put in that room.
[00:16:38] Oh, I can't breathe unless I'm close to my CPAP machine or I need my oxygen and it's inside this room.
[00:16:46] Well, just so happens you've got a razor blade and a freaking handcuff key taped to the side of an oxygen tank.
[00:16:51] Right?
[00:16:52] Not that difficult guys.
[00:16:54] It's just stuff that you got to think about ahead of time before it happens.
[00:16:59] Okay?
[00:17:00] You would be floored if you knew what was around my home.
[00:17:05] Okay?
[00:17:06] Nothing illegal, nothing bad.
[00:17:08] It's just I think about this stuff.
[00:17:11] I think, you know, what if this happens?
[00:17:14] What if that happens?
[00:17:15] What if this happens when I'm in the shower?
[00:17:17] Well, I'm playing for that too.
[00:17:20] You know, it's just one of those things guys.
[00:17:22] You really have to think about this stuff in depth.
[00:17:25] Okay?
[00:17:26] And I'll just tell you right now the easy solution for a shower.
[00:17:29] Get an Otterbox or a Pelican case.
[00:17:32] Pop a small pistol in there and set it up on any one of the shelves or in your bathroom or hang it from the shower head.
[00:17:37] You're good to go.
[00:17:39] Be careful when you're hanging it from the shower head because if it's too heavy, it may pull down on the plumbing and cause a leak inside your walls.
[00:17:45] So be careful with that.
[00:17:47] Otherwise, that's something to consider.
[00:17:50] Okay?
[00:17:51] If you don't have any shelves or you don't have any kind of a, you know, little stand-up thing in the shower,
[00:17:56] you've seen those things with three shelves that you can, you know, brace between the roof and the floor in the shower.
[00:18:01] You know, if you don't have anything like that, there's nothing wrong with taking an old, I don't know,
[00:18:07] shampoo bottle or something like that and pop something in there.
[00:18:11] Just make sure that it's easy enough to get out of there.
[00:18:14] You don't much care if it gets rusty, right?
[00:18:17] If it's a gun.
[00:18:19] And then seal it up with some Saran Wrap.
[00:18:22] Okay?
[00:18:23] Ideally though, you would want to use an Otterbox or something like that.
[00:18:27] Okay?
[00:18:28] There are many, many other ways to conceal gear all around.
[00:18:32] Okay?
[00:18:33] You can also put, you know, a razor, right?
[00:18:36] You're going to have a razor in the shower anyway.
[00:18:38] But you can put a different type of razor in there like a ceramic razor used for, you know,
[00:18:42] cutting ties and zip ties, things like that, right?
[00:18:46] You can put a hand-cuff in there.
[00:18:48] You can put all kinds of stuff in there.
[00:18:50] Some places even sell titanium knives.
[00:18:53] You know, a lot of seal teams like to use titanium knives, you know, when they're scuba diving.
[00:18:57] You know, scuba diving is a period like you use titanium knives.
[00:19:01] Just make sure you get the right type.
[00:19:03] Okay?
[00:19:04] You don't want to get the wrong type of titanium.
[00:19:06] You know, some of it really, really sucks.
[00:19:08] But do your research on that and, you know, find what works best for you.
[00:19:13] But those are just a couple of tips for things that you can do in your own home
[00:19:17] to kind of protect yourself and kind of be ready for things that might go wrong
[00:19:23] in your own home as far as home invasion goes, right?
[00:19:26] Be ready.
[00:19:27] The world of ready, okay?
[00:19:28] Did you see how I did that?
[00:19:29] Do you like that one?
[00:19:30] Okay.
[00:19:33] The next thing, security measures, right?
[00:19:37] So we've got active and passive security measures.
[00:19:42] Both of them are going to come into play, especially when you're protecting your home.
[00:19:45] But remember what we talked about last time when it comes to, you know,
[00:19:49] retreating, regrouping, reassessing, and retaking, and so on, right?
[00:19:55] Remember how that goes down.
[00:19:58] But make sure that you can set up your home or your bug allocation or whatever it is
[00:20:05] to be in Alamo to the best possibility that you can, okay?
[00:20:10] And to the best of your ability, using these types of things will be important.
[00:20:16] Active measures, which would be mostly stationary active measures.
[00:20:20] There are going to be a lot of like active measures when it comes to moving around.
[00:20:24] But when it comes to stationary active measures, they'll also be measures, okay?
[00:20:31] So active stationary measures might be things that are outside the perimeter,
[00:20:35] outside the perimeter of your home.
[00:20:37] Like you've got the internal perimeter of your home and the external perimeter of your home, okay?
[00:20:42] Active measures for the outside perimeter of your home are going to be observation posts
[00:20:46] and security patrols, especially in SHTF situation.
[00:20:49] Of course you're going to have patrols.
[00:20:51] Of course you're going to have OPs.
[00:20:52] It's obvious, you know?
[00:20:54] It doesn't make any sense any other way, right?
[00:20:56] So you're going to have OPs.
[00:21:00] You're going to have security patrols.
[00:21:01] You're also going to have things like battle positions, combat patrols and reconnaissance patrols, right?
[00:21:06] Now these would be places that your guys would deploy to if they needed to protect your home
[00:21:12] or your family might deploy to to protect your home as well, right?
[00:21:19] You might have early warning devices and heck, depending on where your home is located,
[00:21:25] you might even establish roadblocks or at the very least establish some checkpoints, right?
[00:21:31] Some of you guys know this.
[00:21:33] Some of you guys don't but I live on a hill, okay?
[00:21:36] I live on a hill.
[00:21:37] So it's not very hard for me to establish a roadblock or a checkpoint coming up to my house
[00:21:42] because I hate to break it to anybody who would want to come up here.
[00:21:45] There's only one way up and there's only one way down, you know, in a vehicle.
[00:21:52] I'll just leave that to your imagination.
[00:21:55] Yeah, there's only one way down.
[00:21:58] Only one way up.
[00:22:00] So setting up a roadblock, setting up a way to stop people from getting up here is not hard, right?
[00:22:08] Now could someone get up here on foot?
[00:22:10] Absolutely they could.
[00:22:11] Absolutely.
[00:22:12] That would not be a difficult thing to do for someone who, you know, is in moderately decent shape, okay?
[00:22:18] I'm not saying I live in the freaking Masada or something, okay?
[00:22:22] It's not like that and if you don't know what Masada is, look it up.
[00:22:26] And it's not the freaking gun that you might pull made back in the day.
[00:22:31] It's an Israeli...
[00:22:33] Anyway, just look it up.
[00:22:36] So the other option, as far as active measures goes, is inside the perimeter, okay?
[00:22:44] Inside your Alamo, inside your home, inside your bug allocation, whatever it is, right?
[00:22:49] You have to establish...
[00:22:52] Sorry, you have to establish access points, right?
[00:22:56] Front door, back door, windows, entrance, exit.
[00:23:00] What do you want to do, right?
[00:23:02] So if the crap hit the fan, I would establish certain points of entry and exit to my home.
[00:23:08] But I would be using materials, you know, building materials, you know, and wood, screws, metals, so on and so forth
[00:23:14] to build it the way that I would want it.
[00:23:16] And I have some ideas on exactly how I would do that.
[00:23:19] Like again, like I said before, plan guys, plan, okay?
[00:23:24] Establish the number and types of positions to be manned.
[00:23:28] Establish readiness control, okay?
[00:23:31] Redcon levels, right?
[00:23:32] Readiness control levels.
[00:23:34] That's called Redcon, okay?
[00:23:37] Designate a reserve or response force, okay?
[00:23:42] Now, is it going to depend on how big your crew is?
[00:23:44] How big your tribe is?
[00:23:46] Is it all going to depend on how big your family is, right?
[00:23:49] All of this stuff comes into play.
[00:23:52] It's not just as simple as, oh, I'm going to have a readiness crew.
[00:23:56] I'm going to have a freaking response force.
[00:23:59] It's perfectly fine.
[00:24:01] But if it's just you and your wife and your son,
[00:24:04] probably not going to go down that way, right?
[00:24:07] So something to think about, you know what I mean?
[00:24:10] Something to think about, okay?
[00:24:12] All right.
[00:24:14] When it comes to this type of stuff,
[00:24:17] Redcon, for instance, readiness control levels.
[00:24:21] If you're telling your family, you know,
[00:24:23] Redcon 1 means, you know, grab your gun, it's going down.
[00:24:27] Redcon 2 means, you know, get here, get home as soon as you can,
[00:24:31] you know, so on and so forth, right?
[00:24:33] All of these things are important.
[00:24:35] Rally points, if you're not at home, that's important.
[00:24:39] Understanding the types of positions you're going to have
[00:24:42] around your home or even in your home.
[00:24:45] All of that is important, right?
[00:24:48] There was, I remember when me and my wife were looking at homes
[00:24:52] before we bought this one.
[00:24:55] We were looking at houses out in somewhere in North,
[00:25:01] Northern Arizona.
[00:25:03] And one of the houses that we looked at,
[00:25:07] it had what looked kind of like a deer stand,
[00:25:12] but it wasn't a hunting reserve.
[00:25:16] It wasn't like BLM land.
[00:25:18] There shouldn't be a deer stand there, is all I'm getting at.
[00:25:22] It didn't look like a tree house.
[00:25:25] It looked 100% like a guard tower.
[00:25:30] And I showed it to my wife and I'm like,
[00:25:33] what do you think that's for?
[00:25:35] And she was like probably the same thing that that's for.
[00:25:38] And she pointed to another one.
[00:25:40] And I was like, oh my gosh.
[00:25:42] And then we looked and there was two more.
[00:25:45] There were no peas in this place.
[00:25:47] There was four guard towers on this property.
[00:25:50] They were, I would say roughly about,
[00:25:54] I want to say about 16 feet tall, roughly give or take,
[00:25:58] 16 feet, 12 feet, something like that.
[00:26:01] They're pretty tall.
[00:26:03] They're pretty tall, okay?
[00:26:05] I was kind of floored but kind of interested in that house.
[00:26:10] I was like, man, I want this place so bad just because of that, right?
[00:26:14] And the problem was, the house itself was,
[00:26:16] it was pretty bad.
[00:26:18] It was pretty gross.
[00:26:20] Me and the wife were fixing this place up,
[00:26:22] but that place was like, no,
[00:26:24] we're going to have to bulldoze this and start all over again.
[00:26:26] This is not doable.
[00:26:28] So we wouldn't be able to get a loan for it.
[00:26:32] It was just one of those things that was like,
[00:26:34] no, we can't do this.
[00:26:36] That being said, it sure would have been fun to explore that property
[00:26:39] and find out if there was a bunker or there's anything else there
[00:26:42] because oh my goodness gracious, it sure was interesting.
[00:26:46] Anyways, passive measures, okay?
[00:26:50] And this can tie in to your active measures, right?
[00:26:53] This can tie into your active measures.
[00:26:56] Some of your passive measures might be noise and light discipline.
[00:27:01] That makes a big difference, especially if the crap is hit the fan
[00:27:04] and you've got a house
[00:27:06] and you know that there's roving gangs of idiots around
[00:27:09] that might try to harm you or your family, right?
[00:27:12] So maybe it'd be a good idea at night
[00:27:14] if you turned off all the lights and looked like there was no one there.
[00:27:18] Maybe not.
[00:27:19] You know, again, it's kind of for everyone to kind of decide for themselves, right?
[00:27:23] It may not be the best idea for, you know,
[00:27:27] someone to think that there is no one home.
[00:27:30] You know, because then they might try to go inside.
[00:27:33] You never know, right?
[00:27:35] That's more like light discipline, right?
[00:27:38] Then you've got noise discipline.
[00:27:40] That's something that will matter as well.
[00:27:42] Is there, you know, or if the crap hits the fan
[00:27:45] are you outside with a bunch of your friends, you know, barbecuing?
[00:27:49] All the meat that is now available because the power's gone out
[00:27:54] and you don't have a backup generator
[00:27:56] so you've got to cook all the meat that's in your freezer, right?
[00:27:59] So are you having a barbecue or what are you doing there, right?
[00:28:02] Something to think about.
[00:28:04] And that extends even further than that, guys.
[00:28:07] Noise and light discipline extend much, much, much, much further
[00:28:11] than just the obvious, okay?
[00:28:16] Noise and light discipline extends to your team
[00:28:22] that might be guarding the place.
[00:28:24] It extends to your family to understand more
[00:28:27] if you're moving through an environment.
[00:28:29] You know, if you had to bug out, that extends to that.
[00:28:32] Noise and light discipline extends to how you treat the area around you.
[00:28:39] Do you want anyone to know you're there?
[00:28:41] No, never.
[00:28:43] You never want anyone to know where you're at if you can avoid it, right?
[00:28:47] Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to noise and light discipline
[00:28:50] I would also say thermal and night vision discipline as well, okay?
[00:28:57] If you have night vision and thermal,
[00:28:59] you know exactly what I'm talking about
[00:29:01] and if you don't have the information on what mitigation measures you need
[00:29:06] I would suggest you look into it, okay?
[00:29:09] All right.
[00:29:11] Next thing, signal security.
[00:29:13] That's passive measures.
[00:29:15] Signal security.
[00:29:16] What do you mean by that?
[00:29:17] What I mean by that is making sure that if you do have any comms going back and forth
[00:29:23] that it is a secured channel.
[00:29:25] It is a secured way of communication, if possible, right?
[00:29:32] You guys have probably listened to some of the other stuff on PBN
[00:29:36] about you know, mesh-tastic stuff, about encryption, about all kinds of different stuff.
[00:29:43] If you don't know a lot about it,
[00:29:45] one suggestion would be a really good channel suggestion
[00:29:48] like on YouTube or even podcasts would be someone called S2 Underground, okay?
[00:29:55] Sierra2 Underground.
[00:29:57] I love his channel, man.
[00:29:59] It's freaking amazing.
[00:30:00] Check it out on YouTube.
[00:30:01] Check it out on podcasts.
[00:30:03] You guys will love it too if you want to know more about Como, Escape Evasion,
[00:30:07] all kinds of stuff like that.
[00:30:08] The guy really truly does know his crap, okay?
[00:30:11] If you don't know what an S2 is, look it up.
[00:30:14] Alright, the last thing that I'm going to talk about before I end this thing
[00:30:19] is camouflage deceptive measures and cover and consume it.
[00:30:24] Okay? Those are passive measures again, right?
[00:30:27] So camouflage.
[00:30:29] If you do have OP's around your house that you would fall to, right?
[00:30:33] Or that you would man immediately if the crap is the fan
[00:30:36] and you know you're going to need to be in there occasionally, right?
[00:30:39] You don't just want an OP that's spray-painted Hunter Orange, right?
[00:30:43] You want an OP that's camouflage.
[00:30:45] It looks like it's just part of the environment, right?
[00:30:48] So consider that.
[00:30:50] Consider that type of stuff.
[00:30:52] You'll want anything around you to be able to be concealed, covered, right?
[00:30:59] If you're growing food, you might consider growing your food
[00:31:03] in and among some stuff that just looks like weeds, okay?
[00:31:07] You might consider growing your food in an area that maybe nobody really knows is there, right?
[00:31:14] You take a lesson from the Viet Cong on that one.
[00:31:17] You know, good old Charlie, right?
[00:31:20] Learned a little something from Charlie, don't you know?
[00:31:23] Anyways.
[00:31:25] Oh Steve.
[00:31:26] So, covering, consuming camouflage deceptive measures, right?
[00:31:32] So, deceptive measures.
[00:31:35] I'm sure you guys probably know what that is.
[00:31:37] But if you do have a very overt OP or a guard shack or anything like that
[00:31:42] that you might be setting up for your little ALMO, your bug allocation, whatever it is,
[00:31:48] maybe set up two or three of them, you know?
[00:31:51] To where it's like, oh, okay, well it's not just as simple as, you know, that place being there.
[00:31:56] Maybe you set one up that looks like that and that's not what it is, okay?
[00:32:01] You know, maybe you set up a few OP's that are overtly obvious, you know?
[00:32:07] Just give it some thought guys.
[00:32:09] It's really not that difficult.
[00:32:10] Just give it some thought and start putting your plan together, okay?
[00:32:15] Alright guys, I'm going to stop there.
[00:32:17] I hope you guys found this stuff informative.
[00:32:20] Don't forget to go over and check out the World of Ready.
[00:32:24] It'll be out April 28th.

[00:32:28] I'm sure you will love it.
[00:32:30] Also, don't forget to go to Shomer Tech and get yourself some escape and evasion gear.
[00:32:34] I'm sure you'll love it too.
