[00:00:07] Welcome back to the Changing Earth Podcast with author Sarah F. Hathaway and co-host Chen Gibson.

[00:00:14] Blending survival fiction and fact to bring you entertaining education that will help you dream, survive and thrive.

[00:00:23] And now here's your host Sarah F. Hathaway and Chen Gibson.

[00:00:29] Hello and welcome back to the Changing Earth Podcast.

[00:00:33] This is episode number 473 and we are somewhere within season 16.

[00:00:41] We're kind of going to be jumping back on track of getting you a regular show here,

[00:00:45] but we've had some doozies since September and it was really nice to have Marjorie on last week.

[00:00:51] That was a treat. So yeah, that was great. Right? Hey, Tim, what's up?

[00:00:56] Oh my God, I forgot to bring Chin in.

[00:00:59] That's okay. I'll just jump right in.

[00:01:01] Yeah, you just jump in.

[00:01:05] As you should. You should know me well enough by now.

[00:01:09] Yeah, that was a treat. She was great to talk to you.

[00:01:12] And I mean the soil decontamination process is one that I've really been looking into because...

[00:01:22] I don't know. Like she says, everything's just impossible to kind of grow in Texas.

[00:01:27] So if you can like...

[00:01:28] Right.

[00:01:30] ...make that process easier, that's going to be a good thing.

[00:01:34] Yeah, I got some some red dirt clay up here that's just...

[00:01:40] Weeds grow really well in it, but everything that you want to grow is a challenge.

[00:01:44] Yeah. And then you find yourself having to dig down to like be able to put in new soil.

[00:01:50] And then, you know, after talking to her and about the bio sludge and all of that stuff, I'm like, man, what...

[00:01:56] Well, you know, what in this world can you really trust anymore? Nothing.

[00:02:02] So it's all about like making your own compost.

[00:02:05] We've been working with an area in the backyard where we're just trying to feed it biomass, you know, like all the chicken scrappings go in there.

[00:02:15] Any of our, you know, literally just pine needles and foliage and we're just letting it grow wild and trying to just put biomass down in that ground so we can rototill it in there and have an actual better dirt.

[00:02:29] Yeah. Because we know it happens out here.

[00:02:32] My mother-in-law's place has way more trees and whatnot than ours does and her soil is just beautiful.

[00:02:38] It's like, we'll just go over there and dig up the soil.

[00:02:41] Right?

[00:02:42] Yeah.

[00:02:45] So anyway, I have great news for everyone who's into the Changing Earth audio drama.

[00:02:52] Um, I put the final touches on episode 16 right before I got on air here.

[00:03:01] Um, so it looks like we're going to be able to just roll through, uh, the holidays with Changing Earth audio drama, which, you know, makes a great Christmas time story.

[00:03:11] It's very much a Hallmark movie.

[00:03:13] So, um...

[00:03:17] Yeah, nothing says Christmas like post-apocalyptic storylines.

[00:03:21] Exactly. Exactly. Yeah.

[00:03:23] Um, I work, I'll slide in a family feud.

[00:03:26] I'll try and slide in a family feud where we're supposed to have it.

[00:03:29] Um, I'll, I'll work that out, um, as far as the scheduling goes.

[00:03:33] But yeah, it looks like we'll be able to run straight through to the end of, uh, episode four or the episode, uh, season 16.

[00:03:40] So, no, season four, episode 16.

[00:03:44] I'm working with way too many projects.

[00:03:46] Uh, right now, episode 11 is up for your viewing pleasure.

[00:03:54] Everybody go and check that out.

[00:03:55] It is posted and 12 is up for members.

[00:03:58] I didn't skip a beat.

[00:04:00] I just scheduled and scheduled for, uh, Thanksgiving and whatnot.

[00:04:04] So, um, those are available.

[00:04:06] I also have some great deals going on the Changing Earth novel series.

[00:04:11] You're never going to get another deal like this.

[00:04:13] You just use the offer code HOLINE.

[00:04:16] It's all on my website.

[00:04:17] It's not really hard to miss.

[00:04:19] So, if you know somebody who's into reading, want a great book series for them,

[00:04:23] you're just not going to be able to beat the price I got on them right now over there.

[00:04:26] So, go and pick them up.

[00:04:28] I only have a few of those left.

[00:04:29] They are going pretty quick.

[00:04:31] So, uh, get on over there.

[00:04:33] ChangingEarthSeries.com.

[00:04:34] That's ChangingEarthSeries.com.

[00:04:37] And, uh, get your copy.

[00:04:38] We also have really cool shirts over there as well, uh, for the holidays.

[00:04:43] Well, if you have a workout nut that you love or somebody that, uh, you know,

[00:04:48] took the risk of going to prepper camp, stuff like that, or just loves Changing Earth merch.

[00:04:52] Yeah.

[00:04:54] So, the shirts turned out pretty good.

[00:04:55] I was wearing my hoodie.

[00:04:56] The hoodie's still in there?

[00:04:57] Oh, the hoodie's still up there.

[00:04:59] I was wearing my hoodie yesterday.

[00:05:00] Yeah.

[00:05:01] The cold weather just came rushing in.

[00:05:04] Oh, it did.

[00:05:04] And those sweatshirts are so comfortable.

[00:05:07] Yep.

[00:05:07] I had it on yesterday.

[00:05:09] Yeah.

[00:05:09] They don't have the pointy hoods.

[00:05:11] Um, I hate the pointy hoods.

[00:05:12] I just hate them.

[00:05:14] So, yeah, they have the, you know, they're good quality and really reasonably priced, honestly.

[00:05:20] Like, 30 bucks for a sweatshirt that's like a really good quality like that.

[00:05:24] Yeah.

[00:05:24] That's a great deal.

[00:05:25] So, uh, I, I try to make it as, you know, affordable for you guys as possible.

[00:05:30] I don't, don't make much off of that.

[00:05:32] So, it's all for you guys.

[00:05:35] Get that Changing Merch merch out there.

[00:05:37] Changing Earth merch.

[00:05:40] Alrighty.

[00:05:40] So, yeah.

[00:05:41] Yeah.

[00:05:42] So, um, today we're breaking down season three, episode one.

[00:05:46] It's been a while since we touched back on the audio drama.

[00:05:49] We've been busy.

[00:05:51] And we had Burgess.

[00:05:52] So, that was fun.

[00:05:54] Fun to do another book.

[00:05:56] But, I really wanted to get back to season three because there's so much wilderness survival packed in, uh, particularly the first half of this book that, um, I know I've said it before, but I always wanted to do like the ding dong survival tip, right?

[00:06:17] On it.

[00:06:18] Like, do a live show of it where I could, maybe we'll do that.

[00:06:22] I've been looking at live casting on Twitter.

[00:06:25] Maybe we'll do that where I'll put it on and then I'll just sit there and give all the survival tips in the background about, oh, like the mystery theater or what's it?

[00:06:36] What's it?

[00:06:37] That, uh, dinner, uh, dinner and a movie or whatever.

[00:06:41] Yeah.

[00:06:41] It's a sci-fi thing and they have the puppets like the, yeah, how it was in front of the screen.

[00:06:47] Yeah.

[00:06:47] That pop up.

[00:06:48] Uh huh.

[00:06:49] Yep.

[00:06:49] I'm like, yeah.

[00:06:51] So that, it's something I really wanted to do with my books.

[00:06:54] Um, my background is from Gina Mauel's books because so much fact was put into her fiction.

[00:07:01] That's what really inspired me to write this fictional story.

[00:07:04] But also I've heard stories of like women that were aggressed or whatever and because they seen some defense technique on, um, walking dead, they were able to defend themselves, you know?

[00:07:16] Get their katana out.

[00:07:17] Yeah.

[00:07:18] Yeah.

[00:07:19] Yeah.

[00:07:19] They're katana and spin in circles and suck them into the whirlwind.

[00:07:23] So do a Bob it.

[00:07:26] Yeah.

[00:07:27] Hey man, it's not held on by much.

[00:07:29] You know, you gotta realize that.

[00:07:30] Stop.

[00:07:30] Okay.

[00:07:31] We can change the subject.

[00:07:32] I'm just saying.

[00:07:33] Grip it, rip it.

[00:07:36] Rick loved that.

[00:07:37] She's like, wow.

[00:07:38] He's like, wow.

[00:07:38] No wonder her husband's so respectful.

[00:07:42] Oh, that's the truth of it though.

[00:07:46] So just jumping in to the beginning of the story, Burgess is talking about how the maps have changed.

[00:07:53] You know, that the world that Erica remember back in the day.

[00:07:57] Welcome to my world.

[00:07:59] Yeah.

[00:07:59] I was gonna say, haven't we seen that in motion right now?

[00:08:03] Oh, it's.

[00:08:04] Oh.

[00:08:05] So you have a big disaster like a hurricane Helene and the landscape is literally you're

[00:08:13] going to be different.

[00:08:14] They're having problems with property lines.

[00:08:17] Um, you know, where exactly the property lines are now and things like that back there.

[00:08:22] Yeah.

[00:08:22] So things are going to change.

[00:08:25] You know, if we have a big disaster that rocks the entire world or, you know, at least

[00:08:31] the United States, your map might not be as reliable as it was.

[00:08:35] That's something we've never really explored because we didn't have a high definition picture

[00:08:41] of that particular thing happening, but we certainly do now.

[00:08:46] We do now.

[00:08:47] Holy.

[00:08:48] Right.

[00:08:50] Um, and then it goes into talking about Chappie cause Chappie passed away and Chappie had a

[00:08:58] brain injury from his battle.

[00:09:00] Um, this happens all the time.

[00:09:03] People hit their head too hard.

[00:09:04] They might appear perfectly normal, have bleeding on the brain and then they pass away.

[00:09:10] Um, hockey games actually like people in the stands that have been hit by pucks.

[00:09:16] This is happening.

[00:09:17] I got hit by a puck.

[00:09:18] Did you?

[00:09:19] Yeah.

[00:09:20] Yeah.

[00:09:20] Crazy.

[00:09:21] Yeah.

[00:09:22] Yeah.

[00:09:23] So, um, there, there was a story of this lady who got hit and like everything was good,

[00:09:27] you know, and then she died later and it's because.

[00:09:29] No, I didn't.

[00:09:30] I'm still here.

[00:09:31] Yeah.

[00:09:31] Yeah.

[00:09:31] Well, I hope so.

[00:09:33] I hope so.

[00:09:34] I'm here to go host.

[00:09:35] You're my guy.

[00:09:37] I mean lost.

[00:09:39] Um, but, uh, you know, there's a lot of medical things that we couldn't identify if we didn't

[00:09:47] have our modern technology.

[00:09:48] Um, a lot of women used to die in childbirth and, uh, things like that, that we owe our

[00:09:55] modern tech to.

[00:09:57] So it's really important for everyone to have a basic understanding of medical, you know,

[00:10:04] a good book at the very minimum.

[00:10:07] Um, there's great examples.

[00:10:09] Um, we have the one that we have on PBN.

[00:10:13] I can't remember the name of it right now.

[00:10:15] Um, but, uh, Dr. Bones and nurse Amy have a huge pantheon of information over at doom and bloom.

[00:10:24] Uh, dot net.

[00:10:27] And so book is the very minimum.

[00:10:31] If you have a preexisting medical problem, that's gotta be thought about right now.

[00:10:38] Uh, before anything were to happen to the supply chain and it doesn't have to be like the great quake or some worldwide event, you know, look at what happened just during the, you know, when we had the medical incident going on.

[00:10:50] Um, and supply chain was slackened.

[00:10:53] Um, you know, things don't flow the way they're supposed to, and you're relying upon that medication.

[00:10:58] You better have a backup.

[00:11:03] Okay.

[00:11:04] Next on the list is long range bug out blisters and pack rubs.

[00:11:11] So they've been walking for days on the March.

[00:11:15] I don't care how comfortable your shoes are.

[00:11:19] Your feet are going to hurt.

[00:11:20] Like you can't just walk, um, for hours and hours every day and not feel it.

[00:11:27] Um, so blisters rubbing from your pack.

[00:11:32] I don't care how comfortable your pack is.

[00:11:34] It still has contact points on your body where it's going to rub.

[00:11:38] It's going to be a pain in the butt.

[00:11:40] So, um, they make the, um, monkey butt, the powder, you know, that helps.

[00:11:45] It is.

[00:11:46] It literally is.

[00:11:48] Um, for like, how do you carry your back?

[00:11:50] Back back.

[00:11:51] Under your butt.

[00:11:53] It's for like rubs, you know, um, guys that are in construction, wearing the tool belts around all the time.

[00:12:00] Yeah.

[00:12:01] You get to rubbing and all of that's just, you know, annoying to the skin.

[00:12:05] And so, and those blisters, I mean, that's what, uh, what Lisa Goodwin works with is the blisters that turn into infections that turn into these, um, you know, wounds that need caring for.

[00:12:19] That's not the situation you want to be in when you're not in like a clean environment.

[00:12:24] So it's really, really important to pay attention to those blisters.

[00:12:28] Uh, moleskin.

[00:12:30] Yep.

[00:12:30] Yeah.

[00:12:31] We pair, we put that in our packs.

[00:12:34] I put that everywhere.

[00:12:36] Yeah.

[00:12:37] Oh, I love moleskin.

[00:12:39] Um, when I was coaching ice hockey, the, the parents would always buy the kids new skates right before a week, week long hockey camp.

[00:12:48] Not broken in, right?

[00:12:49] Yeah.

[00:12:50] It's the worst idea.

[00:12:51] It's like hiking boots.

[00:12:52] Yeah.

[00:12:52] Yeah.

[00:12:54] And a lot of people do have like that pair on the shelf that they're like, Oh, this is for the rainy day.

[00:12:59] Well, make sure they're broken in before you just throw them on.

[00:13:05] So blisters and pack rubs.

[00:13:09] I will link this over.

[00:13:10] I'm going to link a lot of this.

[00:13:12] So if you're getting information way too fast today and you're like, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Sarah, slow down.

[00:13:19] Um, I'm going to put the topics on a blog for y'all and then I'll link it through to all the information that I have on these topics because the changing our survival guide is pretty, um, has a lot of topics in there now that, uh, are pretty important for everyone.

[00:13:38] So I'm feeling pretty good about the, the pantheon of work that I've put together over there.

[00:13:44] So I'll go ahead and link that stuff through setting up a camp out of nothing.

[00:13:51] So they're walking along.

[00:13:53] They need to have this camp.

[00:13:55] They find this area.

[00:13:56] Rocks are going to be your friend.

[00:13:58] They reflect heat back.

[00:14:01] If you don't want somebody to see your fire, you shouldn't be building it above ground.

[00:14:06] But, uh, we'll get into that later on in this, uh, series.

[00:14:11] But as far as like, if the fire can be visible and whatnot, putting it in an L of rocks is a good idea because they will reflect back.

[00:14:21] Now I'm talking about like big rocks.

[00:14:25] And there's a couple of different schools of thought on this because yes, the rocks are going to reflect heat, but rocks can actually explode with fire too.

[00:14:37] Moisturing it, right?

[00:14:38] Yeah.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:39] The moisture can cause the rock to explode.

[00:14:43] So I'm not a big fan of like throwing rocks in the fire unless you know they're dry because that's a great way to actually boil water is using hot rocks.

[00:14:53] Mm-hmm.

[00:14:54] But, um, you, you have to realize like you can't take a super saturated, saturated rock and just throw it in the fire.

[00:15:01] You're going to have a problem.

[00:15:03] So this is where, you know, getting out there, knowing your skills ahead of time, practicing with things ahead of time is really important to prevent mistakes when you're in a serious situation.

[00:15:18] But, this story is actually based off of this camp that we built up in Tahoe when we were on a survival trip.

[00:15:24] And we found this perfect L in the rocks and we were able to set up this like granite grill just about.

[00:15:32] And, uh, roast rabbit on the grill with our wild forageables we had collected.

[00:15:37] And it was really cool.

[00:15:39] So there are, you know, they are super usable.

[00:15:42] I wouldn't be afraid of the rocks.

[00:15:43] Just know what you're doing.

[00:15:44] Like, don't take one out of the lake and put it in the fire.

[00:15:49] Have you ever seen one explode?

[00:15:54] Not a big one.

[00:15:55] Just smaller.

[00:15:57] Just smaller.

[00:15:57] Yeah.

[00:15:58] Yeah.

[00:16:01] We've done it.

[00:16:01] It's not pretty.

[00:16:02] It's not.

[00:16:03] And rock shards are, no.

[00:16:05] Yeah.

[00:16:05] Yeah, you don't play with it.

[00:16:08] Okay.

[00:16:09] Then we're going, walking into a little bit of Swenson's story.

[00:16:12] Obviously, his is more about like, if you have a big supply of food and you have a big supply of water and you have a big supply of weapons, you're probably going to be a pretty popular person in that region.

[00:16:26] Mm-hmm.

[00:16:27] Right?

[00:16:28] So, whatever attitude that leader brings to the table, that's what you're going to be subjected to.

[00:16:38] And, you know, Swenson had his way of life before the quake and he's got his way of life after the quake and that's what you're going to be subjected to.

[00:16:48] It was interesting talking to Marjorie last week about her thought as far as, here I am in the middle of Texas with all these people armed to the teeth.

[00:16:59] And, right?

[00:17:01] It makes you think a little bit about like, oh man.

[00:17:04] And also, Selko, his stuff was always super interesting.

[00:17:09] Mm-hmm.

[00:17:10] He was the Bosnian War, I believe.

[00:17:13] Yeah.

[00:17:14] But his story about like, 200 people show up in your front yard, what do you do?

[00:17:22] I mean...

[00:17:22] Hopefully you have situational awareness.

[00:17:24] Yeah.

[00:17:25] Hopefully you're not there anymore.

[00:17:27] Yeah.

[00:17:28] And you can escape to somewhere.

[00:17:30] Like, he was in a walled-in city or like they had that surrounded, you know?

[00:17:34] So, yeah.

[00:17:38] I would definitely be alert as to who the players in your area might be.

[00:17:48] Alrighty.

[00:17:49] Then, Erica pulls this mistake.

[00:17:52] This is just...

[00:17:53] She's tired.

[00:17:54] She's just hugging her kid.

[00:17:56] Just chilling.

[00:17:58] When you're tired, tired, situational awareness is gonna go down.

[00:18:05] I know it from doing long road trips.

[00:18:09] Yeah.

[00:18:09] And things like that.

[00:18:10] And that's when mistakes are made.

[00:18:12] That's when you get grumpy about mistakes.

[00:18:16] So, literally, you need to account for those dulled senses.

[00:18:20] The world's gonna push you to do what you need to do.

[00:18:22] You might not be able to control that situation.

[00:18:24] But you do need to be aware if you are tired and you know it, you're gonna start making more mistakes.

[00:18:32] You need to make sure you're back checking yourself more.

[00:18:36] And she left her pistol in the backpack.

[00:18:42] I mean, totally unacceptable mistake right there.

[00:18:49] But that brings us into force versus compliance.

[00:18:53] So, one of the things that I thought about a lot when we were talking with Doug about martial law was...

[00:19:04] You know, I'm kind of a...

[00:19:08] I'm not always the most compliant person.

[00:19:11] Right?

[00:19:13] And...

[00:19:15] And there's just times when it's like...

[00:19:20] Is that to your detriment?

[00:19:21] You know?

[00:19:23] Think big picture.

[00:19:24] Right?

[00:19:25] If you can put that on the shelf for a minute so you can survive longer...

[00:19:30] Mm-hmm.

[00:19:31] Then that's...

[00:19:32] That could be to your benefit.

[00:19:34] Unless it was like, you know, something unacceptable is gonna happen to you that, you know, you'd rather die first.

[00:19:40] Right.

[00:19:41] But if you're not gonna die...

[00:19:44] And, you know, they come to your door or whatever, whoever comes to your door, whoever it is,

[00:19:48] law enforcement or, you know, the mob with Splenson in charge, you know?

[00:19:53] If your compliance gets you another day of life to figure out what you're gonna do, then maybe it is best to go along for a little bit until you can figure out alternate plans.

[00:20:05] You get a chance to read the landscape before you take action.

[00:20:09] Right.

[00:20:09] Right.

[00:20:10] Like how they were waiting it out in Vegas, you know, for that moment.

[00:20:13] Mm-hmm.

[00:20:14] Because they tried some attempts and things didn't work out, right?

[00:20:18] So, yeah.

[00:20:21] So that was a deeper thought process that I had to go through as far as thinking about like, okay, well, this may be what I want and where I stand firm on my values of what's right in this world.

[00:20:35] But play along to get along so you can change what's happening tomorrow instead of losing your life today.

[00:20:46] Maybe that is a better option at times.

[00:20:50] Yep.

[00:20:50] Yeah.

[00:20:51] So that was way to go, Doug.

[00:20:53] Thank you very much.

[00:20:58] I think it was like Catholic school upbringing.

[00:21:01] I love my Lord and Savior, but boy, those rules.

[00:21:05] Those rules just got me when I was young.

[00:21:10] It's the problem of being young.

[00:21:12] Yeah, fair.

[00:21:13] But money go everything.

[00:21:15] Young kids know everything.

[00:21:18] Mm-hmm.

[00:21:19] Yeah.

[00:21:22] Okay.

[00:21:23] And then obviously, so these guys come in and they now have control over Erica and Star.

[00:21:31] So one of the things that I believe in and preach so much about is women's self-defense.

[00:21:39] Gotta go young.

[00:21:40] Gotta teach women young to let them know that the threat exists out there.

[00:21:47] Hopefully they have good fathers, but they have to know that all men are not like their wonderful father.

[00:21:59] And before, even when I was talking to Ben Brennan, when he used to come on the show years ago, he would tell me, you know, Sarah, one in 10.

[00:22:08] One in 10.

[00:22:09] Yeah.

[00:22:09] One in 10.

[00:22:12] And now one in six Americans is an illegal alien that might have questionable backgrounds of where they came from.

[00:22:23] And it could be a Venezuelan prison and it could be.

[00:22:25] Did you see the graph that I shared in the back channel?

[00:22:29] Yeah.

[00:22:30] I liked how you saw the graph.

[00:22:32] Yeah.

[00:22:33] I was like, hey, that looks like middle finger.

[00:22:36] I was just flipping off America.

[00:22:38] It was a big spike.

[00:22:38] Yeah.

[00:22:39] It was a graph by years and the number of people coming across the border.

[00:22:42] And there was this huge spike.

[00:22:44] And Sarah says, that looks like the middle finger be given to America.

[00:22:48] Right?

[00:22:49] Oh, I just cracked it.

[00:22:51] Well, that really got my noodle thinking because I was like, I like to believe everybody's a good person.

[00:22:56] Did you see where they were coming from?

[00:22:59] I've.

[00:22:59] Like there was people coming from like all over, like China, North Korea, Iran, Iraq.

[00:23:04] Right.

[00:23:04] I mean, they didn't just walk here.

[00:23:06] No, no, that didn't just happen.

[00:23:10] And you got to believe like North Korea that again, they didn't just get here.

[00:23:16] No, they were probably.

[00:23:18] Planting.

[00:23:18] Planting.

[00:23:19] Yes, ma'am.

[00:23:20] Yeah.

[00:23:20] Because even to get out of that country, you.

[00:23:23] That's what I'm saying.

[00:23:24] I mean, some places.

[00:23:25] Yeah.

[00:23:25] People are trying to get out of because of the condition that they're in.

[00:23:28] They're trying to.

[00:23:29] Yeah.

[00:23:31] But some places, you know, they can't just get out of.

[00:23:34] Right.

[00:23:34] And it's not like they crossed into South Korea or, you know, you know.

[00:23:39] Yeah.

[00:23:39] Went along like a refugee railroad or something.

[00:23:42] Yeah.

[00:23:42] This is like they went across the ocean.

[00:23:45] Yeah.

[00:23:45] It didn't just happen.

[00:23:46] And just arrived on the shore.

[00:23:48] Come on now.

[00:23:50] Right.

[00:23:51] So.

[00:23:52] Now that.

[00:23:53] Yeah, that was really because now that number has got to be a lot more than one in ten.

[00:23:58] Mm hmm.

[00:23:59] And people.

[00:24:01] Yeah.

[00:24:01] I've seen some of the news reports and court cases.

[00:24:04] They just.

[00:24:05] The.

[00:24:06] What was he?

[00:24:07] Vince.

[00:24:07] The guy that killed.

[00:24:10] Yeah.

[00:24:11] That.

[00:24:11] Lincoln Riley.

[00:24:12] Right.

[00:24:12] Yeah.

[00:24:13] Probably not gentlemen.

[00:24:14] I've got much more.

[00:24:17] Yeah.

[00:24:19] Yeah.

[00:24:20] But.

[00:24:21] No, just disgusting.

[00:24:23] And then even just smaller stories like.

[00:24:25] God, I can't remember if like mayor congressperson in York like their assistant was like assaulted

[00:24:31] right there coming out of work.

[00:24:34] And I mean, there's just absolutely problems everywhere.

[00:24:39] So I know that number has got to be much more than one ten.

[00:24:42] Any we need.

[00:24:43] We live in.

[00:24:45] We were like raised in this world where I was like, oh, everything is just so safe here.

[00:24:51] So safe.

[00:24:53] And.

[00:24:54] It's not guys.

[00:24:55] It's not like you've got to be ready and live peacefully live with that belief, but

[00:25:04] know how to defend yourself just in case you were wrong.

[00:25:09] All right.

[00:25:09] And then Vince takes this guy out.

[00:25:12] So now the question becomes like, what do you do with disagreeable people when there's

[00:25:18] no police to call?

[00:25:20] When there's no jail to put them in.

[00:25:25] I mean, he just came upon this guy.

[00:25:27] He was.

[00:25:29] Had nefarious thoughts on his mind towards your family.

[00:25:35] And, you know, you just kill him.

[00:25:38] Did just.

[00:25:41] You know, how how is this handled?

[00:25:43] Right.

[00:25:44] Each situation is going to be its own situation.

[00:25:47] You're going to have to deal with that.

[00:25:48] You can't just call somebody and be like, hey, I got a pickup.

[00:25:52] You know.

[00:25:54] Brock.

[00:25:55] There's a long term ramifications to it.

[00:25:57] It's just not the quick fix.

[00:25:59] What what's what's three plays down the field.

[00:26:03] Right.

[00:26:04] Yes.

[00:26:05] Yeah.

[00:26:06] Who who was he friends with?

[00:26:08] Mm hmm.

[00:26:09] What kind of a mess is that going to start?

[00:26:12] Mm hmm.

[00:26:14] Yeah.

[00:26:15] There's so much that needs to be thought through there.

[00:26:18] And what a crummy situation when you can't just call the police or like have somebody

[00:26:24] else take care of it for you.

[00:26:26] This is your it's going to be on your shoulders.

[00:26:28] Well, I get back to Helene.

[00:26:31] I mean, you just can't.

[00:26:33] You have to think about how you're going to deal with it when it's just your household

[00:26:37] dealing with it.

[00:26:38] Mm hmm.

[00:26:39] You know, because you can't always say that whoever the government or the institution,

[00:26:46] whatever it is, is going to come to your aid.

[00:26:49] You might be the one that has to do it.

[00:26:53] Yeah.

[00:26:53] And I've heard from so many people that like, oh, just come on to my property.

[00:26:58] I'm going to just shoot you.

[00:26:59] Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

[00:27:01] Really?

[00:27:02] And then what?

[00:27:03] Yeah.

[00:27:04] And then what?

[00:27:05] Yeah.

[00:27:06] Well, you're going to have bodies piled up all along the perimeter or what?

[00:27:09] You know, get a bunch of spikes around.

[00:27:13] Yeah.

[00:27:13] Yeah.

[00:27:14] Like in day after does that.

[00:27:15] Right.

[00:27:16] I mean, so I guess some people would, you know, they're they're out there for sure.

[00:27:21] There's for sure.

[00:27:23] I've talked to way too many people on this topic and I know that some people just think

[00:27:28] differently than you could even ever imagine like thinking.

[00:27:34] Which is where I got a lot of the content content for Mr. Swenson.

[00:27:38] But, you know, cause they're there.

[00:27:43] So, you know, that's going to happen.

[00:27:44] But what about like the kid that comes up?

[00:27:48] What?

[00:27:49] You know, what about that kind of situation?

[00:27:51] And then that could be a front.

[00:27:52] You just don't know.

[00:27:53] Yeah.

[00:27:53] I mean, right.

[00:27:54] So you always have to be ready.

[00:27:58] We go back into Burgess's story and Dolores is concerned about food resupply.

[00:28:05] Cause she's getting kind of wiped out by all the traffic through there.

[00:28:09] And so obviously that's going to be a concern.

[00:28:12] I don't have an answer to that.

[00:28:14] I would.

[00:28:16] My thought was always like, okay, we'd have to go massive amounts of greenhouses and stuff.

[00:28:22] Mm hmm.

[00:28:23] But.

[00:28:25] You have power requirements there, which you could work out even with human labor.

[00:28:30] I mean, if I got to sit on a bike for eight hours to make sure I have dinner that night.

[00:28:34] Well, then so be it.

[00:28:36] Right.

[00:28:37] Right.

[00:28:37] Yeah.

[00:28:39] So, I mean, I'm not even talking like a forest layer type situation or anything.

[00:28:43] I mean, human beings could think their way around this.

[00:28:45] If we had like a Yellowstone or super volcano eruption that put us in the dark.

[00:28:50] Um, and we really had to think through like how are we going to make that food.

[00:28:54] But look what happened in Spain with all their warehouses.

[00:28:59] Like you just have one serious disaster come through like that storm that hit down in Valencia.

[00:29:08] And that, you know, you've got how many warehouses that just got creamed and all that work to do.

[00:29:15] And you most of the time, like if they don't really produce.

[00:29:20] Yeah.

[00:29:20] Global food prices are going to go up.

[00:29:24] But somebody else is probably going to be able to pick up the slack at this point.

[00:29:28] We've been having a lot of pressure, but still, okay, in the world we live in right now, we're going to be able to pick up that slack and make sure those people still get fed despite maybe that greenhouse didn't produce for a season.

[00:29:39] But in a future situation like that, I mean, can you really afford to lose that massive amount of greenhouse in one storm?

[00:29:48] And hail is a factor that was like kind of rando.

[00:29:53] I didn't really think about that enough when I was putting together my book series.

[00:29:57] And how much square foot do you need of a greenhouse per person to how, you know, how big is your.

[00:30:05] Yeah.

[00:30:06] How big is your community that you work with?

[00:30:08] I mean, okay, so I'll bring this up now rather than in changing earth news because I was going to bring it up in changing earth news.

[00:30:16] But because of the drought and oh my gosh, I got to find it.

[00:30:21] That's one of the African countries.

[00:30:25] I think it's Zimbabwe.

[00:30:27] I'm going to say Zimbabwe for now.

[00:30:30] And if I'm wrong, I'll collect myself, correct myself later.

[00:30:33] They are turning to farming maggots.

[00:30:38] Yeah.

[00:30:39] I mean, it's a little bit of a sauce to supplement the food supply.

[00:30:41] Well, Texas beat hot sauce on there.

[00:30:44] Yeah.

[00:30:44] Yeah.

[00:30:45] Yeah.

[00:30:46] So I know we have all this like the bug slingers these days are like, oh, everybody should eat bugs while we eat steaks.

[00:30:53] But like, I guess that is an option.

[00:30:56] My neighbor farms maggots too, but they get fed to the chickens.

[00:30:59] So.

[00:31:00] Right.

[00:31:00] Yeah.

[00:31:01] That's what I would like do meal ones.

[00:31:03] Yeah.

[00:31:04] Yeah.

[00:31:05] Feed them to the chickens.

[00:31:06] Yeah.

[00:31:06] Yeah.

[00:31:07] And then eat the chickens.

[00:31:09] Yeah.

[00:31:10] But, you know, I, and it's quite possible.

[00:31:13] They were out there at the chicken farms.

[00:31:15] So it's quite possible they're being fed to the chickens in that situation as well.

[00:31:20] Mm hmm.

[00:31:21] I just know that like our food range here in the United States is kind of limited, even though we have a huge access, we don't eat some of the animals that some of the rest of the world eats.

[00:31:32] So.

[00:31:33] Or all the parts of the animals that the rest of the world eats.

[00:31:36] Yeah.

[00:31:37] Yeah.

[00:31:37] Because we're spoiled.

[00:31:39] So.

[00:31:40] Yeah.

[00:31:40] Yep.

[00:31:42] Okay.

[00:31:43] And then it's one of my favorite scenes, actually, when Erica is walking with Daniel and she's talking about the realities of having to take somebody's life.

[00:31:53] Mm hmm.

[00:31:55] And, you know, if it's a necessity, you just can't hesitate at all.

[00:31:58] That's just a choice.

[00:31:59] You're going to if you decide to point that gun, you better be ready to shoot that gun.

[00:32:04] Mm hmm.

[00:32:05] And that's something that my mom actually taught me.

[00:32:09] Pretty hardcore family, I know.

[00:32:12] But like.

[00:32:13] Yeah.

[00:32:14] Don't just and dish.

[00:32:15] Don't just point.

[00:32:16] Yeah.

[00:32:17] Yeah.

[00:32:18] Because a lot of people are going to assume that you're not going to pull the trigger.

[00:32:23] And.

[00:32:23] It could get you killed, yeah.

[00:32:25] Yeah.

[00:32:26] Yeah.

[00:32:27] Mm hmm.

[00:32:28] So that that would be a really difficult conversation to have with a 13 year old.

[00:32:35] Mm hmm.

[00:32:36] Mm hmm.

[00:32:36] But that's the reality of the situation.

[00:32:38] And when I'm training self defense, that's definitely what I'm trying to instill upon them is that you're fighting for your life.

[00:32:47] So, yeah, you might be a little intimidated in this situation and it might be a little bit scary.

[00:32:53] But imagine when it's somebody you don't know and your life is over if you go with them.

[00:33:00] So you have to learn every step to be able to get out of that and return home safely.

[00:33:07] So, yeah, that one.

[00:33:09] I do like that little scene, though, with Erica and Daniel.

[00:33:12] It's very touching.

[00:33:15] The wild forageables.

[00:33:17] Wild forageables are everywhere, guys.

[00:33:21] Yeah.

[00:33:21] But you have to know what they look like and you have to know what is not a wild forageable.

[00:33:27] So in my example in the book, I did the onions with the death camas.

[00:33:33] And the reason I did that one is because wild onions are everywhere.

[00:33:37] Like literally, I was in Mississippi.

[00:33:40] I'm just on the side of the road.

[00:33:42] And here's wild onions just growing right there.

[00:33:45] I'm like, there you go.

[00:33:47] But death camas also likes to grow with them.

[00:33:50] It looks just like them.

[00:33:53] So.

[00:33:53] Really?

[00:33:53] Oh, I didn't know that.

[00:33:54] Yeah.

[00:33:55] Death camas, it looks just like a wild onion.

[00:33:58] So if it does not smell like an onion, do not eat it.

[00:34:02] It needs to smell like an onion.

[00:34:04] If you're like, I don't know, this doesn't really smell like an onion.

[00:34:07] Don't eat it.

[00:34:09] And there's lots of things that are like that, that are good and that aren't.

[00:34:15] A book is a great start.

[00:34:18] But I have found personally that a book pales in comparison to learning from somebody who has the knowledge.

[00:34:29] Like it's really important to learn from somebody who has the knowledge.

[00:34:34] And a book like there's four seasons, right?

[00:34:38] Yeah, I think plants look different.

[00:34:40] That's.

[00:34:40] Sometimes books don't show it in all the.

[00:34:44] All the different varieties.

[00:34:45] Or like this one has better sunlight and grows a little bit better.

[00:34:50] This one, not so much.

[00:34:51] So it doesn't really match it exactly.

[00:34:54] That's why I say.

[00:34:56] And they have apps now too.

[00:34:57] But I, I, I, I don't, I'm not personally gonna really trust an app.

[00:35:02] I don't know.

[00:35:03] And like some of those apps are, I think, uh, internet.

[00:35:08] Yeah.

[00:35:09] Fair.

[00:35:10] Like the ones where you take a picture.

[00:35:12] Yep.

[00:35:12] You know, that's going through the sales service to, to get you your answer.

[00:35:16] It's not, you don't have that database on your phone.

[00:35:19] Right.

[00:35:21] So that's not going to be there.

[00:35:23] Grid down.

[00:35:24] All the time.

[00:35:25] It probably won't be there when you really need it.

[00:35:27] Cause you're going to be out in the woods or it's going to be a grid down.

[00:35:30] Right.

[00:35:31] One of the two scenarios and neither are good, good, um, situations to have to depend on

[00:35:37] cell service.

[00:35:38] Cell service.

[00:35:40] Um, the, the two that I've found that I liked the best are the Audubon puts out a book

[00:35:46] of like for regional areas.

[00:35:48] I love those.

[00:35:50] And, um, like if you can get ahold of native American resources from your area, there's been

[00:35:56] natives that probably have written books about what's in your area that is traditional

[00:36:02] to their people.

[00:36:04] Other than that, I will link through to a lot of the, I tried to focus on things that you

[00:36:11] can find across the United States.

[00:36:14] Sorry.

[00:36:15] Can't do the world for my world, my global listeners, but, um, things that you can find

[00:36:20] across the United States as far as like acorns and cattails and, um, uh, curly dock, things

[00:36:28] like that, that you can find in any state just because I thought that would be the most useful

[00:36:33] for everyone.

[00:36:37] And that's a good place to start anyway, because what if you have to move geographical location

[00:36:43] and then now you don't know anything, trust me.

[00:36:47] One, like I knew the area really, really, really well.

[00:36:50] I was in, and then you move and now you got to start all over again.

[00:36:55] So if you have the basics of, you know, some good, useful stuff, it's, it's really, really

[00:37:00] there.

[00:37:02] Okay.

[00:37:03] Wild protein is available.

[00:37:05] You just need to know how to properly skin it and gut it.

[00:37:09] So the meat's not compromised, even a squirrel, you can't just go to town.

[00:37:15] You've got to do things properly.

[00:37:17] And how to get it from the field to where you're skinning and gutting.

[00:37:24] In the right.

[00:37:25] Yes.

[00:37:26] They don't just like walk up to you and roll over.

[00:37:29] Some do.

[00:37:31] In Sacramento, in Sacramento at Sac State, their squirrels were readily available.

[00:37:37] Oh, really?

[00:37:38] Yeah.

[00:37:39] They'll, they'll almost attack you.

[00:37:40] Like I was eating my sandwich in my car and it's like looking in my window from the

[00:37:44] top of my vehicle.

[00:37:45] Yeah.

[00:37:46] They're pretty brazen.

[00:37:48] But no, you're absolutely right.

[00:37:50] Um, you know, you got to have your trapping skills.

[00:37:52] That's why I love my 22s.

[00:37:55] I'm not planning on being in gunfights.

[00:37:57] I don't want to be in gunfights.

[00:37:59] I don't want to be in a fight at all.

[00:38:00] Okay.

[00:38:00] That's the plan.

[00:38:02] And if I have to defend myself, I will.

[00:38:05] But the plan is to not be in there.

[00:38:06] So 22 is great for small game.

[00:38:10] It's quiet.

[00:38:10] You can take a deer out with a 22.

[00:38:13] You just need to be a good shot.

[00:38:14] And if you miss, you miss.

[00:38:16] And if you hit, then you're having dinner.

[00:38:20] So that's why I'm a, it's quiet.

[00:38:22] You know, that's why I'm all behind my 22s still, no matter what.

[00:38:29] All right.

[00:38:30] So we're moving on.

[00:38:31] Virgis is hunting them.

[00:38:32] He's hunting them with thermal detectors.

[00:38:37] Big problem.

[00:38:38] Nice.

[00:38:39] Yeah.

[00:38:39] Thermal and night vision is going to give your team the edge.

[00:38:44] Mm-hmm.

[00:38:44] The big problem I have with them is they require power of some type.

[00:38:50] Power.

[00:38:50] Oh, yeah.

[00:38:51] Batteries.

[00:38:52] You've got to recharge those things.

[00:38:53] They're not like, they don't work without power.

[00:38:56] So.

[00:38:58] Good to have an edge.

[00:39:00] I'm not going to lie.

[00:39:01] Love a pair of night vision.

[00:39:03] Like a man.

[00:39:05] It ain't cheap.

[00:39:06] It's not.

[00:39:07] It's like three grand, like for the minimum good stuff.

[00:39:10] For good stuff.

[00:39:11] Yeah.

[00:39:11] Good stuff.

[00:39:12] If I was going to like, it would be nice for boar hunting to be able to have night vision.

[00:39:18] So that's been my thought.

[00:39:20] Like I really want to go take some boar down.

[00:39:23] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:23] And I know it's best to do it at night with the night vision.

[00:39:27] So.

[00:39:27] We're having a conversation.

[00:39:29] So there's a game club that I belong to up here.

[00:39:34] And they were talking about, anybody want to go to like a safari?

[00:39:37] Like, I don't want to go to a safari.

[00:39:39] But I would do one of those helicopter.

[00:39:41] Oh, yeah.

[00:39:43] Yeah.

[00:39:44] Yeah.

[00:39:44] With the 50 cal.

[00:39:45] Oh, man.

[00:39:46] I've been trying to get my dad to do it for days.

[00:39:48] I'm like, what better father daughter trip is there than shooting a 50 cal.

[00:39:53] Talk about adrenaline.

[00:39:55] Yeah.

[00:39:55] Yeah.

[00:39:56] He was like, oh, let's go fishing.

[00:39:58] I'm like, oh, come on.

[00:40:01] That's so lame.

[00:40:02] Blame.

[00:40:03] Well, I mean, it's not.

[00:40:04] I don't know if it's a dog that's wrong.

[00:40:05] But like 50 cal.

[00:40:08] There's a big difference.

[00:40:09] Helicopter.

[00:40:10] A, flying at helicopter.

[00:40:12] B, shooting hog.

[00:40:13] And oh, my goodness.

[00:40:16] Yeah.

[00:40:18] So there are ways you can get around thermal and night vision.

[00:40:23] It's pretty trick.

[00:40:26] But there are ways to do it.

[00:40:28] So I do have an article on the thermal that I'll link through.

[00:40:34] All right.

[00:40:34] Then the kids are out.

[00:40:36] The kids decide that they're going to set up these Tasmanian devil traps is what they're

[00:40:40] actually called.

[00:40:42] And I learned how to do this.

[00:40:44] One of my survival instructors taught me how to do this.

[00:40:48] And they're mean, man.

[00:40:50] They are wicked.

[00:40:52] And you can set up spikes on them.

[00:40:54] And they're easy to do.

[00:40:56] It's basically just twisting ropes around itself and then giving it a trigger mechanism,

[00:41:02] you know, giving it some kind of a swing action and then giving it a trigger mechanism.

[00:41:06] So they're they're really, really easy to set up.

[00:41:10] But.

[00:41:12] You know, once you set up a trap, you've pretty much put up a neon sign that you're in the area.

[00:41:18] Yeah.

[00:41:19] It's not just going to magically like.

[00:41:21] And the trap doesn't have a.

[00:41:26] Detector for like making sure it's a bad guy.

[00:41:29] Yeah.

[00:41:30] Yeah.

[00:41:30] Yeah.

[00:41:32] Yeah.

[00:41:33] That you could like get some friendly fire with it.

[00:41:36] Mm hmm.

[00:41:36] Yeah.

[00:41:36] Yeah.

[00:41:38] But they do talk a lot in here about slug trails, which is really important.

[00:41:44] I mean, just when you're entering the woods itself, you want to leave minimal impact unless

[00:41:50] it's like your place and you're looking to make a trail.

[00:41:52] You know, I'm always about minimal impact.

[00:41:55] So, um, so trails is going to be like you're just walking through hacking with a machete.

[00:42:01] Mm hmm.

[00:42:01] You're going to leave a trail.

[00:42:03] Mm hmm.

[00:42:03] Even just walking through the branches breaking off and things like that.

[00:42:08] Um, sometimes you can't help it, but your scuff marks on the ground.

[00:42:13] Mm hmm.

[00:42:13] And the trampled ground.

[00:42:15] This is what trackers are looking for to be able to follow you anywhere is your slug trail.

[00:42:20] So the more that you can practice kind of minimal impediment on the forest when you go into it, the better it would be if you ever had to outrun somebody for something.

[00:42:34] So hopefully that is never a necessity in your life.

[00:42:39] Mm hmm.

[00:42:40] But, you know, it is a it is a method.

[00:42:44] And, um, all right, the radiation sickness.

[00:42:48] So in writing, uh, changing earth and day after disaster, I mean, I started day after disaster and long time ago.

[00:43:00] I don't know, like 2000 ish, uh, 2002 ish.

[00:43:06] And the belief in my head was always that like they had iodine tablets because it will like protect you from radiation.

[00:43:16] And or like you could paint yourself in iodine.

[00:43:20] I've heard that before somewhere that you can like literally paint yourself in iodine and that it would protect you from radiation or whatnot.

[00:43:29] So since that day, I have met Mr. Dave Jones and learned that most of that is just BS that, um, is not true.

[00:43:45] Mm hmm.

[00:43:46] So the iodine tablets will prevent thyroid cancer that you would contract.

[00:43:55] It like packs your thyroids, right?

[00:43:58] And it blocks.

[00:44:00] Yes.

[00:44:01] Right.

[00:44:02] The radiation from coming in.

[00:44:04] Right.

[00:44:06] But like for you and me, that would happen.

[00:44:08] Like if we got exposed today, that would happen 40 years from now.

[00:44:12] Mm hmm.

[00:44:12] And 40 years from now, you know, I don't know how much longer I'd be on the planet anyway.

[00:44:17] Right.

[00:44:19] I mean, I'm just saying I'm just saying I don't want to live be 120.

[00:44:24] I mean, yeah.

[00:44:26] Okay.

[00:44:26] Maybe I'm going to get it 20 years beyond that.

[00:44:28] But come on.

[00:44:30] But for like my kids, that'd be a big deal.

[00:44:35] Uh huh.

[00:44:36] I don't want them getting right.

[00:44:38] You know, if we were exposed to radiation, I'd want them to have it so that they weren't getting thyroid cancer at 40 and cutting their life short, you know, or at 30 kind of thing.

[00:44:51] So that's where it's really important.

[00:44:53] And it's really important to learn, you know, what's kind of BS and what's not.

[00:44:58] Mm hmm.

[00:44:59] Smaller people will get affected more.

[00:45:02] But if you want to know the ins and outs, really, you should just go take Dave's class.

[00:45:07] It's like I was always kind of opposed to like learning about nuclear and all this stuff.

[00:45:14] I was like, I just want to be out of here if we're facing that threat, you know.

[00:45:19] But Dave like really puts it in perspective on the realities of this situation.

[00:45:27] Dave Jones, the NBC guy, you can look for it there.

[00:45:30] And I'll link through to Dave's class, of course.

[00:45:33] But it's definitely worth your time.

[00:45:35] It's worth your money because he gives you really clear instructions on things you can use that you have in your house right now.

[00:45:44] So I'm definitely at Dave's not, you know, paying me to speak for him.

[00:45:49] I'm speaking for him because that's where I learned.

[00:45:51] And and it was easy to learn.

[00:45:54] It wasn't threatening.

[00:45:56] And now I have tools in a better state of mind.

[00:46:01] OK, then.

[00:46:02] So they're getting chased by these feds.

[00:46:06] And Clint's like, I can lead you to safety.

[00:46:09] Now, this is the guy who was just threatening the family.

[00:46:13] Mm hmm.

[00:46:13] Right.

[00:46:15] So are you going to be like, oh, yeah, that's a great idea.

[00:46:20] Yeah.

[00:46:22] We're just going to roll with you.

[00:46:24] He could be leading them back to like a whole group of people.

[00:46:28] Mm hmm.

[00:46:30] You just don't know.

[00:46:32] But do you really ever know what somebody is thinking?

[00:46:35] Mm hmm.

[00:46:36] No.

[00:46:38] So you're going to have to put it in God's hands at that point.

[00:46:42] But I do have lots of articles on who to trust, who not to trust.

[00:46:46] Ways to kind of tell that.

[00:46:48] I wish I could remember the video I've been watching.

[00:46:51] There's a guy who's a psychologist and he's been working within like military intelligence for days.

[00:46:58] And he has videos out on YouTube.

[00:47:00] I can't remember his name at all right now.

[00:47:02] Mm hmm.

[00:47:03] But unlike people's.

[00:47:07] Just their body language and where they're looking, how they're all of that.

[00:47:13] I'm like making sure people are telling you the truth or not, which is never for sure going to be a for sure thing because you have sociopaths and stuff out there.

[00:47:22] But.

[00:47:25] Or is it psychopaths?

[00:47:26] One of them is doesn't have the capability of.

[00:47:31] I think it's a social point.

[00:47:32] Playing nice in society.

[00:47:34] Oh, yeah.

[00:47:35] I have having compassion.

[00:47:37] They don't like see from other people's point of view.

[00:47:41] So they just don't care.

[00:47:42] They don't have the same emotional reference.

[00:47:43] It's just not built into their brain.

[00:47:46] Some people are conditioned to be that way.

[00:47:48] Like Swenson is conditioned to be that way.

[00:47:50] But Mr. Lee is more like just that way.

[00:47:54] He doesn't really have a compassion part.

[00:47:59] All righty.

[00:48:00] Um, women's self defense.

[00:48:02] Like I say, really key.

[00:48:04] We go into the scene with Margaret where Margaret's just like kicking the heck out of this guy.

[00:48:10] And yes, you know, because she's like, no, you're never touching me without my permission.

[00:48:17] And like I said before, you teach them young.

[00:48:19] They're going to understand there's danger.

[00:48:21] They're going to have the power to stop that danger.

[00:48:24] All right, then we're back with the Moore family.

[00:48:26] And Daniel wants to go get a toy.

[00:48:29] And I was like, oh, well, you are on the run.

[00:48:33] You have no time for this.

[00:48:35] Yet they take the moment to get the toy and the Uno cards.

[00:48:39] Which are.

[00:48:40] Gotta have Uno cards.

[00:48:41] Gotta have Uno cards.

[00:48:43] I mean, it's got it.

[00:48:44] So that's why, you know, entertainment items are essential.

[00:48:50] They have an essential spot in your go bag.

[00:48:53] I know there's some hardcore people, Rick, that would say like they have no place in there, like no cards or anything.

[00:49:02] But man, you're going to need that time to just lighten the mood to just play a game to just get your brain off of the maximum amount of stress that you are just undergoing.

[00:49:15] And who's the gentleman that we talked to from Venezuela?

[00:49:22] He really put that in perspective for me.

[00:49:26] For for for for.

[00:49:28] Yeah.

[00:49:29] We were just talking about him.

[00:49:30] I know.

[00:49:32] Not Selko.

[00:49:34] Oh, no.

[00:49:35] Yeah.

[00:49:35] No, I was thinking real.

[00:49:37] Um, the other gentleman that we that was on the show.

[00:49:41] And he's now.

[00:49:42] Oh, he just popped up on my YouTube, too.

[00:49:45] Yeah.

[00:49:46] He he really put it in perspective as far as like mowing the lawn and how like he would mow the lawn strapped.

[00:49:53] And then the neighbor who didn't have a man around would like come out and mow at the same time as him.

[00:50:00] Because then at least she kind of had somebody there.

[00:50:03] I mean, that is a maximum stress load.

[00:50:06] If you are like sitting there waiting for your neighbor to mow the lawn because you.

[00:50:12] Yeah.

[00:50:14] That's crazy.

[00:50:15] So that was like reality check little, you know, American.

[00:50:21] Grown up in your little safe society doesn't think that anything exists out there.

[00:50:25] You know.

[00:50:27] That that was crazy.

[00:50:30] And on that topic, too, just how blessed we are.

[00:50:34] You know, they're talking about the grocery store and how there's everything in there that you could eat.

[00:50:38] And it's so great.

[00:50:40] We had ice cream and cookies and candies and da da da da da da.

[00:50:44] How blessed we are.

[00:50:46] Like, guys, you got to take a minute and just thank the Lord for all the blessings we have in this country.

[00:50:52] I don't think we do enough of that.

[00:50:54] And we just take it straight for granted.

[00:50:55] And we have access to food items.

[00:50:59] It's like each one of us is like, you know, a Roman elitist.

[00:51:04] Because everybody has that same privilege to have access to those options.

[00:51:10] They're getting a lot more expensive.

[00:51:15] But comparatively to a lot of other countries, like we are so spoiled.

[00:51:21] So you've got to take a moment to thank the Lord for our blessings.

[00:51:25] All right.

[00:51:26] Then they're going in the tunnel system.

[00:51:29] The tunnel system.

[00:51:32] I'm still not sold on.

[00:51:34] And I have a great article, a great interview that I did actually way back in the beginning with Ron White on survival shelters.

[00:51:45] But I'm still not sold.

[00:51:49] I'm sorry, not Ron White with Raymond Dean White.

[00:51:52] I was thinking of the comedian.

[00:51:54] Yeah, he was on my show.

[00:51:55] You know.

[00:51:57] I'm still not sold that bunkers are not just tombs.

[00:52:02] And it would take a lot of convincing to convince me otherwise because I just don't know that I would want to be in a bunker under the ground.

[00:52:17] That's just crazy.

[00:52:20] Oh, did I lose your chin?

[00:52:22] Nope.

[00:52:23] Up there.

[00:52:23] I was just looking up Fernando.

[00:52:25] Oh, yeah.

[00:52:26] Thank you.

[00:52:27] Thank you.

[00:52:27] You're absolutely right.

[00:52:28] Fernando.

[00:52:30] Fernando.

[00:52:31] Yep.

[00:52:32] Yeah.

[00:52:32] He was a really cool guy to talk to.

[00:52:34] Thank you.

[00:52:34] He was.

[00:52:35] And he was he was so funny because way, way, way back in the beginning of this whole thing.

[00:52:41] I just like what was watching this video and I like made a comment and then we got like one or two emails and also my phone rings and he was calling me.

[00:52:52] Right.

[00:52:53] I love it.

[00:52:53] It was pretty cool.

[00:52:54] Yeah.

[00:52:55] He's like, I'm just going to reach out.

[00:52:57] Yeah.

[00:52:58] Yeah.

[00:52:58] That's what he did.

[00:52:59] That's cool.

[00:53:00] That's crazy.

[00:53:01] That's really cool.

[00:53:03] Maybe we don't do enough of that these days.

[00:53:05] It's always texting and whatnot.

[00:53:08] Mm hmm.

[00:53:09] But yeah, what do you think?

[00:53:10] Shelter or tomb?

[00:53:11] You going down in there if you like somebody came to you and was like, hey, I have the most tricked out bunker.

[00:53:17] It is not going to fail.

[00:53:18] I don't know because.

[00:53:19] Yeah, it's like which which what's plan B once you're down there?

[00:53:24] Right.

[00:53:24] Do you.

[00:53:25] Do you.

[00:53:26] Is it one way in one way out or do you have like a good.

[00:53:29] I didn't exit someplace else.

[00:53:31] Or how does.

[00:53:32] Yeah.

[00:53:32] How does that work?

[00:53:33] And I know they have like air reserve systems on some.

[00:53:38] Yeah.

[00:53:39] Like some are being fed from the top.

[00:53:43] So if they attack your air supply.

[00:53:46] Forget about it.

[00:53:48] Yeah.

[00:53:48] You know.

[00:53:49] Yeah.

[00:53:50] I'm not sold.

[00:53:52] I'd have to take a lot more convincing to get sold on.

[00:53:55] Yeah, Sarah, let's go into this bunker.

[00:53:57] It's going to be good.

[00:53:59] I think I'm going to not do that.

[00:54:02] I'm good.

[00:54:04] I know.

[00:54:05] I might just die on the top, but that's cool.

[00:54:10] OK.

[00:54:10] And then Virgis's team runs into Ryan's team.

[00:54:16] So when you have two armed groups meeting in a conflict, you know.

[00:54:25] And they're kind of working together, kind of not.

[00:54:29] So I should have like a military.

[00:54:32] Somebody has been.

[00:54:35] You know, in action to be able to come and like what happens in those types of situations?

[00:54:40] How do you navigate that water?

[00:54:43] You know, hopefully you have.

[00:54:48] People that know how to speak well.

[00:54:50] Right.

[00:54:51] Or like superior.

[00:54:53] Yeah.

[00:54:55] Yeah.

[00:54:56] Like the shot heard around the world.

[00:55:01] Yeah.

[00:55:02] Once that first shot goes down, then it's over.

[00:55:05] So that I'm sure there's all kinds of cool outcomes.

[00:55:08] We can probably write 80 books just based off that.

[00:55:12] Choose your own adventure.

[00:55:15] All right.

[00:55:16] Covering your track.

[00:55:17] So back into the, you know, the slug trails.

[00:55:21] Some of the ways that I was taught to be able to cover your tracks in a situation like that is making multiple tracks.

[00:55:30] Really confuses the heck out of them.

[00:55:33] Um, different directions and all that if you have time.

[00:55:36] Hopping back and forth over fences.

[00:55:39] Because if they have dogs tracking you, every time you hop over a fence that handler has to lift the dog.

[00:55:45] Yeah.

[00:55:46] Yeah.

[00:55:46] And that's just pain in the ass.

[00:55:48] So, and then a change of shoes.

[00:55:51] Dexter had different shoes that he could change into.

[00:55:55] Because they're going to be looking for the same symbol on the bottom of your foot.

[00:56:00] One of the things that's actually suggested if you're a hiker, an avid hiker, before you go hiking, you leave your shoe print.

[00:56:08] For people, if you got lost, for them to be able to know what was the pattern of your shoe.

[00:56:14] Right?

[00:56:16] So, they're going to be following you based on your shoe print pattern.

[00:56:20] So, if you can change your shoes into a different pattern, you can really throw them off at least for a little bit.

[00:56:28] Water.

[00:56:29] Always good.

[00:56:30] You know, to be able to hit a water resource and then they don't know where you came out along the way.

[00:56:36] That kind of thing.

[00:56:38] Any suggestions?

[00:56:38] I'd love to hear them because I'm very much into that kind of thing.

[00:56:43] I just am.

[00:56:44] It's pretty cool.

[00:56:45] And that, you know, I do like to hike a lot.

[00:56:48] So, it was important for me to be able to realize, like, if you want people to be able to find you, then you don't want to be leaving no line in the woods when you're walking through.

[00:56:59] Right?

[00:57:00] You want to clearly mark a path as you're going.

[00:57:06] Alrighty.

[00:57:06] And then, so they pop out in a wine cellar.

[00:57:12] You got to grab a couple bottles on the way out of the sand.

[00:57:15] You got to do what you got to do.

[00:57:16] You got to do what you got to do.

[00:57:17] It's a good situation.

[00:57:19] You got to have some alcohol.

[00:57:21] Not too much alcohol, though.

[00:57:22] Oh my gosh.

[00:57:23] Never a good idea when you have to be, like, doing something serious.

[00:57:27] I played airsoft one time after a little too much alcohol.

[00:57:31] How'd that work out?

[00:57:32] It was a horrible idea.

[00:57:34] A lot of welts?

[00:57:34] Did you have a lot of welts?

[00:57:35] Oh man!

[00:57:36] It was the worst idea ever.

[00:57:38] I'm usually so patient.

[00:57:39] And I had a hard week at martial arts.

[00:57:42] My legs were toast.

[00:57:44] You had some liquid courage going on there?

[00:57:46] Yeah.

[00:57:46] Yeah, I got shot a lot.

[00:57:50] So, wouldn't suggest that.

[00:57:53] Um, coastline after any kind of catastrophic event that happens on the coast is going to be a mess.

[00:58:00] Coastlines store stuff.

[00:58:03] And a lot of people live there.

[00:58:05] So, uh, we talk about it with flooding and whatnot, but any kind of, I wouldn't be on a coastline with any kind of disaster I hit, let alone like being able to eat from it.

[00:58:18] No way.

[00:58:20] Um, radiation, chemicals, everything is stored there.

[00:58:24] It's all going to be slurried up.

[00:58:26] Gasoline from boats and cars.

[00:58:29] And I would not suggest eating anything from that area.

[00:58:34] Mm-hmm.

[00:58:36] For a while.

[00:58:36] They're even saying that about like the Gulf shrimp because of the, uh, deep horizon oil that happened.

[00:58:43] Mm-hmm.

[00:58:44] Yeah.

[00:58:44] Well, they get rid of the oil spill, right?

[00:58:47] Oh, they just magically get rid of the oil.

[00:58:49] Well, how do they do that?

[00:58:49] They put a chemical on it that just sinks it to the bottom.

[00:58:53] Well, where do the shrimp feed?

[00:58:55] They feed at the bottom.

[00:58:56] So now you have all these shrimp eating basically petrol that went to the ground and then you're ingesting the shrimp, which could be contaminated with gasoline.

[00:59:08] So, yeah.

[00:59:11] Good times.

[00:59:12] We do some great things for our planet.

[00:59:14] You know?

[00:59:16] All righty.

[00:59:17] Well, we're going to do changing earth news.

[00:59:19] I've got to rock and roll.

[00:59:20] Wow.

[00:59:20] We're already an hour in.

[00:59:22] So let me play that.

[00:59:23] You don't want to give three pages of notes to get ready for today.

[00:59:26] There was so much good stuff in this episode.

[00:59:29] That's why we had to go back.

[00:59:31] I was like, oh, my God.

[00:59:32] We gotta go back.

[00:59:32] Oh, my goodness.

[00:59:33] I saw that come through.

[00:59:34] I was like, holy, is this for the season or just today?

[00:59:37] No, that is just today.

[00:59:39] We, that's why we had to go in super speed over the mall.

[00:59:42] If you guys want more info, head on over to the blog and I'll link through all kinds of stuff you can learn about.

[00:59:47] So, okay.

[00:59:48] Let's get into the changing earth news.

[00:59:55] Dream.

[00:59:56] Survive.

[00:59:58] Thrive.

[01:00:00] This is changing earth news.

[01:00:05] All right.

[01:00:06] Changing earth news.

[01:00:07] This is December 1st, 2024, and we're going to be in rapid motion today.

[01:00:11] Luckily, the earth was actually pretty calm.

[01:00:15] Now, the people in northeastern part of the United States are going to be like, what?

[01:00:19] And the people over in India, they just had a cyclone come through.

[01:00:22] They're going to be like, what?

[01:00:23] But those were really our big events this week.

[01:00:27] Solar is calm.

[01:00:28] We're watching a few active spots for CME activity right now.

[01:00:32] They're popping a little bit, making a little noise, but nothing major.

[01:00:37] It's just eyes on.

[01:00:38] And over the past week, it was mostly quiet as well.

[01:00:41] We only had one little pop in geomagnetic storm.

[01:00:44] And the last big event that happened from the earth, the earth actually shielded it pretty well, which was impressive.

[01:00:52] So we're doing pretty good.

[01:00:55] On the 25th of November, we had 387 earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger, the biggest of which was a 5.2 earthquake in Chichijima Island, Japan.

[01:01:06] Storm Burt was still impacting the UK with flooding.

[01:01:09] They had to see a lot of flooding from that event.

[01:01:11] Also, a lot of wind from that event.

[01:01:13] Heavy rain damage and wind damage the tents in Gaza.

[01:01:19] They took a lot of hits there from that big wind and storm event.

[01:01:23] And the northwestern United States was being impacted by that bomb cyclone.

[01:01:29] Washington saw a lot of wind damage from that storm as it came through.

[01:01:34] November 26th of 2024, there was 446 earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger, biggest of which was a 6.1 in the Japan Sea.

[01:01:43] You know, Japan's built for earthquakes.

[01:01:46] That's what they are used to.

[01:01:48] So, um, nobody reported dead that I saw from that incident.

[01:01:53] Not too much damage with that 6.1, which is pretty serious.

[01:01:57] Didn't see a big tsunami came off of it or anything like that.

[01:02:00] There was a big earthquake storm in the southern San Andreas Fault.

[01:02:05] So we still have eyes on in California.

[01:02:07] Like I say, I have no explanation for why the ring of fire around the Pacific is so actively lit up.

[01:02:14] And California and the west coast of the United States seems to be locked in, not really doing a whole bunch.

[01:02:20] So, um, it's either locked in anticipating a big event or those little events that we're having the swarming.

[01:02:28] These little outlets are allowing that energy to disperse without a major event.

[01:02:32] So hopefully it's the latter.

[01:02:35] November 27th of 2024, there was 382 earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger.

[01:02:40] Biggest of which was a 5.7 in Gisborne, New Zealand.

[01:02:44] Tornadoes struck in South Africa, Ron Fontaine, and a snowstorm hit the Colorado mountains.

[01:02:52] November 28th of 2024, there was 365 earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger.

[01:02:57] Biggest of which was a 5.1 in Badakistan, Afghanistan.

[01:03:01] There was a 5.7 earthquake in Tarlock, Philippines.

[01:03:05] They do have eyes on the Philippine trench right now.

[01:03:09] It's been really, really noisy.

[01:03:10] They're thinking there might be a bigger earthquake coming.

[01:03:13] So if you are in the Philippines, of course, you guys have to be into disaster preparedness by this point,

[01:03:18] because it's been a wild ride for you this year.

[01:03:21] But I would definitely stay ready for an event like that.

[01:03:25] And South Korea, at least four people, unfortunately, lost their lives in the heaviest snowfall in the world.

[01:03:31] The heaviest snowfall on record in November, heaviest snowfall in 100 years for South Korea.

[01:03:38] So we're seeing another record breaking, another, you know, 100-year event, 1,000-year event.

[01:03:45] These just keep coming at us.

[01:03:47] And as we turn into winter in the Northern Hemisphere,

[01:03:50] we're going to see these flooding, these rain events turn into these massive snow events.

[01:03:54] So that's what we saw in South Korea.

[01:03:56] In Sri Lanka, four children, unfortunately, lost their lives.

[01:04:01] Heavy rains came down that triggered massive flooding there.

[01:04:05] On November 29th, 2024, there was 376 earthquakes or 2.0 or bigger, biggest of which was a 4.8 in the Eastern Mediterranean.

[01:04:17] That's really all I have for that day.

[01:04:19] The drought in Africa was up on topic, so they were talking about the maggot farming.

[01:04:24] But that's really all that was going on that day, just farming some maggots.

[01:04:29] November 30th of 2024, I'm sure there was more going on, but just not a big hit day.

[01:04:34] November 30th, 2024, there was 371 earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger, biggest of which was a 5.7 in the East China Sea near Japan.

[01:04:44] There was a 4.0 earthquake that happened under Mauna Loa volcano.

[01:04:50] Cyclone Fungal caused heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, India.

[01:04:55] In India, three people, unfortunately, died of electrocution.

[01:04:58] They have a really interesting electrical system in India.

[01:05:02] If you've never seen pictures of it, you should check it out because it's wild.

[01:05:07] And electricity and flooding never mixes.

[01:05:10] That's why I'm always like, hey, heads up on the electrical if you have any kind of flooding going on.

[01:05:15] Sydney, Australia, they got their first storm of the summer.

[01:05:18] It absolutely smashed into Sydney with wind and flooding in the area.

[01:05:25] Big storm.

[01:05:26] They've just had it over and over and over again.

[01:05:28] So we have to keep eyes on what's going on with that.

[01:05:32] Major lake effect snowstorm hits Pennsylvania, New York, 30 inches of snow.

[01:05:38] 1,000 plus people stranded in New York.

[01:05:41] The Great Lakes were impacted.

[01:05:42] Ontario, Ohio.

[01:05:44] So big storm up in the Midwest.

[01:05:48] And Thailand and Malaysia.

[01:05:50] Thousands of people have tens of thousands of people have been displaced by massive flooding.

[01:05:56] Nine people have lost their lives in that event.

[01:05:59] And the same things going on over there.

[01:06:01] Just massive rain after massive rain.

[01:06:03] There's just nowhere for it to go yet.

[01:06:06] So 12-1, I don't really have a whole lot to report.

[01:06:09] The earthquake center hadn't even updated their website to include December 1st.

[01:06:16] So we will just bring you December 1st next week.

[01:06:18] As far as volcanoes go, we have 37 actively erupting volcanoes.

[01:06:23] We have 32 showing minor activity.

[01:06:26] We have 26 showing unrest.

[01:06:28] So we're still at 95.

[01:06:30] But that is finally down one volcano for this year.

[01:06:35] So we were kind of peaked out at 96 last week.

[01:06:40] But we have lost one down to 95 this week.

[01:06:43] As far as wildfires in the United States go, we're at a preparedness level of one.

[01:06:48] We have five new large fires.

[01:06:51] Four of them are contained for a total of 7,783 acres burning.

[01:06:55] Number one on the list was New York with one new fire.

[01:07:00] Um, one fire total.

[01:07:02] Total of 5,304 acres.

[01:07:05] I'm sure that snow is going to help put that fire out.

[01:07:09] And then second on the list was Massachusetts with two new fires.

[01:07:14] Four fires total.

[01:07:16] A total of 2,479 acres.

[01:07:19] And that storm is hitting them as well.

[01:07:22] So all we can do is pray that all those fires will be put out by that weather that's coming in.

[01:07:27] Everything happens for a reason, I guess.

[01:07:30] Alrighty guys.

[01:07:32] That's all I got for you today.

[01:07:33] Remember, you want to pick up the Change in Earth series.

[01:07:36] Great deal on them right now.

[01:07:38] Get them while they last.

[01:07:39] Uh, change in earth series.com.

[01:07:41] Got the merchandise over there.

[01:07:43] The audio drama is up.

[01:07:44] Members, you've got access to episode 12.

[01:07:47] Non-subscribers, you've got, um, access to show 11.

[01:07:52] And then it looks like we're going to be able to just flow through with what's going on there.

[01:07:57] So we're, uh, we're right on track for the holiday season.

[01:08:02] I hope you guys all had a very, very blessed Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a Merry Christmas.

[01:08:09] Um, I know these are heavy times typically.

[01:08:12] Um, even if we didn't have the United States in turmoil,

[01:08:15] sometimes it gets pretty stressful around the holidays.

[01:08:18] So just remember to keep Christ's light in your heart and, uh, keep your focus there and press forward each day with a, with a smile on your face.

[01:08:27] Alrighty guys.

[01:08:29] Thank you, Chin for joining.

[01:08:31] Of course, I'm happy that things are kind of getting back on track for you guys.

[01:08:35] Over there.

[01:08:37] Yeah.

[01:08:38] Yeah.

[01:08:39] A little bit.

[01:08:40] Yeah.

[01:08:41] So already until next time, remember dream.

[01:08:44] Survive.

[01:08:46] Thrive.
