[00:00:38] Welcome to another episode of The Strange Truth. I'm your host, Carl B.

[00:00:43] Hope everyone is feeling, you know, pretty good, pretty good going into the weekend and not thinking too much about any other stuff, the political stuff, anything that can really seriously cause you to have anxiety.

[00:01:02] You know, I've really tried staying away from a lot of that stuff, right? And I think that it has done wonders for my mental health. Wonders.

[00:01:13] There's been a lot going on in PBN lately. Have you been listening? You should. There's been some really cool stuff going on in PBN this week.

[00:01:22] And, you know, it's always a pleasure, right? You know, you can always find something that will help you, right? In your prepping journey.

[00:01:33] And there are a lot of different voices. What I really like is that there are a lot of different voices on PBN, right?

[00:01:38] And, you know, you will find someone, you will find that voice on PBN to, you know, help guide you, right? On that journey to, you know, self-sufficiency, right?

[00:01:51] All right. So, it's been, we've been having pretty mild weather up here in the Northeast, so can't complain about it.

[00:02:00] You know, this is a Halloween special. And I know that when you hear this, right, Halloween will be passed.

[00:02:10] But, you know, and as a Christian, you know, you always, you feel a little bit uneasy about Halloween.

[00:02:19] But, you know, I'm going to take my son trick-or-treating.

[00:02:24] And, you know, I don't know if his older sister will want to come with him.

[00:02:28] I really hope she does because he really enjoys it when she goes with him.

[00:02:32] But, you know, she's getting to the point now where she's kind of like, I'm kind of over this.

[00:02:39] Last year, I think she went just, you know, because, you know, I think it was just to kind of humor him a little bit.

[00:02:45] But I think she's past that point.

[00:02:50] And, you know, but yeah, I'm going to take him trick-or-treating.

[00:02:55] And then, you know, and then hopefully we can settle in now for the Thanksgiving season.

[00:03:03] Right.

[00:03:04] And I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Halloween.

[00:03:10] And if you went out with the kids, hopefully they enjoy themselves.

[00:03:14] But I'm going to do Halloween in the Christian way.

[00:03:17] Right.

[00:03:17] And that is I'm going to read a few things that are spooky.

[00:03:23] Right.

[00:03:24] Directly from the Bible.

[00:03:25] You don't need you don't need to watch any horror movies or, you know, like read any horror novels.

[00:03:31] Right.

[00:03:31] You can go straight to the Bible and you can find all the things that are spooky because the Bible does talk about, you know, the afterlife a lot.

[00:03:40] Right.

[00:03:40] And so we're going to read.

[00:03:43] I'm going to read to the from, you know, from from Samuel, the book of Samuel.

[00:03:48] Right.

[00:03:48] We're going to read the Witcher Endor, the Witcher Endor story.

[00:03:52] And I'm going to also go to read the parable of Lazarus.

[00:03:56] It's not really a parable because these people have names.

[00:03:58] Right.

[00:03:59] With with parables, really, the folks don't have names.

[00:04:02] And and they're just kind of stories illustrating something.

[00:04:05] This the story of Lazarus to me is a real story because it has real names.

[00:04:12] I think this really occurred.

[00:04:14] And Jesus was just talking about something that he knew occurred.

[00:04:17] So for me, it's not a parable.

[00:04:19] It's a it's a real event that that occurred.

[00:04:22] And I think most Christian scholars would agree with that as well, that, you know, the story of Lazarus isn't a parable.

[00:04:30] It's a real you know, it's a real story about something that happened to two people.

[00:04:37] And and then we'll we'll we'll we'll ring off with the look at the Antichrist.

[00:04:42] Right.

[00:04:44] So I told you this was a Halloween special.

[00:04:47] And and if this stuff interests you, then, of course, and as it does me, it's you know, it's just fascinating.

[00:08:20] We're continuing our Halloween special here.

[00:08:22] Right. And and I'm going to read a few of the stories here from the Bible.

[00:08:29] Right. That shows that there is an afterlife.

[00:08:31] The Bible is true. Right.

[00:08:32] So it shows that there is an afterlife.

[00:08:35] And and, you know, and of course, if there is since there is an afterlife, then that does carry some serious implications for every single human being on the planet.

[00:08:44] So we'll start with Saul and the medium at Endor.

[00:08:48] Right. Right. Really, the witch. Right.

[00:08:51] Saul and the witch at Endor.

[00:08:53] Now, Samuel was dead and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah.

[00:09:01] Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land.

[00:09:06] The Philistines assembled and came up and set up camp at Shunem while Saul gathered all Israel and set up camp at Gilboa.

[00:09:15] When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid.

[00:09:19] Terror filled his heart.

[00:09:21] He inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets.

[00:09:27] Saul then said to his attendants, find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her.

[00:09:34] There is one in Endor, they said.

[00:09:37] So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes.

[00:09:41] And at night he and two men went to the woman.

[00:09:44] Consult a spirit for me, he said, and bring up for me the one I name.

[00:09:50] But the woman said to him, surely you know what Saul has done.

[00:09:54] He has cut off the mediums and spiritists from the land.

[00:09:58] Why have you set a trap for my life to bring about my death?

[00:10:02] Saul swore to her by the Lord, as surely as the Lord lives, you will not be punished for this.

[00:10:09] Then the woman asked, whom shall I bring up for you?

[00:10:12] Bring up Samuel, he said.

[00:10:15] When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul,

[00:10:20] Why have you deceived me?

[00:10:22] You are Saul.

[00:10:24] The king said to her, don't be afraid.

[00:10:27] What do you see?

[00:10:28] The woman said, I see a ghostly figure coming up out of the earth.

[00:10:33] What does he look like?

[00:10:35] He asked.

[00:10:35] An old man wearing a robe is coming up, she said.

[00:10:40] Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.

[00:10:47] Samuel said to Saul, why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?

[00:10:53] I am in great distress, Saul said.

[00:10:55] The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has departed from me.

[00:10:59] He no longer answers me either by prophets or by dreams.

[00:11:04] So I have called on you to tell me what to do.

[00:11:09] Samuel said, why do you consult me now that the Lord has departed from you and become your enemy?

[00:11:16] The Lord has done what he predicted through me.

[00:11:20] The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors, to David,

[00:11:27] because you did not obey the Lord or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites.

[00:11:33] The Lord has done this to you today.

[00:11:35] The Lord will deliver both you and Israel into the hands of the Philistines,

[00:11:42] and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me.

[00:11:45] The Lord will also give the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines.

[00:11:52] Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel's words.

[00:11:57] His strength was gone, for he had eaten nothing all that day and all that night.

[00:12:05] When the woman came to Saul and saw that he was greatly shaken, she said,

[00:12:09] Look, your servant has obeyed you.

[00:12:12] I took my life in my hands and did what you told me to do.

[00:12:15] Now please listen to your servant and let me give you some food,

[00:12:18] so you may eat and have the strength to go on your way.

[00:12:22] He refused and said, I will not eat.

[00:12:24] But his men joined the woman in urging him, and he listened to them.

[00:12:28] He got up from the ground and sat on the couch.

[00:12:30] The woman had a fattened calf at the house, which she butchered at once.

[00:12:35] She took some flour, kneaded it, and baked bread without yeast.

[00:12:38] Then she sat before Saul and his men, and that same night they got up and left.

[00:12:48] And now we're going to see the fulfillment of Samuel's prophecy.

[00:12:53] You know, Samuel is going to tell him, you know, tomorrow, by tomorrow, this time,

[00:12:57] you will be with me, meaning that you're going to be dead.

[00:12:59] Right?

[00:13:00] So, let's go to Samuel 31, right?

[00:13:07] Yeah.

[00:13:08] Yeah.

[00:13:08] Samuel 31.

[00:13:11] Let's see here.

[00:13:13] 1 Samuel 31.

[00:13:15] 1 Samuel 31.

[00:13:16] Here we go.

[00:13:16] Chapter 31.

[00:13:17] It says here, Saul takes his life.

[00:13:21] I just had to find it.

[00:13:23] Brass through it.

[00:13:24] It says,

[00:13:24] Now the Philistines fought against Israel.

[00:13:27] The Israelites fled before them, and many fell dead on Mount Gilboa.

[00:13:31] The Philistines were in hot pursuit of Saul and his sons,

[00:13:34] and they killed his sons, Jonathan and Ninebob, Malik, Shua.

[00:13:40] The fighting grew fierce around Saul,

[00:13:42] and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.

[00:13:46] Saul said to his armor-bearer,

[00:13:47] Draw your sword and run me through,

[00:13:49] or these uncircumcised fellows will come and run me through and abuse me.

[00:13:54] But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it.

[00:13:58] So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.

[00:14:00] When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead,

[00:14:03] he too fell on his sword and died with him.

[00:14:06] So Saul and his three sons and his armor-bearer and all his men died together that same day.

[00:14:13] When the Israelites along the valley and those across the Jordan saw that the Israelite army had fled

[00:14:20] and that Saul and his sons had died,

[00:14:22] they abandoned their towns and fled.

[00:14:24] And the Philistines came and occupied them.

[00:14:27] The next day, when the Philistines came up to strip the dead,

[00:14:30] they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

[00:14:33] They cut off his head and stripped off his armor,

[00:14:36] and they sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines

[00:14:39] to proclaim the news in the temple of their idols and among their people.

[00:14:43] They put his armor in the temple of Ashtores and fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shon.

[00:14:50] When the people of Jabesh-giled heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,

[00:14:55] all their valiant men marched through the night to Beth-shon.

[00:14:59] They took down the bodies of Saul and his sons from the wall of Beth-shon

[00:15:03] and went to Jabesh, where they buried them, burned them.

[00:15:07] Then they took their bones and buried them under a tamarisk tree in Jabbath,

[00:15:13] and they fasted seven days.

[00:15:16] So Samuel, right, word came to pass.

[00:15:20] His prophecy came to pass.

[00:15:22] Okay.

[00:15:23] And if you're looking any further that there is life after death,

[00:15:26] then here is proof that there is something beyond this life, right?

[00:15:30] You know, in this story.

[00:15:32] It's one place in the Bible that you can go and you can contemplate it, right?

[00:15:36] You can chew the cud, so to speak.

[00:15:38] You can chew it over, right?

[00:15:41] The other story that I'm going to read, right, from the Bible

[00:15:45] is the rich man and Lazarus.

[00:15:47] And this was told by Jesus to his disciples.

[00:15:51] And as far as I'm concerned, I think this was a true story

[00:15:54] because real names were used here, right?

[00:15:59] There was a rich man who dressed in purple.

[00:16:02] And this is in, if you want to find it, Luke 16 verses 19 through 31.

[00:16:09] That's Luke 16 verses 19 through 31, if you want to find it.

[00:16:13] The rich man and Lazarus.

[00:16:15] There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.

[00:16:21] At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table.

[00:16:29] Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

[00:16:32] The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side.

[00:16:37] The rich man also died and was buried.

[00:16:40] In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side.

[00:16:47] So he called to him,

[00:16:50] Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the finger of his finger in water and cool my tongue

[00:16:57] because I'm in agony in this fire.

[00:16:59] But Abraham replied,

[00:17:01] Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things while Lazarus received bad things.

[00:17:07] But now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

[00:17:10] And besides, all this between you, between us and you is a great chasm has been set in place

[00:17:18] so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.

[00:17:26] He answered then,

[00:17:27] Then I beg you, Father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers left.

[00:17:35] Let him warn them so that they will not come to this place of torment.

[00:17:41] Abraham replied,

[00:17:42] You have Moses and the prophets.

[00:17:45] Let them listen to them.

[00:17:47] No, Father Abraham, he said,

[00:17:49] But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.

[00:17:52] He said to him,

[00:17:55] If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.

[00:18:04] Right?

[00:18:04] And this goes to show you the hardness of men's heart.

[00:18:07] It also goes to show you that there is a real, right, a real hell, real punishment for people who are not in Christ.

[00:18:16] Right?

[00:18:17] Right?

[00:18:17] You know, so there is life after death.

[00:18:21] Right?

[00:18:22] I'm sure that Samuel, if it was indeed Samuel that came up and spoke to, you know, Saul.

[00:18:29] Right?

[00:18:30] You know, he came from the good part of the afterlife.

[00:18:35] Right?

[00:18:35] Where the good spirits go and rest until they get their bodies back.

[00:18:41] You know, and the way how it works is that, you know, during the time of judgment.

[00:18:47] Right?

[00:18:47] All those spirits will be called back to earth.

[00:18:51] Their bodies will be reconstituted.

[00:18:53] They'll get even better bodies than they have now.

[00:18:56] Right?

[00:18:56] Right?

[00:18:58] But in the meantime, right, their souls are resting.

[00:19:04] And, you know, and I'm sure that's where, you know, Samuel was probably given, you know, the, you know, I'm sure he was given the, you know, the permission.

[00:19:14] Right?

[00:19:14] You know, from God to do this.

[00:19:16] It serves as a lesson to us that, you know, we really have to take the afterlife seriously.

[00:19:23] Because, you know, Jesus said there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

[00:19:33] Right?

[00:19:34] When the time comes, when everything comes to account.

[00:19:37] Right?

[00:19:37] There is a consequence to things.

[00:19:41] So, you know, that's about the afterlife.

[00:19:44] You can check out the Bible for those fantastic stories.

[00:19:47] You can go to Samuel and read about, you know, the Witch of Endor.

[00:19:50] And you can go to Luke.

[00:19:52] And you can read about, you know, what happened to Lazarus and the rich man.

[00:19:59] Right?

[00:20:00] The last thing that I will read is an article.

[00:20:04] And I thought it was an interesting article.

[00:20:06] It's from the Harbinger's Daily.

[00:20:08] And it's misplaced hope has made the world ripe for the reign of the Antichrist.

[00:20:13] So we're covering all the bases here that will give you goosebumps.

[00:20:17] Right?

[00:20:18] And make you go, oh my goodness.

[00:20:21] Right?

[00:20:21] As you, as we leave the Halloween season.

[00:20:25] Right?

[00:20:26] And this was written by Dean Dwyer.

[00:20:28] I thought that this was a really good article.

[00:20:30] I'll read the article to you.

[00:20:31] And, you know, you can mull it over.

[00:20:34] It says,

[00:20:35] Of all the exhortations in the Word of God that Paul is inspired to write,

[00:20:41] there is one which should be precious to every saint in these closing days of the church age.

[00:20:46] He says in 1 Corinthians 16 verses 13 through 14,

[00:20:52] Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong, let all that you do be done with love.

[00:20:59] Although the word hope is not used in the passage above, it is clear that in order to watch,

[00:21:06] to stand, to be brave and strong, we must have hope.

[00:21:09] But what exactly is biblical hope?

[00:21:12] And where does my hope come from?

[00:21:14] To answer the first question, hope is an unwavering confidence in God's goodness and power to do what he says.

[00:21:22] He will do, right?

[00:21:24] He will do because of his love for us and his faithfulness to his word.

[00:21:29] Answering the second question adequately will take a little more time.

[00:21:34] Many people believe hope is to be found by looking outward.

[00:21:39] Consequently, they are searching fervently for a political, economic or cultural solution

[00:21:45] to counteract the mess the world is currently in.

[00:21:48] Others believe that hope is found within,

[00:21:51] and that if each person manifests enough of their inner strength,

[00:21:55] the world will overcome evil with good.

[00:21:58] Although such beliefs as form the basis of countless television shows,

[00:22:03] feel-good movies and books,

[00:22:05] real and everlasting hope comes from above.

[00:22:08] As the psalmist proclaimed in Psalm 42, verse 5,

[00:22:13] Why are you cast down, O my soul?

[00:22:15] And why are you disquieted within me?

[00:22:18] Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

[00:22:24] This abiding hope is not only reserved for a special few,

[00:22:28] but it is something that God wants both a Jew and Gentile to share in.

[00:22:33] The reason we are able to share in this common bond of hope

[00:22:36] is because Jesus didn't come, just come to bring hope.

[00:22:41] He is hope.

[00:22:42] 1 Timothy, verses 1, says, right?

[00:22:49] Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Savior

[00:22:52] and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope.

[00:22:55] As natural disasters, wars, rumors of wars and diseases continue to cause great distress amongst the nations,

[00:23:03] people are searching for some type of hope that will comfort them in life and in death.

[00:23:08] The problem is they continue their frantic search by looking inward and outward instead of upward.

[00:23:15] To this, right?

[00:23:17] This to some degree explains why this world is becoming ripe for the reign of the Antichrist.

[00:23:22] Many will blindly believe he is the man with a plan who is going to restore hope,

[00:23:27] not content to live by faith in Jesus Christ.

[00:23:31] Many will fall for the wicked agenda of the Antichrist because they prefer to live by sight.

[00:23:35] In 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, one of the contrasts that Paul uses is soberness and drunkenness.

[00:23:45] Of course, when we think of being sober-minded spiritually,

[00:23:47] it lends itself to being alert and living with our spiritual ears and eyes open.

[00:23:52] A sober-minded believer has a calm, rational outlook on life,

[00:23:59] grounded in the promises of God.

[00:24:01] It doesn't mean that we are complacent.

[00:24:04] It simply means that we should not become overwhelmed

[00:24:07] when we see an increase in wars, in disease, in pestilence, and in troubles,

[00:24:13] for we know that these things must come to pass.

[00:24:16] We can hear the tragic news of the day, but not lose heart.

[00:24:20] We can experience the difficulties of life, but not give up.

[00:24:23] We know who holds tomorrow,

[00:24:25] and because we can rest assuredly on the promises of God,

[00:24:29] we can live each day calmly and obediently.

[00:24:32] There's an old saying, outlook determines outcome.

[00:24:36] For the believer, our outlook should be centered on the uplook,

[00:24:42] because that reminds us that no matter what happens,

[00:24:45] our outcome is secure because we stand upon the rock, which is our hope.

[00:24:49] Psalm 62 verses 5 through 6 says,

[00:25:13] As we wait for that trumpet blast,

[00:25:15] let us not permit ourselves to grow weak-kneed and weary,

[00:25:20] but seek the ever-present strength of the Lord,

[00:25:23] for He is our blessed hope.

[00:25:26] I read that, and I thought that that was really wonderful,

[00:25:29] and I just wanted to share it with everyone.

[00:25:32] You can go to Harbinger's Daily,

[00:25:34] and you can check that one out.

[00:25:36] It's from Dean Dwyer.

[00:25:37] I thought that that was a really nice outlook on things.

[00:25:44] People are looking to all the wrong things,

[00:25:47] and they're putting their trust and hope in all the wrong things.

[00:25:53] And I think that, of course, will bring about a lot of turmoil and great sadness.

[00:26:01] And, of course, it will bring about, eventually, the Antichrist as well, right?

[00:26:07] Because a lot of people are going to put their hopes in Him.

[00:26:11] And, of course, He is the false Christ, right?

[00:26:15] The false Christ who will lead many astray.

[00:26:18] So we've covered all the bases here on our Halloween special.

[00:26:22] We've looked beyond the grave,

[00:26:26] and we've looked into the future, right?

[00:26:32] And I do the sentiment of the last piece that I read.

[00:26:38] Pray every day for our country.

[00:26:40] Pray for all our leaders, Democrat, Republican, Independents, right?

[00:26:45] Pray for all our leaders that God will come into their heart

[00:26:50] and help them to do the right things.

[00:26:54] Pray for your neighbor.

[00:26:56] Pray for all the people that you come into contact with every day,

[00:27:04] that their lives get a little better,

[00:27:06] that God comes into their heart a little bit more.

[00:27:10] Let us all pray for this great country.

[00:27:13] Let us pray for all the people all over the world,

[00:27:15] the sick, the hungry, the people who are destitute.

[00:27:20] Okay?

[00:27:20] We have to remember them.

[00:27:22] You know, we cannot forget the poor, right?

[00:27:25] The people who are in prison.

[00:27:27] All the people whose lives are, you know,

[00:27:30] whose lives are just in turmoil right now.

[00:27:33] Okay?

[00:27:35] All right.

[00:27:36] So this is where I'm going to leave it.

[00:27:37] Okay?

[00:27:38] I can't believe it.

[00:27:39] I think I'm going to come in at right around 30 minutes.

[00:27:44] That's wonderful.

[00:27:45] Have a great weekend, folks.
