WOMEN'S WEDNESDAY: Boondocking to get the family off grid w. Sara Hathaway

Welcome back to the Changing Earth podcast with author Sarah F. Hathaway and Chen Gibson. Chapter two. Cole sat in his seat, listening to the nervous chatter explode across the plane. The attendants moved from row to row, trying to reassure the people. Finally, the woman he had encountered previously approached Cole vergis we need you. The people are scared and I'm afraid we're about to lose control. You trained for this type of thing. Can you talk to them? The attendant requested, I can try. Cole responded, gathering up his courage. Come with me, she requested, leading him to a radio receiver in the front of the plane. Cole took hold of the tiny plastic receiver. Taking a deep breath, he pushed down the button. Can I have your attention please? He paused, waiting for the eyes of the people in the seats to come to rest on him. We will be arriving in Minneapolis shortly. What we witnessed in Sacramento was not an isolated event. The passengers started chatting nervously. Cole could see the fear in their eyes and feel the air growth thick with tension. What's happening down there? A man asked, are you saying the disaster wasn't just in California? A woman asked, the situation on the ground is unknown, Cole admitted. As the people's voices grew louder. Great job, Vergess, Chappy commented sarcastically. Cole shot him a condescending look before pushing the button into clearing. I'm going to need everyone to stay calm. A man in a window seat stood up, inquiring, can't you just radio down there? The nervous chatter was getting uncontrollable. Cole knew he needed to get the passengers to refocus fast or he would lose control altogether. I understand you all of questions, but right now I need anyone with medical or emergency training to raise their hand, he instructed. Several hands went up into the air, and the murmuring of the voices quieted. Keep them up. The men you see in the aisles will help you relocate to the rose closest to the exits, he told them, releasing the button. Go organize them boys, It will keep them busy. Good call, Vergis Monroe said smoothly. As his men stood up to follow Cole's command, He spoke into the mic again. When we lay your groups will be given regions for assessment. That is all for now. He hung up the microphone and turned to go back to the cockpit. Wait a minute, a man declared, grabbing Cole's arm. Have you had radio contact with anyone down there? Cole looked at him, unsure how to respond. He didn't want to create more chaos when he had just gotten control. All I can tell you right now it's spotty Overhearing their conversation, another woman inquired quietly, what the hell's going on down there? My family is down there. Noticing other passengers taking an interest in the conversation, Cole replied shortly, look out the window and you'll know as much as I do. Right now, Turning abruptly, Cole left into the cockpit. Cole could feel they were starting to descend. The smoke was thick as the plane dipped underneath the white leg hanging in the air. The men gassed in awe. Fires stretched out everywhere and cars were smashed across the jagged roadways. Vergis. Did you see this, the captain asked, as Coal approached, what do you think the airport looks like? Coal responded, everything is on fire. The coal pilot said, in a breath. The airport should be coming up on the horizon now, The captain noted, Coal strained to see their destination in the distance. The smoke obscured almost everything from view, and gigantic flames fueled their black plumes. Oh crap, Coal gassed. That's a lot of smoke. The fire must have gotten to the fuel reserves. The pilot's focus was elsewhere. Look at the runways. They're all cracked bro like eggshells. The co pilot despaired, What are we going to do? Cole asked, seeing the men's focus slipping. The captain was quiet for a moment, thinking about Cole's question. Finally, he suggested we could put it down on the lake. The coal pilot's face furrowed with concern, and he countered, this isn't two thousand and nine, and that is not the Hudson down there, Captain. Everyone survived that landing, though the captain encountered, we have enough gas to try for Duluth. Maybe it wasn't hit as bad, the co pilot suggested. The pilot looked, Coal, what do you think I'm not the one you should be asking they are, Cole responded, pointing out at the people on the plane. Their lives were in peril, and Cole felt they should have a say in their fates. The pilot and co pilot nodded at Coal in agreement. Returning to the cabin, the man who had stopped him asked, are we going to be able to land? Cole didn't answer him. He picked up the microphone and spoke into it while looking at the man. You can see as clearly as I can what we're up against. So here are our options, he paused for a moment, looking up at the crowd. We can land the plane on the lake, or fly on to Duluth and see if it's better up there. The people on the plane ignited with chatter over the options. Cole presented the woman with the pesky man up front, question, is it safe to land on the lake safer than landing on the runway? Cole commented, Listening to the people debate the options. After a few minutes, he decided to restore order. Okay, quiet down, we're going to have a vote. All those in favor of flying to Duluth, raise your hand, Cole paw. Counting the hands in the air, About twenty five percent of the occupants were in favor of this option. Now, everyone in favor of landing on the lake, raise your hands, he requested. Assessing the number of hands in the air. Their opinion was evident. Looks like we're landing on the lake. I need everyone to follow the safety instructions, and your attendants will help you if you have any questions, Cole directed them, before turning to his men and the assembled attendants. Get the lifevest ready and ensure they know how to use them. We're going to have to have everyone with mobility problems organize the flight. Attendants suggested. Make it happen, Ladies and gentlemen. Make sure those people know what to do and the medics are ready to react. Cole commanded, yes, sir, they replied, quickly, assessing the people on the plane. Cole turned back and re entered the cockpit. They chose the lake, He told them, we heard the co pilot said, disgruntled. He was not happy with the task in front of them. We're dumping fuel now. This bird needs to be as light as possible when it comes down, the captain explained. Does the crew have the passengers ready? The co pilot wondered, they're ready. We have the medical personnel gathered and the flotation device is deployed. They'll have the sides prepared when we land. You better return to your seat. Vergess, it's going to be a bumpy landing, the captain instructed. Cole felt the plane circling around in a wide arch. As he returned to his seat. The captain lined up the lake in his sights and started descending through the streams of thick smoke rising through the air. Look, Biden's America is crushing us. So hopefully they made the right choice. Yeah, yeah, you had some words for the author on that one. So for me, this is like, man, that's brave asking the passengers where they want to land. That's an emotional decision there, as opposed to the crew might have like a rational decision on where to land. Well it's kind of like our election. You get pre screened options, right, so it seems like you have a choice. But they were kind of in indecision anyway. There wasn't electronic voting at the seats, right right. Yeah, they use a certain company and uh yeah that won their lawsuit, which is easy. Yeah, and no making memes. Okay, please, that's right to jail. We got all kinds of stuff going on today. So so today with Vernice still being in the air, they we did the episode last week on the airplane crash landings, and after researching it more, I'm kind of with you. Maybe you know, flying to Duluth would have been the better idea. You're gonna have a higher mortality rate if you can land by an airport. Yeah, I don't know landing at the water so fine, a you got to land and that be you gotta make it to land, right, you make it to land? How much stuff do you have? Me? You kind of what if you got all the way up there though, and then the land is just a scrubby nowhere to land. I've had some tough decisions, discussions would fail recently. And if it's your time, it's your time, you know what I mean. So you're for like Comikasi in it. Once you get. It's captain, please try to land safely. Please land somewhere safely. Yeah, I think I would have. I would have give it a shot at the luth scene if it was any better up there. Right, Yeah, they never make it that far north, so we just have to see. All right. We got garden Girl in the chat. Belly up, o g what's going on guys? Ep Sunday? Oh we got JB out there? Oh man, filling up. Filling up. JB was just flying around the country. So yeah, so last week. Yeah, so at least her plane made it safely. Didn't have the great quake while you were in the air. See that's the thing, you know, that's the game changer, Like you're the airport's not there anymore potentially or it's just all you know on fire. Oh, we got Pappy in the chat. We're lighting up this week. Hey, guys, did you see the posts I sent you about Uh, there was an aircraft taking pictures of the flooding at California. Yeah. All I could think was these two chapters with a vergess with flying over flooded land. I was like, Sarah, Yes, I know, I checked that out. That was interesting. That lake. I've heard about that lake before because I've done a lot of studying now on the nationalization of our food industry, and so that lake was actually the biggest freshwater source west of the Mississippi. Dude just bought it and farmed it like just you know, farm the whole lake basically. So now all that water is nowhere to go. That's insane. And there's two communities there built there now and naturally that's where the runoff's supposed to go. So he's saying, it's like three times the limit that could fit in those reservoirs is coming down that hill, and where's that water gonna go. Well, we'll just have to keep an eye on that. I'm going to keep an eye on it, now, you can bet. So that was really cool. Thanks for sharing that. You should throw that one up in the chat. That might be interesting. Oh, Chicago Garden Girls husband was in the air flight delayed three hours. There's been some big storms this week, big storms, a mile wide tornado with two tornadoes spinning in a ying yang formation. This is crazy. We have some unheard of stuff going on. Once we get to the to the changing her stuff. So I was talking kind of mental preparation for disaster and Chin brought up boondock in a good way to get the family off living off grid, and I couldn't agree more. So we're kind of jumping onto that topic and going with you know, how to get the best way to mental prepare Yeah, we can sit around, we can talk about it. We can you know, have have good times working these through these scenarios and that's always great, but eventually you got to get the hands on practice right. And it's so important, so important, like riding a bike. So gardening, I've got funny gardening story. That's why I want to go into the homesteadying a little bit first. So this year I made my new garden patch right up in the back of my property. It's just a bearren land that's been like scraped of the top soil and it's a mass clay. So we brought in some amended soil. We tried to work with it a little bit, you know, but I can't believe what I did. I threw all my eggs in that one basket for my tomatoes. It wasn't the best choice. I'm just gonna say that now I should have like done some in the other garden as well. But the point of the story is that these mistakes that you're making now are great lessons for the future. Right. So, if you have a couple of garden sites and you know one's a strong producer, you've gotten that soil good, everything's going there, you know, you want to make some use of that and just throw all of your eggs into the one basket. Then the one basket fails and then you're up the creek. And luckily I can still go to the store and whatnot. But if it was a survival scenario where my family was depending upon that food to eat, that's gonna be a whole different story. So that was kind of my like takeaway for this week. I've been having a lot of mental anguish over this garden, and you know, I'm putting all of my chicken, you know, all the chicken poo everything like that. We're trying to get the soil going. But maybe we should have worked the soil for a year even without planning it before, just going for it, right. That's what happened to us too. Our soil really isn't that good. And we decided this year that we're gonna try to work it a little better, get it amended, you know, get some stuff and some in there, because just go back and try to plant vegetables and stuff, it's not. And that's what you know, the layman thinks like, oh, just take these seas and I put it out in the ground and everything is going to be fine. Well, you know, our everything sprouted, everything looked good. But then yeah, I mean, like the backbone plants that we put in are all alive that they made it through the winter and they're doing but the vejies and stuff didn't produce. Well sure, yeah. We even lost our apple tree because of the hot summer. Last summer was so hot. I kept it alive, kept alive, and it was in like full bloom. When the freeze hit again this year, now it killed. Yeah. I was like, ah, coco core is a great amendment mix one third in a native soil. The worms love it. Okay, that's one of the things that we found in Texas, it's very hard to find. Like we used to be able to buy a dirt in California that was like a really nice black dirt, but then amended with fertilizer as well, and it was great. You know, you could pretty turn around soil really really quick. But here in Texas that doesn't seem to be so much an option. Like their soil is mostly black dirt with like wood chips, you know, like like wood shavings and stuff in it. So I saw a cool I've been watching that Homesteading homestead Rescue show. It's on History Channel. It's really cool, and she did this garden for tough soils where you basically pile up a whole bunch of debris from the forest in a line, cover that with dirt, and then that's what you plant on top of. And that way the soil has tons of nutrients to be able to use for the plants. It gets aeration and it's not going down into that soil that's like nutrientless, right, So we were actually going to try that out and see how that works. We have to like literally go to somebody else's property though, to get forest debris and bring it back at home. That's kind of what we did did. Like the trees and bushes and stuff. We you know, we mixed up good dirt, planted them in the hole, and then we put cages around them, and then we put filled up with debris from the forest instead of buying mulch, you know. Yep, and they all did well. Yeah, yeah, we just don't have that option here because, like I said, it's like a barren. My husband, we went, you know, we had a lot of forests. We have forty acres to take care of the. Right. Yeah, I love it, don't get me wrong. I love the forests. Totally miss it. But Rock was like, you know, I want to be able to do all my yardwork one day. We're only going to be here until he's done with high school, and so I had to give, you know, for that's how how marriage works. Sometimes you get and sometimes you give. And I'm so glad to be away from suburbia yards right. Well, I mean where we're at, we consider it suburbia. And everybody who lives in a suburbia area is like, wow, you live out in the country. Like we're like okay, you know, like my neighbor's right there. I haven't been able to see my neighbor in like twenty years, so I don't know. I don't think this is country living, but you know it's really good school district and whatnot. So good for the family and we'll be able to move on afterwards and see where where life takes us. When you got to go two roads off of to get to the two lane road to get into town, it's kind of off yeah off love that. I love that. Yeah. So other things, like I said, my my garden site that's down close to homes doing great. I got my strawberries going crazy, my onions, you know, potatoes, I did all my root vegetables down there because the soil is so good down there. But then yeah, put my cucumbers and my tomatoes, which I really needed a cannon hear uh. So it's gonna be a work in progress. Just yeah, thick clay soil with like no nutrients at all. So we're gonna be working on that so long. Like I say, long story for a short message, which is you know, get out there and practice now because it'll be worth your time later, especially if you need those skills. Like so much of our food used to come from American backyards, right, like just fifty years ago. Yeah, nobody's like, what you have a garden? Are you like a hippie or like you're a homestutter or whatever? You know, No, like people used to just have gardens. Growing up, we had a big garden. Yeah, and not like a big tractor garden, right, A good. Plot, a good plot that was set aside to growing food. Yeah, it was a good kitchen garden, you know whatever. Right enough to like put some jars up for the winter and things like that. So oh do I mushroom farms around? I don't know, but that'd be a great idea to look into. That's some good soil. That was JB. Chima Wi. My wife's gotten into uh worm far me. She started, yeah, growing you know whatever raisin worms to get that. She gets the tea out of it and then she gets the earth. Yeah, so she's working on that. I've been still doing the sprouting. So I've been finding out different things about the sprouting for the chicken. Funny she's got she's got plants growing in the tubs, the worm tubs. Yeah, I believe that. What is that? Let's go planting well even. Like from feeding the chicken scraps, then like they'll have like random tomatoes growing out around their coops and stuff, just like random. So that's pretty cool. That's a area I should go till up, right, we move their chicken coop over, just go till all that up. You know, that'd be great soil. So but we're up there right that we're working with it. So do the other way to practice, which we often forget. And I got to admit, I've got a little like squishy now that I got my trailer, you know, is getting out and actually camping, and so you're like you're going to choose your level here. But the one thing with like we we just purchased a trailer, just this whatever strength, it's beautiful. We were tent camping forever. I camped with a trailer when I was a kid with the family. With the trailer, you can practice as if you were off gard living at home. True, very because you could practice because we ours actually came with a solar system pre installed in it, right, so we could, oh, go ahead to brag it up, not plug in, so we could run off. You know, you could cook outside on on the fire. You could run off a solar for light at night, or recharge your phone or your walkie talkies colms right right there. Yeah, yeah, comms got it. And you know, like your water, Yeah, the. Water treatment and the day hikes are great way of like go practice your navigation. Man, Yeah, because I was thinking navigation because even like if you do like BLM land or national forests and stuff, you're gonna want to, you know, get out the top of maps and figure out where you're going, make sure you can get there with your vehicle. And so it's a great time to plan driving off the pavement. It is, and it's a good way of like. Call triple A. You can call a recovery tow truck now if you screw up, but later if you're trying to get out of suburbia or something you might not be able to call. It's true. I like it too as far as just going out and finding a random site, like what would be a good place to start a fire where you're going to have good reflection and you know, without it being pre planned, without anybody kind of like this is your campsite, Here is your firewood, right. Yep, Yeah, yeah, that's that's what I was saying site selection, right, So pick a site. So what what's a good site for, you know, for sleeping, comfort of sleeping, for being able to cook, like you know all the like animal dealing with animals and food, food storage and stuff like that, so you don't get wind. And flooding as well. There's been so much flash flooding and like things are so extreme right now. You have to think like a little bit more extreme because you just don't know what mother nature is gonna throw at you right now. And to think about all that stuff. Picking us a camping site when you're doing the privative camping is a little more in depth than here's your map, go to site thirty one exactly exactly. Your worst thing is, oh, well the sept the coast reach you know. Yeah yeah from my trailer. Uh huh yeah. This is like go out and dig a trench for your bathroom. And so. One of the things I love the most is grab the go bag and really do it. This is like top tier, right, So grab the go bag and really go with that bag for the weekend and see how it goes. That is going to be your best test of Oh my gosh, I have way too much weight in this thing. First of all, I've almost done that. Have you done that? I've done it, and if we failed miserably in the first time. We've done it. We went to Cumberland Island for a week and it's it's whatever you can carry in and carry out. There's no camp stores, there's no ranger station per se, you know, there's like no overnight ranger station. They're there to meet the ferry. That's it. That's it. Yeah, you're not getting help that. But we packed more than I would be able to carry range right and talk about a mile to our site. Well that's what really got us talking about the the golf cart dolly, you know. Yeah, because yeah, because no matter like how light you pack your bag, you want certain things in there, it's gonna be heavy. Why carry it if you can pull it like easily. You're actually just talking about that. We probably do bikes next time. Oh hey, they'd use a bike like a pack bule. Even if you weren't riding it, you could still just walk with a lot of stuff on it. My dog's so big, I could probably hook a. Cart, hitch a cart up to them. Yeah, well that was the other thing we were actually talking about this last night because I was, you know, there asking me about you know, lessons that I've learned from my books and whatnot. And one of the biggest things is like most of the horses that people have nowadays are like big dogs and a pasture. Like if you think you're gonna be able to just go and hook a cart up to that horse and pull yourself away, you are like loco. The settlers had so many thrilling adventures with how the horses respond with carts behind them and stuff that's really not perpetrated in our idea of what we think like the Old West was. You know, Hollywood makes it look like really neat and pretty, but it is not that way, even with trained animals. So that's a great, great idea. The bike because it sounds like a little bit more reliable. It was a good way to get around to move your supplies, and then you could always like those paneer baskets or whatever they call it on the back, you. Know, yeah, they have luggage racks and stuff. Yeah, and then you could always take some of that load off and scout with your bike or I used to. We didn't bring a bike, but I rented a bike for a day and I used the bike to go get firewood, and I man, I looked like some French peasant when I had so much fire because I had it, so I was going to use it. So yeah, so it's a good way to scout and you know, because you could take your stuff like have a base camp. Well that's that's a great point. Like one of the other things that I learned when I tried to take my go bag and go was that you need like a smaller pack because when you do go like scouting around and stuff like that, you don't want to carry all your stuff with you all the time, right, So having the option of taking that smaller pack that's kind of like your EEC kit, right, It's got some essentials in it just in case, but it's not all your stuff. That that was something I definitely added to my repertoire and and made sure that was attached to my go bag was another just small like day pack. Yeah, so that's what and that's what we did. So we we lugged everything to the campsite like for the week camp and that we set up like base camp, and that we hiked every day. How you know, to go explore the island, and then I rented a bike for a day and we went further out than we could have hiked that whole time, because we're getting further away from where everybody could hike, you know, exactly further away from all the scavenging, and I could pick up a lot more wood. Yeah, fair enough. And we had our little day packs on when we went, you know, because we would go out and have lunch out away from the site. So we're little day packs with first ay kits and all that kind. Of the day pack as well, you know, you can have a foraging bag so while you're out, because like when you're in wilderness survival mode, you should have your hat on a swivel and be foraging every second of the way. And so like the my favoritest thing to do is of course bring out my foraging books, you know, the Autobond guides, those are great books. Get books for your region, Get different books because some books have pictures of the plant in this stage and this other book might have pictures of a plant in that stage right, or some are only black and white. I mean, that's not really going to do it. They do have some good apps nowadays, but I'm not one who really like likes to rely on apps. Obviously, I'm an author. I like to have a print book in my hand. So yeah, right, right, so that's. Everything right foraging, but I'll click it. But also take trips with your books. Don't ever pick everything. Okay, you only pick a third of what is there because you want to leave enough to like regrow. So the next person I thought was let Sarah sample it first. Yeah, yeah, forging rule, give it to Sarah Furst. I'm the littlest I'm gonna be the biggest affected. I'm just saying the big guys are supposed to do that. Hint, that's right if Okay. Another thing that's totally it looks so easy is like building a shelter. Right, You're gonna build your own shelter, and it's gonna be so easy. It's gonna be so fantastic. It is so hard. Like, yeah, back in Cali, all the wood was like really hard wood. So when I'm reading in the book, oh, you can take the ball and bend it, you know, and make this, and I'm like, I'm not bending nothing, like this is not happening. We tend to think too spaciously. You know, we're like, we're gonna build a mansion. No. No, Like when you're building a shelter. Most of the time, those things are just gonna be for you to slip inside of and stay warm while you're sleeping, you know. So there's so many YouTube videos and they're like, look at what I built in two hours, and we're like, ball loney, dude, no way. Uh uh and two hours. If it takes you two hours to set up, you know, it's that's taken away from a lot of time to do whatever else you need to do, right, but you. Can't even do it in two hours. That's that. No. No, I don't care what they say. Like they're building like a little taj mahal and they're like, we did that in two hours. I was like, uh, you know, so have you done hammock camping? Oh? I haven't. I just got my hammock this year for Christmas. I got everybody hammocks this year for Christmas. And then Brock and I are going to share one. I got the two personal So he's way heavier than me. So what's gonna happen is I'm just gonna fall on him and be sleeping on him all night. I know it, So we'll see how that goes. I need the top tart. There's a pointer for all the single guys out there. Yeah, I've got a two person hammock. I just ate a full dinner. You ain't going nowhere tonight. Yeah, we're squirrel were we were staying out whatever our friend's house and their bed was that way. It was just like like all weekend. It felt like I was crawling out of the Grand Canyon to try and get some personal space, you know. Oh man, So yeah, lots of squirrels today. It's a fun day. We're having over let your hairt out to day. But the building skills, of course a great idea. We always take our rope books out too, like our survival actual guides. Right, of course you shall have one because they have great manuals on emergency like first aid and stuff like that. So you should have that information. But what a great time to like sit there with your kids and practice like tying the different knots. So it's where we learn the most about It was just you know, sitting around the fire doing that kind of thing. Also, it's a good time, you know, I mean at this level we're talking sometimes about tactical movements and stuff like that. There's a lot of really cool ways you can move as a group, so it looks like it's only one person walking forward. I'm just saying, like this is the time to practice, you know, and you can make it fun. Or like who can get by the ravine without being spotted and then like trade out who's doing that? We always practice like getting out of handcuffs and zip ties and whatnot. At this time I've been road. Did you situational awareness? Did you see that whatever? Yes? Animal? Did you see that rock formation? To make sure people are paying attention not just right like as. You hike out to your day spot. Yes, trying to hike quietly, you know, not step on twigs and you know the whole like quiet footfall and all that stuff. So final reason besides getting out in nature, like what like leave your technology behind, shut off the TVs and the machines and hear the earth and convene with you with God, you know, and being out there it's so healing for the soul. But besides that, you know, it's time to put time into those relationships in your life that might need a little care. They always need care. Relationships. Everybody's like, oh, how do you how do you stay married so long? You know, It's like, well, I care about him and he cares about me, So we take time to care about each other. But you have to do we spend time together, right, You have. To take time to care about each other. Inspect ever exactly. Because like my wife and I we used to work like a building a part, so we would drive into work together, drive home together, like we were together like twenty four to seven. People looked at like, we're crazy, how could you do that? Right? We get along. We're like each other's best friend, you know, So it worked. And spending time together I think it is valuable, right. And you have to make that time. You have to make that time for your children, You have to make that time for your spouse, and you have to make that time for your friends. Because you don't make time for your friends, you're not gonna have it and yourself. Right, you take those personal moments, just that time to you know, relax. So when you're out camping with friends, have you ever had a friend that like was a long distance friend and then they move close to you and then like you're like, wow, this relationship isn't gonna last because you or's been a way too much time together. You know, I didn't realize you were this way or that way. I've had a couple of those. And you. No, no, but just what you know, pass reflection and this is a great time, you know, take some of your friends. If you're like, oh, this is my survival group. You know, these are the people i'd want with me if disaster hit. These are the people I trust most of my life I want. These are the people I want with me. So when you have the choice, it's a good test. It's a good testing ground too, exactly camping, because I mean, you're dealing with stuff. It's either weather or insects or. Do you have to like delegate responsibilities. Who's going to really take the leadership roles? Are gonna be clashes, that kind of thing. You can some kind of stress introduced into your weekend or your week you know, your vacation, and it's a good time to figure out how to deal with it, how to be productive with it and not blow up. And like one of the things about our lives, we can easily not engage with other people right now, but in a survival situation, you know, there might be more families all living together. There might be these types of dynamics that we haven't had to deal with ever. You know, I've never had to deal with that in my life of like being forced to well you know, with family, cousins, stuff like that. But it's not a long term situation, right, So learning personality styles, learning how to cope with people. You mentioned, you know, taking time for yourself. Well, we're all work in progress, So learning those coping skills for yourself of like, wow, they're really being an a hole, But how do I handle that in a constructive way that doesn't just blow this whole situation up? You know, that's really important to kind of work out now in your life, especially since if you're sitting here listen to my podcast and things go down, you're probably gonna know what to do, which means people are probably going to look to you to be a leader, and you have to know how to work and cope with people in that situation. People you might not have chose to be in your survival group are now your survival group. And if you're just trying to figure out people now. Good good luck. Yeah, when you don't. Have access the human nature default to blow up, right, It's it's so easy, but it's it's not productive at all. Even Donner party, right, The reason why mister Donner left is because he had gotten in an argument with one of the other main men from that group and killed him. Right. So the group was like, you have to leave, you can't stay here. You just killed somebody else, right, It was just an argument and he killed him, And so mister Donner went over the mountain first, and the caravan's the one that got stuck in the mountains. So when they didn't make it down there, that's why that party was actually found eventually, was because he was looking for his family. So everything happens for a reason. But man, you know you're gonna be tested like in ways you don't you better learn to cope with first world problems because you know, disaster situation you're gonna be dealing with a lot more. So all be reaching out for that help from above because it'll be very interesting times. And so being out in the wilderness just gives you that different perspective of being able to sit around the fire and hash things out and take your relationship to a new level. They are they really are they're like the soother. Just sitting around with a bunch of friends, just staring into the fire and telling stupid stories and just having a good time. It's a good way to unwind. Mm hmm. I won't mess it for the world. Alrighty, So let's jump into some changing earth news. We're about at that time. Nice, Yeah, just whipping through and I got some cool stuff today. All right, here we go. Already, pretty significant filament release on the twenty first solar flare in bound supposed to impact tonight, so we'll see what's going on with that. But it was a full halo cm. This one is going out at US. So wow, JB, that is a serious clam Holy smokes, I'm coming up there for some clam chowder. Baby. Yes. If it wasn't Washington, I wouldn't even think for a minute. That's awesome. Yeah, you can like cut your hand and stuff. Okay, no more squirrels, I'm staying here. We also have some pretty significant corona holes turning in towards US right now, so those are also something we're gonna have to keep our eyes on. The earthquake activity was actually kind of mild over the past little bit, but we you know, if we're given the theories we go off of, we should see a difference in that today. So that's definitely something we want to keep our eyes on, all right. So they have finally signed top level scientists are finally releasing papers on the effects of the energetic particles that are entering our atmosphere. So like every time there's a chronal mass ejection, we might not get hit with it, but it shoves these charged particles down. We have like a tether to the sun basically, and it shoves these charge particles down the line and enters our planet through the north and then works its way down to the equator and kind of works back and forth. It's super charges as a planet. And they finally admitted that like, yeah, they pull the they are having more effect on us now because of the way weakening magnetic field than they used to, and this has gotta be a significant factor when looking at like planetary changes and what's going on. And it's definitely not the effect anything that people did, you know. So that's really cool to see them kind of takeing a second look at the science and trying to figure out actual problems and solutions instead of uh, made up ones. Okay, So on the seventheenth there was four hundred and forty three earthquakes that were two point zero or bigger, biggest of which was a five point seven in New Zealand and actually on the seventeenth, New Zealand had the top three. So that place has been rocking and rolling. Prayers to everybody down there. They've been getting hit by some serious earthquakes. Also on the seventeenth asteroid twenty twenty three HB Hotel Bravo. It flew past at point five lunar distance, so it's pretty darn close one hundred and twenty one thousand miles about one hundred and ninety five thousand kilometers. This is the twenty first this year that flew by within one lunar distance. It was about two point two to five meters or seven to sixteen feet big Tanzania was hit by a severe rain event. The Tallandander River overflowed. Seven people died, six more were missing, and dozens of people were left homeless. They had infrastructure damage along with crop and livestock loss. So very big rain event there, just overflowing the rivers, and you know, it's just get more extreme out there. Brazil was also hit again this week on the seventeenth in Rio Grandel Soul. They had one hundred and eight kilometer per hour or sixty seven mile an hour winds. They had about ten centimeters or four inch wide hailstones falling and these destroyed about four hundred homes in three communities. So they came in big, they came in in hard, and they did a lot of damage. On the eighteenth of April, there was four hundred and sixteen earthquakes that were two point zero or bigger, biggest of which was six point seven in the South Pacific Ocean near Fiji. Another asteroid, So this is like two consecutive days. They're both from the Apollo group. But twenty twenty three h h Hotel Hotel flew by at point three lunar distance, which is about eighty nine thousand miles or one hundred and forty three kilometers, the twenty third this year and it's the fourth this month alone, So that's crazy asteroids flying by real close, like you know, you only get lucky so many times. This one was four point five to ten meters big or fourteen to thirty three foot wide, so that could be an interesting event to have something like that and er the solar system or enter the Earth's atmosphere. Saudi Arabia was hit again by heavy rain and hail. It's just that continuing week after week. Down there. Three children died when their vehicle was swept away when their family was trying to cross the river. And the northern United States, Mississippi River is finally filling up, but it's filling up a little too much because we got all of that rail oh that snow this winter, So the flooding has begun. In Minnesota. Stearns County has been hit the worst and they're expecting that flooding to move downstream in the coming days. So of course it's starting at the top, it'll go south. In Pakistan, three truckers died when they were hit by a landslide on a key road in between Pakistan and Afghanistan. They're afraid that more drivers are still trapped in their vehicles underneath that landslide. And it was caused when lightning hit the top of the mountain made the whole mountain collapse out of the highway. Is crazy or what? So? The electric the charge particles that I was talking about they will cause more extreme lightning events. And this is the type of things that they think, you know, actually vitrifies These severe lightning events will actually vitrify sand and turn it into It's like some areas out by Egypt, it looks like a nuclear bomb went off, right, but you know, the pyramids wouldn't be standing if there was any kind of nuclear activity. So they think that these severe lightning events, when the earth gets charged like this, can actually cause this like mega lightning that is like the thunderclap from the heavens basically. So we're starting to see some more things like this. On the nineteenth of April, there was three hundred and eighty seven earthquakes that were two point zero or bigger, biggest of which was a six point three in Papua New Guinea and Ukraine. They had a bright fireball explode over Kiev, so of course they go up an alarm that it's you know, an attack on the capital city, right, It was actually a medium that came in and exploded over the top of the city. Well, like, what bad timing on that one, right, Excuse me, I've been a little under the weather this week, so I gotta deal with my uh, my voice little. In West Java, Indonesia, they got hit again. Bigore was hit the worst. A water embankment completely collapsed because the rivers are so full and running massive flooding. They had to do a lot of evacuation of families along the river there when that when that basically the levee went down and flooded this whole community. Oman is also getting hit again. Several cities are flooded there due to heavy rain. They're gonna be back in the news that Saudi Arabia and Oman have just been getting hit really hard. And then on the nineteenth is when the supercell system hit the Midwest. I'm I'm, I'm blessed by God that we're usually at like the very southern end of this, so we. Uh. That night, there was a tornado that was in Tyler. It's you know, about twenty minutes from my house. Pretty big, not big compared to what was going on that night, but still a little close for comfort, you know. Across the country, fifteen tornadoes touchdown Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas. Three people died when the e F three tornado hit Cole, Oklahoma, and then hail swept through with those as well, so it was a really fun night across the Midwest. On the twentieth of April, there was three hundred and ninety nine earthquakes that were two point zero or bigger, biggest of which was a five point four on the in the North Pacific Ocean, there was a very rare hybrid solar clip, so basically it was only visible in Australia, timer Lesti and parts of Indonesia, and it just black out the sun for you know, it just turns day to night from the solar eclipse. So pretty cool event happening there. In Angolia, there was heavy rains and storms. It left one hundred left hundreds of families homeless. Twenty people died in that Luanda was hit particularly hardest, and that's actually the capital of Angolia, so you know, it's like the most populated area just getting creamed and so a very tough event for them there. And then Turkey at the Syria border. These poor people can't take a break, so they had one person actually killed, fifty injured eight seriously, a storm comes through with a tornado hit the earthquake survivor's camps and most of the people were injured from the buildings around them were being destroyed and the debris was falling on the tents that they're like living in because of the earthquake that happened. So that really is like the changing Earth story unfolding over there. It's not a good situation for them. April twenty first, we had four hundred and twenty seven earthquakes that were two point zero or bigger. Biggest of which was a six point four in the Maluca Sea in Indonesia. That is the night that the solar flare was released. They did detect the radio four frequencies which are just associated with coronal event coming our way. So one of the very rare things that happened was in Havana in Cuba, they had this unexpected storm roll in. They had hail, which they do not see there. And beyond that, they had ping pong ball sized hail, which has never ever been seen in Cuba before ever. So that was that's Mother Nature doing new stuff right there. And it's crazy. I always look for those kind of stories, you know, that are like this is way out of the norm, and we're seeing so many of them right now. In Ecuador, the song Hi volcano had a sizable eruption. The ash cloud went nine kilometers or twenty nine thousand feet above the volcano, and then they had ash that came down west of the volcano and it contaminated all the cultural crops or the agricultural crops with volcanic ash. So it took out a lot of product as far as like bananas and things like that that they grow over there. So that's not a good good thing to happen. We've always got our eyes open for agricultural disaster as well because that affects the globe we're now feeding each other. So then on the Turkey Syria border again they had major flash flooding with this huge rainstorm. People were like driving down the highway and then you're just trapped in a torrent of rain, like it came in that fast and happened that quick that they literally just are in the middle of the highway stuck because they didn't have time to even get off the highway before this rain. The flash flooding came in and now you're in the middle of a river. So they were rescuing them out of their vehicles. And then they also had hail came in piled up so and destroyed agricultural areas, so this was a wider spread disaster and really not what that area needed at all. In the USA, just an interesting thing in Miami, there was a water spout that made landfall. It was on the Hollywood Beach and that area has just been hit by all kinds of flooding and everything. So it's interesting to see, like the weather just kind of still being crazy with them over there. This though, is really interesting. And Miramar a rare tornado, so they don't ever see tornadoes. They got hit with a huge tornado, killed eight people, injured one hundred and twenty eight people. Was on the ground for forty minutes, so they never see tornadoes, right and this tornado's on the ground for almost an hour. Should sit here, hold my beer. Right yeah, Like, oh, we're gonna show you a new kind of disaster. So the increased wind speeds, these tornadoes are indicatent of increased wind speeds on our planet, right, kicking up in areas we haven't seen before. And just the turmoils in the skies with all these hailstorms and I'm talking hails. You know that clam if you're looking at the chat that JBA has the hailstones that big, you know, in a circle. That is crazy, right, that's coming through your roof, you know. April twenty second, there was four hundred and fifty seven earthquakes that were two point zero bigger, biggest of which was a six point one in the Indian Ocean in Indonesia. Oman got hit with an EF three tornado. So they've been getting flooded with all these they've had the haboobs. Now they're getting into tornado two hundred and sixty five kilometers per hour one hundred and sixty five mile an hour winds. Luckily, it hit a rural area, so like any of the buildings that they have along the road were destroyed. They lost a lot of farms and a lot of live stock, which is never a good thing. But luckily it didn't hit like a very populated area because it was pretty severe. But the rains came in right after that and that did hit all of the urban areas. There was live stock lost in that event, just being swept down cars. The roads just literally turned to rivers, and so we had that. Coming back home. On the twenty second. In North Carolina, there was the Great Lakes Fire. It was in southwestern Craven County. Thirty six thousand acres went up or fourteen thousand, five hundred hectares. They had it contained. I looked at it today. They had it contained as far as I know, because it wasn't on our big lists. But it was causing like some really bad air quality on the coastline. Luckily, there was no injuries and no structures threatened by that fire. It was just you know, woodlands, which are actually designed to burn every now and then, so not always a bad thing. Back to Saudi Arabia in type types, it's a town in Mecca. There was flash flooding, severe storms. These again the streets are just turning into rivers there because the drainage systems couldn't handle this much raino at once, And that one literally swept away like everybody's cars, Like if you had a car on that street, it has gone. They were piled up and just taking people right with them and everything. So that was pretty crazy to watch, all right. So as of today, there are twenty six volcanoes erupting. We're down two from last week. That's always a good thing. Twenty eight was the most I've ever seen before studying this for a pretty long time now, like a couple of years now, so you know, and looking at them every week. Never seen twenty eight that's what we had last week. So to see it down to twenty six, still high, but not the highest I've ever seen now twenty four minor eruption events and thirty five showing unrest. So we went down one intererupting or yeah, down down two in erupting, down one in the minor, and up to in the unrest. So just kind of shifting around. Nobody really shutting down. Although I did look at the kim Cheka Peninsula and though there is another volcano erupting, the big one, the names like Russian and it begins with an SS, so it's really hard to say anyway unless it's right out of my tongue. But it is not erupting. It's not on the eruption list currently. So that's good news as far as that goes, because that that's a big volcano. As far as earthquakes we had that are four point zero or bigger, we had thirty six today, we had seventy nine yesterday. Those numbers are both up from what's been happening this week. We had two hundred and twenty five during last week, and we had four hundred and seventy seven in the two weeks before that. The biggest volcano today was a five point three in the Philippines, And so the today and yesterday we're kind of up, but in the last week, last two weeks we're kind of down. We had a lot of solar stability, so that's always a good thing. As far as wildfires in the United States, we have fifty four states reporting fires in their states, twenty large active fires right now, fourteen thousand, eight hundred and twelve acres from active fires on fire right now. Colorado is coming in as the number one. They have one fire that's three thoy thirty nine acres. It has not contained. Oklahoma's coming in number two. They've been on the list for a while. I think it's because they're getting hit by the storms and that's causing the fire activity. Fourteen new fires plus the four current ones, it's only two thousand, seven hundred and seventy eight acres. I can say it's only because you know, I lived in California for a long time, so that seems like a small fire to me. Sixteen of those fires are actively contained, so that's why I think they're spot fires off of the storms though the twenty roos and whatnot that have been coming through. In Nebraska's coming up as number three, they have two fires, both of them are contained two four hundred and five acres. Now, this was interesting. New Jersey is still reporting in at one eight hundred and sixty six acres. That's a small little state, so that's a lot of acreage for them. And then West Virginia as well with fifteen hundred acres. So what's up with the East coast like going up on fire instead of the West coast. I mean, I'm sure the West coast not complaining, but you know, just different. I don't know, change changing Earth, that's right. Yeah, we need to freeze, I. Know, right, like trademarket or something. My logo is so all right, well that's pretty much the changing Earth news. Finding those things that are like we've never seen this before ever in the history of our country. You're just like, what and we had two of those events this week, So mark that on the calendar. I'm gonna have to start like recording out like feel like a world map and then be putting thumb tacks on it, you know. Yeah, see how that looks like? I like have it on my wall. I could use it as a YouTube backdrop. I think I have enough projects. So speaking of Vergis is almost done, it's like, oh, it's close because I've already we've got the print version like done, so Doug just putting some final touches on it and then that's gonna be ready to go. I have no idea when the audiobook's gonna come out because I'm still working with how that's all gonna go together. So I have nowhere there. The audio drama, however, is coming along quite nicelyma the drama. Yeah, So I don't want to set a date on it because I definitely that is a lot of work. So anybody who knows anything about audio editing will understand exactly what I'm talking about when I say it's a lot of work. But and if you don't, yeah, it's like for every minute that you hear, it's like at least two hours of audio editing. So I'm just not willing to put a deadline on myself with that, or any of my performers or any of the people that help me out with that because it's really a labor of love and it's coming together so beautifully this year or that we're just gonna let it happen organically, So I can't really set a date on it, you know, I don't want to do it. Maybe Midsummer will be about and I'm not gonna. Yeah it's. And I'm not gonna, but it's gonna be cool. And uh got a lot of great people participating in it this year, and I'm really excited to show everybody. And so as we get near, you know, you always get excited, but I know there's a lot of uh background work that still still needs to be done. So yeah, so it'll be there, and I'm excited. I want to get you excited about it, but I'm not gonna give you a time when I'm gonna be done with it yet. We're where the crew is gonna be done with it yet. So that's just the way it is.
